i think lesbian macdennis is so interesting in comparison to gay macdennis because the stigma around gay men is a lot different than lesbian women. homosexuality is demonized so deeply within men, it is a thing that is sinful and wrong and must be repressed. to even suggest that a man is gay is offensive. and mac subscribes to this belief so heavily, punishing himself and anybody else he perceives as gay.

but when we look at genderbent mac, i think it gets a bit more complicated. to a degree, lesbianism is more accepted. it's not viewed as legitimate, surely two women can't have a relationship together, but it's high fetishization in the media makes a degree of normality. so while female mac may not be willing to date a girl, the stigma of kissing a girl isn't as high as male mac kissing another man. a girl kissing a girl is hot; girls kiss each other all the time when they're drunk; girls kiss each other to practice for when they makeout with boys. all of these things are so much more normalized by society in a way that female mac could possibly also normalize in her head.

all this is to say that lesbian macdennis fuck a lot sooner than gay macdennis. lesbian macdennis has been fucking. and of course, mac doesn't view it as real, she would never consider what she and dennis are doing as real sex. mac is still plagued by internalized homophobia and pressures from her father. and that's not even getting into dennis' own internalized homophobia and need for validation that she would surely seek out in men.

lesbian macdennis still aren't a couple. they still have their problems to deal with, the implications of being lesbians. but they fuck earlier on. they're able to rationalize it to each other.

i see that you're a nursing student and i was thinking about studying that but im not sure. why did you choose to go into nursing and how is it?

Don’t worry, It wasn’t a weird question at all :3

I’m an American nursing student so I can comment on that system. When I was in high school my school offered a medical academy program that I did. Through it I got to sample various medical careers and even got my EMT licensure through a partnership they had with the local community college.

I really liked the science aspect of medicine but also loved patient care. So when I learned that it was the nurse who spent the majority of the time with the patient (I.e giving meds, doing assessments, etc.) I preferred that to the doctor role who spends much less time with the patient.

As for how it’s going, I won’t sugarcoat it. Nursing school and nursing as a profession is hard. There are going to be times when you feel burnt out or question if you made the right choice. However, when you finally figure out what speciality is right for you, it’s amazing.

I’ll never forget when I just sat down with an elderly woman who couldn’t remember that I had come in early to give her meds but told me about her childhood in rural Pennsylvania where her dad built their house.

Or the time I stood next to a doctor as a new baby boy was born into the world after I held his mother’s leg up while she pushed.

Or when I worked in the pediatric hospital and dressed up my patient as Little Red Riding Hood for Halloween.

If nursing is what feels right for you, I would definitely encourage you to go into it. You will have self doubts at times and it will be hard but I promise you that everyone feels that way at first.

I think deep down Dean really wants to be liked. But I think he prefers to be right. Like if he’s not liked at least he’s obviously right. And for Sam I think it’s very much both!
