Lily cried and held each one of the kittens before they left and made sure to tell them how much she loved them

Whenever the family cat died Lily was absolutely heartbroken and she cried with her cat for days

Remus was there to hold her though and that made Lily feel better

Lily thinks Dolly Parton is a national treasure and if you don't like her she just cannot be friends with you and she isn't even sorry

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

I have to choose one thing? I mean... if I have to choose just one thing, I think I'd have to choose her strength. Because she is someone who made it in men's world. Since Charlotte is a fierce spokesperson for women's rights in a world that is still dominated by men, I think that Acier becoming a captain during the previous generation is a mark of strength. She needed to earn that spot. She's fiercely protective, and immensely compassionate and caring, but takes no bs from anyone. Because being kind and compassionate, doesn't equate you into being a doormat or going along with the loudest person in the room. Granted that she's probably had to go along with some things in her life due to her status (I mean... would he have married a man like Papa Silva if she didn't), but she endured those things. She continued to care for her children as much as she could until her dying day, because she loved them. Not because it was a duty of hers, but because she wanted to do so. Acier Silva is one of the strongest characters in BC, and I will stand by that statement.

12. What’s a headcanon you have for this character?

My headcanon for Acier is that she used to be, in her youth, a bit of a trouble maker. Not one to cause harm for anyone, but she'd sneak out when she was supposed to stay indoors and practice something like needlepoint. In a way, I headcanon that she was a lot like Mereo. But less volatile and less eager to fight things.

18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?

Like I said in Nozel's case, I adore Acier's mother-son relationship. I wish that we would have gotten more of it (awkward side-eyeing at canon), during the happy times. As in, sure, the goodbye she left was also touching and made me clench my heart, but damn... It was far from a happy reunion. Though there was relief in it too. It's more than clear that Nozel idolizes his mother, and that Acier loved Nozel (as well as all her children) with all her heart. But she got to develop the bond she has with Nozel the best because... he's the oldest child. And she had some years when he was the only child. She also (though it ended up being... uhh... rather counter productive) transferred the wish to keep the family safe onto Nozel. And I think this happened before Acier said it to Nozel blatantly.

21. If you’re a fic writer and have written for this character, what’s your favorite thing to do when you’re writing for this character? What’s something you don’t like?

Hmmm... Okay, okay, though I'd like to see more Acier-Nozel mom-son bonding time, I do like making it sting. As in, I've drawn such angst from this, and I enjoyed writing it. But I am drawn to the idea of writing something happy for them too, I just don't know what that might be. As to what I don't like writing for her, I suppose... well, saying that I would dislike it seems a wee bit strong, but I'm not particularly interested in writing her reasons as to why she married Papa Silva (however, luckily the fic has been already written by a lovely mutual, Lyra (if my memory serves me correctly)). I do think that it's an important fic to have in the fandom, but writing that particular story didn't appeal to me. Overall, considering her character, I don't think there's anything in particular that I'd dislike doing. Aside of maybe writing her out of character.

Before starting some christmas doodles and/or dtiys brainstorm thumbnails i wanted to do a thought experiment and draw down every new tattoo idea I have as if money, time and pain tolerance wasnt an issue 😆 so here is what I would look like if all my ideas got made :3

1) words under right collarbone reading: "write your own story" - at the end there is a peacock feather pen still in the midst of writing the "y". Reminder to myself that this life I am living is my own and I get to decide what story I want it to be.

2) Harpy in a dynamic pose with wings stretched out and top surgery scars. The motive may change since the idea mostly is to cover up a feature i have started to become insecure about (my thigh) and make it into something I can be proud of (an artwork)

3) If I am lucky enough to meet either Jere or Bojan I will ask them to write "Are You" on something that I then want tattooed on me. This is probably the least meaningful i just love them so much i want a part of them on my skin as the parasocial delulu fan I am xD

4) a logo i have made for my own artist persona/singer songwriter persona. Placement may change. Represents my passion with singing and songwriting.

5) Flapjack from the Owl House with a brush in his mouth. Tribute tattoo to my grandmother who passed away last year. This tattoo i do have (made by Christine at Cray Cray Ink in Copenhagen on March 23 2023).

6) Eevee sitting down tilting his head where he wears a tiara with the transgender symbol on it. Eevee was my favourite pokemon and to this day i love the symbolism of the eeveelutions for the trans readings of the whole thing. The tiara just makes it more obvious plus its cute.

7) Bulbasaur with a studded collar. Ngl this one is here because I love Jere and that he fits with Eevee and Flapjack.

