If I wanted to start companion bird breeding and I wanted to make it my “career” so to speak. What advice would you have for me. I’d keep specific breeds with higher levels of intelligence like racing homers, Birmingham Rollers, Newyork Flying flights, tipplers, performance pouters
I’d also keep selective show breeds for calm broody nature like COFs and OGOs
I’d still breed some single breed stick for show quality but I’d work on my passion of creating a super friendly pet bird
How would I even advertise the birds I produce since most people seem to frown on mixed birds and would it be wise to add feral pigeons into my breeding pool?
I really like the nuanced questions you ask.
And a lot of this answer is going to be a list of mistakes I have made, laid out for you to avoid hopefully more easily.
A word of caution before we go any further:
Pigeons breed so fast and peeps are such a joy to be around that it's frighteningly easy for thigs to snowball!
So start small!
I mean between two and four pair.
Enough that you should have fosters if a pair prove to be bad parents, and can easily keep up with who came from who and hatch control when you don't need peeps.
Wait lists can be the salvation of small breeders, but they can also be a trap.
Because I still had people on the wait list waiting for babies of specific temperaments, I fell head first into it!
The thought went: "I have x (between 10 and 20 at any given time!!) people on the wait list! ALL the babies getting ready to hatch will definitely have homes!"
The reality was that it isn't that simple.
I am trying to develop a completely new breed, entirely by intelligence and temperament: traits that are not immediately visible like color and structure, that take a long time to accurately assess in a developing young bird.
Most of those people wanted birds that fit my project's end goal.
Four to six generations in? Not gonna be reliably producing the homogenous result of a whole new breed!!
At this point, they are mutts.
Mutts combined towards a very specific goal, but mutts none the less.
Super sweet tempered mutts? Unique and wonderful masterpieces in the eyes of their care takers.
Flighty or shy mutts? Or even temperamentally ideal but plain looking! Passed over, because people will wait for 'better', until they find it somewhere else.
(Mind that that is their right! It is not a slight against you, and if you don't have what they want, it's better to point them in the direction of someone else who might than ask them to wait for you to have it.)
It's the breeder's responsibility to find places for those birds to go, who were passed over.
If you keep trying to meet the demands of the list, the babies who don't can really pile up!
A small number of pairs helps prevent that from happening too fast.
Because I am trying to develop a new working breed towards a purpose focused entirely on traits that aren't visible, I am kind of working on extreme hard mode.
DO NOT START that way!
You absolutely can work your passion for super friendly companion birds into your show breed of choice!
So my advice is honestly to start there.
Consider your potential breeds carefully, and since you plan to make a career out of this, this is the best time to go all in and get started with the breed you most want to show.
Exhibition breeds like
Tumblr media
COF,
Tumblr media
Lucerne,
Tumblr media
and Show Line Danzig
Are a few among my favorites for their extremely laid back temperaments.
There are more, but I can share those on another post. This is going to be a bit of a novel as it is.
Any time any intentional breeding is done, there must be a goal in mind beyond just making more.
Your goal determines your selection process, and selecting for certain traits means culling for/selecting against others that are not conducive to your goal.
To cull does not mean to kill!!!
It means to remove from the breeding population.
There are pigeon breeders who do kill their culls, but any bird sold or adopted out has, by definition, been culled from that specific breeder's program.
Breeders keep back the birds that best fit their goals, so if you start with the one breed you intend to show, your keeper from each pair will be, of that pair's offspring, the birds that both fit the breed standard most closely and develop the closest thing to your ideal temperament.
These will be your absolute best of the best, and trust me, they will be very few!
The majority of babies, then, will be the ones you sell/adopt out, which will fall into one of three categories:
No model, but great personality
If you are starting with a sweet tempered, mellow breed, most peeps should be very easy to socialize without imprinting, so these will be the vast majority of what you produce.
What the show pen considers a flaw, pet owners will adore as something that makes their baby a more unique individual.
These will be treasured by the people looking for a pet raised lovingly by a reputable breeder!
