Fell into a rabbit hole of rewatching Age of Calamity cutscenes (since I don't have the game) and
this game is so needlessly dramatic
"it whaaaat" - Revali
Robbie is an icon and there needs to be more of him
the DLC memory scenes are the best cutscenes in the game
Terrako singing ballad of the goddess 😭😭😭
Baby Zelda is so cute
Terrako is OP
I love how the entire game starts all dramatic and then there's just E G G
Also the opening credits of the game imply that the tapestry is about the Calamity where BOTW Link failed??? Either that or Terrako existed at the same time as the OG Calamity which works for me!
Terrako is the main character prove me wrong
Baby Sidon is too pure for this world
I like how Zelda narrates the game. You could almost see it like she's narrating it to her kids or something and I think that's really cute
Sidon's adult voice actor is so over-the-top lolll
I love Daruk so much
"None of this makes any sense" No Daruk it does not
I love Riju's voice actor
I love how Patricia gets her own name tag too
This game varies between incredibly dark to incredibly funny/corny and I love it
Astor my beloved your laugh is terrifying
Khoga is an icon too "you're my best lackey!!!"
Mipha is so tinyyyy
Urbosa is such a mom I love her so much
Hell yeah Vah Ruta flood Hyrule Field!!!
We need more evil magicians in Legend of Zelda. They're all so iconic
Rhoam is actually pretty likeable at the end of the game ngl
Baby Sidon is so so so tinyyyyyy 😭😭😭😭😭
Yunobo's eyes are so funny
Tulin is a sweetheart and not even Revali can escape his cuteness
Khoga's hair is so hard he can't put the thunder helm on oh oy goddd that's hilarious 😂😂😂
Urbosa, Rhoam, and Zelda's mom had to have been a threesome
I didn't need Khoga to be such a dad but here he is... best dad for the best lackey
Astor has followers??? Like he's a cult leader??? *stores that information away for later* Well to be fair they kinda died in the only scene they were in lol
I can tell Robbie's voice actor had a blast doing this
Also this game lowkey reads like a Kingdom Hearts game lol So much random, corny goodness is here and I love it

Finished TOTK yesterday, I have a mouth, so I must scream
Tumblr media
Be warned, the be spoilies, but TL:DR; Good Game
I don't even know where to start, maybe the boring stuff? The gameplay changes from BOTW?
I dunno, I feel like generally speaking TOTK improved upon BOTW's gameplay mechanics in every way, or simply changed neither for better or worse
Like. The Sage Powers are fine, they're fun. But I did prefer the original Champion Abilities from BOTW. I do understand why they changed the abilities the way they did, the BOTW ones were kind of... basic. Like they were game mechanics any game could have, and some of them (Revali's Gale ESPECIALLY) could have literally broken the game and/or made much of the other new abilities completely pointless. They NEEDED to change for TOTK. And so we get the Sage Powers, which were much more situational. But they also helped add challenge to the game because they weren't these get-out-of-jail cards you could pull out of your pocket to cheese through any situation. Like no Mipha's Prayer means either you make sure you have fairies in your pocket, or you heal yourself every chance you get, or you simply die. Mipha ain't got your back. Nor Daruk. Nor Urbosa. Nor Revali. It's just you and the Sages if/when their powers happen to be useful.
That said. I did miss Revali's Gale the entire time I was playing and would have exchanged literally every single other ability in the game for the Gale. It was just so convenient man
If there's one thing I WISH TOTK hadn't changed and/or kept the same, it would be the Memories. Like. I didn't dislike the system they had going with the memories, but they way they changed it WHILE keeping it the same made TOTK's Dragon Tears a worse experience than BOTW's Memories (for me at least)
You see. Based on all the dialogue through out the game, it's kind of obvious in hindsight that you were arguably meant to do the Geoglyph Quest AFTER finding AT LEAST the first four sages, maybe even after finding Mineru and/or saving the Deku Tree. And that would be fine, but the thing is.
Like. In BOTW the Memories you really had to go out of your way to find, they were sometimes pretty well hidden and hard to find after all, but in BOTW even if you did find the Memories out of order or before doing any other sidequests, they didn't really affect the story at all, right
In TOTK, they attached the Memories to GIGANTIC LANDMARKS YOU CAN SEE FROM MILES AWAY. You don't have to go looking for jack shit, the Geoglyphs will fucking find YOU instead
NOT TO MENTION, in BOTW there was a True Ending you could only unlock if you got all the Memories, right. Knowing that OF COURSE most players would go out of their way to just fucking RUSH to each Geoglyph as fast as they could, because OF COURSE we want to know what happened to Zelda and the Master Sword
And. Like I know My Experience is not universal.