8) an ouroboros snake all the way across my arm making an infinity symbol. The infinity symbol is a nod to the autistic symbol while the snake is mostly here to nod to norse mythology. Probably one the tattoos that are mostly here for aesthetic reasons and that I am most likely to drop.

9) a flagpole with a t-shirt reading Ihan Sama on it. A reference to both the coverart and the lyrical content of käärijä's song Paidaton Riehuja (he has put the shirt on a flag pole when taking it off and screams ihan sama aka whatever at his insecurities about his looks at the beginning of the song). Feel connected to the song on both a gendered way and as inspiration to love myself and my body. Still figuring out if it would be most fun to have on my left arm (easier to see) or down my side (right where I have the second most body insecurity therefore being a reminder to love that part of myself)

10) the three birds concept - i mentioned it in another post so I wont go into detail here - will be running along with my left collarbone so the peacock tail is resting on the shoulder

11) my newest idea for a post-op chest tattoo is one of these adorable fox doodles created by Frederikke at Shay Ink in Odense - the fox will be wearing the bolero pointing metalforks into the air. Under it will be written this lyric from CCC: Enkää pelkääkään tätä maailmaa.

12) an ansuz rune on my left lower arm. Represents tons of things from my heritance (dane aka viking), interest in norse mythology, humanity, creativity, interest in language (last three is all meanings the rune has in itself), my autism, asexuality and aromaticism (since ansuz is also an old version of the letter 'a') together with being a nod to the käärijä concert I watched two days prior (the font being related to the käärijä font). This tattoo is one I already have and was made by Caroline at the psycadelic unicorn in Berlin.

Hey, I have watched a few historical dramas and I think that the Borgias had the best costumes. I know nothing about historical fashion but from what I've read, the dresses at least look like they could be of that time period somewhat. But that's just my opinion. What do you think? What's your favourite historical drama on the basis of their costumes.

For me, good costumes are about the quality of the clothes and the impression they make, more than accuracy. Like, for me, Reign has some of my favorite looks because they pursued an aesthetic and got some legit GREAT pieces over four seasons. Some of the looks flopped, but some really crushed it.

But in general, The Borgias is probably my favorite show for women's costumes as well. I don't hate the men's costumes, but they aren't nearly as good, imo--especially Cesare's. Cesare was MUCH more dramatically dressed in real life, and I think Francois could've pulled it off. The women looked amazing, though; and while they're not perfectly accurate, they're more accurate than many, and they create a very High RenArt aesthetic, which I love. Plus, there's a really distinct vibe to different characters' ensembles. Giulia would never wear a Lucrezia ensemble, Vanozza would never wear a Giulia costume, etc.

Victoria had some really good looks for Tom Hughes as Albert, though I think the era helped a lot there--Victoria had some good costumes as well, but they dressed Tom in very sleek, clean lines, gloves, gave him his lil pirate shirts and suspenders for the lounging around scenes. There's a moment early in s2 (maybe the premiere) when he's in a full dark coat with leather gloves and it is excellent. And the big FORMAL moments (the wedding, the Clockwork Prince episode) always hit. They gave him a very good "romantic fairytale prince" look, and they also dressed David Oakes super well. David Oakes also has some great sweeping cloak moments on Vikings: Valhalla that offset his "Natalie Dormer is My Baby's Mother, Suck My Dick Era" really well.

The Great has FABULOUS costumes for men and women (well, for Peter and women). Catherine's evolution from "businesslike" simple clothes to opulent gowns to stoic despot wear over three seasons is so, so good. The costumes really tell a story on this show, down to the beauty marks Mariel and George wear in s3. Peter is given the rockstar look with the pearls and the leather pants to offset Catherine's sensibility; and of course, we're so FAMILIAR with his look that even a casual viewer can tell that Catherine is wearing Peter's clothes, down to his pearls and his coat, for multiple episodes after he dies. Which is HEARTBREAKING. Some of the best costuming on TV.

I also rewatched Catherine the Great (the Helen Mirren one) recently, and I love that they showed us Catherine and Potemkin in full drag, a great costume moment for both that also reflected Catherine's court. Potemkin gets some very good menswear moments that illustrate his progression from normal soldier to the Right Hand of The Crown, while also enhancing the passage of time, and they use the eyepatch EXCELLENTLY. Great division of vibes for when he's wearing the patch versus not wearing the patch (the desire to intimidate versus the desire to look like a statesman versus the desire to be vulnerable with Catherine).