Social media is your best friend for getting the word out, but let your babies speak for themselves.
Show them interacting with you of their own volition, show their parents, your set up, show them growing up, if you can.
This will allow people to get to know the young birds and feel attached to them as their personality develops.
2. Gorgeous Bitch
Typically, when breeders focus on breeding to show standard, they are more focused on the look than the temperament.
Birds that look fantastic, but don't match your program's temperament will be easily placed among other enthusiasts for the breed.
These are the birds you want to take, if you attend a show to compete.
These are your advertisements in the show ring, and a bird does not have to be perfect to still be considered a desirable improvement to another breeder's flock.
Discuss raising the birds with other competitors, and listen more often than you speak.
The people who don't respect their birds as living things will not make any attempt to hide it, and the breeders who really are passionate about their breed for more than their potential to win show ribbons will stand out like beacons of light.
That will give you valuable insight into who to support with your funds, come time to retire former breeding pairs and seek mates for your up and coming keepers.
3. Poor temperament and structure
You'll get the combination of all possible undesirable traits about as often as you get the combination of all potential ideal traits that you will keep back for breeding.
That is to say, not very.
But it will happen.
And they will be hard to place.
You will save yourself and your flock a lot of stress and heart ache by just hatch controlling the parents until a home is secured for those especially unfortunate offspring.
If more are produced, that's a good sign to retire that pair from your program.
It takes a while for a breeder to establish themselves as Reputable either in the show ring or among conscientious pet care takers, and starting with two to four pairs of a single breed allows time and space to practice rearing, socializing, and advertising babies, as well as screening applicants, at a pace that makes snowballing more easy to avoid.
Once you get comfortable with all aspects of care for your breed of choice, then you can start to branch out into other colors or other breeds as space and time permit.
I would honestly not recommend mixing breeds unless you have a very specific end goal in mind, and even then, absolutely not right off the bat!
If you do want to develop something new, start by taking your time to get to know your favorite existing breed inside and out.
What traits make it your favorite?
What traits is it lacking that would make your perfect breed?
What other breeds have these desired traits, and are there any traits of that breed that could detract from your favorite's desirable traits?
There is so much more I could discuss, and I would be happy to go into more detail in regards to any aspect of this very broad question, but this post is already half a novella, and it's 1am.
Hopefully some decent breakfast for thought, at least.

Sometimes I like to search for my own posts in other sites, especially because my book vs show meta is shared quite a lot. I saw someone share my meta on r/gameofthrones, and without fail, some Sansa stan came to say that I was biased, that I didn’t talk about Dany’s “dark moments” in the books, that show!Dany was actually whitewashed:
Tumblr media
Wow. Wow. I am the one that is biased, clearly *sarcasm*. Also notice how this anti doesn’t provide a single book quote to support their wild claims.
“The only reason Dany took Astapor was for an army”
Then why did she free the Unsullied when she didn’t need to? Then why did she delay her invasion of Westeros to stay in Slaver’s Bay freeing slaves? Then why did she refuse Yunkai’s gold, Xaro’s ships, Quentyn’s alliance, all things that would have been given freely to her if she decided to leave, and instead chose to stay to ensure people’s freedom? Also, see this meta:
https://rainhadaenerys.tumblr.com/post/182893726737/tatticstudio55-i-didnt-think-id-have-the#notes
“She was ok with Drogo selling the Lhazareen into slavery, she said it was the price of the Iron Throne”.
Dany was a 14 years old girl who had no experience on war. Antis like to say that Dany convinced Drogo to invade knowing that he was going to enslave people to do it, but this is not an argument supported by the text at all. When Dany asks Drogo to help her take the Seven Kingdoms, no one mentions the need to sell slaves:
The khal's mouth twisted in a frown beneath the droop of his long mustachio. "The stallion who mounts the world has no need of iron chairs."
Dany propped herself on an elbow to look up at him, so tall and magnificent. She loved his hair especially. It had never been cut; he had never known defeat. "It was prophesied that the stallion will ride to the ends of the earth," she said.
