..It’s more than a feelin’..

Our senses are amazing.
They can amaze you, attack you or fill you with wonder at any given moment. They can make you laugh or cry, feel happy or sad…. or make you belt out in song while driving along 287 N toward Midlothian instantly transforming you to a point in time that made you giddy.
Oh wait a minute… THAT’S MEEEEE!
I have had many moments  where my senses hit me right in the feels.  There are really too many to count in this one blog post, but trust me when I say, we could sit a spell and discuss at length over an adult beverage or 5.
I digress,  there I was this morning on my way to work … driving along listening to the radio… when ….
WHAM!
It happened.
BOSTON came on the radio, …..with that song, THE ONE, that can get any fan up and singing at the the top of their lungs….”More than a feeling”..
https://youtu.be/SSR6ZzjDZ94
…first comes the gentle strum of Tom Scholz on guitar, other instruments slowly joining in…my heartbeat quickens because I KNOW what comes next….. in comes Sib Hashian on the drums….. “ … I SLIPPED AWAAAAAAY” … … I am suddenly drumming on my steering wheel, head bobbing up and down keeping time to the beat…. singing at the top of my lungs….’ IT’S MORE THAN A FEEEEELING”…
…..AND I COULD NOT GIVE ONE FRACK, that anybody sees me as I pull up to the stop light……I simply flash them the “YEAH!  ROCK N’ ROLL” hand sign and keep on singing…..Fuck ‘em if they think that this girl is too old for Rock n’ Roll….I don’t give a damn.  Let them smile.  Let them be jealous in their stuffy suit.
Lost in that moment in time, I am taken back to when I saw them in concert at the tender age of 19 in Austin, Texas……an auditorium where the air was filled with smoke from herb, cigarettes and beer; legions of fans standing, some in the chairs … pounding their fists in the air.. singing to the music with not a care in the world.  We were one.  It was the music.  For those hours we were family, whatever was going on in our lives in that moment in time was suspended.     There was no color, no hate and music was our religion.
For that 3:30 in my Toyota Highlander,  I am suspended in time, remembering fondly the friends that I went with.
… and I am singing…..
….  I pull up into the parking lot of where I work, place my car in park and listen as the drums and electric guitar slowly fade away.   I turn my car off and sit there for a moment, basking in the memory with a smile on my face.  God I love that song.
As the day slowly invades my thoughts, I grab my purse,  my lunch and exit my car.  I start across the parking lot, and realize that I have a little bit of sass in my ass… that  I am walking with a little strut and humming to myself.  Age be damned….I may have arthritis in my back, a sciatic nerve in my hip and a bum right ear..but I don’t give a shit.   I am a 55 year old female that has a good life, a wonderful husband and the journey that brought me here has been a good ride….hmmmmm………….
JOURNEY… now there are some songs!!!
………
but that is another blog….