So as far as television dramas--this is what I'd go for. I also adore the way men are dressed in Pride and Prejudice (2005) (Matthew McFadyen wears one of the most iconic men's costumes of the last 25 years in the meadow scene), everything anyone wears in any Zhang Yimou film ever but especially in Curse of the Golden Flower, the costuming in Bram Stoker's Dracula (simply perfection), and of course everything Roxanne wears in Cyrano, romantic heroine excellence. And more, I'm sure!

tell me abt sognametal i need new music to listen to

alright so sognametal is essentially just "how this one particular guy that lives in this one particular region of norway creates black-folk/viking metal", so it's not TECHNICALLY an entire genre in the same way that "canadian rock" isn't anything revolutionary and not pre-existing.

"windir" is the band formed by the one particular guy in question, aka terje "valfar" bakken. it was originally a solo project until the 2000s, after which the members of "ulcus" (who were valfar's friends/neighbors/etc and originally assisted as session musicians) joined to make playing live easier. after valfar's passing in 2004 however, the band broke up as they felt windir died with valfar.

the majority of ex-ulcus and ex-windir members went on to form "vreid", a really cool black-n-roll project that... i unfortunately care very little about as black-n-roll is not my thing, but people who DO like that stuff have said they're phenomenal. also, i say "majority" but that just means "everyone except gaute refsnes", aka the keyboardist of both windir and ulcus. refsnes went on to form "cor scorpii", which is a symphonic black metal band that i adore. (strom was also in cor scorpii for a bit but dropped out of the project)

windir sort of left a crater size impact in vestland (western norway, where they all lived), as there are quite a few projects that were inspired by valfar's work! "inspired" is underselling things a little though, as members from vreid have participated in these bands - the bands being "mistur" and "galar". "myrkgrav" is also worth mentioning, even though it's not particularly sognametal from sogndal but he (one guy, a solo project) does kind of exist in the same sphere nonetheless.

because this is black metal also, the question eventually comes up: does this have anything to do with nazis? the answer is no. valfar, the heart of sognametal, claimed no affiliation with nazis while he was alive. that aside, what i consider sketchy may differ from what you consider sketchy. lars jensen of "myrkgrav" is also explicitly anti-racist, so this area of aesthetic sensibilities is a bit cleaner than most others.

and i know that's a lot, so just listen to the album "1184" by windir and then explore from there. i may make a flowchart for this stuff if anyone is ever interested.

Wednesday Reading Meme April 5 2023

What I've Read A Restless Truth - Freya Marske - Second in a series and I bring that up because the people I read who started this book did so without KNOWING that it was the second in a series. (It holds its own but a lot of the background does not make sense).

I really enjoyed this book - the main characters got to do some whacky and hilarious stuff in the midst of quite a serious investigation with high stakes. The sapphic love story is a delight but they are far from perfect people, and I think overall, I enjoyed this more than the first book. I found Maud to be a bit more relatable than Robin, the POV character for most of the first book, but I also just adored Violet and all her showy, prickly ways. Third book comes out this fall.

(I think that The Locked Tomb series may have unlocked something in my brain that really enjoys series, and having to wait for another feels like a gift of future pleasure rather than a punishment for not being a single book.)

Fanfic I've read

cacio e pepe by serephemeral - https://archiveofourown.org/works/21845440 - I adored this "Some Like it Hot" continuation. After movie ends with "Well, nobody's perfect!" Daphe, who is still sometimes Jerry, runs off into the sunset with Osgood. And Joe, and Sugar. The future doesn't look anything like they planned but it's amazing none the less. Kudos to schneefink for reccing this, I would never have found it otherwise and it's officially my favorite Some Like It Hot fic.

The Gothic: A Very Short Introduction - Nick Groom - 39% - This is my first time reading the "very short introduction" books and it's really interesting! Pulling together some threads about English history and this aesthetic mode that have never quite tied themselves together in my head.

Also, I had re-watched Crimson Peak this week, and it was a fascinating re-watch! I caught so much more of the symbolism around Edith's clothing and Lucille's cryptic statements about their mother. I liked Thomas a lot less on this re-watch, before the ending, but I think I saw more of his wistful attempt to escape. I also totally did NOT remember how much Edith's writing shapes the early edges of her relationship with Thomas - he first is interested in her because of her writing! When he's trying to break her heart, he attacks her writing

The Traitor Baru Cormorant - Seth Dickinson - 19% - A re-read before I get into the rest of the books for fun. I'm listening to the audiobook and the narrator, who I will not name, is pronouncing "duchy" wrong for the entire book. (So that it rhymes with "cootchie") and I'm solidering bravely on. I forgot how much of the book is just "terrified lesbian of color gradually sells people out for safety and the promise of future power" and ooooh, man, it's good.