But, being the massive Fi Simp that I am, immidiately after I finished the Wind Temple I headed for the Korok Forest and the Master Sword geoglyph, because I wanted to know where Fi My Beloved is and if she's fucking okay
So The Master Sword Geoglyph was literally the third memory I watched.
The one where Zelda states she's going to become an immortal dragon to reach the future.
The third memory I watched. That fucking one.
Like. I'm not saying getting spoiled on Zelda becoming the Light Dragon so early on RUINED my precious experience, I still enjoyed the game deeply despite that. But I do, really really wish, that I hadn't seen that memory until much later. Not just because it was frustrating to listen to every character be like "oh jeez I wonder where Zelda is" when I know exactly where the fuck she is, but also because it did affect my enjoyment of the rest of the memories. Like, there's a great story TOTK is telling, but I've already seen the most important part, the part I was the most invested in, the end of it. So the rest, the way we get there... kind of doesn't matter.
I feel like had they either NOT given the players advice on how to interact with the Geoglyphs so early in the game (meaning you probably wouldn't know how to see the memories until later unless you figured out how to brute force them yourself), OR had they just kept the Memories more hidden like in BOTW... IDK, I think either method would have worked better than the way TOTK ended up doing it
All that aside, I gotta say. It's not often that a story leaves me feeling as mortified, empty and sad as TOTK did. Nor as inspired and full of hope as TOTK did. Like. Normally I'm very numb and don't get invested in storie, I rarely get emotional over a story. I rarely get invested. And TOTK just managed to wack me over the head, it's genuinely impressive
Like I don't know what to say, that was so fucking good man
Like. Of course, the best parts of the story where when all the sages united together and I just WISH Nintendo would have allowed there to be more moments like that, I could not get enough and simply yearned for more. I don't even mean during gameplay, just give me a few more cutscenes man 😭
I don't even know what to say anymore. It was a good game. I don't know what to do with my life anymore now that I beat it lmao
#Moon posting#LOZ#Shout out to me when I first went to the Korok Forest#Spent like two hours trying to figure out how to get in until I realized the Depth's map matches the Surface map#And that the entrance to the forest would be in the same place#Of course. I did not remember that there was a chasm near to the entrance at all#I just knew there was a Big Chasm near Typhlo for Dinraal to use#So I just had to haul ass from all the way there#And when I finally got to the Forest Area#There's fucking GLOOM HANDS#AT THIS FUCKING POINT. I HAD ENCOUNTERED THE HANDS. ONCE. JUST FUCKING ONCE BEFORE#I did a Shrine in Central Hyrule. Came out. Walked to some trees to pick some apples. Saw something on the other side of the trees.#Before I even knew what was happening I was fucking dead#Jump scared by the god damn Gloom Hands#My only encounter#And mind you I had just barely finished the first temple. I was in no fucking way prepared to fight these fucks#But at this point I had spent so much fucking time trying to get to the Forest I didn't want to give up#So after Many Attempts (and abusing saves) I managed to somehow run past the hands and get to the actual Korok Forest#Shit it ain't good. Of course#So I go check what's wrong with the Deku Tree and. Oh. MORE GLOOM HANDS#So for like the first third of my playthrough my only goal was to get strong enough to beat the Gloom Hands and save the Deku Tree#That was the only thing I cared about. The only thing I worked towards. Must save tree and find Fi#ALSO. I DID NOT KNOW HESTU WAS AT LOOKOUT LANDING#Don't think I even went to the Landing after leaving it. So as far as I knew when Hestu left Tabantha it meant he was on his way to home#And just wouldn't appear at the Korok Forest until the Deku Tree was saved#So I played with no extra inventory slots for a GOOD LONG WHILE#WHICH DID NOT HELP WITH THE GLOOM HANDS#This game was so scary like. It did not have to go so hard on being scary and yet it did

Anyways idk if anyone cares but beloved mutuals here are my thoughts on botw:
it was fun and a really nice game and I managed to complete it even if I suck at videogames so like. Gameplay wise I can't say anything about it except maybe that I keep forgetting which button does what but tbh that might just be me being stupid again❤ OH another gameplay thing I didn't like was my horsie being in danger. Stay away from her get a job!!!!!! Also all the times I got stuck in rivers and ravines and such and had to reload a previous save file bc I felt bad teleporting and leaving my horse down there :/
Plot wise I think I really liked the beginning of the game the most, it's still good as it progresses but I kept asking myself some questions that maybe are just really stupid and/or I just missed the answer to it but like. Yeah. 1. how the fuck did all the champions die against ganon? I can understand mipha bc she's a healer but urbosa??? Daruk who should be unkillable with his shield? Like girl I get link is special but this doesn't add up to me :/ 2. Why did zelda's powers never manifest before? 3. Where the hell did zelda grab that horsie from (during the final battle) like that is NOT one of my horsies
But yeah I'm still playing it and doing some side quests rn so maybe this^ will change
Also I guess I didn't really like how calamity ganon doesn't say anything like he's just there like. What is going on with him.......... I haven't played totk yet so I hope there's more about ganon in there but I'm a little sad about this for now (sidenote I did NOT think his battle was underwhelming GIRL it was annoying enough already having to wait for daruk's power to recharge bc I ran out shields and I still had to deflect that laser to kill him like. Do not add anything else. please. ❤❤)
Now for the open world, I really like open worlds in theory bc I love exploring but this place seems so empty? There are so many areas where it's just grass and like. Girl not even a pebble? Some fruit to grab? Girl? Also there should have been more recipes to cook they need to let me make scaloppine please please please you're nothing
But yeah it was fun and I kept dying in stupid ways and I can't wait to play the sequel!!!! I miss midna tho
Complimentary pic of my kitty yawning to thank you for reading my thoughts:

hi @transzeldas!! i decided to make u an extra gift,,,ily beloved /plat uhh its the art prompt you gave (legend braiding wilds hair), but in writing form! ao3 link; here!
