Am only going to see Green Day and Fall Out Boy in Huddersfield aren’t I (proud of me cause it sold out in about 30 seconds) 😂
Goodbye Cave Ravers!
Today was our final fundraiser for Hillcare Longroyds and Pilling House Care Homes in Skelmanthorpe. It was also the last time that we Cave Ravers would be all together until graduation. I’d like to take a minute to talk about our journey.
It all started on the 29th of July when we met at The Zone here in Huddersfield. It was 9am and we were all tired. Some of us knew eachother but for most of us we were 12 clueless 15/16 year olds who had no idea what was waiting for us. From there we went to the Peak District in Castleton. It was there that we all started to become a true team. From our excellent raft that we built together to the supportive way we encouraged eachother in the caves, the first day of activities was when we knew that we were a truly wham team. We went through hellish weather and horrific walks but we did it together.
The next week we were at Storthes Hall. This was where we grew even closer as we began to learn new things about eachother and support one another through thick and thin. As well as making food for eachother. (More specifically some wham cake)
Then was our planning week for our social action. Probably the most stressful week but once again we did it together and we pulled through. Our pitch was epic and we were the only team to get donations as well as our loan.
Then came the fundraising. From the Drag Race to the sponsored walk it has all been an absolute blast.
If I could go back and do it all over and over again I would and I wouldn’t do anything differently. I wouldn’t change this for the world. You have all been the best team anyone could ever wish for. I’ll never be able to forget you so let’s all stay in touch.
It truly has been Wham.
Wham Bam Thank you Ma'am
