veritas muses’ h*mestuck titles bc i’ve lost control of my life (part 1)
preface: FIRSTLY i’m so sorry for subjecting you all to h*mestuck, but this is an excellent character development exercise that i had so much fun doing. SECONDLY, this is me attempting to psychoanalyze all of your characters, so i’m probably kinda wrong. thirdly, the interpretations of these titles are completely subjective and the product of much conflict within the h*mestuck fandom, so this is just my interpretation jfdkskjfa. i heavily referenced dahni’s analyses, though, and probably plagiarized her a little bit.
includes the following muses: @ofphcenixes, @ohcxssidy, @holdenwoodz, @ofhvney, @virtuosiste, @wingsmelt, @ofcelesticls, @libbykensington, @nevaehporter, @figurchead, @mvgicians, @ofzola
blue is the heir of life. heirs passively change, move around, or alter their aspect, and over time begin to completely embody it. life represents healing, energy, growth, rebellion, and recklessness. as someone who embodies life, blue is energetic, reckless, and optimistic. as exemplified in the downward spiral that marked his teen years, life players have the uncanny ability to regrow, much like a tree after a forest fire (or a phoenix from the ash). they are extremely adaptable, and anything that an heir of life does not see as valid or important, they do away with. (note: an heir of life’s opinion of what is important can be kind of... questionable.) essentially they embody the life aspect, every bit as chaotic and resilient as the natural world, far tougher than many give them credit for.
cassidy is the knight of hope. knights use their aspect as equal parts sword and shield; using them as a tool, and hiding their authentic selves (which they typically see as inadequate) behind their aspects. hope represents faith, motivation, goals, positive emotion, willpower, and possibility. if there’s anyone who uses hope as a tool for the benefit of others, it’s cass. ever since her stepfather died and she had to step up, it seems to me that cass has been putting on airs, acting strong and capable for the sake of her family, assuring everyone she’s certain it will all work out in the end, just be positive. on the inside, though, she’s petrified, and remains that way. on the outside, though, she’s a little cheerleader, supporting all of her loved ones. additionally, the journey of a hope player requires they fall into despair, and, well, thanks to holden’s infidelities, that’s going to happen. it’s usually through these kinds of crises that knights become their authentic selves, to tone down their personas and let their talents speak for themselves.
holden is the rogue of blood. rogues have trouble coping with their aspect or their supposed lack of it, causing them to give it up too easily. blood is the aspect of unity, family, bonds, friendship, and responsibility. from the very beginning, holden has found it difficult to be part of any group, rejected by his family from a very early age, and even though he easily grows to love people, to care for people, i don’t think he ever feels fully worthy of these bonds. it’s not just the cheating, though that is another aspect that only adds to the case for a rogue of blood, but he has a major problem with commitment in general. as with all rogues, his journey is in coming to embrace his aspect on his own terms.
honey is the knight of void. knights use their aspect as equal parts sword and shield; using them as a tool, and hiding their authentic selves (which they typically see as inadequate) behind their aspects. void represents secrecy, mystery, depth, obfuscation, nothingness, misfortune, and ignorance. honey’s the black hole, and uses that personality, that facade of not giving a shit, to hide his true self and avoid getting hurt. additionally, knights usually see their aspects as whatever they think they’re good at; in honey’s case, nothing. a hidden skill is equally common with void players, or at least a skill they think is unimportant, i.e. honey’s ability to talk his way out of arrests using his knowledge of procedural law. either way, honey’s journey and the journey of the knight are both to not let their aspect hide their true selves, and to embrace their true selves instead.
inseong is the bard of time. bards corrupt and distort their aspect, and use it to wreck havoc and destruction. time can represent destruction, endings, change, precision, or, of course, time itself. as someone who has some pretty serious memory problems, inseong as an excellent candidate for the bard of time. by definition, he has a corrupted sense of time. similarly, bards tend to ghost their opposite aspect, which is space, therefore bards of time tend to be far more open-minded than the average time player, and concerned with avoiding destruction. it also just so happens that time has strong connections to music and rhythm, so it makes sense the virtuoso is a time player. the challenge of the bard of time is to stop themselves from being taken in by the whims of space, which, in inseong’s case, is likely represented by stagnation, an inability or unwillingness to grow and change. despite the fact that inseong may feel more comfortable in this stagnation, he must embrace time, and change, if he wishes to make it through.