“Your hair is a mess. We can’t go with you like that.” “What’s wrong with my hair?”Wild frowned. Really, Wild’s hair is unkempt. It’s a complete mess and Legend hates that. “Wild. I do not care if I have to tie you to a chair—you are not walking out of my house like that.” “Legend, that’s a little overboard—” “Stay out of this, Twi.” “We can’t fix it, anyways.”Wild argued, crossing his arms. “I don’t have anything.” “Yeah? Well I do. Sit your ass down.” Wild pouted, but sat at the nearby table. He thinks his hair is fine.. Besides, Legend was complaining about going to this party anyways, why does it matter if they all look good or not? Legend returned soon enough, a brush, some hair ties and a box in hand. “What’s in the box?” “Some hair accessories I made. Now, sit still. Nobody distract me or him.” Wild blinked, wincing when Legend simply placed the box onto the table and started brushing his hair. “Goddesses, Wild, your hair is so thick…why do you ruin it like this?” “You almost sound jealous.”Wild mumbled sarcastically. “Eh. Not really. My hair’s just as thick as this. It’s just a shame you don’t take care of it.” “...I didn’t expect you to know much about hair care.”Warriors blinked, leaning on a wall. “There’s a lot you guys don’t know.”Legend shrugged. “But my best friend is the princess of a fashion empire. I gotta know this stuff.” “Best friend, huh?”Wind giggled. Legend shot Wind a look before going back to Wild’s hair. “Why does it matter how we look?” “Because. Fable wants me to look good, and you’re all associated with me, so you have to look good too.” “Why does she care how you look? You haven’t changed anything about your appearance..” “Well, yeah.”Legend whistled, getting the knots out of Wild’s hair. “That’s why we’re goin early. I’m getting changed in the castle.” “What?”Hyrule blinked. “Why..?” “Fable is insisting I try wearing a corset.”Legend shuddered. “Not looking forward to it. I’ve helped Sty put her corset on before? Looks painful.” “So..this thing we’re going to.”Twilight whistled. “What is it?” “Fable insisted on it, but…ugh. It’s been exactly 10 years since I first saved the kingdom. She thinks it’s something to celebrate. Anyways, enough about me. Wild, what’s your favourite colour?” “Hm? Oh…”Wild paused, thinking. What is his favourite colour? He does like the blue on his tunic… But he also liked the blackish-blue of Revali’s feathers, the fiery-red of Urbosa’s hair, the reddish-pink of Mipha, and the orange of Daruk’s ability—Daruk’s protection. “Um…what if…I have multiple?” “Then tell me what they are.” “...even if they’re specific?” “Yep!” Wild faltered, trying to put it into words. “What’s this for?” “Ribbons.” Wild’s eyes lit up. “Can you show me them? So I don’t have to explain…” “Sure. Gimme a sec.”Legend spun on their heel, walking off. Legend returned in time, with two boxes. “I have—”Legend groaned, dropping the boxes on the table. “Every colour you can think of!” Wild nodded, looking through the boxes. He carefully picked out the five colours—the blue of his tunic and the colours that reminded him of the champions. Legend hummed upon seeing the ribbons. “Nice colours. Pretty, too. Alright.”They shoved the boxes further back on the table, taking the ribbons from Wild. “You have to stay still for me, alright? I know it’ll be difficult..” “Okay.”Wild nodded. Carefully, Legend started pulling Wild’s hair back into a braid—threading the ribbons through as they did. They left some hair in the front untouched, but Wild figures they’re doing something with that.. “You’re good at this, Legend.”Time observed quietly. “How so?” “Fable gets me to braid her hair sometimes…I braid Hilda’s hair sometimes too.” “Uh…question.”Hyrule winced. “Who…is Hilda?” “Princess of Lorule.” “Another princess?”Warriors laughed. “That’s three! Didn’t take you for a ladies man.” “I am not!”Legend glared at Warriors, tying the end of the braid with a pink hair tie. “Sorry about the hair tie, I only own pink ones.” “Are you done yet?”Wild questioned, curious. “Not yet. Just one more thing..”Legend started
rummaging through the original box they had brought. Then, they sat on the table in front of Wild and started putting something—beads?—through his hair. They were in so many colours, but mostly shades of blue. Then, Legend pulled out one final accessory. It’s a golden cuff, with a black triforce on it. “Silver doesn’t suit you. Sorry.”Legend laughed, pinning the two beaded sections of hair back and pinning them above the start of the braid using the cuff. “There! All done!”Legend grinned, backing up. Wild blinked, glanced at his sheikah slate, and handed it to Twilight. “Can you..take a picture for me? I wanna see.” Twilight paused, then smiled. “Sure thing, cub.” After the picture was taken, Wild immediately went to look at it and— He loves it.