"The earth ends at the black salt sea," Drogo answered at once. He wet a cloth in a basin of warm water to wipe the sweat and oil from his skin. "No horse can cross the poison water."
"In the Free Cities, there are ships by the thousand," Dany told him, as she had told him before. "Wooden horses with a hundred legs, that fly across the sea on wings full of wind."
Khal Drogo did not want to hear it. "We will speak no more of wooden horses and iron chairs." He dropped the cloth and began to dress. "This day I will go to the grass and hunt, woman wife," he announced as he shrugged into a painted vest and buckled on a wide belt with heavy medallions of silver, gold, and bronze.
"Yes, my sun-and-stars," Dany said. Drogo would take his bloodriders and ride in search of hrakkar, the great white lion of the plains. If they returned triumphant, her lord husband's joy would be fierce, and he might be willing to hear her out. - Daenerys VI ADWD
That’s it. That’s the moment Dany asks Drogo to help her take the Seven Kingdoms. There’s no mentions of selling slaves at all in their conversation. We don’t even know if Dany is aware or not of what taking the Seven Kingdoms is going to take. Given how young and inexperienced she is, it doesn’t seem like she gave much thought about the ugly aspects of war at all. Besides, it’s only after the wineseller tries to poison Dany that Drogo mentions that he will rape women and enslave children in Westeros, and at this point, Dany doesn’t have much of a say, because Drogo didn’t decide to invade Westeros because Dany asked. He decided to invade Westeros because the lives of wis wife (his property) and his son were threatened. This is an affront to his honor, his decision has nothing to do with pleasing Dany, so if she asks him to give up on invading Westeros, he won’t do it (just like he wouldn’t invade Westeros just because he asked). Dany didn’t seem to be aware of what taking Westeros back with Drogo would take, and after she finds out, she doesn’t really have the power to stop it.
And saying that Dany was ok with enslaving the Lhazareen is a blatant lie:
I am the blood of the dragon, Daenerys Targaryen reminded herself as she turned her face away. She pressed her lips together and hardened her heart and rode on toward the gate.
"Most of Ogo's riders fled," Ser Jorah was saying. "Still, there may be as many as ten thousand captives."
Slaves, Dany thought. Khal Drogo would drive them downriver to one of the towns on Slaver's Bay. She wanted to cry, but she told herself that she must be strong. This is war, this is what it looks like, this is the price of the Iron Throne.
"I've told the khal he ought to make for Meereen," Ser Jorah said. "They'll pay a better price than he'd get from a slaving caravan. Illyrio writes that they had a plague last year, so the brothels are paying double for healthy young girls, and triple for boys under ten. If enough children survive the journey, the gold will buy us all the ships we need, and hire men to sail them."
Behind them, the girl being raped made a heartrending sound, a long sobbing wail that went on and on and on. Dany's hand clenched hard around the reins, and she turned the silver's head. "Make them stop," she commanded Ser Jorah. - Daenerys VII AGOT
Dany has little say in what’s happening here, little agency. She is just the wife of the khal, and what he decides is what happens. This is the very first time Dany is seeing the Dothraki attack anyone (before this, she was just traveling through the Dothraki Sea to Vaes Dothrak). And she is horrified by what she is seeing. Antis love to take the line “this is the price of the Iron Throne” out of context, but looking at the context in which the line is said tells us a very different story: when Dany says "this is war, this is the price of the Iron Throne", she's not saying it because she's ok with slavery. Quite the opposite: she hates what she's seeing, and she says this to convince herself that she doesn't care, to tell herself to be strong. But it doesn't work, Dany can't look past the awful things that she is seeing, and only two paragraphs later, she starts trying to save as many women as she can, in the only way she can: by claiming those women for herself.
By the way, Dany puts herself at a huge risk by trying to protect those women, because she is defying Drogo’s men. When her khas goes to enforce her order, the Dothraki fight, and some men die trying to defend their rights to the spoils of war. Many of the men look at her with cold eyes. These men try to complain to the khal about this, and when Drogo dies and Dany loses the protection of his authority, Dany is in grave danger.
