Doesn't matter how much Shin Soukoku fics I've read, I cannot mentally comprehend Akutugawa flirting with someone.

To be burned in light
I love the idea of Atsushi who sees himself in those hurting, and him seeing himself in Kouyou.
He gets her concerns because he was also once so afraid. Atsushi might shine in the light but he was born and raised in darkness.
Atsushi who doesn't particularly like Kouyou but knows just how much she cares for Kyouka. And wanting to reassure her that he won't let Kyouka fall.
The light burned Kouyou and it burned him too.
So he won't let it hurt Kyouka.

I've noticed that my apparent favourite thing to write at the moment, is just conversations.
Ones where maybe one or both are resigned, sad, angry or bitter. And than find common ground, acceptance in another.
I've just noticed that my last several oneshots have fit that concept (and yes shocking no one they're all bsd.)
When Snow Falls - Tachihara on the brink of death talking to Chuuya about what the government did to him.
To be burned in light - Atsushi telling Kouyou he understands her concerns about Kyouka being in the light.
Words of the Reaper - crack(ish) but it's Beast Atsushi calling Beast Dazai out on the roof for trying to leave them.... And setting Beast Chuuya on his ass.
Me and the Devil (Walking side by side) - Atsushi making a deal with Fyodor, learning why Fyodor wants the book and making it appear like they've reached common ground.
And I haven't written it out but I made a post a while back on a conversation between Nikolai and Atsushi about what it means to be caged, what it means to be free.
It's just a theme I've noticed in my writing, I dunno why I enjoy it so much. Something about people realising they aren't so different and taking comfort in it I guess.
That and I'm always here for a good ol monologue. Thematic or otherwise. I'm just making monologues in my head and than acting em out it's fun.

This is so everything.
Have been seeing a lot of discussions on language barriers in bsd recently so I thought I'd bring back this thing I've made last May (inspired by this)

I headcannon that the only member of the Guild who knows Japanese is Poe.
Because you think he's going to create a novel that Ranpo can't read? That Poe will risk being near Ranpo and not be able to converse with him?
Absolutely not.
Everyone else is fucked though.
The funniest and most underutilized thing in BSD is the language barrier and I will die on this hill.
Imagine… You are F. Scott Fitzgerald and you didn’t bother to learn Japanese before coming to Japan to search for the book (why would you care to) and all the sudden these two seemingly teenagers manifest out of buttfuck nowhere and are rapidly arguing in Japanese to each other.
Tumblr media
And you realize that you have to communicate your intentions to these two people who speak a language you didn’t bother to learn.
IMAGINE A VERY INTENSE GAME OF CHARADES ACROSS THE MOBY DICK AS SSKK AND FITZGERALD TRY TO COMMINUCATE WITH A MASSIVE LANGUAGE BARRIER.
Fitzgerald whips out Google Translate and Akutagawa and Atsushi stare at each other and try to figure out what the fuck he’s trying to say to them. Meanwhile, all he’s trying to say it “I will kick your asses.”
EVEN BETTER, Akutagawa knows some English because of the Mafia and has to play reluctant translator between Atsushi (who probably wasn’t taught anything at the orphanage) and Fitzgerald.
Atsushi: Tell him that I’m gonna kick his ass
Akutagawa: I don’t know how to say ‘ass’ in English.
OR
Fitzgerald: YOU TWO ARE DEAD!!
Atsushi: What’s he saying?
Akutagawa: Something about death??
I’m not a language expert so someone can come in here at any time and gimme stuff, but this concept is endlessly funny to me and is the most underutilized part of this fandom.

The ending 😭let him read Oda's book.
Thinking about this has me crying—
So, in Beast, Akutagawa grew up in the streets, right? Realistically, how literate would he even be? In the manga, his report was really simple, and he did talk to Astsushi about getting paper and books, but suppose that he couldn't read.
I imagine him learning that Kunikida is a teacher, and although he was a math teacher, Akutagawa goes to him and asks if he could teach Akutagawa to read properly, fully complete and complicated sentences.
Obviously, Kunikida thinks it's a great idea and will help, but seeing how focused Akutagawa is about it, he asks, "What brought this on?"
And Akutagawa is quiet for a moment, before he looks down, saying softly, "Oda-san is writing a book."

I love Beast Akutugawa. He's such a strange lil void child bent on revenge. He has a narrow view of the world and wouldn't understand subtly if it hit him in the face.
He's got 0 social skills, would stab someone as a warning and he loves being the Agencies official paper shredder.
He's such a complex lil guy and he's amazing.

it is so incredibly sad to constantly see kids on instagram and tiktok who are younger than my brother have to literally beg for shelter, food, water, medicine, and their right to exist as human beings
i mean, this young girl is only ten years old, yet she is essentially responsible for convincing random people scrolling through instagram that her and her family’s life are worth fighting for
on top of that, their gofundme is not even 10% funded and time is running out, please if you can’t donate, just share
please don’t let this little girl die begging

He's very self centered too, he fucking hid rocket away from Jack and Rose I feel ill man. I can't get over the way twf fandom treats Jack either,, The fact that people demonize a very justifiably angry father and coddle the man who's more so worried about his reputation than destroying the lives of his loved ones by (unintentionally?) Murdering their CHILDREN is so wild to me.
This might be one of the few instances that I am rendered speechless.
.... Don't coddle the murderer?!

Damn I missed that panel jeez.
We don't know anything about Tachihara's family but I can absolutely imagine them calling him his brothers name on accident.
Bringing up his achievements when Tachihara's failed. Seeing his ability and remarking how amazing his brothers was.
Maybe they never say it but Tachihara knows there's times they wished he died instead.
