I'm curious. What program do you use to draw and what pencils do you recommend?

hello!! slr i didn’t see this hhhhh i hadn’t checked tumblr in a while bc my app getting all buggy and annoying to open esp when my phone’s all low battery ｡ﾟ(ﾟ´ω`ﾟ)ﾟ｡

but i use my ipad pro and 1st gen apple pencil (1st gen) as both art tools and study tools

the program i’ve been using so far for art is autodesk sketchbook. i’m liking it better compared to my experience with medibang paint (i still keep the app tho, bc a lot of my old digi art is there) ( ；∀；)

i’ve always wanted to try buying art apps like procreate but my dad won’t let me use my money for it (´°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ω°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥｀)

The concept of a demon falling in love with a human was not unknown. Not strange at all. But such a romance was more common for lower level demons. The soon to be king of hell had not planned on falling for a human, let alone the exchange student that served as fuel for his goal. He was taken in by their strange yet charming nature and soon found himself brushing arms with them in his dreams. He had to have them. They would have to accept him.

The time they had spent together allowed for their bond to strengthen. They were happy together, whether it be their naked sweating bodies or just holding hands. Nearing the end of their year, Diavolo was absolutely sure that he had found the one. To him, there would be no other fit to rule by his side. As royal customs would have it, he was to throw a ball in honor of their love and propose to them there.

Strings, wind, and booming percussion played cheerily for the lively golden ballroom and in the center of busily twirling bodies were the prince and his soon to be partner. They shared smiles and laughter together as the room surrounding them faded to a blur. There was nothing but the two of them and the smiles that made their eyes sparkle. The song was just about to end and he moved them down into a low dip at the ending.

He had been so focused that it took him a moment to notice that the room around them had become earily quiet. He looked up from the human's shining eyes to see the bodies that parted like the red sea and at the entrance before him was a figure that he had hoped to never see again.

A towering figure much taller than his own stood motionless at the entrance. His demon form revealed and anger burning in his eyes. His smile was long forgotten by the time the human below him had realized. Their smile slowly started to fade as he brought them back to their feet. They turned to look at the figure that bore holes into their hearts and he took one powerful step forward. Then another. His powerful strides turned to that of a charge for the both of them. Unsure for who he was going after first, Diavolo made it his rightful mission to keep his human safe at all cost. He pushed them aside as the vengeful demon pounced and knocked the prince down, a strong claw on his throat.

"Hello...father," he managed to choke out.

His father made no time for formalities as his hand tightened around his son's throat. He breathed heavily as anger raged inside of him.

"How dare you? How dare you make a mockery of your own bloodline? Are you no better than some lowly demon?"

He roughed out his words with a hoarse voice. Under his hand his son breaths grew lighter and behind it all was the helpless human that should've done nothing but watched. But they couldn't stand idly by as their love looked as though he were dying. They ran to him. Their smaller hands grabbed onto his much larger claw in a poor attempt to loosen him, but all he did was snicker at them. How weak they were.

"You would even choose death than to fight against me. All for some common human that you think you love."

He released his grip on Diavolo's throat only to hold them by theirs. They weighed like a feather in his claw and he lifted them with ease. The more they struggled against him, the quicker air had escaped them. He looked between the human in his grasp that silently gasped for their last breaths of air and the weakened prince that could only look on with wide eyes as he protectively held his neck. His father bellowed a maniacal laughter.

"Look at how weak you have become, my son. You're such an embarrassment."

He rid the human of their last living breath and their body became limp in his claw. The prince's heart broke in two as his cries fell on deaf ears. The happiness, the love that he took the time to help grow and strengthen had been taken away in an instant and there was no way for him to get it back.

I agree with what you said. About the minor stuff. And sometimes I wonder if people read fictional books that talk about stuff dealing with minors:/ lots of the stuff that ppl write in fanfic also happens in well known published books. It doesn't meet that the author supports it.

we consume and enjoy so much morally questionable content without supporting the real life counterpart.

we watch slasher movies and enjoy them, hell some people stan slasher movies. but that doesn't mean they think real life serial killers are fun and neat and stan them too.

people stan and bias villains in anime and tv but that doesn't mean if a person did that irl they'd be like "WELL THATS FINE"

what you enjoy and support in fiction does not mean it's something you support and enjoy in real life.