Also see this meta:
https://rainhadaenerys.tumblr.com/post/186687986788/adamparrush-dany-burning-mirri-maaz-duur-alive#notes
“Dany was murdering children in Astapor”
This is just bad reading comprehension, or this person is trying to distort things. Dany didn’t order the killing of children. She ordered only masters and soldiers to be killed, those actively fighting against her to keep slavery. She tell them not to harm any child below 12 to avoid the Unsullied killing innocents. Also, saying “don’t kill anyone under 12″ is not the same thing as saying “kill everyone over 12″, stupid anti.
Also, see this meta:
https://rainhadaenerys.tumblr.com/post/184630644137/hi-i-really-enjoy-your-blog-and-your-meta-i#notes
“Dany didn’t want the entire caravan from Astapor and Yunkai to follow her”
That’s a really dishonest distortion of the facts. This is what Dany actually says:
The raggle-taggle host of freedmen dwarfed her own, but they were more burden than benefit. Perhaps one in a hundred had a donkey, a camel, or an ox; most carried weapons looted from some slaver's armory, but only one in ten was strong enough to fight, and none was trained. They ate the land bare as they passed, like locusts in sandals. Yet Dany could not bring herself to abandon them as Ser Jorah and her bloodriders urged. I told them they were free. I cannot tell them now they are not free to join me. She gazed at the smoke rising from their cookfires and swallowed a sigh. She might have the best footsoldiers in the world, but she also had the worst. - Daenerys IV ASOS
Dany says that the freedmen are a burden. She is simply stating a fact, the freedmen are a burden. But she refuses to abandon them as her advisors urged, because she freaking cares about them, you idiot.
“The pile of bodies was high when she took Meereen”
Of course the pile of bodies was high! A battle to take the city just happened! Usually, when there’s a battle, people die, and there are bodies. I guess this idiot must think that Jon and Robb won all of their battles without killing a single soul. Let’s just pretend that none of Robb’s victories had any pile of bodies. Like, wow. What kind of argument even was this?
“They don’t talk about the torturing of the wineseller’s daughter”
Another blatantly lie. I do talk about the torture of the wineseller’s daughters in my books vs show meta, let me quote what I wrote here:
4) Then, after Dany executes Mossador in the name of a fair trial, she decides to throw “fair trial” out of the window by feeding one of the slavers to her dragons for revenge. This is something that never happens in the books. The closest we have to a problematic action like this is when Dany allows the wineseller’s daughters to be tortured. But this isn’t anywhere near as dark as feeding people to her dragons, for various reasons: 1) because Dany’s actions in the books are inserted in a context in which torture is seen as a normal and legitimate means of investigation by the society. Dany is not the only one that does this, and even honorable Jon Snow considers throwing Janos Slynt in an ice cell to force him to comply, and later throws Cregan Karstark in one. So Dany’s actions in the books are lawful, while in the show, they are not; 2) because Dany was trying to investigate. She was angry about what happened, but revenge was not the only motivation; 3) in the books, Dany learns a lesson from this and becomes the only ruler in ASOIAF to explicitly forbid torture.
Another thing that makes the dragon feeding scene so bad is that Dany tells the masters that she doesn’t care who’s innocent or not. But book Daenerys does care about it:
“We have no proof this is their work. Would you have me slaughter my own subjects?” – Daenerys IV ADWD
Feeding people to her dragons in the show was a criminal action taken by show Dany, and it was made out of revenge, with show Dany saying that she doesn’t care about innocence. This is very different from Dany in the books, and much much darker.
“They don’t talk about Dany enslaving people once she becomes queen”
I don’t talk about this because this never happened. Dany does allow people to sell themselves back into slavery, but only if they want to, and she very clearly doesn’t want to allow it:
Dany was shocked. “They want to be slaves?”
“The ones who come are well spoken and gently born, sweet queen. Such slaves are prized. In the Free Cities they will be tutors, scribes, bed slaves, even healers and priests. They will sleep in soft beds, eat rich foods, and dwell in manses. Here they have lost all, and live in fear and squalor.”
