Cars 3 Humanized Headcanon Fic

The following headcanon fic contains subject matters. Discretion is advised. Also, it has complete humanization and AU along with alternate retelling. It is different from Cars 3 canon, but still mixed with the Cars 3 canon. (Don’t get me wrong, I still love Cars 3 canon.) It has light and sweet headcanons too.

• Lightning and Sally are married to each other and has a daughter named Stella. Stella is 7 months old.

• In this humanized AU, Lightning and Cruz meet each other earlier and Cruz is already a car racer (But Cruz is still a sunny and sweet character who deeply and genuinely looks up to Lightning and Lightning and Cruz are still very friendly with each other. She is still trained by Lightning and Lightning is still her mentor as well.).

• Cruz is more experienced and skilled in racing thanks to receiving training from her idol and mentor, Lightning in this humanized AU. Also, in this humanized AU, she is more confident. However, she is not arrogant. She looks up to Lightning as her older brother figure as well.

• Cruz’s best car racing driver friends are Tim Treadless, Harvey Rodcap, Chase Racelott, Daniel “Danny” Swervez, Bubba Wheelhouse and Ryan Laney and she is their older sister figure.

• Jackson Storm is an only child.

• Lightning, Bobby, Cal, Brick, Cruz, Tim, Harvey, Bubba, Chase, Danny and Ryan have a somewhat negative relationship with Jackson. The reason of this is while they do genuinely admit that he is skilled and even genuinely feel sorry for him (Because while Jackson comes from a privileged and wealthy family, he never really got much attention when he was little and he is fairly distant from his pretty indifferent parents.), they dislike him because he is an arrogant, selfish and rude person who is disrespectful to others.

• When Jackson cruelly taunts Lightning during the race at Los Angeles International Speedway, Lightning is devastated and Cruz, Cal, Brick, Bobby, Bubba, Harvey, Tim, Danny, Ryan and Chase are horrified and disgusted with Jackson’s cruelty. And when Lightning suffers a nasty crash and badly injured there, they (Along with Sally, Mater, Luigi, Guido, Sarge, Fillmore and Mack) witness the accident in shock and horror along with concern for Lightning. The race is delayed. They go out to see if he’s fine while emergency responders check on him.

• Thankfully, Lightning doesn’t get traumatic brain injury, but he suffers a bad concussion, though thankfully not a life-threatening one. He is covered all over with bruises, scrapes and cuts with his split, bleeding lip on the right side, his bleeding right temple and his right leg broken and is hospitalized. His arms are not broken and his neck is okay, but he is in a coma for a week.

• When Lightning regains his consciousness (Meaning he wakes up) after a week of comatose, he has his forehead, temples and chest wrapped in bandages and a cast on his right leg. There are small bandages here and there on his face & body, though cuts, scrapes and bruises are still there on his body and face. He is with Sally, Mater, Luigi, Guido, Sarge, Fillmore and even Mack at his side & they are so relieved and joyous to see Lightning is awake and survives. And they give him a gentle, warm group hug as they comfort one another and Sally kisses Lightning on the cheeks. He also has been receiving a lot of kind card letters and presents from Brick, Cal, Bubba, Tex, Rust-eze brothers, Bobby, Strip “The King”, Cruz, Sheriff, Ramone, Flo, Red, Lizzie, Harvey, Tim, Danny, Ryan, Chase, Maddy McGear and her mother, Melissa Benrabrake, Mia and Tia and other nice, kind fans and supporters and he is even visited and comforted by them as he comforts them as well and he is very grateful to them.

• During his recovery, he has had nightmares and flashbacks of Jackson’s taunting and the accident that he suffered. He has blamed himself for his possibly failing his late mentor, crew chief and father figure, Doc Hudson (Doc Hudson’s first name is Gary in this headcanon fic. He passed away from a serious illness and he was 59 years old when he passed away. Lightning was 28 years old at that time.). Cruz, Sally and Mater had consoled Lightning and they reassure him that Doc Hudson wouldn’t want him to be too hard on himself.

• After he is fully recovered physically, Lightning has some scars on his face and body (His face has fewer scars.). With the support, love and help of his loved ones, Lightning is slowly but properly recovering psychologically. And he is preparing to return to racing.
