BPM Scholarly Contest for the Front Page -Japanese- (English)
youtube
Translator’s note: Kanji in Japanese is complicated. Depending on how a character is used and in what context, it could be pronounced differently, and different kanji can be used to make different sounds. It’s rather inconsistent, and as you can see from this video, it’s hard even for Japanese people sometimes.
Teacher: Alright, everyone, let’s begin. Good job on completing the test.
Everyone: Thank you.
Teacher: In order to make this more exciting, I’ll be announcing the top three overall scores.
Everyone: Wow! Yes!
Teacher: First, number three… Codomo Dragon’s… Hayato.
Tumblr media
Teacher: As for your score, out of a total of 100 possible points, and an average of 54, you received 71.
Voices: Wow! That’s incredible! You did well!
Tumblr media
Number 3: Hayato Codomo Dragon (vocalist)
Average class score: 54
Japanese: 14 Math: 20 Science: 6 Social Studies: 15 English: 16 Total: 71
Teacher: This is of course based on 20 points per each of the five subjects with a total of 100.
Subaru: Oh, is that how this works?
Teacher: Continuing on, at number two… Kiryu…
Takemasa: OH! That’s one of us, one of us, one of us… Hey, the camera ain’t pointed at me…
Laughter.
Teacher: It’s Junji.
Tumblr media
Teacher: Junji received a total score of 75.
Tumblr media
Number 2: Tokai Junji Kiryu (Drummer)
Average class score: 54
Japanese: 18 Math: 20 Science: 12 Social Studies: 12 English: 13 Total: 75
Junji (after pumping his fists in the air and dancing around): That makes me a little happy.
Teacher: And now I’d like to announce the top score in the class.
Junji: It’s definitely Hiyori.
Takemasa: I don’t think anyone here doesn’t think it’s Hiyorin.
Junji: Shh, shh.
Hiyori: …The hell, dude.
Teacher: And now, number one… Kiryu…
Subaru: Oh!
Junji: COULD IT BE ME?
Takemasa: Nuh-uh, it’s me! It’s me, me, me, meee!!
Mitsuki: The camera’s pointing at you.
Takemasa: OHH? OHH?? OHH??? ♡ ♡
Tumblr media
Teacher: Number one is Hiyori.
Tumblr media
Junji and Hiyori: Whoo!!
Mitsuki: He looks so happy he’s going to cry!
Takemasa: Crybaby! Crybaby!
Hiyori: I’m… I’m speechless…
Takemasa: What score’d he get?
Teacher: He earned a score of 82.
Tumblr media
Number 1: Isshiki Hiyori Kiryu (Bassist)
Average class score: 54
Japanese: 16 Math: 20 Science: 20 Social Studies: 13 English: 13 Total: 82
Voices: Wow! That’s a high score!
Teacher: AND THAT ENDS THE PORTION WHERE YOU RECEIVE PRAISE.
Tumblr media
Takemasa: His face! His faaace!
Mitsuki: The rest is all downhill from here.
Teacher: Now, I’d like to examine your results.
Japanese test results
Teacher: We’ll start with Japanese. First, you were asked to fill in the blanks from a four-kanji compound word.
②二(_____)三(_____)
Teacher: Two… space… three… space. I would have accepted 二束三文/nisoku sanmon (dirt cheap) or 二人三脚/ninin sankyaku (three-legged race).
Subaru: Ohhh.
Teacher: 二転三転/niten santen (changing back and forth) would have been acceptable as well. However, unfortunately… Codomo Dragon’s meN-meN.
meN-meN: Yes?
Teacher: You kind of went off-track.
meN-meN’s answer: 二人三客/futari sankyaku (It’s close to one of the correct answers, but he used the wrong kanji for “kyaku” so instead of “three-legged” it’s “three guests”, making a compound of “two people, three guests”)
Teacher: What… what exactly does this mean?
meN-meN: I started to write “leg” and then I erased it.
Teacher: Next.
②酒(_____)肉(_____)
Teacher: Liquor… blank… meat… blank. The answer is 酒池肉林/shuchi nikurin (a plentiful feast, literally “a lake of liquor and forest of meat”). Of course, the kanji for lake…
Subaru: Lake! Lake! It’s lake?!
Teacher: Yes. It’s “池/chi” as in “lake,” not “地/ji” as in “ground.” Several of you got this wrong. It’s a lake of liquor and a forest of meat. That being said… there was a somewhat… grotesque answer. I mean, I get where you were coming from. Kuina of Royz.
Kuina’s answer: 酒地肉輪 (shuji nikurin. A ground full of liquor and a wheel of meat)
Laughter.
Hiyori: What’s a wheel of meat?
