Genshin Sagau (?) Isekai Brainrot - Language

I've seen like ONE small kinda related Genshin Sagau/isekai idea for this but I wanted more of it so BAD

It’s not the most interesting thing in the world, it’s about our modern vernacular vs. Teyvat's flowery speech

Pls feel free to expand on or add to this pLEASE TAG ME IF U DO IM STARVING OUT HERE :)))

So I saw someone write like one sentence abt this (can’t remember who :( sorry I’ll update if I find them ) or like a brutally honest version??

But I also took inspo from how fucking wordy and long conversations that are in Genshin, even with ppl like Xiao (the rude boy that he is) or even Tighnari who gets to the point pretty quickly

It goes smth like:

So, all of Teyvet, (esp ppl like Zhongli 💀 u know the ones) talk,, flowery.

Like, the whole Pride and Prejudice style speaking, euphemisms, metaphors, for some characters (or Npcs) its full on POETRY.

Lookin’ at you Kazuha.

And going off of any variation of you being the Creator, (or otherwise an older mythical being?), they could have this thing where the older a deity/mythical thingy is, the simpler the speech.

Kinda makes sense to them y’know? The older beings are serious, commanding, intimidating

And nothing says "I'm ancient as fuck and powerful as fuck" like simple blunt speech.

And being closer to the literal creation of the world, language would understandably be less complex (I’m assuming it’s the same as in human cultures in our world's history)

Like literally look at our fantasy typical stories, plenty of them have a dragon or ancient god that speaks in extremes, like so flowery its a metaphor, or so bluntly its startling (ie, "Be not afraid." "I am all powerful." etc etc)

And so, ancient powerful being = direct/blunt speech

…

...Y'know,, almost like our modern vernacular.

Like, part of some of our modern day comedy is purely based on a sentence being delivered bluntly for impact

Hell our ads and videos and content in general we always want to get to the point, to say things simply

So with this in mind, even if you try to deny being the Creator, they might still think you are, or at least a more minor ancient deity/creature

(like the Seven Sovereigns/Phanes/Shades/etc. for example would sound eerily modern or at least easy for you to understand bc of this trait lol)

(Also I'm just assuming u know Genshin lore enough to know what I meant by that ^)

So, I love the AU where you just,, hitch a ride with the traveler like Paimon bc u start at the "beginning of the game",

And with every person you meet, you're like, "Ok, no, I promise this is just how my country/world speaks, it's not like that, I'm not some ancient deity…"

And They're all like 🤨🤨🤨 "Well, fine traveler and companions, why does your speech sound so simplistic and sharp? Surely, you do not expect me to truly believe you.."

You: "Please I just talk like this, I'm a regular human."

Them: "Alright, if it is as you say,, you wish to not experience being "known" yes? Fear not, I will keep your secrets close to my chest."

You: "No, for the last time, that's not-"

And it just keeps happening, lol

(srry I tried my best at emulate Genshin language + flowery speech idk how to do it)

Like maybe you would just sound weird or like a foreigner speaking y’know in simpler sentences bc they don't know the language as well as native speakers, at least that could be how you sound to NPCs and ppl who don’t know abt simpler speech meaning

...But the Adepti? Zhongli?? Barbatos maybe??? Even the Aranara??? Those who are old enough to maybe have heard how older beings speak or at least have knowledge of how they should speak/sound??

You couldn’t have predicted how shocked their faces were the second you opened you’re mouth…

Sumeru scholars would freak tf out i stg, as soon as you meet Haypasia, she's already losing it, first the Irminsul progress, now this ancient being/Creator?? Girlie thinks its a sign lmao

(I’m an Aether lover, and also bc I think Lumine looks badass as Abyss ruler, so I’m gonna go with Aether for traveler sorry Lumine mains love yall T-T)

lets say he speaks a little more fluffy than you at least, after all I’m assuming bc of the outfit that he’s from a fantasy-like place, and his replies can be a little fluffy like Teyvat’s residents, so he kinda fits in, kinda like everybody assumes he's just from another country when he gets to a new nation (at least that’s what I think happens??)