Little Lynel Man (part 14; BONUS)
[Tigo the Lynel AU]
MASTERLIST
~~~~~~~
hi!! so thank u so much @thebattlecats2001 for this extra request fleshing out more of tigo and reader and their place in the alternate timeline w the champion successors
i wanted to make it a little different since you've got such a great idea and this is wrapping up this version of the tigo au! the request is summarized down below :)
all credit to @thebattlecats2001 for the ideas presented in this!!
~~~~~~~
The fight with Ganon is over, so the warriors gather for one final banquet while they swap stories. The successors from the future tell about the brave efforts of Tigo and the reader from their timeline, and how they paid honor to them over the years.

Tumblr media
~~~~~~~
Calamity Ganon was sealed away for good, which meant that it was time to celebrate!
The king arranged an impromptu banquet in what was left of the castle, gathering food and supplies and whatever they could. The heroes of Hyrule deserved only the best, of course.
You were ushered away from helping clear debris and aiding the injured by Zelda, intent on telling you about the celebration that would happen later. Once everything was tended to, you met with the Champions, their successors, Zelda, and Tigo in a courtyard lit by lanterns.
It was a truly beautiful sight, the worn and weathered smiles of your colleagues gleaming in the lamplight. The food on the spread makeshift table looked absolutely wonderful, making your stomach growl in anticipation.
You settled in next to Link with Tigo on your other side. You looked up at your Lynel, smiling at his bright eyes taking in the bountiful food and anxiously awaiting the chance to dig in.
"Before we begin," King Rhoam announced from the head of the table, "it would be my absolute pleasure to congratulate the Champions of Hyrule on their success at defeating Calamity Ganon!"
There was a loud round of applause as the Champions, including Tigo, nodded in acknowledgement.
"Lest we forget the wonderful help from their friends, as well!" Zelda stood up and gestured to the successors, most of whom looked bashful. "Without their strength, we would not be here to celebrate together."
There was another round of applause for the successors, and then the feast began. You and Tigo feverishly dug into the food in front of you, filling the cavern of your stomachs. It wasn't until you were well into the second course that Sidon spoke up from across from you.
"It's truly amazing that I have gotten to see you again, dear [Y/N]," he said, watching you as you dabbed a napkin around your mouth. "It's been quite a long time."
"So you've said," you smiled at him. "Tell me, Sidon, does anyone else remember us from your time? It's still weird to know that Tigo and I...well, we didn't make it in your time, right?"
"Correct," Sidon nodded solemnly. "You and your Lynel sacrificed yourselves alongside the princess and Link to stop Calamity Ganon. And when Link came back, we wished that perhaps you had survived the same fate as well. But we learned that such was not the case."
Tigo paused from eating, tuning in to Sidon's change in demeanor. Tigo purred softly, catching Sidon's attention and bringing a smile to his face. Sidon reached forward and patted one of Tigo's paws affectionately.
"Fear not, old friend," Sidon offered, "we still remember you. The Zora greatly appreciated everything you and [Y/N] did for the Zora and the entirety of Hyrule. There's a grand statue at the front of the Zora Domain to pay homage to you both, spear and all. The elders that fought alongside the two of you tell the young guppies of all your valiant efforts! Your memory will never be forgotten."
"That's absolutely admiring," Mipha looked up at her brother. She turned to you with a sure look in her eyes. "I'll make sure that construction on that starts right away. You two have done so much for the Zora, and we have only begun to thank you."