Teacher: Would you care to explain?
Kuina: Well, you understand what I meant.
Teacher: There was one more from Royz. Koudai. This is a gluttonous answer.
Koudai’s answer: 酒飲肉食/sakenomi nikushoku (Carnivorous drunkard)
Laughter.
Subaru: Wow! Amazing!
Kana: That’s a good phrase.
Subaru: He’s not wrong! He’s not wrong! He’s not wrong!
Hiyori: I’ve heard that saying before and I’d say he’s correct.
Mitsuki: You’re just talking about food.
Teacher: It is easy to understand. Moving on to the next question, filling in the blank.
③顔に(_____)をぬる
Teacher: A face covered in (blank). The correct answer is 顔に泥をぬる/kao ni doro wo nuru (literally “a face covered in mud,” which means someone who is disgraced). I saw many different answers here. First, Chamu.
Chamu: Yes?
Teacher: This was Chamu’s answer.
Chamu’s answer: 顔に土をぬる/kao ni tsuchi wo nuru (a face covered in dirt)
Subaru: Close! Close!
Mitsuki: I suppose mud used to be dirt.
Chamu: I was in the right realm.
Junji: That’s just so close!
Hayato: Just add water and you got yourself a good answer.
Teacher: It looks like you were going to add something else after dirt.
Scattered agreement.
Teacher: Next, there was an answer that was maybe a little too wet. Kuina, your answer was…
Kuina’s answer: 顔に沼をぬる/kao ni numa wo nuru (a face covered in a swamp)
Mitsuki: Ohh, that’s close again!
Subaru: I don’t know…
Kuina: It’s a good answer.
Teacher: That would be really drippy.
Teacher: Alright, number four, please write the following words inside the brackets in their proper kanji.
Subaru: I’m glad.
Teacher: This was maybe a little difficult. These questions are all having to do with your bands.
④ (1) 己龍、唯のボーカル(クロサキマヒロ)/ Kiryu’s ordinary vocalist (Kurosaki Mahiro)
Teacher: So, please write “Kurosaki Mahiro” in kanji. Next.
④ (2) Royzの(シップウジンライ)はライブで盛り上がる / Everyone is excited when Royz performs (Shippuu Jinrai) at concerts.
④ (3) コドモドラゴンの(シュラ)はかっこいい / Codomo Dragon’s (Shura) is awesome.
Teacher: Well, everyone… I thought it would be great if you could all at least answer questions about yourselves, but… anyhow, number one, Kiryu’s ordinary vocalist, Kurosaki Mahiro… Kiryu’s junior BPR member, Chamu…
Chamu: Yeah?
Mahiro begins giggling.
Answer: 黒崎眞弥 (Note: Only half of the participants got this question correct)
Teacher: Kurosaki Mahiro. Many, many of you got this wrong. Hiro is written with “弥“ (extreme), not “広” (wide, commonly used in boys’ names). Anyhow, Chamu, your answer…
Chamu’s answer: 黒崎真矢 (Kurosaki is correct, and while the “ma” he used means the same thing as Mahiro’s real kanji, truth, it’s wrong [眞vs.真]. For “hiro” he wrote “arrow” and it kind of looks like he wrote “Kurosaki Maya.”)
Teacher: Maya.
Laughter.
Kana: Really?
Chamu: Well… I thought “hiro” was… was written with the kanji that was normally pronounced “ya”…
Junji: That’s right, it’s (弥) usually pronounced “ya.”
Chamu: …So when I thought, “What kanji is pronounced ‘ya’?” I thought it had to be “arrow”.
Junji: BUT “ARROW” IS NEVER PRONOUNCED “HIRO”!!
Teacher: Alright, alright. Obviously, you’re not even from the same band, so it can be excused. It’s not something you regularly have to think about. That being said… Mahiro.
Junji: It’s him! It’s him!
Someone: Your own name…?
Teacher: Let’s look at Mahiro’s own answer.
Tumblr media
Kurosaki kind of sloppily written, “ma” isn’t 100% correct, and “hiro” is backwards.
Laughter.
Takemasa: It’s your own name!!
Junji: What were you thinking!?
Subaru: What is that?
Mahiro: My name is really difficult.
Takemasa: This is your seventh year being Kurosaki Mahiro, your seventh year!
Mahiro: I don’t actually often get the chance to write it by hand. Before now, I’ve written it once, maybe twice.
Teacher: That’s not much!
Mahiro: I mean, I’ve written it before, when I decided on it, but since then I’ve sort of forgotten how to write it.
Hiyori: What did you do when you had to write your name at the top of the test?
Mahiro: Yeah, at the top, that was the first time I tried writing it in kanji.
