Walking in Anna knew she wanted an elegant blue dress so sourcing was the first step. She’s the Assemblywoman behind The Fashion Act so we sourced sustainably … and I am an award winning Ethical Apparel Designer after all! Anna loves fine fabrics and was open to many shades of blue so I cast a wide net and we looked a lot of beautiful fabrics as well as some existing garments we could potentially “harvest” from. Anna had been married before and is in her 40’s so she didn’t feel like or want to be seen as a traditional bride; A bold blue design reflects that! I decided to just do what I do and travel during Christmas and had a wonderful time with some of my best friends. I really missed the mountains and the snow but this is Colorado. This was my first time using crampons and seeing how everyone else who was also hiking was not using crampons and falling on their butts, I’d suggest crampons or skis if you ever hiking at high altitudes in the snow. Non-Traditional

I never wanted to have a traditional wedding. I take that back. Growing up I did. As a little girl. Heck, when “Pinterest” came out, I still wanted a traditional wedding. I think.

After I fell in love, the traditional romantical fairy princess wedding didn’t seem to please me any more. It didn’t seem like, me. It was no longer how I wanted to celebrate my love for this man.

We wanted to elope. We had made up our minds. We wanted this to be about us. We made the mistake of proclaiming our “non-conventional” nuptials who the people who were most perturbed by it. Our parents. 

This is the last time I will ever do something that is not for myself. This is the last time I will conform to someone else’s expectations, dreams and unrealistic fantasies of me. The last time. I swear it.

Am I overthinking? Should I tuck these feelings of non-conformity away and... forget? 

Yet I find myself thinking “I wish we were eloping, like we wanted” at least once a week. I think that means something. Something that I cannot forgot. But what.