"Oh, that's not necessary," you blushed, waving the praise off. "Tigo just loves the Zora, and it was all no problem! Really."
"Don't the Gorons have something as well?" Sidon turned to Yunobo who blinked up, startled. All attention turned to the little Goron, making him sink into himself a little with a shy smile.
"Uh, yeah!" He squeaked. "Yeah, we do. Tigo has this huge statue right up by the statues of the other great Gorons!" His face fell momentarily: "From what I heard, the Gorons were devastated to hear of the passing of Tigo and his tamer, [Y/N]. He was a beloved warrior and strong soul, so it wasn't a question about paying some sort of homage to him."
Tigo brightened up, growling kindly and urging Yunobo to go on.
"There's this legend that Tigo's spirit gives the Gorons their fighting spirit," Yunobo explained, looking around animatedly. "It's the only reason why the Gorons survived as much of the Calamity as they did. Legend has it that we owe Tigo a lot, and from fighting next to him I can see why! Every half-moon we hold a ceremony and offer up the best rock roast to the statue of Tigo so that he gives us our fighting spirit to live on another day. It's a really cool time."
"That definitely sounds like something the Gorons would do," Daruk smirked, reaching over to pat Tigo on the back heavily. "You deserve it, little Lynel man!"
"It's hard to believe that the Rito would ever be as showy as that," Revali scoffed, crossing his feathers. He looked over at Teba. "Please tell me you're more refined than that."
"Actually," Teba began, making Revali throw his head back with a soft groan, "our statue for Tigo and [Y/N] is arguably the most attractive out of the others in Hyrule."
There was a moment of arguing between the successors, which just made you laugh and look over at Link who was also smiling at his friends. Tigo gave a soft roar, telling Teba to continue.
"First of all, it's made of the finest wood surrounding the Hebra Region," Teba leaned forward as he got into the story. "It's decorated with flowers and stands right at the entrance to Rito Village. Tigo's bow was recovered from the Calamity, and it's still kept with Revali's bow and the Rito Elder. Every year there's a competition between the younger Rito that takes place at the archery range, and whoever wins gets to take home Tigo's bow and is tasked with taking care of it."
"I'd have to argue that the Gerudo have a much more glamorous statue," Riju jumped in excitedly. "It's this massive stone statue in the middle of Gerudo Town, and it has the most lovely gems decorating it! I've heard such wondrous stories of [Y/N] and her bravery and strength when it came to raising and taming Tigo." She turned to you and Tigo, smiling widely. "I'm so grateful that I was able to witness your bond in person! It's much more amazing than just the stories. We have you riding Tigo's back and wielding your sword and shield, of course. It's the most adored object in the entire town, and I will make sure it stays that way."
You smiled, patting Tigo's hide and leaning on him. You were so glad that even though you had to sacrifice yourselves in the other timeline that it was done and acknowledged. You would have done it even if it wasn't praised, of course, but it was amazing to see how many lives you and your Lynel had impacted and for such a long time! Your heart warmed at the thought.
Sidon went on to continue how the rest of Hyrule took the passings of you and Tigo. You sadly learned that many of the surviving Hylians thought that you and Tigo were simply myths. They didn't seem to believe that taming a Lynel was even possible, mainly because the monsters had gotten so much more dangerous in their 100 years of Calamity.
The Sheikah, however, still tried to keep your memory alive. Sidon told you about Impa's attempts to pass along the stories of you and Tigo through the ages. Many of the elders in Karkariko were solely responsible for keeping your memory alive, and you had much to thank them for. You half wished that you could go back to their time and tell Impa how much you appreciated her efforts even after so long.
Sidon also told Tigo how he was a legend among blacksmiths in his Hyrule, and how Tigo's skills were incredibly sought after and the goal of many blacksmiths. There was even a myth that if you were a young apprentice to a blacksmith and were exceeding in your skills, you would get visited by the spirit of Tigo and given a blessing of strength to become one of the best blacksmiths in the history of Hyrule.
Of course there was no concrete evidence to this myth, but it made Tigo exceptionally excited nonetheless.
And that was that. You may have suffered a terrible fate in that separate timeline, but in this one you didn't. You were still alive to see another day with Link, Tigo, and Zelda, and surrounded by the best friends you could ask for.
The successors were summoned back to their time soon enough, and the goodbye was tearful but sweet. Both sides had gotten closure, and all there was to look forward to was tomorrow.
Age of Calamity provided a chance to revisit a lot of beloved characters from Breath of the Wild. However, a lot of them were very different from what I expected. Here’s my analysis!