Like after (maybe Diluc?) Lisa, Kaeya, Venti, and Jean (who I think would all be knowledgeable, thru diff means, about this enough to maybe recognize the simpler speech = ancient god thing)

ALL reacted shocked as hell at hearing you talk, and would probably explain (or Paimon before then?) in that infuriatingly roundabout way, that you would usually skip a couple dialogue boxes just to avoid bc yOU ALREADY GOT THE POINT or alternatively WHATS THE POINT HERE?? JUST SAY IT, WHATS THE COMMISSION/QUEST FOR/WHAT DO I DO??

(Those blue highlights be savin my impatient life, and i actually like lore stuff 💀)

Oh that’s also another frustration. For you.

It would drive me crazy if I had to wait like,, 2-3 minutes for ppl to explain what they ate for dinner or sm shit

Like, now imagine that’s everyone, about everything.

You don’t know how anything gets done in battles or wars, like you need faster communication for that right??💀

Anyway, you, Aether and Paimon decide you just gotta not talk when you first meet people or like,, make sure you're gonna be around that person for a while so you don’t have to possibly get someone over the shock of your speech every time you guys talk to people 😭 that'd be so miserable I can already tell,,

Like at first, every convo ya’ll have had with people who recognize that direct speech trait as a thing, would take at least 10 minutes to finish talking about it/being shocked,,

It got so old so fast.

(Like I already can’t communicate that good with ppl irl bc I misunderstand them, or they do me, or they just dont get what I mean, and as my friends put it, which I think would fit here for any language shenanigans we go thru in Teyvat, "A Shakespearean level of misunderstanding, hilarious but such a downward spiral to watch, it just gets more and more ridiculous as it goes on...")

On another note, making fun of someone would be so fucking funny,

I’d like to give myself the benefit of the doubt that many characters, after getting used to your speech, would generally understand you (even if they always notice it, like an accent) and would actually rlly love hearing insults or even just generally how you would put things

(like maybe treating this almost like those vids of ppl with non-native english speaknig relatives/parents and its the most hilarious thing to watch them, usually get pissed 😭, at their kid, if u dont know what I mean look up on tiktok or smth)

And You just come off like those insults where you dont even use cuss words, you just like, drag queen read them into never showing their face again, and you did it in so few words!!

They're amazed and oh,

you've become the John Mulaney of Teyvat

You lost your friends a while back, some of them already preoccupied with whomever they decide to spend the night with and the others already too drunk to realize you’d somehow been separated from the group.

You aren’t too drunk, still able to properly walk in your heels without wobbling but you are a little tipsy, your head already beginning to spin as you attempt to look over the sea of people in search for your friends. The party scene have never been your thing but there’s never been anything wrong with dressing up and spending the night dancing and so you hadn’t thought much into it when you agreed but if you’d known you’d be spending the night alone, you would have chosen your couch and a rerun of brooklyn 99.

“What’s a pretty girl like you doing alone?” Someone purred by your ear, immediately making you move away from the touch of the drunk man who suddenly appeared behind you. He definitely looks more than a few years older as he smirks at you, hand gripping a bottle of beer.

You resist the urge to grimace, the sight of him disgusted you. “I have a boyfriend, sorry.”

You hate that you have to make up some lie just for this man to leave you alone but unfortunately, you know that men only respect other men. He might not see you as a human being, but he will be your imaginary boyfriend.

But this man only smirks wider, looking so sinister and terrifying at that moment that you attempted to take another step back. “I don’t see him around now, do I?”

He’s moving towards you again, hands reaching to place on your hip. You try to swat his touch away but somehow that only makes him smirk wider.

“Please let me go,” you say, hating the way the shake in your voice is evident as the stench of alcohol covering him invades your nostrils.

“Come on now, honey, no need to play hard to get. You’re far too pretty not to get laid tonight.”

You’re already considering screaming and making a scene when an arm wrapped around your waist, removing the creepy man’s hand on your hip.

“She said to let her go, did she not, mate?” said a thick accent behind you and you turned around to be faced with another man, a smile on his face but you can see the threat in them as he stared down the drunk man that had just been hitting on you. You have half a mind to push him away but his hold is warm and inviting and the wink he gave you when you met his eyes somehow eased your fears.

“Look, man,” the creepy man continues. “I don’t know who you are but I got to her first.”

“I’m her boyfriend,” your ‘boyfriend’ said menacingly, his french accent somehow becoming thicker. He looks ready to pounce as he pulls you closer to him, practically placing you behind him and out of the man’s view. “And unless you want a broken nose, I’d suggest leaving now.”