Teacher: Oh, yes, that reminds me. Let’s take a look at what you did at the top of your test.
Tumblr media
Name: Kurosaki Mma hi Mahior (and spelled out phonetically above).
Junji: You messed up your own name!!
Hiyori: And to the left, when he wrote “Kiryu”, too…
It’s written sloppily.
Takemasa: Where you wrote your name, to the far right… isn’t that the Chinese version?
Translator’s note: No.
Mahiro: I can’t remember how to write “弥” no matter what!
Hiyori: Yeah, the right side is where the left should be…
Teacher: That’s right, it’s backwards…
Mahiro: No! That’s right!
Mitsuki: No.
Subaru: No, it isn’t!
Teacher: Moving on, number two. Everyone is excited when Royz performs (Shippuu Jinrai) at concerts. This was kind of difficult…
Junji: Can anyone get that right?
Teacher: Yes, some did get it.
Voices: Ohh.
Takemasa: Only a genius.
Teacher: Yes, it was only a few. The answer is “疾風迅雷“ (Lightning Speed).
Subaru: Oh, close, close.
Junji: Oh, I reversed those two…
Teacher: Okay, first, Royz’s Subaru. You were… correct.
Subaru: RAWWWWWRR!!
Teacher: However, your three bandmates…
Subaru: Hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey!
Takemasa: Who wrote the lyrics?
Subaru raises his hand.
Takemasa: Oh, it was you, Subaru.
Hiyori: Then that makes sense that he’d get it.
Someone: Don’t forget, Mahiro got his own name wrong.
Mahiro: THERE’S A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WRITING LYRICS AND WRITING A NAME!
Teacher: Okay, okay. Tomoya of Royz, you wrote this:
Tomoya’s answer: 疾風人来 / Shippuu Jinrai (”Shippuu” is correct, but “Jinrai” is not. Together, he wrote: a strong wind of people approaching.)
Laughter.
Subaru: Who’s coming?
Tomoya: I got “shippuu”, though.
Teacher: Moving on, Kuina. Kuina wrote…
Tumblr media
“Wind” and “Lightning” are correct. For “Jin,” he writes “Benevolence”. Hiyorin, master of kanji, leans in and frowns, trying to read it.
Subaru: I can’t read the first one.
Teacher: Last, Koudai. Again, it’s hard to read.
Tumblr media
I don’t think the first one is a kanji, and the second one is unreadable, but I’m assuming it’s supposed to be 風, which is correct, though it’s really sloppy. “Jin” is wrong (people), but “rai” (lightning) is correct. It kind of looks like ~~people lightning.
Subaru: WHAT IS THAT?
Mitsuki: Are you trying to hit people with lightning?
Teacher: Well, the vocalist wrote the lyrics and he can remember what he wrote, so I guess it’s okay. However, Mahiro…
Mahiro: Yes?
Teacher: I think you tried to write it… What you wrote instead was…
Mahiro’s answer: 波風神雪 / nami kaze kami yuki (Waves of wind and the god of snow. It looks very grand)
Laughter.
Mahiro: Yep, that’s a big mistake. I couldn’t remember “shippuu” for the life of me. I’m just bad at kanji.
Subaru: That’ll be our new song, new song!
Hayato: And “snow” at the end!
Junji: Shouldn’t that be pronounced “Hafuu Jinsetsu”?
Mahiro: Heyy, let’s make that the name of our next tour!
Teacher: It does indeed look like the name of a new single.
Tumblr media
Hafuu Jinsetsu, The God of Snow Comes on Waves of Wind. New Single by Kiryu.
Teacher: [Number three], Codomo Dragon’s (Shura) is awesome. Shura’s kanji is “修羅”, meaning a scene of carnage.
Note: “Shura” is taken from the name “Ashura,” the fighting demon from Buddhism.
Teacher: Half of you got this right. Mitsuki of Kiryu.
Mitsuki: Yes?
Teacher: Shura…
Mitsuki: Yes?
Teacher: I understand what you wanted to say. You wrote this.
Mitsuki’s answer: 酒羅 / shura (he replaced the first kanji with the kanji for “alcohol")
Everyone laughs.
Subaru: Scary! Scary!
Mitsuki: Yeah, well… I mean… ain’t it?
Subaru: No, it’s a different kind of scary!
Mitsuki: Well, either way you look at it, it’s violent. A scene of carnage is scary, and…
Takemasa: Yeah, getting drunk and brawling is kind of scary, too.
Teacher: Alright, last.