Powers of Horror: An Essay on Abjection - Julia Kristeva - This is a very navel-gazing literary theory book that makes me realize all afresh that I have real problems with Freudian framing for everything, BUT, it is cited by every major work on horror that I have read. It's French, it's slow, it's worth a read but it's going to be a slog.

just curious, what’s your favorite and least favorite character design? my least fav for sure has got to be female byleth for reasons i don’t want to get in to yep ok have a good day 😁

IOops this accidentally became a rant, sorry

Okay so, to preface this all, I’m not a character designer and I’m actually pretty bad at it, but my rule of thumb with really unappealing or fan-service outfits is whether or not it makes sense character-wise and how much it tells the player about the character. For example, I think we can all agree that there’s quite a bit of fan-service elements in Hilda’s design. Boob window. However, it’s not unrealistic to imagine Hilda picking out those clothes for herself. Her costume tells you almost everything you need to know about her character on a visual level. She’s confident, pretty, attention-grabbing, and high maintenance while the gloves and laced girdle give a nod to her Viking-maiden roots.

Taking it to female Byleth, I don’t think that her outfit works on either front. Her design is definitely my least favorite and it’s not helped by the fact that you have to look at her at all times. Whatever. The huge, solid mass of boobs, the buttoned bib, the big eyes, the feather hair, the bellybutton, the ripped tights, the booty shorts. She’s a merc out in life and death situations with an accessible, pale, tacky 2000′s “stab me” stomach cut out and a wedgie. Which could be excusable if, like Hilda, there was reason to believe that that her costume was character choice. But she doesn’t really have much character, and what there is gives the impression of a very stoic, dry, blunt person. I have no idea why they’d have gone that route when the sexual appeal of more “utilitarian” costuming (aka, form fitting armor that at least pretends to be functional) for characters like her is scientifically proven AND would say more about the singular personality trait she possesses. Okay, well, I know why they didn’t do that and I think it’s lame. This dysfunction of “character designer wanted a sexy girl but it’s kinda random and just shoved in the game without any thought” actually reminds me a lot of Xenoblade 2′s leading ladies, Hikari and Pyra. Although considering that their bad designs led to a lot of people hating the game for superficial reasons while accepting female Byleth’s design, I guess I’m just bitter. Jumping to a different comparison, then, look at 2B from Nier Automata. Her design is fine as hell which is kinda hypocritical of me considering that it's explicitly fan-service, but I think it also shows the most damning thing for female Byleth. Her whole look, despite having a dozen different element thrown in, is boring. Maybe it’s the colors (dressing her in all black and white would have been really interesting considering the colors of the three lords are so heavily emphasized as a part of their characters) or maybe it’s just the way the desperate elements come together. But, like I said, I'm not even slightly knowledgeable about character design and I know that despite Three Houses being mostly separate, they had to appeal to a larger aesthetic brand to which I have little experience with. And, ultimately, a lot of people find her cute or sexy which...To each their own, I suppose. I don’t pretend that fan-service doesn’t work on me (2B... Cloud’s arms in the remake... Seph's shirtless Smash skin...) but when it’s this obviously inserted in by the character designers rather than feeling organic in any way AND looks bad I'm just not super interested.

The other worst designs for me would be all four of the Ashen Wolves post timeskip. I don't think it's controversial to say that they didn't try with the clothes, even if I love their designs from the neck up (Yes, even Balthus. He looks like the type of guy that would let you sit on his shoulders at a rock concert so you could see the stage). While there are other designs I think are unappealing, those are for purely aesthetic reasons and so I can't maintain the opinion that they're actively bad or that I even truly dislike them.

As for favorite looks... I actually have a few so sorry you're getting all of them because despite the shit I'm talking, I actually really really love the character designs in Three Houses.

Ferdinand's post timeskip is one of my favorite designs, if not my favorite. The hair, the coat, the armor, the spurs, the colors. You know exactly who Ferdinand von Aegir is just by looking at him. He’s wealthy, handsome, confident in his appearance, a hero, a princely type character, his battle form is mounted combat which is traditionally aesthetically reserved for nobility and leaders... I love it. The only reason I cannot say he IS my favorite is because of the three Lords. But before them, my honorable mentions include post timeskip Hilda, Dorothea, Lorenz, Felix, and Hubert. Granted, I could make a case for why I like almost all of the student’s post timeskip looks.