“I see.” Perhaps it was not so shocking, if these tales of Astapor were true. Dany thought a moment. “Any man who wishes to sell himself into slavery may do so. Or woman.” She raised a hand. “But they may not sell their children, nor a man his wife.” - Daenerys VI ASOS
Dany does this because she thinks it’s for the best. Because people convince her that otherwise, those people will live in fear and squalor. But she makes it very clear that no one is allowed to force another person into slavery. And actually, the majority of the former slaves choose to remain free. I write in more detail about this here:
https://rainhadaenerys.tumblr.com/post/182694132667/do-the-slaves-of-westeros-really-want-danys-help#notes
“They don’t talk about how Dany treated Irri”
You mean how Irri started to have sex with Dany on her own free will without Dany ever asking her? You mean how Dany treats Irri wih dignity, respects her consent, and makes it very clear to Irri that she doesn’t have to have sex with her if she doesn’t want it?
"Should I pleasure the khaleesi?"Dany stepped away from her. "No. Irri, you do not need to do that. What happened that night, when you woke . . . you're no bed slave, I freed you, remember? You . . ." - Daenerys II ASOS
Talk all you want about power difference, but Dany respected Irri’s consent, she treated her with dignity.
See also this meta:
https://rainhadaenerys.tumblr.com/post/187867805480/hiya-mindset-love-your-blog-i-was-reading#notes
And they continued on their bullshit:
Tumblr media
They repeat a lot of the stuff I already refuted here, but there are some more:
“Jorah killed Rhaego, not MMD”
Mirri Maz Duur admits she killed Rhaego when Dany accuses her:
Dany gestured at Ser Jorah and the others. "Leave us. I would speak with this maegi alone." Mormont and the Dothraki withdrew. "You knew," Dany said when they were gone. She ached, inside and out, but her fury gave her strength. "You knew what I was buying, and you knew the price, and yet you let me pay it."
"It was wrong of them to burn my temple," the heavy, flat-nosed woman said placidly. "That angered the Great Shepherd."
"This was no god's work," Dany said coldly. If I look back I am lost. "You cheated me. You murdered my child within me."
"The stallion who mounts the world will burn no cities now. His khalasar shall trample no nations into dust." - Daenerys IX AGOT
MMD killed an innocent child for revenge, and to prevent a supposed future. She admits it.
"She said to kill everyone in a tokar, this is every freeborn”
No, the tokar is not worn by every freeborn. The tokar is a master’s garment, and it makes it impossible to work. Those who wore it are only those who have the wealth and power and don’t have to work, aka, the freaking slave masters:
The garment was a clumsy thing, a long loose shapeless sheet that had to be wound around her hips and under an arm and over a shoulder, its dangling fringes carefully layered and displayed. Wound too loose, it was like to fall off; wound too tight, it would tangle, trip, and bind. Even wound properly, the tokar required its wearer to hold it in place with the left hand. Walking in a tokar demanded small, mincing steps and exquisite balance, lest one tread upon those heavy trailing fringes. It was not a garment meant for any man who had to work. The tokar was a master's garment, a sign of wealth and power. - Daenerys I ADWD
Ugh. Then they went on:
Tumblr media
Again, this freaking obsession antis have to convince people that they loooooove Daenerys. I could go on refuting this idiot, but it can be summed up in “You Dany stans can’t see things objectively, I’m the only one that uses logic, blah, blah, blah”. They go on to complain that Dany killed soldiers (none of their faves ever killed soldiers, right?), to say that Dany killed slaves and freed people (no, she didn’t), that you can’t see things in black and white and divide the situation into slavers and slaves (I guess they’re trying to say that Dany is bad for killing some supposedly nice slavers), blah, blah blah.
Sorry if I went off, everyone. This made me really angry. Apparently, I’m the biased one that distorts things, and not this idiot.