Please use the following word in a short sentence: あたかも / atakamo (as if, as it were, as though, at that moment, right then, just then)
Teacher: So use the word “atakamo” appropriately in a sentence. There were many things you could have put for this that would have been correct. Most of you wrote appropriate answers. However, Mahiro of Kiryu…
Mahiro stares blankly back for a moment, then looks down at his paper in surprise.
Mahiro: Oh, but I’m pretty confident in my answer…
Teacher: Is that so? Well, I got kind of a… scifi vibe from your answer.
Laughter.
Junji: You used a scifi example in your sentence during a Japanese test?
…is… is that bad?…
Teacher: Let’s take a look.
Mahiro’s answer: At that moment, yes… it suddenly made its appearance.
Wild laughter.
Mahiro: Well, when you say “at that moment,” that’s just the first thing I thought…
Hiyori: Waaaait…
Teacher: Well, just take a look here…
Junji: I can’t believe that’s your answer!
Teacher: Exactly what are you looking at?
Subaru: I wanna know now.
Mahiro: But I used it appropriately.
Subaru: It’s not wrong, it’s not wrong.
Mitsuki: If it’s just a matter of grammar…
Mahiro: At least give me a “close” and don’t mark it wrong completely…
Teacher: Uhh, well… yeah, I guess.
Voices: He guesses!
Laughter.
Teacher: And with that, the Japanese portion of the test is finished. Now, I’d like to announce the ranking. First, out of 20 points, the top score was 18. This score belongs to… Junji.
Everyone: Ohhh!
Applause.
Teacher: However. However. The lowest score… three of you received only eight points. Royz’s… Kuina and Koudai.
Junji gestures to Mahiro.
Junji: Aaaand?
Teacher: Kiryu’s Mahiro.
Mahiro: Whaaaaat? Well, I guess our band is well-balanced.
Mitsuki: Well, I guess we’ll forgive you since we have both the highest-scoring and lowest-scoring people on our team.
Kuina: Didn’t you live abroad?
Mahiro: Yes, yes, yes.
Subaru: His parents are Filipino.
Caption: He’s agreeing.
Takemasa: That’s a big, fat lie.
Teacher: Japanese is finished.

Tumblr media
“You know I can't answer this question my dear”, Hiyori said, standing in the attic of Kofuku's house, getting ready for the big day that had finally arrived.
Kofuku and Bishamon had managed to reach Okuninushi and asked him if he could be holding Yato and Hiyori's marriage. He agreed, given the fact that he thought highly of Yato ever since he had risked his life, jumping into the underworld in order to save Ebisu's previous incarnation. Even though he couldn't save him, he respected Yato for his effort and happily agreed to be holding his marriage. After they got him to agree to their request, the only thing that was left to organize was a location.
Kofuku didn't hesitate to offer her garden as a place for the ceremony and since it had always been a place for all of them to meet for any kind of occasion, it was settled.
“What do you mean you can't answer this question mum?”, Tsuki asked irritated, “Do you want to wear the short or the long veil? That's not a hard question at all!”
“I can't decide!”, the bride whined, “Can't you just pick for me dear?”
“It's your marriage not mine!”, Tsuki mocked her mother, who finally had enough and let herself fall on a chair next to the big mirror Kofuku had bought especially for this day.
Since Hiyori was getting ready for 'the biggest moment in her entire life', she needed to have a good view on herself before she would face Yato.
“You are really nervous aren't you mum?”, Tsuki asked and couldn't help but smile. “Of course I am! I'm going to get married in a few minutes! How couldn't I be nervous?”
“You know mum, what you just said reminded me of something”, Tsuki suddenly got all nostalgic.
“What do you mean?”
“The answer you just gave me. 'You know I can't answer this question my dear.' You used to say those words to me ever since I can remember. Every time I asked you about my dad. I was so sick of hearing that answer to be completely honest. I mean, all I wanted was to know why I couldn't meet my father and you never gave me an explanation. I wasn't able to understand why you kept it a secret from me all this time. Now I understand. So much has changed since then. It's been about a year since I ran into dad on the street but … It feels like I'm living in an entirely new world now. Well … I kinda am living in another world. Being half human, half god and who knows maybe even part Ayakashi. That still sounds so strange. But I am happier than I could ever have imagined and I can see that you are happy as well. I noticed how much you were hurting during the time dad was gone and when you thought you'd never see him again. I understand how you felt. I don't want for you to be sad like that again. I want you and dad to be happy. I want for all of us to be happy as a family.”
Tsuki gave her mother a warm smile. Hiyori had listened to every word, being reminded of the twelve years she had been alone with Tsuki. Inside her head she saw pictures of every single time Tsuki had asked her about her father and the sad and disappointed look on her face whenever Hiyori told her that she couldn't answer her question. There were no words to describe how much it had hurt to see her daughter like this. But all that was in the past now.