Link simultaneously got so much better and so much worse. I'm happy that they made him more expressive, and we got to see him eating rocks, crushing on Zelda, being bros with Daruk, and even smiling. However, I'm very disappointed that they essentially took away his entire character arc: he is no longer affected by his burden as the hero, and he basically only exists to be a flawless pillar of support for others (I made another post further explaining this issue).
Zelda is another character I have mixed feelings about. I loved seeing her lead the Hylian armies and deliver some thrilling speeches. Obviously, I'm also glad that she was playable, with movesets based on both the Sheikah Slate and her sealing powers. My biggest complaint is... why weren't her combat capabilities ever shown in story cutscenes? Basically every cutscene emphasizes how "vulnerable" she is, and how she always needs Link to protect her (yes, even after she awakens her sealing power!) It's honestly ridiculous. Her personality in this game sometimes just felt really meek compared to what I expected based on the trailers and BotW, and I feel like her fun/nerdy/enthusiastic side is really diminished. I know she’s very insecure on the inside, but I really wish she’d had a more confident facade.
Don't get me wrong, I think King Rhoam's a major asshole, but he did a much better job redeeming himself in this game than he did in BotW. He actually recognized the value of Zelda's research and offered a legitimate apology, rather than, you know, waiting until he was dead. That scene in the Temple of Time wasn't perfect, but it did leave me hating the king somewhat less.
Seeing Impa, Purah, and Robbie in their young adulthood is awesome. I wasn’t expecting Impa to be such a goofball, but I’m here for it--she’s entertaining while also being kind and supportive. I was expecting Purah to be such a goofball, however, and she totally delivered. She and Robbie perfectly captured the Mad Scientist Energy that I always hoped they’d have. Young Robbie was also a whole lot more charming than I expected....
Urbosa didn't change much from BotW as far as I can tell. She continues to play twin roles as a ruthless warrior and a mother figure to Zelda, and she does both very well. I would have liked to see more content regarding her relationship to the late Queen, but maybe that's hidden elsewhere in the game and I just haven't seen it yet.
Daruk!!!! Oh my goodness, I love Daruk in this game. Once again, he's not that much different from how he was in BotW, but we got to see much more of his friendships with the others, especially Link! He's such a wholesome and unproblematic dude. Probably my favorite of the Champions.
I've heard a lot of criticism about the way this game characterized Revali, and I think it's all valid. BotW Revali was kind of a lovable rival, whose snobbishness was just a facade: he was extremely hardworking and not entirely cold at his core. AoC Revali was honestly just really mean.
Mipha was probably my least favorite character in BotW: she totally lacked a personality, and the way she fell in love with and pursued Link was really creepy, over-the-top, and just lazily thrown into the narrative. AoC's version of Mipha was somewhat better--she was kind, a good fighter, and had some actual traits aside from just being in love--but at the end of the day she was still kind of boring, and honestly it wasn't enough to remedy the sour impression her character left on me in BotW.
None of the new-gen champions seem that different than before, but it was fun to see them interact with people from out of their time. Mipha meeting adult Sidon is wholesome. Daruk and Urbosa essentially meeting their grandchildren is super wholesome. Revali and Teba had good vibes as well.
Hestu and Master Kohga managed to get even more entertaining. I think they really benefit from having full voice acting. Kohga also got himself a man and a redemption arc. We love to see it.
TLDR: Age of Calamity sheds new light on a lot of beloved characters, but it also leaves a lot to be desired. There's also way too much emphasis on Link being perfect/powerful and Zelda being viewed as weak/vulnerable, which in my opinion makes the Zelink dynamic in this game pretty boring and underwhelming, despite how much everybody else is hyping it up. Still, there were a lot of moments I enjoyed!
You know that feeling when the author gives this one character so much attention. Like, a lot of attention? Yeah this is the consequences of that attention
Ok I'm hopping on the ship rating train so this goes out to @botwstoriesandsuch since its their fault.
10. I have Teba x Saki here cause they're really adorable and Saki has to deal with her husband being a chaotic dumbass
5/10
9. Here is my only Daruk ship which is Daruk x him being aroace. Why? Oh because I said so.
6/10 no I am not projecting shut up
8. Revali x Mipha comes next cause HWAOC maked me like them. Revali beings caring and soft to her makes my heart melt
7/10
7. Did I fall in love with yiga husbands? Absolutely. I'm pretty sure Kohga fell in love the moment he saw Sooga with his huge ass swords that are definitely taller than him. Sooga didn't realize he fell in love until his dying breath, hoping Kohga got away safely
7/10 oops I'm sad now :-)
6. So here I got Zelda x Impa cause I really think they would be cute, since the game shows that Impa puts a lot of effort into caring for zelda. Zelda would also fall for the badass ninja.