“What does it say?” Aman hugged Kartik closer. “It’s one of Tagore’s” If he closed his eyes, Aman was still able to hear a faint echo of the simple, joyous melody of the song from when he had heard it last years ago. Aalo aamaar, aalo ogo… “Light, my light, the world-filling light, the eye-kissing light, the light that has taken root in my heart! Ah, the light dances, my darling, at the centre of my life; the light plays, my darling, with the chords of my heart; Mirth spreads from leaf to leaf, my darling, and gladness without measure. Heaven has drowned its banks and the world is flooded with joy”

2.5D Stage Ranking (Personal Opinion) pt.2
This is the part two, the ranking of enjoyment
Top 10 in Enjoyment
This will simply be how much I enjoyed the stage. Mostly I prefer comedy so for me quite a lot of these will have a lot of funny moments but not all of them do.
This will be extremely opinionated but I will try to be positive. Weirdly even though these are the ten shows I most enjoyed, I don’t think three of them would be in my top ten favourite. Some explanations will be more emotional than others.
I will also not explain about the plot to the shows and will try to spoil as little as possible.
1. Prince of Tennis
This should come as no surprise and I won’t go into this two much but Prince of Tennis is the show that really kickstarted 2.5D in my opinion and is the show that made me absolutely fall in love with the industry. I can sing over 100 of the songs and know most of the actors names and is my absolute addiction. I just think Prince of Tennis is so fun, diverse and it’s so exciting to see all these actors who start in Prince of Tennis grow so much and appear in so many other things
2. Mankai A3
I was so surprised by A3. I didn’t really enjoy the game at first and was so confused as to why it suddenly became so popular. I must admit its popularity was one of the things that held me up watching it until I found I cheap version of Spring and Summer then gave in. I thing watched it every day for a week. This show completely pulled me in with fun songs, a compelling cast of characters and a surprising amount of emotion. (For me who did not play the game, if you did play the game, this would not have been surprising)
The company of actors is split into four groups and I was surprised how individual each group was. My favourite, summer, are the youngest of the company and I absolutely loved their play.
For anyone trying to get into 2.5d plays, this is probably where I would point them first. It is such a fun play with a perfect blend of comedy, emotion, drama and action
3. Yowamushi pedal
Disclaimer: I have only seen up until the end of Ogoe Yuuki’s run as Onoda.
While I didn’t put Yowamushi Pedal on my top 10 for quality, I don’t think it was ever trying to be a high quality show. The showrunners knew there was no way they could show people cycling on stage in a wholly serious manor if they couldn’t use actual bikes. So, they decided to change the tone of the show, which I think wouldn’t have worked in the anime but works perfectly on stage.
If I ever need cheering up Yowamushi Pedal stage is definitely something I would turn to. Every single show has me crying with laughter and it is amazing to see actors having so much fun on stage.
There are so many hilarious moments but the top two for me is when Izumida’s peck Frank, yes his pecks are anthropomorphised on stage, starts touching the other members of Hakogaku and when they are at Toudou’s inn and their cleaner is Harry Potter and he cocks his broom as fires it like a gun at two actors who are pretending to be ducks. Both make absolutely no sense but are amazing to watch and I don’t think I will ever not laugh while even thinking of them.
4. Touken Ranbu Musical
It is strange that I cry in every single musical and yet I still have an image of the musicals not being sad. I think they get the perfect blend of emotion and comedy for what they are trying to achieve. The actors, on the whole, portray their characters so well and the live segments may just be pandering to the fangirls, but I am a fangirl/fanboy and I love it. The songs fit so perfectly and I don’t think I’ve ever loved reasonably minor characters as much as I do the humans in Touken Ranbu. I think all their actors are excellent and I am slightly in love with Minamoto no Yoshitsune’s eye makeup.
The thing that sold me the most on this musical however, was none of that. I am studying Japanese and it amazes me how much actual history and Japanese culture I have learnt from these musicals. To the extent of me being able to have a conversation in Japanese about the Minamoto clan with an actual Japanese History Teacher whose favourite period of Japanese history is that period and him complimenting me on my knowledge.