“Oh dear, now you are making me cry even before the ceremony has started!”, Hiyori said, trying to prevent tears from streaming down her face.
She held out her arms in order to embrace her daughter.
“Alright, give me the long veil, I've decided”, Hiyori said after their hug.
“About time you did!”, Tsuki smiled and got her mother what she had been asking for.
Right after their conversation, Kofuku came and told them that they should hurry up since the marriage would be beginning in a few minutes.
“Yato what's up with you?”, Yukine asked annoyed.
“What do you mean what's up? Everything is alright!”, the god answered as if Yukine had been accusing him to be doing something completely strange.
“Everything is wrong with you! You are not going to wear your fluffy fluff scarf on the day you are getting married!”, Yukine ordered.
“BUUUT YUKINEEEEEEEEE! I need it!”, Yato whined.
“NO!”
“GIVE IT BAAAAACK!”
“Dude, you are going to look like an idiot with that thing!”
“I don't care!” “You are not wearing it!”
“YUKINEEEEEEEEE!”
“NO!”
Their little fight continued for a few more minutes until Yukine threatened to destroy Yato's scarf once and for all.
On his knees, the blue eyed god admitted his defeat in the most dramatic way possible.
“Don't act like that you jerk!”, Yukine mocked his master, “Why are you so freakin' nervous? Shouldn't you be happy?”
“Of course I'm nervous! I'm going to marry Hiyori!”
“You two already have a daughter, there is nothing to worry about man, just relax. It's your big day!”
Yato sighed. He knew that there was no reason for him to be nervous at all and yet, there he was, shaking like a scared child.
“Hey, come on Yato”, Yukine said, putting a hand on his master's shoulder, “Being nervous is alright. I bet Hiyori is nervous as well. But don't let that ruin everything! You two have been through a lot together and you deserve to have this special day!”
“Yukineeee!”, Yato cried, trying to hug Yukine but the young Shinki managed to get out of the god's reach just in time.
“Hey man, are you ready? The ceremony is about to start!”, Daikoku entered the kitchen where Yato was getting ready.
“What? Now? So soon? Yukine help me! You are my guidepost, what should I do?!?”, Yato's panic got even worse.
“Okay I'm through with this bullshit”, the Hafuri said, grabbed his master at the ear and dragged him outside.
The garden was decorated with all kinds of flowers and fairy lights that would be guaranteeing a beautiful atmosphere as soon as the sun had set and the party would be continuing even during the late evening and night. Of course Kofuku had been responsible for everything involving the decorations and no one dared to take this task away from the goddess of poverty.
Daikoku had spent days to research and prepare a buffet that would blow everyone's mind and he also baked a beautiful wedding cake that he couldn't wait to present to all the guests and especially Yato and Hiyori.
Chairs were set up in front of an arch where Okuninushi was waiting for the couple he was about to make husband and wife.
Everyone had already sat down on their chairs, waiting for the couple to finally arrive and the ceremony to start.
All of their friends from the far shore where there as well as Hiyori's family and friends from the living world.
Her parents and her brother were sitting next to Ebisu and his Shinki, as far away from Kofuku as possible. Even though Hiyori loved Kofuku, she didn't want to risk that her disastrous aura could spread on to her parents and cause any trouble for them or the hospital.
Hiyori's father was not among the guests just now though, since he was waiting to guide his daughter to her fiancé.
Since they had told Mr. and Mrs. Iki about everything, they had stayed in contact in order to remain their memories of Yato and the others from the far shore.
Hiyori had told them to call or visit whenever they started to forget things and that was what they had done up until now.
They also set up a few pictures of everyone in their house as help for them to remind them of the god and the Shinki.
They did the same things for Ami and Yama in order for Hiyori's friends to remember her new family members.
The two of them were also invited and sitting among gods and Shinki. Abe, Yama's husband and their son where also invited and that caused a lot of confusion for the poor human man.
Since he had not been introduced to the whole far shore thing, he had trouble seeing most of the people that were gathered here and no one told him exactly what was going on until at one point, he just gave up on asking and watched what this day had in store for him.
Before Yato went up to Okuninushi where he would be waiting for Hiyori, he greeted everyone as friendly as he could in his current state of panic. Of course everyone noticed his nervousness, telling him to relax.
But no matter how hard he tried, there was no way that he could not be nervous.
After Yato had greeted everyone of their guests, he went to the arch and stood next to Okuninushi and Yukine who he had asked to be his groomsman.
Of course the blonde Shinki wouldn't admit it in front of Yato but he was really touched when his master asked him to do this task.
He wanted to be his guiding light even during his marriage and that was what he would be doing.