Are you self taught? Do you have any tips for those who wanna draw as well?

yes i am self-taught! honestly i wouldn’t say i’m the most skilled artist but here’s how i try to approach it… THIS WILL BE REALLY LONG BTW SORRY..

everybody is different, so the drawing advice that helped me might not be the drawing advice that helps you. personally the advice to start with the basics, while it’s actually recommended (i recommend it) never worked for me at the start because by the time i got out of a long drawing rut i was in in high school, i feel like i had lost a lot of time (because i’d get online and everyone was drawing better than me grr). it was really frustrating. so when i actually had the time to draw i decided to draw ideas i had, not spend my free time drawing boring still life figures in order to learn anatomy. so what i did (and still kinda do) is whenever i had the free time i drew what i wanted. this would always be really simple stuff so just characters i wanted to draw on white backgrounds standing up. like link, i’d draw link a lot because he’s my fave character so i WANTED to draw him a lot.  and i’d try to do this as often as possible BECAUSE it was fun. i think not having a lot of followers at this time helped too, because i could focus on the process more as being something fun. at the time even though my drawing process was really inconvenient it was fun to actually do. i tried not to think of my drawing process as something i had to make more efficient and tried to appreciate what i came out with, even if it was something simple that took me literally forever to make. i’d also try to focus on making the art something i liked and not something i thought other people wanted to see. in that way… even when it gets frustrating that i’m not producing “higher quality” things i can still feel that it was enjoyable. once i fell into that routine i started to grow more, thinking “i want to draw more complicated things!” a club at my school offers figure drawing sessions so i started forcing myself to go, or whenever i had art block i would try to do figure drawing studies online LOL they were boring and i didn’t do this for that long but they actually helped my understanding of anatomy enough (it’s still not great) to be like okay i can draw more complex things now… i tried to keep challenging myself. i feel like i can’t dedicate that much time to drawing while in school, so one summer i thought okay i have the time, let me challenge myself and do TWO backgrounds. so i sat down and drew two background pictures. they took me FOREVER, like actually forever to do both of them. but they’re still two of my favourite pieces ever (i drew them in 2018) because i had ideas i wanted to make and i sat down and made them. i know this advice is less about actual tips but i feel like those are so easy to find. things like use references, or practice the basics, or draw from real life. you cannot escape those if you want to get “good”, like objectively good. those are my highest recommendations tips-wise (pros use references, i tend to not but i’m stupid lol please use references)… but that’s just not what i want from art right now. of course i want to be good, but realistically i don’t have the time or energy to dedicate myself to things that won’t be fun in the moment!! so i draw what i want and try to get better each time i do while doing that. i experiment a lot, from piece to piece sometimes.

i feel like something people don’t really discuss enough is the approach to art one should have. i think that will kind of influence how you feel about it and whether it’ll be frustrating or not, and that can really hinder you from getting better like it did with me. art will always be frustrating, but it can be a lot of fun too. it’s a lot of fun for me now, so i naturally want to draw as much as i can now. and whenever i get frustrated that i can’t get an idea out like i pictured in my head i try to do what i can with the “skills” i have to make something i think will be nice. definitely don’t compare yourself to others, especially if their art isn’t in the direction that yours is in. everyone’s art is different, and i find that there are artists who inspire me who happen to have a style that’s similar to mine, or something that is within the realm of what i can do, and i feel inspired to draw and it’s all fine… and then there are artists whose work is so different from mine that aspiring to be like them makes me feel hopeless. maybe that kind of inspiration is good for some people, but the latter is just no good for me and i think continuing to do that to myself really did not help!!!

basically i’d say be patient, drawing frustrated me for a while but it doesn’t have to be that way. if you have the discipline to stick with learning the basics then by all means DO THAT. but if you’re like me and it just makes you feel bad… i feel like this glorification of pain is not so good.. i want art to be fun, i don’t care if light is at the end of the pain tunnel. that just wasn’t working for me, which means my learning will be slower but what’s the rush? 

and don’t compare yourself to others or care too much about what others think of what you draw. you’ll get better! i’m still struggling when it comes to things like perspective and lighting and backgrounds i honestly wing it all the time, but that’s okay! the only person who has to like your art is you.

I recently just started reading the novel for howl's moving castle and when I read how Sophie described Micheal I was shook and happy. So then I checked w the movie and was like Miyazaki why couldn't you do it right? So thank you for creating this blog :)

Miyazaki has his own vision for things. It’s very rare for him to do “faithful” adaptation of anything, and while that’s not necessarily a bad thing overall, it is a bit of a bummer as a fan of the book.
