Like musical Beej and Adam except less perverted and more flirty/sappy? I was an odd kid- okay? 🥲 #Anyway… the old design didn’t really do much to show off her personality… so I ended up upheaving the whole thing #So I upheaved the whole thing. #It was okay for what I knew at the time- but I know what I was trying to say then and now I have the knowledge to say it better #Also— the reason I gave her horns here is so silly. #When I was younger I was in a Christian school where I wasn’t allowed to draw witches-ghosts-demons-etc. #So even though I based her on the Dante girls… I refused to give her horns because I thought that was ‘too sinful’ #I even remember having so much guilt while looking for references of the Dante workers #I couldn’t even look for more than five seconds! #Anyways… she really pushed the boundaries for me at the time and it’s fun to see how I’ve changed and grown since then.

#I’m just sampling! #honestly! #gotta know how I wanna do my next project. #anyways as much as I enjoy the action of combing fibers #I didn’t like that the Icelandic in particular would separate out tog from them #and I am not spending 100$ on single row combs I would only really want for double fleeces like this #and I do eventually want to experiment with seperated fleeces (just not right now) #I decided I was finally gonna do it #I was finally gonna get reacquainted with my cards #and so far I’m having a decent time! #I think I finally found a technique that works for me #(it’s basically just from Louis Swales’ video ‘how to card like a ghost’) #I’m putting out rolags that umm #ok they don’t look great but they are a decent spinning experience! #and I like how little waste there is #currently in this pic I am spinning some rolags that were rolled off the short end of cards so the fiber is mostly parallel #(been calling them cigar rolags) #and tbh I think I prefer the rolag rolled off the long side #I feel the dual cost fibers mix better #I’m gonna try to spindle spin enough yarn to make a short pair of socks as one of the things I wanted to do was get #a pair of 100% Icelandic wool socks to see how it wears compared to the commercial standard of merino nylon blend #and then I want to spin some Lopi style for a sweater #and if I have any long locks leftover I’ll use that in my current rug project #yarn #handmade #spinning #handspinning #handspun #wool #spindle

#Natural Outlaws and Fractured Sovereignty #aroaessidhe 2023 reads #Overall I enjoyed this! #It’s very much like. typical fake royalty/heist/competition YA-NA kind of narrative BUT without romance which honestly I can get behind #It’s a bit messy in places - especially the start and end where it’s not within the main fake-royalty-heist plot #It very much starts with an almost suicide attempt and she talks him down and then they’re friends and thieving together #It’s not quite apparent how long has passed until later when it mentions they’ve been friends for two years #I think it would have been much better to just start in the present and then flashback to that scene at some other point. #Also the POVs are quite inconsistent - she has most of the POV he just has one every now and then when it’s plot relevant #Which makes starting the book on his POV feel odd. #It definitely skips over action or pivotal moments like. a lot. like most of what should be the most pivotal action scenes lol #(If you’re looking for a heist in here most of the plot is faking royalty & gathering info but the Actual Heist is pretty much off page) #I feel like i could have had some more worldbuilding and about some of the side characters #the qpr is a bit show not tell. but also basically what you expect from the central relationship of this kind of book if it were a romance #BUT yeah overall I did enjoy this - and as I said I do appreciate This Sort Of Story But It Doesn’t Have Romance a lot! #And an aromantic MC! I think I didn’t have the highest expectations for this but I ended up having a good time.