jules is the rogue of doom. rogues have trouble coping with their aspect or their supposed lack of it, causing them to give it up too easily. doom is the aspect of death, sacrifice, rules, fate, the inevitable, order, and authority. in general, rogues of doom have a lot of trouble dealing with obligations, rules, or expectations, to the point of rejecting them. enter: the icarus. rogues themselves tend to be pretty easy-going and friendly, if avoidant, and therefore a rogue of doom would be the type to blow off their responsibilities because they feel like they can’t handle them. jules was flying high at one point, but at the beginning of the game, he’s already crashed and burned, accepting that he would never live up to what his parents expected of him. the rogue’s journey ends with them understanding they are, indeed, worthy of their aspect, perhaps living up to his own expectations instead, and the rogue of doom in particular has potential to be the most selfless aspect, as they even take on the obligations and responsibilities of other players.
kiki is the mage of void. mages have a powerful and innate knowledge of their aspect, but that knowledge tends to torture them more than anything. void represents secrecy, mystery, depth, obfuscation, nothingness, misfortune, and ignorance. it doesn’t take knowing her for long to conclude that kiki is a scholar of the unknown, knows conspiracy and the supernatural down to her bones, and just as this knowledge can be enlightening, it can also be isolating. truthfully, there is no lonelier person i can think of than a mage of void, perhaps even able to convince themselves they don’t exist at all. i also like how it fits her reputation as an airhead when compared to the truth of her intelligence; someone whose area of knowledge seems to be nothing but is, in fact, all that is unseen. the journey of the mage is typically to accept their knowledge, not as a burden, but as a strength, and kiki’s already on that path.
libby is the maid of life. maids originally rely on others to supply their aspect, but eventually grow to find it in themselves. life represents healing, energy, growth, rebellion, and recklessness. as a girl, libby embraced life without a second thought, a restless and wild child. but, at the beginning of veritas, she is a much-changed woman, having willingly given up on her dream to be a ballet dancer, all for the sake of her parents. but she’s not herself without that life in her, and relies upon ivy and blue to provide those aspects for her. without that life, that recklessness, that energy, she’s not really herself, and you can tell. one day, though, she will come to embrace all the ups and downs of life, or she will become a shell of herself. these players are literally made of life, and they need it to survive.
nevaeh is the mage of heart. mages have a powerful and innate knowledge of their aspect, but that knowledge tends to torture them more than anything. heart can represent love, passion, individuality, identity, and soul. there is no muse that knows the trials and tribulations of love quite like nevaeh; she knows everything there is to know about love, about herself, about emotion and how it flits across peoples’ expressions. and yet, she was forced to keep all this love and emotion inside, to keep her real self inside. all her life, heart has been the source of nevaeh’s suffering, and she has learned from that pain. mages of heart also, as a result, tend to be the most empathetic of the classes.
otto is the bard of doom. bards corrupt and distort their aspect, and use it to wreck havoc and destruction. doom is the aspect of death, sacrifice, rules, fate, the inevitable, order, and authority. when i think of bards, i think of spoiled brats who do not know the havoc they are capable of unleashing, and oh look: enter otto. like their brother class, the prince, bards tend to ghost the opposite aspect (in this case, life) but are unfortunately surrounded by their own, even as they actively reject it. otto is bound by doom, by inevitability and rules; he was being forced to marry daisey, after all. he actively rejects the doom surrounding him, but don’t be fooled; thanks to kiernan, he may soon face consequences for his devil-may-care attitude, as is typical for bards.
vi is the thief of breath. thieves have natural confidence with their aspect, and hide their vulnerabilities and despise being seen as weak. breath represents freedom, movement, and confidence. thieves are already confident, and when combined with breath, makes for an extremely independent person. additionally, a thief takes their aspect and leaves the opposite aspect (in this case, blood) in their wake. meaning that wherever vi goes, she doesn’t necessarily make friends, but more adoring fans. thieves of breath do love an audience; they’ve got to show off to someone. also, i fucking swear i came up with this title before vi’s secret came out, but it works even better now. because she literally stole wren’s freedom for her own benefit, twice.