For the Lords, I obviously have to start with colors because, weirdly enough, Persona didn’t invent primary colors but are actually used as shorthand. Blue is the color of honor, loyalty, sincerity, sadness, and depression. Something I’ve always found very interesting is that blue is very rarely found in nature. To me, that’s always made it seem more lonely which, at least in this case, is thematically relevant. People call Dimitri boring pre timeskip and while I won’t defend his hairstyle (okay, actually, I probably would because he tucks it behind his ears and idk why but that’s one of the cutest things ever) I really like how unassuming he is. Bland. He’s supposed to be the plain shortbread cookie to caramel deLite Claude and strawberry meringue Edelgard. It is not in his character to draw attention to himself or stand out. To me, he kinda looks like an old Barbie prince, like he should have been named Dominic. Also I love the blue eyes/blonde hair thing and his more angular features. It really helps to sell him as the fakeout chivalrous prince type. Post timeskip, Dimitri's black armor is amazing. I love the fact that it’s a lot more intricate up-close with the different little shell-like pieces and the fact that his boots are furry. I love the big cape and the black and white fur around his shoulders. It’s really cool how they used his costume to change the shape of his in-game model to match the bodily proportions of the character art. It’s easier to see when you change his costume into the DLC ones, but the fur and cape build up his shoulders and chest look more broad while keeping that tiny little waist. The choice to give Dimitri an eyepatch is probably my favorite thing about this design. It’s genuinely inspired. Such a simple detail yet it tells the player everything they need to know about adult Dimitri when they see him post timeskip, in one frame the player can begin to understand the extent of his loss over the past five years. The subtle shadow under his eye in the first few Azure Moon chapters and the messy long-ish hair really help to sell the feral prince aesthetic as well, as it’s from those small cues the player gets that he’s exhausted (in more ways than one) and doesn’t maintain himself. None of these things are intentional choices by Dimtiri, they’re the result of what his character has been through.

Yellow is an intense, energetic color. Mostly, people think of it as being warm and inviting, the color of the sun and positivity. That intensity can be overwhelming, though, too visually demanding when compared to its primary counterparts. Don’t stare at the sun too long. Buuuut, it’s okay to stare at Claude. Claude not wanting to wear tight pants in either of his costumes is not only a mood, it is iconic. Pre timeskip, the softer lines of his silhouette makes him look kinda slouchy, kinda lazy. Like he’s not too concerned with appearances. But those adorably messy curls, the little braid, the clearly tended eyebrows, and earring make it clear that he DOES care about appearances and is very aware of his allure. And that’s before he even starts winking. It is honestly so in character that as many people picked him first on the basis of being thirsty, that feels like an intentionally Claude thing even if it was inserted by the designers. The contrast of his complexion with his seagreen eyes is gorgeous and instantly adds a kind of mystery and intrigue to him considering the setting... but it’s sf funny that nobody looked at bronze god Claude among a sea of white faces and thought something was up. Post timeskip, they used the same trick like they did with Dimitri to change Claude’s in-game model to match his canon appearance. The way they designed his uniform makes him not look as twink-ish, like he’s actually muscular and imposing and has the strength he’d need to shoot a war bow with a 120lbs draw weight. Also like Dimitri, you can instantly tell what Claude’s been up to. Like, he was very pretty pre timeskip but when he shows up in the Goddess Tower after those five years in all that gold, he demands your attention. Like a gentleman general with the excessive aesthetic ideals of the Alliance and details to imply his heritage. The quilted pants are amazing from both an aesthetic and practical standpoint. He’s a mounted unit riding a creature with scales, of course he’d want something on his legs for protection. And the chinstrap. I love that so much, it definitely makes him look more adult. He’s got such a cute soft baby face, it’s fun imagining him experimenting with different styles during the five years to get the most desired physical reaction to him as a leader.

Frenchfries, meet forehead. No, actually, Edelgard’s design is really fantastic. Claude and Dimitri both have realistically colored eyes and hair and then there’s Edelgard. Dimitri shrugs off attention physically and Claude shirks it with a wink but Edelgard commands the players attention from the very start. Although I’m sure there’s a lot of things to associate with white hair and purple eyes, my first thought was Daenerys from Game of Thrones. Otherworldly beautiful by with an edge. Red, of course, is The power color. Strong emotions, love and hate. Red is also associated strongly with blood, which is very important to Edelgard’s plot. Granted, I think the red and black association is even more powerful than JUST red and red is the cheapest play to make in regards to displaying villainy (I mean, there are some pretty universally recognized associations with red and black and it led to people making some unfair comparisons between Edelgard and a famous dictator) but I think it was effective and well used and I genuinely enjoy its use in her case. Anyway, if I had a major complaint about her design it would be the weird ashy color of her hair whereas Lysithea’s hair is pure white. Which doesn’t even matter with the AMAZING hair horns. Ram horns can actually symbolize quite a few things, but their association with power and strength is pretty universal I think. They’re also used in demonic imagery. I love that THIS was her alternative to a crown. Edelgard views herself as a force of war and power before she thinks of herself as royalty. She also mentions that she isn’t super vain, but she loves to do her hair, so the hair being the most elaborate part of her look is entirely in-character. Edelgard’s ensemble is, like Claude, very militaristic. I love that they kept her in a dress that embraces femininity without showing skin as that wouldn’t really suit her Also, again, Edelgard demands your attention. She’s dressed all in bright bright red waving around a giant axe. She is a symbol as much as she is a combatant, someone to follow. I didn’t really mention their secondary lord costumes, but a girl in sexy armor is literally everything and I love that they had the balls to put their main sexy waifu girl in full body armor.