That was what he had done the last few days whenever Yato had one of his panic attacks.
“Ready for the big moment?”, Okuninushi asked friendly.
“I … I … y-yes!”, Yato stuttered.
“Haha, shakin' in ya boots aren't cha?”, the tall god laughed.
“H-How did you know I was wearing my boots?”
“You can't be serious dude!”, Yukine interrupted angrily.
During the whole mess about the fluffy fluff scarf, he hadn't noticed that Yato was actually wearing his old worn out boots all this time.
“Hey you wouldn't let me wear my fluffy fluff, so I needed something else to feel comfortable in!”
“Oh whatever, you are hopeless”, Yukine gave up but couldn't hold back a smile about the fact that this was so much like Yato.
While they were talking, Kofuku came running from the house and positioned herself opposite Yato and Yukine.
Hiyori had asked her to be her bridesmaid, what had brought the pink haired goddess to tears.
She wouldn't have thought Hiyori would ask her of all people since she always spread disaster wherever she went but the half Ayakashi shook off her concerns, saying that after all they have been through, there was nothing that could possibly go wrong.
Now that Kofuku was here, it could only mean Hiyori was ready and the ceremony was about to start.
Soon enough, everyone's head turned around, awaiting the bride's arrival.
“Dad!”, Hiyori said as she left the house just around the corner where the others were waiting.
“You look beautiful my dear!”, her father said.
His daughter was standing in front of him and he was looking at his little princess dressed in her beautiful white dress.
He could tell that she was nervous right away and gave her a warm comforting smile.
“I think you are next in consoling mum now grandpa!”, Tsuki laughed, “I gotta go and get the rings!”
And just like that, Tsuki left, jumping up and down as she disappeared around the corner.
“Are you ready?”, Mr. Iki asked.
Hiyori wanted to say something but as soon as she opened her mouth, the words were gone.
“You are just as nervous as I was when your mother and I got married. I know that marrying is a big step but there is nothing to be afraid of my dear. This isn't going to change anything about the relationship you and Yato have. If anything it's only going to make it  deeper from now on.”
He held out his arm in order for Hiyori to take it and lead her to the man that would be taking care of his daughter from this day onward.
“Thank you dad!”, Hiyori said and hugged her father before taking his arm.
It was time.
Music started to play when Hiyori and her father turned around the corner and made their way to Yato, Yukine, Kofuku and Okuninushi.
The way wasn't long but this moment felt like an eternity for Yato and Hiyori.
The blue eyed god saw her in her wedding dress for the first time and he found himself breathless at the sight of it.
She was so beautiful.
Hiyori was the most beautiful person he had ever seen and tears appeared in his eyes as they exchanged a happy look.
The smile on her face when she saw him gave him such a warm feeling that he thought he might burst any second.
“Breathe dude!”, Yukine whispered.
When the bride and her father reached their destination, Hiyori kissed her father on the cheek before he placed her hand in Yato's.
“You better take good care of her!”, Mr. Iki said before he went to his chair next to his wife who had already started to wipe away tears with a tissue.
Standing next to each other, looking in each others' eyes, Yato and Hiyori smiled and started to blush.
Not because of embarrassment but rather because of their overwhelming feelings right at this very moment.
Okuninushi cleared his throat to catch their attention before he started the ceremony.
The god held a heartwarming speech about Yato and Hiyori's love story.
How they came from two different worlds and overcame a lot of hardships and grief.
How everything looked like their relationship was one that was not meant to be but together they proved this fact to be wrong.
How they found each other again after many years of separation which was not strong enough to end their love for each other.
And of course, how happy their family and friends were for the two of them to finally make this connection official at this beautiful day.
Yato who had been fighting with tears the whole day, had once again trouble trying to hold them back during this speech but he had to keep it together since it was now time to exchange the rings and their vows.
Tsuki was waiting at the end of the little way that lead to the arch where her parents were waiting for her to deliver the rings that would be the symbol of their connection. Just like Tsuki was connecting the two of them.
She held a small pillow that had the rings positioned on it.
Yato and Hiyori watched proudly as Tsuki made her way to them and was holding out the rings for her parents.
Yato was the first one to take the ring and place it on Hiyori's finger.
His hands were shaking as he took Hiyori's hand and was about to put on the ring.
“Um... Yato”, she said, “That's the wrong finger!”
Yato blushed as he apologized and put the ring on the right finger while he could hear giggling coming from the crowd.
