We may not be in an eclipse any more but the moon will continue to hang out all day in the sign of Libra so the energies are still being felt. We also don’t have any other major aspects today so we’re still in process mode and letting go of this past cycle.

Today is a good day to rest if you can and continue to reflect on what’s most important in your life. The sun in Aries has us asking what our needs are and the moon in Libra asks us to also evaluate our needs in our relationships. Where is there harmony and balance in the two?

Quiet Time

Tuesday - February 27, 2024

Put this time frame on your calendar: Tuesday, February 27, 1:21pm ET to Wednesday, February 28, 10:09pm.

This is a 32-hour, 48-minute Moon Void of Course period, the longest that I recall seeing in my career as an astrologer. I'm not saying there hasn't been one that's longer, I'm saying I don't recall it.

If you can imagine it possible for the Moon to go "retrograde," a Void of Course period is like that for the Moon. It's a period of time when the Moon is not engaged in an EXACT alignments with the planets (mathematical calculations like the Nodes are not included). Your emotions are tethered and get the opportunity to free form, and kind of float around.

This is not a time to make major decisions. New projects started under a VOC Moon don't thrive. Elections held in a VOC Moon have surprises and don't run smoothly. Big decisions you make may not see the success you desire.

This is because the decisions during a VOC Moon can be irrational, overly emotional, and reactive rather than responsive.

However, if you've the mental and emotional intelligence a VOC Moon can also give you great clarity, help you see the "illusion" in the emotional "fog," and clarify your decision making.

Activities that are already underway based on decisions that were made outside of a VOC Moon are OKAY to proceed during this time.

If you're unsure about a project, relationship, life change, or other big decision, my counsel is to use this time to go inward and see what your true motivation is: are you reacting rather than responding?

And if your schedule allows, this is an excellent time for extended meditation, time alone, walks in nature, and taking time away from social media and other electronic media.

This VOC period starts with the Moon in Libra and will end when the Moon moves into Scorpio.

When people think of disruptions in communication and daily activities they think Mercury Retrograde. And while this is true for a lot of people, I find personally that Moon Void of Course is a far more frequent cause of problems in my day-to-day life.

Retrogrades feel fixable in ways that Moon VoC does not. Retrogrades urge you to rethink the actions of that planet, to revisit, revise, and redo that planet's usual rulership over the time of the retrograde from it entering the retrograde shadow to when it finally leaves that shadow after the retrograde. Those delays bring important lessons and can recoup or rebound.

Moon VoC however, for those unfamiliar, is the period when the moon makes no major transits until the ingress into the next sign. It is essentially in the void with no life-line. Matters started in a Moon VoC will often have nothing come of them. They too are lost in the void. For better or worse. In particular emotional responses are blunted during this time. You may not feel outrage when you should, for example.

Now, of course this is mitigated if it is passing a natal (or, major progression) planet in your chart, for then in your personal life it is not void (tho likely is for others/the world at large).

Not that this doesn't have its uses! As mentioned it often manifests as a blunting of emotional response, and this can be handy if you need to get something challenging out of the way, as long as you are willing to have the outcome possibly not matter.

MOON VOID- OF--COURSE:

 As the Moon passes through the last degrees of a sign where the Moon resides,  it eventually forms the final aspect to a planet before leaving the sign. 

From this point, until the new sign is entered , the aspect is considered Moon void -of-course (V/C).   This can last for a few seconds, minutes, hours or even days.

While this aspect is occurring , it’s wise to avoid making important decisions, judgment will be faulty, unrealistic and problematic because of factors unknown at the time.  New directions likely to be plagued with false starts and errors.  

Actions taken produce unforseen results. Creative efforts going in unexpected directions.  Contracts promises and new laws bring difficulties.   Purchases prone to be not as advertised or expected, not fulfilling intentions.  

Any routines involving no decisions go well, but often need correction later.  Delay and frustrations are common.  Moon void-of-course is a time to relax and go with the flow.  Avoid being involved in things that are not of a spiritual center,  e.g ., materialistic.  ‘For example Richard Nixon nominated during Moon void-of-course and re-elected during Moon void-of-course.

Once the Moon enters the next sign, it’s no longer void-of-course. 

If time has been taken from business in order to focus on relaxation/spiritual growth , everything effectively falls into place.