Okay I’m sorry I realize this was excessive and probably didn’t need explaining and I’m not sure I even articulated my thoughts properly but anyway I love their designs so here is the positivity I’ll put into the world.

Episode 15: Lyle the Kindly Viking (2001) - Larry convinces Bob to let Archibald run the show for the day. Archibald, a true Theater Gay, is delighted at the opportunity to dazzle the audience and share his British culture - Archibald forces Mr. Lunt to appear onstage in drag as Ophelia because “in Shakespeare’s day, *all the women’s roles were played by men*” - “Silly Songs with Larry” is replaced by “Classy Songs with Larry.” Archibald seems very excited to announce this, not just because it’s a classy song, but because it’s his boyfriend singing. In a top hat. Larry plays along willingly of course. - also the whole episode is about socialism so that’s fun

Episode 16: The Ultimate Silly Song Countdown (2001) nothing happens in this one

Episode 17: Jonah Sing Along Songs and More (2002) - At the beginning of the episode Larry says that he is “so excited and just can’t hide it” but he doesn’t really say why. I think it’s because his boyfriend is supposed to be the star of the Jonah movie. - Archibald is afraid to come out of his dressing room because he doesn’t want to be swallowed by a whale. Larry tries to convince Archibald to come out of the closet his dressing room by offering to share his popcorn and accidentally covers himself in butter. For the laughs of course. no other reason. - When that doesn’t work, Larry teases Archibald by acting like a chicken and calls it “tough love.” Which doesn’t work. - Larry tries to inspire his boyfriend to come out of the closet his dressing room by dressing up as Indiana Jones, James Bond, and of course Larryboy. Which is very cute but also doesn’t work. - Archibald finally comes out after Larry offers to replace him in the movie.

Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie (2002) - Archibald plays Jonah and Larry plays one of the Pirates who Don’t Do Anything. When Jonah asks the pirates to take him away from Ninevah, he makes some waggly eye gestures and says “money is no object.” Larry’s jaw drops and eye patch pops off. - Larry is visibly concerned after Jonah is thrown overboard, and manages to throw him a life raft. Larry is also the first to react when Jonah is eaten by the whale anyway.

Episode 18: The Star of Christmas (2002) Larry’s aesthetic is adorable but nothing happens

Episode 19: The Wonderful World of Auto-tainment! (2003) Love the 60′s aesthetic, but nothing gay happens except maybe the robots?

Episode 20: The Ballad of Little Joe (2003) Larry goes to cowboy camp (*ahem*) but nothing happens between him and Archibald here. Great episode though

Episode 21: An Easter Carol (2004) nothing happens

Episode 22: A Snoodle’s Tale (2004) - Larry accidentally gets separated from Danish Immersion Camp and ends up at British Literary Camp instead. Instead of trying to get back to Danish Immersion Camp he decides to stay at British Literary Camp the whole summer. I wonder why Larry would suddenly have an interest in British literature? To impress a certain someone (who doesn’t appear in this episode) perhaps? - episode also features body positivity, Jimmy Gourd in drag, and bi solidarity

A Meager Attempt At A Cool Rocks Post

So I have been inspired by @reddpenn's superb Cool Rock Posts. I too have a love for cool rocks, but it pales in comparison to the breadth and depth of both collection size and rock knowledge Redd has. Alas, my love of rocks remains uneducated and amateur, which is kind of ironic since I took three geology classes in college for my science credits. (Turns out I just like pretty things, actually remembering their formation and hardness and stuff doesn’t factor in.)

Nonetheless! I wish to share my small but still lovely collection of rocks and what little I know about them!

I have made this little display for our purposes. Obviously there are a few stand-ins so that my collection does not look too lonely, but if there is one thing I do excel at collecting, it is cool-looking Stuff to scatter around my house. Pay no mind to the Trex, he was a recent purchase from the home decoration store because he LOOKS like rock, which I think we can all agree is a good aesthetic for him. So far he has been a very good chap.