You expected a little bit more of a fight but the man simply huffed before turning around, stumbling out of your sight.

Your savior removes his arm around you and you can’t help but miss the heat he provided, your short dress barely enough to protect you from the cold.

“Thank you,” you tell him, attempting a smile. “Thank you so much for helping me out with that. I was beginning to get scared.”

That was a lie. You were already scared before he came.

He gives you an easy smile, so much unlike the sarcastic one he had given the man earlier. You can’t help but notice the wrinkles by his eyes when he smiles and you’re tempted to reach out and sooth it with your fingers.

“Don’t mention it,” he says, needing to speak up in order to be heard over the loud music. “I’m Arthur.”

“Y/N,” you tell him as you wrap your arms around you, trying to keep yourself warm. “And thank you so much again, Arthur.”

“Here. You look like you’re about to freeze.” He says nothing else as he shrugs off the jacket he’s wearing, offering it to you. You can’t even find it in yourself to argue as you gratefully accept the warm fabric, slipping your hands through the much bigger sleeves.

“Do you…do you want to get out of here?” He asks hesitantly, scared you’ll think he only helped you out so he can have his own way with you. Truthfully, he just really wants to be able to look into your eyes and hear your voice.

But his worries disappear as you flash him a smile and Arthur could have sworn his heart stopped beating there and there.

“I’d really like that,” you tell him.

Cause I see sparks fly when you smile.

Thinking abt trolls 3 and why it picked up so much traction compared 2 the other 2 movies. Like technological advancements aside I think the main thing is just the character lineup.

Movie one was mostly branch and poppy. All the kidnapped trolls operated as One entity really so it’s not like u could particularly??? Care about them too much. Bridget and Gristle were really really fun but the villain wasn’t anything particularly special or noteworthy judging by just how little people. Talk about her. OH and also creek was there (literally forgor im rereading this for typos and adding this now) but like. Oh no the guy who showed up for like 5 minutes is a Bad guy and im supposed to care about the quest to save him mostly just because theyre telling the audience they should care because Poppy cares . But theres just not a lot of setup (and Creeks just not that. Interesting?)

Second movie had considerably More bangers and was definitely going in the right direction character wise. But it had the Opposite problem with wayyy too many guys that were really interesting and not a lot of time to do anything with them. You get King Trollex’s intro, Biggie, Cooper and Prince D and their parents, Delta Dawn, and Allll the bounty hunter trolls, PLUS Barb and the rock trolls. Barb was definitely a prime example of a major upgrade from the movies, having a villain that the audience actually vibed with and u could Tell by fan reactions I think. (Parb sweep) But there was just. Sooo so much, on top of the lore dump and a plot that you really had to get cool with really quick to get invested in. theres a bunch of new trolls and these strings that are definitely super important promise (lie)

The third one feels like they finally like. Know what theyre doing. With their own universe. No big lore dumps, theres not even any Explanation for what Mount Rageous is, they just introduce you to it and the Rageons with confidence thru Velvet and Veneer and expect you to get it. Plus, theres still a lot of characters, but theyre much more tangibly connected now. All the brozone brothers are well established and have preestablished relationships with each Other so even if we dont get much time with them it doesn’t feel like theyre that out of place. It still requires some suspension of disbelief vis a vis “Branch had Four super secret brothers hes Never mentioned,” but they make it work and frankly, the set-up is a lot more easier to get invested in than “secret magical strings that Invented Magic I Guess.”

And with Brozone and Viva theres a connection To the main characters rather than just being tag-alongs for tag-alongs sake. They’ve all got their own niches to make them individually compelling but theres a connecting thread here so they still feel like they’re a part of the story. And they’re all there to do something!! And then Velvet and Veneer of course continue the vibe that Barb had of being villains with enough screen time and personality that you like them As characters and arent just viewing them as The Plot Obstacle. Which is cool i think. Overall i just think the third movie felt a Lot more confident to do what the fuck ever and thats Really good.

something else that i have been thinking abt since writing the cowboy fic is that like. i feel like. there is sort of this....very intense expectation when it comes to warnings on fics? and i feel like this is a post-tiktok shift simply bc i don't see it as much w older fics but. what i mean is like.