“W-With this ring, I take you as my wife! I promise you that I will always be there for you throughout the good and the bad times. I promise you that I will never leave you ever again. I'm going to protect you and our family with everything I have. I still remember how we first met. This one faithful day when our eyes found each other on the street and how you tried to safe me from that bus. I think I can literally say that you knocked me out the first time I saw you. Ever since then, you stuck with me even though I was an idiot who tried to push you away. You stayed with me because you wanted me to fix your condition but I kept on putting it off because I didn't know what to do. Thanks to you I met Yukine who became my Hafuri and soon enough, we all became the best friends. You saved me so many times. Not only from actually dying but also from myself. Thanks to you I learned how it felt to truly and unconditionally love someone. The time without you was the hardest thing I ever had to experience and I was the biggest idiot for putting you through so much grief. When I learned that we had a daughter I couldn't have been happier! We found each other again thanks to Tsuki and I will be grateful for that for as long as I exist. The last year put us through a lot of tests and hardships but we stuck together and got over it. From now on, I will be by your side and be your strength. I love you!”
Smiling and with tears in her eyes, Hiyori took the second ring and also slowly put it on Yato's finger.
“With this ring, I take you as my husband. Now and forever, I want to be by your side. I promise that I will be there for you just like you will be there for me. I will be there whenever you start doubting yourself again. No matter how often I have to remind you that I won't leave you or how often I have to tell you that you need to stop blaming everything bad that's happening to yourself. I will gladly be there to tell you about all the wonderful things you have done. You always manage to put a smile on my face whenever I need it. You are there for me to lean on whenever I feel sad and you presented me the most beautiful gift I could imagine when Tsuki was born. I can't even imagine to be without you ever again! I want to spend every day of my life, how long that may or may not be, with you! I want to fall asleep next to you and wake up just to see you smile at me first thing in the morning. You make me so happy every single moment that we spend together and for nothing in the world would I want to change that. Without you, I feel like something inside of me is missing. I love you Yato! Forever!”
After their vows, Kofuku and Tsuki already burst out crying and held on to each other while the other guests were riding down an emotional roller coaster.
“Well then”, Okuninushi continued, “Time for the most important part! Yato god, do you take Hiyori Iki as your wife?”
“I do!”, Yato answered.
“And Hiyori Iki, do you take the Yato god as your husband?”
“Yes! Yes I do!”, she said.
“Then I hereby declare you husband and wife!”
Okuninushi's words were followed by applause among their friends. They were happily cheering and wiping away tears from a few moments before.
Hiyori and Yato smiled at all the people celebrating their big moment.
“You may now kiss the bride!”, the blonde god said, leaning forward and giving Yato an Hiyori a jerkish smile.
The two of them turned around to face each other and got closer. Just when their lips were about to touch, both started blushing like they always did during such a moment.
“Hey you two!”, Daikoku yelled.
“Get it together already!”, Yukine joined him.
“You are husband and wife now after all!”, Kofuku said.
“So stop acting like teenagers!”, Tsuki gave them a smile.
Both of them had to laugh before they finally shared a tender kiss that was loudly celebrated by everyone.
“Husband and wife … Sounds like something I could get used to”, Hiyori admitted, her voice low so only Yato could hear her as their foreheads remained pressed against each other after their kiss.
“It does!”, Yato admitted and leaned in for another kiss.
It didn't take long until the emotional mood from the ceremony was replaced by a joy filled party with everyone sitting around tables that Kazuma, Kuraha, Daikoku, Kunimi and Yukine had arranged and positioned the chairs around after the main part of the marriage was over.
They had hungrily eaten the delicious food Daikoku had prepared and he watched proudly as everyone enjoyed it.
When it was time for dessert and the giant Shinki brought the wedding cake, Yato called for Sekki in order to cut the cake.
The young boy struggled and screamed that this was not his purpose as a weapon but in the end he played along after being promised the first piece of the dessert.
Tsuki was jumping around happily, talking to all the people who were gathered in the beautifully decorated garden.
Bishamon of course couldn't resist and followed the little girl around as often as she could until she got caught up in a conversation with Ebisu, Tenjin and Okuninushi.
Yukine was surrounded by the other Shinki and like always, they were spoiling him with compliments and admiring looks because of his Hafuri status.
Hiyori's parents and her friends had formed a group as well and were caught in their conversation.
Kazuma and Masaomi also seemed to be getting along surprisingly well. They were having a nice talk about subjects no one else understood but as long as they had fun, it would be alright.
Slowly, the day was coming to an end.
The sun started to set, covering the garden in a beautiful golden light. It almost felt as if Amaterasu herself was trying to send them her congratulations through this breathtaking sunset.
Yato and Hiyori only had eyes for each other the entire day and now that the sun had set and the fairy lights were glowing in the trees and music was playing, it was time to dance.