We shall start with the Small Boys:

These are the rocks I've had the longest, and in truth pay little mind to. As anyone who has frequented a gift shop with a rock section will recognize, these are the kind of assorted rocks one finds in a box, pays for by weight or bag limit, and takes home in a charming felt pouch. I don't even know what kind of rocks they are. Perhaps variations of the same kind? Someone with greater rock knowledge than I may know.

But you should know that, when it comes to rocks, I have a secret:

I really, really, REALLYREALLYREALLY like rocks you can SEE INTO

There's something so beautiful and magical, even mysterious, about translucent stone. Be it a glass ball full of swirled colors or a rough chunk of rock revealing deeply embedded inclusions, the depth and glow of a transparent or translucent rock fills me with delight. Perhaps it puts me in mind of bodies of water, and all the life swimming about in them. It makes you want to believe there is more to this simple stone, to imagine cool fantasy stories around their hidden abilities. This is why this seemingly boring Gray found a home - look how he lights up! Even Green has a bit of glow! (Blue does not, sadly, but he is blue. I like blue. :D)

My fondness for orange rocks is also going to become highly apparent as we continue:

Now, I am not one to dole out large amounts of money for rocks willy-nilly - I have to be REALLY CERTAIN I love a rock enough to spend the asking price (i.e. How Likely Am I To Hold And Stare At This Rock For Long Periods?). But just look at this BEAUTY! It's like I'm holding a small chunk out of the rings of Saturn in my hand. It is also just about the right shape to pass for a dragon egg. And, I mean, look at it in the light:

Tell me that doesn’t look like a yolk. XD

I waffle between imagining this as a dragon egg, or plotting to incorporate it into my orange-and-yellow mandalorian cosplay as a chunk of stone from an old Jedi temple that my mando has hooked up to an arm device that uses it to detect force-users in the vicinity. Like I said, rocks are awesome for creating cool stories. :D

(Also: while I do not ascribe to the new age-y uses of palm stones, I will say that there is something decidedly pleasant about just holding a gorgeous, smooth, cool rock that fits perfectly in the palm of your hand!)

Back to the first picture, because Tumblr has an obnoxious 10 pic limit on posts...

Right: This is my newest rock, purchased just this week at the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery. Sometimes a particular rock just jumps out at you, and that is what happened with this very reasonably-priced $5 piece of orange calcite I brought home.

It looks like a huge chunk of candy. I almost want to eat it. But where it lacks the superior factor of rock candy that is deliciousness, this citrine has the estimable advantage of not turning sticky no matter how long I touch it.

And once again, when held up to the light...

Look at that gorgeous glow! She turns almost yellow in the light! I tell you, I looked at most of the orange citrine in the box, but this one that initially grabbed my attention just really stuck with me. Sometimes rock collecting is just the simple joy of finding that rare rock that really leaps out at you ahead of all the other pretty rocks which give you your fill for a few seconds before being left peacefully on their shelf.

(In other words, find the rocks that you want to stare at while spinning in your palm for unreasonable amounts of time like a crow adoring its shinies.)

Now, this little slice of a geode (I THINK??? Experts please advise) isn't very exotic. But for the paltry sum I paid for it at a rummage tent, and the GORGEOUS swirls this picture does not do justice, I think my reasons for claiming it are clear:

Someone more knowledgeable than me, please feel free to point out what qualities make this piece so lovely. It is amazing, like the frozen visage of a swirly space storm frosted with ice. I want to make it into jewelry or attach it to something, and I never wear jewelry. Why is the carrying around of pretty stones just to look at fondly in bored moments not more socially acceptable, I ask you?! (Not that this has stopped me, at times.)

Alas, I'm probably getting a bit long-winded, but we are nearing the end of the collection! And I'm sure someone out there is interested in the contents of this fun little box:

This was actually a prize I won for completing the scavenger hunt games in first place at a Steampunk convention several years ago! And I LOVE IT! A perfect little custom exhibit box, complete with labels! It looks so cool on my shelf. And all the pieces are authentic!

First, the ever-familiar purple amethyst. I must confess, I am a slight hipster in regards to liking things a bit more if they are less well-known, and perhaps that is why I don't have much opinion about amethyst. It is undeniably lovely in color and translucency, but it's just EVERYWHERE - I feel sometimes like it is the unofficial mascot of Cool Rocks In Gift Shops. So this rock isn't high on my favorites list, but it still feels right to have a piece.

The trilobite is my real favorite of the group. Look how big he is! Look how complete! I'd never held such a big one before this, much less owned it! And he's still a little guy compared to some out there! So cool!!! And he is indeed a rock, because fossils :D

And the last one isn’t a rock at all, but come on, ACTUAL VIKING AGE METAL. That's just cool.

But what's this? A mere decorative addition? An imposter?!