the tags are where tws/cws go, right? like, the general expectation is that if there is potentially upsetting content, the writer will do their best to tag it so that people know going into the fic to expect violence or angst etc etc. and it is the responsibility of the reader to check those tags before reading and decide if they're okay with encountering that potentially upsetting material. which is a great system!

but i feel like now there's this growing expectation that writers will not only tag their fics, but also include detailed warnings in the notes on each chapter. and like.....i think that is a very kind gesture from writers who want to do it, but it shouldn't be an expectation. it isn't a writer's responsibility to provide warnings on every single chapter of a fic. like, if the fic is tagged with something like "violence" or "injury" or "gore," you as a reader are opening that fic with the blanket acknowledgment that you are prepared for any kind of violence/injury/gore that it might contain. and you aren't entitled to any more detailed warnings on the actual chapter where those things occur. y'know?

and yeah, sometimes you'll open a fic tagged with something thinking u can handle it, and then you'll get to that part of the story and find it more upsetting than u expected. that happens! but that's just part of like...the Big Kid Reading Experience, y'know? it's not the writer's responsibility to protect u from a story that u chose to read.

anyway, i just feel like i am increasingly witnessing (and every so often being subjected to lol) this phenomenon of people reading a fic tagged with various warnings and then acting surprised or even upset with the writer because.....they were surprised that the fic tagged "violence" was violent. or that the fic tagged "angst" was sad. or that the fic tagged "canon-compliant" was canon-compliant. and then if they're called on their bs they'll hand-wring and act like the tag on the fic wasn't enough, because they weren't expecting the violence to be that violent, or the angst to be that sad, and they'll act as though the writer has done something wrong by not giving a step-by-step breakdown in the notes on each chapter of every single potentially upsetting detail....which is just ridiculous!

anyway. tl;dr - nobody is entitled to detailed, in-depth tws on every single fic ch; the writers who do that are just being extra nice to u, so stop treating it as some sort of standard expectation!

Really important for the relationship tag tho bc fr, it ain't about "oh what symbols can we add to mean different super specific designation" that's like w/e nobody fucking cares. What'cha gonna fucking do about the dumbest user? We already got ppl who can't see the difference between & and /, u really think that adding more isn't gonna completely fuck over everyone u got another storm coming.

Like in programming for users u gotta think of the dumbest person who might have to work with it. Someone who posts by slamming their device against the wall until it posts, you gotta think of them. Think abt that.

Idk if it even would be more inclusive anywho, like would having an entire wall of relationship markers be more inclusive to users, readers and the writers, or would it just make posting an absolute ordeal, esp if tags are right the fuck there. Don't forget about the poor fucking volunteers who gotta wrangle the fics. The fucking flooooooood of "Uhhh this fic used the platonic marker when akshually it should be the friends++ marker, and this one has the closed relationship marker, but akshually this one should have the open relationship marker, not to be confused with the cheating spouse marker." -this beheth satirical hyperbole. or is it just gonna be a real fucking mess because nobody is gonna fucking use the wall of markers and honestly just stick to the old ones and then give us the tags to be like "read the tags hoe" or "choose not to use specific relationship marker" bc some relationships just don't work like that.

U'll just end up with like 2/1000 fics having special specific markers and the rest is just gonna be cruising back with the &/ once the specialness of a bunch of markers wears of, and you figure out you gotta get a degree in AO3-relationship markers to post and find fics, and the entire list with the markers + explanations open on another tab.

Also like, Idk but I don't see anyone really going into / and expecting only sex either, or that it always means love between the A/B. Def would say that several of the non-con fics I read don't use / to mean romance, just sayin. / seems to be pretty open for interpretation of whatever ur reading and what the tags say, so read them.

Dunno if this is an unpopular opinion but imho 3dtok should not be a thing😭

Tags there don't work the way they do on here, if u go on tumblr the chance you'll see 3d posts without actively looking for them is close to 0. On tik tok it gets passed around to ppl who don't wanna see it, yeah the algorithm might pick up u wanted to, but sometimes vids just gets a bunch of likes and pop up on the fyp even if you don't interact with anything related and that's pretty harmful to the general audience.

What ircks me even more are the girlies eating textbook 4nа meals and act cute and deny it...like either be open abt or don't promote that with a body check at the start as a cherry on top, what did u expect?