There will be a Hellenistic Void of Course Moon this weekend

This Friday through Sunday might be a great time for a do-nothing sort of weekend since the Moon will be Hellenistically Void of Course the entire time. This is a different type of VOC than the one we might normally hear about as it doesn’t happen quite as often as the Medieval definition, but sky is stacked to allow it to happen multiple times this year, including this Friday through Sunday afternoon.

What is a Void of Course Moon?

In general, a Void of Course Moon is when the Moon makes no Ptolemaic aspect to one of the other six Traditional planets: Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury. Because the Moon has nothing to translate, she has less energy to maneuver through the darkness and we in the Sublunar sphere have less energy to make world go brr. Typically, this is not considered an ideal time to start new things or to accomplish things as they will lack the substance to be fulfilled.

Definitions of Void of Course

There are two definitions of Void of Course Moon. The more commonly occurring and frequently used in modern day is the Medieval Void of Course which is when the Moon doesn’t aspect any more of the other traditional six planets before she changes signs (Christian Astrology, Lilly), and is one of the Considerations Before Judgement in Horary Astrology. Inevitably, then, the Moon is Void of Course for some time every three days or so, even if it’s just for a few hours.

The Hellenistic definition is less common. The Moon must be Void of Course - not forming any Ptolemaic aspect with any traditional planet - for a full 30 degrees, or the span of an entire whole sign, and roughly two to three days (Chapter 23, Introduction to the Tetrabiblos, Porphyry).

When is it happening?

This time, The Moon will square Jupiter at 28Pisces from 28Sagittarius on Friday, November 25 at around 2:21pm ET and won’t aspect another Traditional planet until she then forms a sextile with Jupiter from 28Capricorn on Sunday, the 27th at 3:11pm ET.

Thursday, March 14th 2024 Sun in Pisces ♓️🌊 Moon in Taurus ♉️🌍

We start the day rather abruptly today with the Moon in Taurus conjunct Uranus. This can bring on events that cause emotional outbursts or uncharacteristic behavior so try to take it slow and easy this morning.

Luna is also in a square or not getting along with Mars in Aquarius. Our feelings and actions are not seeing eye to eye creating short tempers. If there’s any anger simmering below the surface it could create more irritation or just general feelings of annoyance. A better use of this energy is to focus on desires and goals and work at them alone.

The good news is that the Sun and Neptune in Pisces are playing nice with the Moon in Taurus providing dreamy and intuitive energy. Lean into this today until she goes void of course later this evening where she’s not interacting with any other planets for nearly five hours and the tension calms down. It will be nearly midnight before she enters Gemini here in the Atlantic.

Try to focus on the stable and steady energies of the Moon in Taurus today so emotional outbursts don’t get the best of you.

Pick Your Audience

It's common that when people find a new thing that works for them that they are eager to share it with others. That could be a system of faith, a new way to approach finances, or having found a new love. And while you are eager to share, often times others are not eager to hear. And that can be discouraging, have your doubt the validity of this new thing you've discovered.

Pick your audience. In times past maybe others were willing to give others a bit of their time. But many are now self-focused, living in a world of distraction and self-soothing, and they aren't in the place to hear what you have to say.

This is the teaching of Saturn in Pisces as today it moves to 9°, a place where you are encouraged to act on these deeper spiritual and/or esoteric understandings you have gained. But Saturn encourages discretion, and the awareness that not everyone is suited to be in your audience.

This is when careful thought and meditation will help you determine who is best suited to share with, and what are the right times and circumstances. Your "people" will show up if you wait for Saturn, that has the 30,000 foot view of your world, to put the people, places and things in place.

And some of that meditation starts later tonight (in the US) as the Moon in Leo begins a 21-hour Moon Void of Course that ends when the Moon moves into Virgo at 8:37pm ET US on Friday. Meditate on what you would like to share with others, and confirm for yourself that your desire to share is coming from your heart, and not the ego.

I refer, of course, to the time Buzz Aldrin (age 72 at the time) cold-cocked a moon landing conspiracy theorist straight in his smug face after being accused of being a coward, liar, and thief.

Yes, someone was indeed dumb enough to tell a man so unafraid of death that he was willing to go into the void on a fragile explosive rocket, a coward.

Said dumbass was filming this confrontation as some sort of proof of moon fraud, but has instead captured this glorious moment of near-cosmic justice for us to loop for all time.

Aldrin was not charged with any crime. He should have been given another medal for public service.
