My College Makeup Essentials
Tumblr media
Happy summer 2018 to me!!! My semester finally ended a week ago and now I’m just so relieved to finally have the time to breathe again. I’ve been completely MIA in this blog for the past few months and it’s mainly because I really focused on my studies (heh) and the blog was left behind.
But hey, now that I have two months to myself (before I start my third year in college - WTF right), I have decided that it’s time to return to blogging. There are a lot of things I’ve been meaning to post, and I’m really excited because I feel like I finally have the time to edit and create again. I’ll start with something light: my college makeup essentials. Back in high school, I never really cared about makeup and skincare and stuff like that. I don’t really know what happened or how it all started, but all of a sudden I was sucked into this black hole of beauty products and I can’t seem to escape.
My makeup routine is pretty minimal, mainly because 1) I’m always running late to my first class of the day, and 2) the weather in the Philippines + the fact that I walk to almost all my classes in UP makes it very difficult for the makeup to stay on my face and not melt off. You can still find me a sweaty mess at the end of the day, but at least I still try. The products listed below are numbered in the way I usually do my makeup every morning. It’s a right balance of drugstore and not-so-drugstore makeup, I would say. These products work for my slightly oily skin and they also manage to survive despite the humid weather in the Philippines. Enjoy!

1. The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream - I really like using this as a daytime moisturizer because it’s hydrating, transparent, and lightweight.
2. Bioré Face Milk SPF 50+ - I never saw sunblock as an essential step in makeup, but after reading multiple articles, I finally caved in. This sunblock is perfect because it’s lightweight and it doesn’t leave any white streaks on my face. I mix this with my moisturizer and apply it on my face before I begin with my makeup.
3. Lucas’ Papaw Ointment - This is my new ride-or-die lip balm, I swear. It’s thick, but it’s not sticky. It’s so moisturizing, and you really feel the difference on your lips. I used to think Burt’s Bees was the best, but after trying this, I think I have found my new favorite. My dry lips have never been happier.
4. Glossier Stretch Concealer in Dark - This jar has been with me since my first year in college, and it’s still here with me until now. This is so seamless on my skin, and it doesn’t feel like I have anything on whenever I use it. It’s really natural-looking and breathable; totally my favorite concealer.
5. L’Oréal Lash Paradise and Maybelline Lash Sensational - I’m still on the hunt for the perfect mascara that won’t smear on my bottom lash line, but so far, these two (kind of) do the trick. The Lash Paradise is good for thick, voluminous lashes, while the Lash Sensational is good for the long yet natural-looking eyelashes. (Still on the lookout for the best waterproof mascara, though)
6. Maybelline Fashion Brow in Brown - Fairly simple. I don’t give my eyebrows that much thought in the morning, so I just use the wax to make my brows look fuller and thicker!
7. Milani Luminoso Blush - This is my new favorite for a healthy-looking glow on the cheeks. It’s both a highlighter and blush, so it really makes my skin look awake and healthy.
8. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal - My new ride-or-die highlighter. This was a gift from a friend, and it blends in beautifully with my morena skin tone. It gives me this glow-from-within kind of highlight, and it just makes me look healthier and more alive. (I need it to look like I had eight hours of sleep when I’ve only had three ha ha ha)
9. The Body Shop Lip & Cheek Stain in 03 Red Pomegranate - The most perfect natural-looking stain, I swear! It stays on forever and it really looks beautifully natural on the lips and cheeks.

10. Pili Tinted Lip Balm in Barely There (Left) - For days when I want to wear something more than a stain but less obvious than a lipstick, this is my go-to item. It’s a reddish-pink balm that really compliments my skin tone. (Also, it’s locally made!)
11. Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipstick in Nude Nuance (Middle) - I use this lipstick for the days when I just feel like wearing a dark nude lipstick. It’s a matte brown nude, but I usually just blot it on my lips since it’s really pigmented when applied directly from the tube.
12. Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me in Slaying It (Right) - This is my MLBB lipstick. It’s close to the natural color of my lips, but it’s just better. It’s this relatively dark, reddish-brown nude that I can’t live without. It’s comfortable to wear and it’s hydrating since it has shea butter in it. (It’s also locally made!)
13. The Face Shop Oil Clear Blotting Pact - I use this to touch up my skin throughout the day. My skin tends to get oily in the afternoon, so I just use this to mattify my T-zone and other parts of my face that need saving. Absolutely life-changing.
Aaaand that’s it! What’s in your makeup bag?
Always,
Tords