Sure, sand and glass are both made of silicates, but they don't really count as Cool Rocks, or even gems. But what's that there, tucked away in the shell...?

My genuine pink pearl from Hawaii! Now, granted, pearls are not your typical rock. But they ARE considered gems, just made by a living creature, so I felt it deserved a mention. I got this two years ago on a family vacation to Maui, at the Dole Plantation. While pearls have never been a favorite of mine, this one is special to me because my mother, sister, and cousin also did the "open an oyster and get the pearl inside" touristy thing that places like this offer. We almost all got different colors, and it was just really cool. There is a hole drilled in one side in case I ever want it mounted in a ring or something, but truthfully, I wish I had left it pristine. It now resides as a secret treasure in my other, glassier souvenir from that cool trip.

So my name is Shay, I go by Whiskey because it's a preference in liquor on my end. I go by they/them pronouns, AFAB and I'm bi and omniromantic, I do have an mild preference for men or masc aligned people. I'm a Libra sun, Virgo moon and Aquarius rising. I'm Caucasian/White and I stand at 5'9. I have celtic and Danish heritage, My family where vikings. I'm really tall and legs double the size of my torso, as in my thighs are as big as my torso in length, same with my calves. I call myself spider legs because of that. I have this natural like wolf cut going on that is this dark green with my roots be my natural dark chocolate brown hair. My eyes are hazel with gold flecks that shift in color which I found out is normal for people with hazel eyes. I paint my nails black a lot because I find the color pleasing. My build wise is like a rectangle like shape with broad shoulders. I'm pretty strong and I'm proud of my strength. I'm currently starting to get into shape and lose weight so I have fit shape but not like over for. Just the right amount of fat over my muscles. I have a lot of stretch marks,, mostly around my waist and my biceps. I call them my stripes or lighting marks. I have plans to get snake bite piercings and wear like the ring ones in them. I'm getting an tattoo soon that is like this and then I want a burning match tattoo on my color bone. My ears are piercing and I like wearing fake gauges, spirals and then the ratings that have the dangly stuff and cuffs with them. I also wear like those stereotypical hot topic chokers. I wear a lot of long sleeves and skinny jeans, I do like ripped skinny jeans. I also love flannels and black boots like doc martins or converse.

I think you can assume by the statement of me liking whiskey I am the rebellious sort which is true. I have drank a bit and tried weed, I don't do it anymore tho.I have been told if people don't know me and see me from afar I'm intimidating to approach. Even being spooky and intimidating, I promise I'm just a big softie. I usually assume the mom friend of the group with my friends. I always worry about them and make sure they take care of themselves. Sometimes I do it so much I forget to take care of myself. I'm really gentle and compassionate, along with being extremely empathetic. I can be stubborn and bit judgemental at times, mostly working off first impressions myself when getting to know each other. I have an hard time being insertive and putting my foot down with my boundaries, scared to lose people even if the hurt me. I'm an introvert through and through, liking to watch from the back and observe the way things go on around me. I do my best to be an optimist because I can't see the point in see everything wrong in this world, it helps me to see the good. I love going on adventures with my close friends and love being a chaotic bastard with them. My dnd alignment is chaotic neutral and I'm Hufflepuff. I do live by the saying do no harm but take no shit. But I won't hesitate to fight someone for the right causes.

I do always constantly look like I am going to funeral of some sort because I own nothing but black. The color makes me feel really comfortable but it's not my favorite color. My favorite color is green but I like sage green, forest green, mossy green, etc. The earthy greens are my favorites. I have a love for the forest and woodlands, finding a sense of home in the woods. I do love archery and something I'm definitely going to be picking up along with playing the drums. I also smoke herbal cigarettes as well as alternative to smoking.

You know that I often get called a cryptid and at this point, I am just one. Cryptidcore, Midwest Gothic, and Pacific Northwest Gothic are my favorite aesthetics. I have a huge love for cryptozoology (the study of cryptids), parapsychology (the psychic phenomena and other paranormal claims), original creepypasta stories and to be honest anything like spooky and creepy. I want to be a mortician and I'm attending school for that. I also really love the dark, especially if I have some good music blasting through my earbuds. I am a sucker for long road trips and seeing things, filling the adventure heart I have. My favorite animals are coyotes and I also like horses. I like to write a lot as well. My favorite cryptids are The Beast of Bray Road, Not Deer, Jersey Devil and Jacklopes.

I feel like the two of you are going to spend some evenings in painting nails. Jeff is slightly touch starved and will absolutely run his hands over your body and just adore everything about you. I can also see Jeff working out with you as well!! He will be your number one supporter regardless of what you're going to be doing. He finds it so sweet that you take care of other people.