zar is the knight of blood. knights use their aspect as equal parts sword and shield; using them as a tool, and hiding their authentic selves (which they typically see as inadequate) behind their aspects. blood is the aspect of unity, family, bonds, friendship, and responsibility. while the knight of blood is excellent at utilizing their aspect, they don’t tend to believe it, and have a lot of anxiety regarding their connections to others. they may overextend themselves in an effort to keep these connections. despite this perceived failure of blood, they are incredibly compassionate, and have a need to be responsible for other people. especially relevant for zar, he uses his extreme reliability and loyalty to his friends to hide his own insecurities about himself.
zola is the sylph of blood. sylphs use their aspect to heal others, and only others, to the point of meddling with them regarding their aspect. blood is the aspect of unity, family, bonds, friendship, and responsibility. the sylph of blood is the mender of all types of relationships, essentially one of the best therapists a team can get. a natural title for zola; she even managed to get oz and zar to fucking hug. sylphs of blood are especially good at getting other people to make promises, keep groups of friends healthy and stable and together. as we all know, zola is a literal angel, and even though she’s having a mental breakdown every day, she’s still keeping everyone grounded.
bonus:
daisey is the witch of void. she manipulates people with secrets. it’s that easy.

kules marriage au
i would like to preface all of this by saying that kiki and jules are already married, by the power vested in their kindergarten classmates. they got married on the playground at recess one day, with rings made out of blades of grass and a bouquet of wildflowers that they picked from along the fence. husband n wife from the age of five!!!!
but FOR REAL. i really truly cannot decide if i think it would take kiki n jules FOREVER to get married ( bc it’s taken/taking them forever to do everything else so far ) or if i think they’d get their shit together and get hitched ! so i think it’d fall somewhere in the middle?? like they get engaged relatively quickly post-graduation, and by that i mean they’d move in together and after some odd months of…. basically already being married sdkksndk they’d finally take the plunge n get engaged. and not gonna lie i can definitely see kiki proposing to him first bc he’s taking too long and she just!! wants to spend the rest of her life with him okay!!! but we all know jules is a sappy soft boy n by that point would probably already own her ring ( opal of course, like her grandmothers bc he knows what she wants ) and would propose right back :’)
but then i also think they would be that couple that is literally engaged… forever. FOREVER. they know they’re going to get married at some point and they’re not really in any kind of rush?? so why not just enjoy the stage of life that they’re at for a little while. plus if they’re not technically married yet then they don’t feel AS bad about going to restaurants and re-proposing to get free desserts and champagne, you know?
as far as the wedding goes, it would definitely be a very small, very intimate affair. neither of them are huge party people so i think they’d be on the same page about it being really just their closest friends n family, nothing crazy! ( let’s be honest, kiki is that girl thats like “i would go to town hall with u right now and sign the papers, no dress no party NOTHING, bc all that matters to me is being married to u” aw ) but i also think that they’d take the money saved on extra catering n stuff on splurging on a cool venue, like a museum of some kind that’s just rly… not a Traditional venue by any means but would b super fucking cool and on brand for them
probably the hardest decision would be creating the wedding party because??? kiki loves ALL of her friends so deeply she would probably want the whole gd guest list up there with her okay?? but she’d probably…. probably……. decide on having nev, zola n cerelia as her bridesmaids n zar as her bridesman smndmsnm. and then bc she couldn’t pick between the two people closest to her, she decided to have a maid AND a matron of honor, alice and honey respectively
also, when i started writing this i had ZERO idea what kind of wedding dress kiki would wear besides the basic idea of it… not being anything too flashy or frilly bc she’s very much an understated person when it comes to fashion. and then, of course, PINTEREST came to the rescue and provided me with….. the MOST kiki kibler wedding dress, better than anything i could have imagined in my own mind ( x, x, x ) and so now the kules wedding must commence because i’m so emotionally attached to everything about it!!!
last but not least, jules would 1000000% take her last name and they would be the kiblers and live happily ever after the end!!!