Bishamon insisted on dancing with Kazuma who was as red as a tomato but enjoyed the dance nevertheless.
Kofuku was holding on to Daikoku tightly as they slowly spun around to the rhythm of the music.
Tsuki had actually managed to convince Yukine to dance with her, causing the boy to blush of embarrassment.
Hiyori's parents were enjoying themselves as well while Ami and Yama had already left since Yama and Abe's son needed to go to sleep.
Ebisu was sitting on Kunimi's shoulders, his shoelaces untied,  as his guidepost pulled off some awesome dance moves.
And of course in the middle of them all, Yato and Hiyori were enjoying themselves. Hiyori's head was resting on Yato's shoulders who had placed his head on top of her's. Both of them had their eyes closed and were caught up in their own little world.
“We did good work don't you think?”, Kofuku asked Tsuki who had been watching her parents.
“Yes!”, she answered, being happy beyond words.
“You two aren't coming up with another awesome plan to mess with their relationship aren't you?”, Yukine asked, his arms crossed in front of his chest.
“Of course not!”, the two girls answered in unison.
“Just look at them! They are so happy!”, Kofuku explained.
“There is nothing for us to do anymore. I couldn't have wished for a better happy ending to our story!”, Tsuki smiled.
“You make it sound like this is the end of everything”, Yukine said, “Don't worry Tsuki, this is only the beginning!”
“What a day”, Yato said as he, Hiyori, Yukine and Tsuki were finally back home and he had carried Hiyori inside like a husband was supposed to do it.
“What a day indeed”, Hiyori agreed.
“Well, it was about time for you two to get married! I mean … you started dating years ago, broke up, got a daughter and started dating again? Your relationship is totally out of order if you ask me!”, Yukine complained in a joking way.
“The normal way would be boring anyway don't you think?”, Hiyori giggled.
“Yeah! I mean it's not like we ever did something that could be considered 'normal'”, Yato joined his wife, “Also, life doesn't always go the way you plan! Sometimes it takes you twelve years and a twelve year old girl trying to save you from a falling potted plant to realize that you made a mistake.”
Tsuki smiled warmly as Yato's, Hiyori's and Yukine's eyes were resting on the blue eyed girl.
“Well what can I say?”, she laughed, “As fate would have it!”

THE END
108553 Words...
45 Chapters...
And 4 Story plots later...
As Fate would have it has officially come to an end.
A story that came to life during a Noragami-hiatus and now is ending during another one.
It's been a long journey that has now ended. This fan fiction is the first thing that I've seen through until the very end. For the first time I've written a story that is that long without giving up on it half way through. And that's all thanks to all my precious readers that joined me on this long trip. Thank you all so much for being here with me! I can't put it into words how much that means to me! There were a lot of times when I thought I wouldn't be able to post the update when I was supposed to do it but thanks to your motivation, I made it. THANK YOU! <3
A special thanks also goes to my little Beta turtle Rin-chan! Thank you so much for keeping up with my stupid mistakes and the abominations of sentences that I produced throughout this series 'xD. Thanks for keeping up with all the random dots and apostrophes and everything stupid that I did. Thanks for listening to my ideas and help me with my plotting! This story wouldn't be what it is without you! <3 Another Thanks to my friend Morgan for helping me come up with a name way back when I first had the idea for As fate would have it! Without you I wouldn't have come up with this great name! <3
Now that the story is told and I have to say goodbye to my baby, I wanted to talk a little about Tsuki and how everything started.
Almost a year ago, on June 5th 2016, a little girl was born.
Everything started with me spending a day doodling random things because I had no idea what I wanted to do.
When suddenly I accidentally created this little blue eyed girl. The very first time I drew Tsuki.

I didn't know her name back then and neither that she would grow so much on me.
When I looked at the sketch, I thought: “mhmmm... this looks like it could be Yato and Hiyori's daughter!” and that was the moment the idea for As fate would have it got stuck in my brain.
After this first thought, I kept on getting ideas for a whole story and I couldn't let go of it. First I thought, well I don't think this would be interesting, so I tried to leave it be.
But I couldn't.
The ideas kept on piling up and so I decided to ask you guys if you would like to hear Tuki's story.
And you wanted to!
That's when everything started.
Tsuki started to grow as a character and she got more real with every passing chapter and now, I can't imagine what I would have done without this little accident during a summer day last year.
It doesn't even feel like I have created her anymore. It's more like, she wanted to be created and didn't give up until I took my pencil and gave her a face.
Okay now that everyone thinks I'm crazy it's time to wrap this up. xD
Tsuki will always be in my heart and I'm NOT READY to let go at all. But it's time.
Time to say goodbye.
Until we meet again little girl, I will miss you!