7/10
5. Now we got Zelpha because I love them. Have you seen the way Mipha spins on her trident like a badass? Zelda sure has and she panicking. Did yall see Zelda destroy the fucking Calamity (after link fuckin jumped up 30ft to slice the fucker in half)? Mipha sure as hell did and she's having her bisexual awakening so she double panicking
8/10
4. Here i have platonic Robbie x Purah cause they're chaotic gay scientists who tease Impa for being their token straight friend (even though she gay for zel)
8/10
3. The only one Urbosa can be shipped with is the Queen of Hyrule. I personally think the queen and the fucker king rhoam were in an arranged marriage and the queen and Urbosa got married at Gerudo Town. The two talk shit about the King a lot (since they're married) so when the queen died of illness Urbosa 100% thinks Rhoam had her assassinated and absolutely wants to kill him but she has no proof.
9/10
2. One of my favorites: King Rhoam x Me hunting him for sport. Need I continue?
16/10 each extra point is for everyone who would hunt him with me. Points will always vary but will never drop below this number.
1. A surprise to no one: Revalink. Yes I love them. Enemies to lovers? Yes. The banter? I'd die. The puns? Abso-fucking-lutely. And I'm totally not projecting onto either of them why would anyone think that definitely not.
10/10
Champion Daruk:
Alright, my beloved Goron Champion. My first Legend of Zelda game was Ocarina of Time (behind my brothers back of course because he was incredibly protective of his video games, and in his mind, video games were for boys only. I said pft and played it when he wasnt home, oh, little rebel me...). When I encountered the Gorons, and learned that they ate rocks I was like what? They eat rocks? Who would want to eat rocks? Then I learned they lived literally outside of a volcano and my tiny wee brain went THATS SO COOL! But that is all in the past. I didn't enjoy nearly eating my entire food supply up to Goron City in BOTW (watching Link smoke was very sad and I promised I'd never put him through that kind of pain again), but it was a learning experience! Anyways---
I simply adore Daruk. I'm thankful they didnt make his character the brawn and no brain type...I send many thanks to the character developers... I laughed so loudly when the memory of Link and Daruk played and Daruk slaps Link nearly into the ground! I find him to be someone who is incredibly grounded, a leader, someone to look up to, and he cares so much about the other Champions and Zelda and Link...especially in the memory when Calamity Ganon strikes. He is the first one to Zelda and...I might have cried a bit to be honest. Daruk is someone I would love to be around without a doubt. As long as I'm not burning to death, obviously.
POV》
it's been a long day in the mines, around the Death Mountain, and dealing with the improvement on Vah Rudania, so you hit up the legendary hot springs, other Champions are present as they all learn to love and enjoy the life around the rusty red mountain, it was easy to tell which Champions werent made for the intense heat and who were, once the task was done (for the day), you had a thought go through your mind, you've always wanted to look into an active volcano, why, well, it seemed to be such a thrill! Once everyone leaves to go to Hyrule Castle, you ask Daruk if he could lead you up to the peak of Death Mountain, he isnt sure at first, but gladly agrees once he throws on the Flamebreaker's armor on you without warning, it is a little bit to large (or small, or fits just right) for your frame, it bangs around as you try to move, Daruk laughs, picks you up, and puts you on his shoulder, he point up to the highest peak and promises to make your wish come true.
Prompt Challenge #2
Prompt: “Alyss eats a mighty banana around the campfire with the Champions”
WARNING - Slightly NSFW
    It was the middle of summer in the Kingdom of Hyrule and the Princess was in the very beginning of her trip to unlocking her power gifted by the Goddess. The closer the group got to the Faron Region, the more they felt as though they were absolutely swimming in soup which made almost everyone miserable. Alyss walked next to Mipha who had no issue with the humidity while Daruk, Urbosa, and Revali followed behind.
    “Must we walk through this abhorrent weather,” Revali asked more than annoyed at the wet air, “my feathers are starting to matte.” He held out his wings and tried flapping them to dry them off to no avail.
    “Aww, worried about our image are we,” Alyss asked over her shoulder, not catching the daggers Revali threw her way as she snickered at her clever comment. “Don’t worry Princess we should be there soo-” she kept on until she was cut off by a large lightning bolt striking too close to the company for anyone’s liking. At this new storm, the Princess and Urbosa led everyone to a nearby cavern to escape the rain and potential danger which was well received by the rest of the group.
    When inside of the cave, Alyss helped Link start a campfire before sitting down between Mipha and Daruk, pulling her knees to her chest. She watched as everyone took their time getting settled and comfortable by the fire, but the most interesting person for her to watch was Revali. Smirking, she watched as he quietly preened his wet feathers trying to get out the matting his sweat caused.