Touken Ranbu also celebrates Japanese culture so much. The taiko drumming in the live, the actual drinking song included in the show and the time where they put on a festival during a live. I feel like this show is a must see for anyone who likes Japanese culture and Japan would seem to agree with me as it far outranks any other show in the industry for popularity.
While it doesn’t appeal to me in ways that the three above do I love this musical so much I can’t wait until I can see the next one.
5. Bakumatsu Rock
I keep on forgetting I’ve seen this show live as I saw it in 2015 which was a while ago and was only the third show I ever saw and I was also sick before it so I was a little delirious. But I still remember the feeling of utter joy I had leaving the theatre with Crash My Head stuck in my...head. The acting is so good, the songs are amazing and the actors look like they’re having such a good time.
I won’t go into the recast as I already mentioned that in the previous ranking but they didn’t stop me from still enjoying the final two stages. I think it was very sad that the show was so short but I don’t really want to see them bring it back.
I think what we have of the show is perfect and I love it with all m heart.
6. Aoharu Tetsudou
This is a musical I think very few people will have watched. A lot of people like it for the fact it combines a lot of Prince of Tennis actors who haven’t acted with each other in a while but while that is what originally got me into the show it is not at all why I stayed.
This somewhat factual history of different Japanese train lines is utterly insane with the strangest characters, songs and moments. And has led to some of the strangest conversations with Japanese people who know the train lines well
‘So the Rinkai line is a bit ecchi and stalks the Saikyo line’
‘Oh yeah, that makes perfect sense’
‘??? How can a train line be ecchi?’
Also, this show is unabashedly gay. There is a character who continually asks another character to marry him, three different love songs between three different couples and actual other characters saying that they are gay. While it works in a similar way to Hetalia, if countries get married they are uniting, if trains get married they become one train it is still very gay. There are also multiple instances of characters stripping and cosplaying as women.
I love this show to bits but if you are not used to Japanese acting or you want to show a musical to someone who is not used to Japanese acting, absolutely do not watch/show this musical. I love the overacting and find it hilarious but this is the most overacting I think I have ever seen in a show ever and while I think it really works for this show it will be pretty jarring if you are not used to it.
7. Hiragana Danshi
This show in my opinion is the most underrated musical in the 2.5d industry, along with Aoharu Tetsudou but even more so. The show is about letters of the Hiragana alphabet but they are more the sounds than the actual hiragana so they represent the katakana and kanji as well. Everything they like has to start with their hiragana and there are so many puns. The cast is hugely popular and talented and each one portrays their character so well. The show is so funny and you absolutely will leave with a favourite character.
The songs are very clever and, almost, all the actors have very good voices and the songs compliment them well. It’s sad that the show seemed to be such a passion project and was truly beloved by the staff and actors but there were not enough fans to ensure that there could be a second stage.
8. Bungou Stray Dogs
I don’t have very much to add from my previous comments on this show. It is exceptional as I loved the original anime I was so happy to see such a well done adaptation, that slightly made me realise that I am very attracted to Chuuya. I think this show would also be a very good introduction to 2.5d as it shows off the best aspects of the industry.
9. Mob Psycho 100
I didn’t originally enjoy the Mob Psycho anime but after I loved the stage I went back and watched the anime again and I loved it. I thought the stage was so funny and I could not think of someone more perfect than Baba Ryoma to play Reigen and I’m so happy that recently Baba Ryoma has been given more chances to play comedic characters which I really think suits him.
I don’t have very much to say about this play except I loved it and fully recommend it
10. Cells at Work
I have seen both stages as I actually managed to go see the second live last week.
While I do think I preferred the first one overall I did love the second one and I personally think that Kitamura Ryo fits with the image of White blood cell from the anime better.
The shows manage to be so funny but evoke so much emotion with Yamada James Takeshi’s performance of the cancer cell. I think it is the best acting he has ever done and really wish they had a 2.5d version of the tony’s so he could get an award for his role.
There is something about them that feels distinctly different from most other 2.5d productions in my opinion and I love it.
