"My late father was in Auschwitz. My late mother was in Majdanek concentration camp. Every single member of my family on both sides was exterminated. Both of my parents were in the Warsaw ghetto uprising. And it's precisely and exactly because of the lessons my parents taught me and my two siblings that I will not be silent when Israel commits its crimes against the Palestinians. And I consider nothing more despicable than to use their suffering and their martyrdom to try to justify the torture, the brutalization, the demolition of homes that Israel daily commits against the Palestinians. So I refuse any longer to be intimidated or brow beaten by the tears. If you had any heart in you, you would be crying for the Palestinians, not for what you have done." - Norman Finkelstein responding to a Zionist detractor at a university lecture.

Norman Finkelstein's response to Edward Said's criticism of Chomsky:

Source: I’ll Burn That Bridge When I Get to It!
I will quote two tweets in response that I think are applicable to Finkelstein's condescending attitude to Said's valid critique:

"The biggest insult to the memory of the holocaust is not denying it but using it as an excuse to justify the genocide of the Palestinian people.”

Seeing Holocaust survivors speak up about what Israel's doing to Palestine.
That it's nothing short of a genocide. That what their witnessing reminds them very much of what they survived.
And for people to stop using their stories to justify Israel's human rights abuses.
Reminds me of this moment with Norman Finkelstein, an American Jew who's been very vocal about Israel's treatment of Palestinians.
This is clip is at the University of Waterloo.
And while this clip is from 2011, he continues to speak up and condemns Israel's actions.

I just saw an interview by one of my favorite self-hating Jew, Norman Finkelstein, in which he defended the Houthi's slogan which states "a curse upon the Jews" because Israel considers itself a Jewish state.
Now I'm going to lay out how terrible this argument is.
1. It justifies all antisemitism. Any targeted attack against Jews or Jewish institutions can be justified without even claiming they're Zionists.
2. Because no one cares about Jews, I'm going to have to make this argument. According to Finkelstein it's okay to say "a curse upon Muslims" because of the Islamic regime, so therefore islamophobia is ok.

Hi the other one got corrupted lol so I made a new one and reorganized it, focusing on books (on a separate linked google drive) and documentaries, as well as longer-form interviews and talks, with a large section by Arab Jews and Anti-Zionist Jews. I find that’s the voice I’m hearing the least atm, and they give important context to historical events that we see the effects of playing out in current day

In light of sharing Norman Finkelstein's quotes and videos because of the Israel-Hamas war, I just hope that more pple will know that he isn't a reliable ally of Palestinians. He has called the BDS movement a cult, and patronizingly lectured the Palestinian or pro-Palestine activists and academics who criticized him. You can read about it here:
It's important to note from the article that he opposes BDS because it would lead to the destruction of Israel, he was never an anti-Zionist to begin with:
Tumblr media
And that's not even getting to his transphobia and enbyphobia, here he is complaining about they/them pronouns (Video can be viewed on Twitter):
Tumblr media
And another interview where he calls gender-affirming healthcare, "experimental drugs" (video can be viewed on Twitter):
Tumblr media
And even more transphobia from his latest book:
Tumblr media
And him showing his antiblackness during an interview this year because guess what do most of the people he criticizes have in common? (Again, videos can be viewed in Twitter):
Tumblr media
I don't want to dismiss Finkelstein's critiques of Israel, but I also want to emphasize that his reputation as an anti-Zionist is massively overstated and that he is simply a contrarian. Please remember that there are way better pro-Palestine activists and academics whose work you can be platforming.

This has been on my mind too. What will they pull to try and counter the truth? Personally I feel they should have just sat for both sides today. Yes, 3 hours for one team is long and 6 is longer, but 2.3million lives are at risk.

2 different predictions, the first one is by Professor Noman Finkelstein and the second by Professor Francis Boyle.
1. Professor Finkelstein predicts that the ICJ will decide against South Africa, despite the legal merits of the case. He argues that the judges will ultimately vote according to the positions of their respective countries and goes through each judge's predicted vote.
2. Professor Boyle predicts that South Africa will win an order of provisional measures of protection against Israel to cease and desist from committing acts of genocide against the Palestinians.
What do you think?
Credit to @kthalps for the Finkelstein interview.

The ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians is one of the largest human rights abuses we will ever see in our lifetime, and the likelihood of a complete genocide climbs higher by the day.
When people say "Palestinians live in an open air prison," they are not being hyperbolic. Israel's military violently blocks Palestinians' access to water, medicine, and electricity, all of which are war crimes. The blockade also means trade and commerce are nonexistent.
This leaves the civilian population deeply malnourished and cut off from the world. On top of all that, Israel routinely sends airstrikes on the Palestinians, killing and wounding thousands each year and making it impossible to grow infrastructure or agriculture.
Tumblr media
In the past three days, Israel's army has been indiscriminately killing UN staffers, killing journalists, and killing emergency medics. Again, these are all war crimes, and ultimately indicate that the total eradication of Palestine is the goal.
Something I keep seeing people say/imply online is that Jews have suffered so much already and so deserve to retaliate. In that case, why doesn't Israel bomb Germany into oblivion? So many Jewish homes and businesses were literally stolen from them during an after the war all across Europe--why not seize it all back and shoot anyone who disagrees? Why is this "Jews should be able to retaliate" logic not applied to Europe? And I don't say all this to be provocative but to show how hypocritical and stupid the argument is. I will only respect this argument if the person making it applies the logic to Europe, which I have yet to see.
To read more about this conflict, I highly recommend the "Gaza: An inquest into its Martyrdom" by Norman Finkelstein.
Norman Finkelstein is himself Jewish and the son of Holocaust survivors.
Here's a summary of the book:
"The Gaza Strip is among the most densely populated places in the world. More than two-thirds of its inhabitants are refugees, and more than half are under eighteen years of age. Since 2004, Israel has launched eight devastating “operations” against Gaza’s largely defenseless population. Thousands have perished, and tens of thousands have been left homeless. In the meantime, Israel has subjected Gaza to a merciless illegal blockade.
What has befallen Gaza is a man-made humanitarian disaster."