    “I can’t wait to get back somewhere cooler, this is embarrassing,” he mumbled angrily. His comments were ignored for the most part by the group, however when he was finished his emerald eyes made contact with Alyss’s purple ones. He furrowed his eyebrows as he continued to hold her eye contact, silently asking what her deal was, but eventually his frustration in her lack of an answer caused him to “tch” and turn away.
    “Well,” Urbosa started, walking back to the group and sitting against the wall of the small cave. “This storm doesn’t seem to be letting up anytime soon and it would be extremely dangerous to walk around in it so we should take this time to rest.” Everyone seemed pretty frustrated by the sudden storm but as far as Alyss can remember the Faron region was always ravaged by random storms.
    Alyss sighed and reached into her small bag and pulled out a hand of bananas that she had picked off of a tree she found while walking the terrain. Her eyes held a certain glimmer of excitement as she had not had a mighty banana in quite a while and she was excited to partake in the sweet taste of the yellow fruit again. After offering a banana from the hand to each person in the group, Alyss slowly peeled the yellow flesh of the fruit back to expose the soft, white meat.
    Using her tongue to wet her lips in anticipation of the taste, Alyss took her time in eyeing up the banana in excitement . Little did she know that a certain grumpy Champion had been intently watching her. Said Champion found it hard to pull his eyes away from the look Alyss had been giving the fruit, but the booming voice of their beloved Goron had broken his, less than pure, train of thought.
    “So Alyss, indulge us, when was the last time you had a mighty banana?” he chuckled before slapping her on the back a little more gently than he would have to Link. “You look like you’re excited to devour it.” Daruk finished as Alyss looked up at him with pure child-like wonder glimmering in her eyes.
    Nodding her head she rocked until she was on her knees, careful not to get the fruit dirty, so she could see Daruk’s face a little better over his shoulder. “Ah,” she uttered as she sucked in a breath. This small noise did not help the predicament that the brooding Champion had found himself in when he was watching her devour her banana with her eyes. “You see Daruk, I cannot remember the last time I indulged in a mighty banana, but-” she laughed reminenscently and laid her small hand on Daruk’s arm, “- 10,000 years will fade some memories.” Daruk joined her in her merriment, as did everyone else, as they waited with baited breath for her to take a bite.
    It wasn’t long before she gave everyone what they wanted. Revali watched with a sharpness and hidden eagerness that he honestly had never experienced before. She was eating a banana, it wasn’t anything new. He has witnessed plenty of his kind partaking in the delicious fruit that travelers would bring, but no Rito made him internally squirm as much as Alyss did. She was infuriating. She was delightful. She made walking with the company easier to manage while simultaneously making him wish he didn’t have to look at her at all. Revali watched as Alyss’s soft, pink lips wrapped over the tip of the banana so she could take a small, testing bite. The sight caused Revali to suck in a slightly audible breath but quickly he covered it up with a fake cough. Revali turned his head, pretending to not care, considering he couldn’t excuse himself from the situation, but he had no idea that Link had heard and witnessed his reaction to the Sheikah and was silently planning.
    “Well,” Princess Zelda said excitedly, breaking the slight tension in the air emanating from Revali. “How was it?” The Princess finished practically jumping up and down where she sat. She seemed to share the thoughts of everyone else in the group except Revali who was pretending he could absolutely care less.
    “Oh goddess it’s absolutely amazing,” Alyss moaned happily unknowingly causing Revali’s skin to crawl in a sensation he tried not to humor. Alyss went on to happily muse about the delicious fruit with the other Champions until the storm had finally lifted.
    “Finally,” Revali shouted as he jumped up to his feet and walked outside, slightly catching everyone off guard. The moon had started to rise just barely letting Revali know it had been about an hour or so since they had to take cover. “The storm is lifted and we should get to the Spring before another one pops up.” He motioned to the others before creating a gale and using it to scout how much further they had to go. Not long passed before everyone was up and ready to continue on their trek through the humid, slightly cooler, woods of the Faron area. There were a few fights with Lizalfos and Bokoblins before they got to the ruins, but coupled with the day’s travel time, most of the companions decided that they needed to set up camp and continue to the Spring at dawn. Everyone headed to bed pretty quickly after that except Alyss who had wandered off not knowing that a certain Rito was following.
    Revali silently cursed Link who had been sitting up and saw Alyss leaving the campsite. Why he had to be the one to follow after her he didn’t know, but Link looked pretty concerned. Revali was still pretty stuck on the banana incident so much so that he barely registered when Alyss stopped in front of a large lake. The clouds had finally departed allowing the rays of the almost full moon to shine down and seemingly illuminate her skin and hair. Revali paused by a tree, still hidden in the woods, and watched as the Sheikah started to let her hair down. The bottom of her hair licked the middle of her thighs, hiding from view the shape of her curvy body, but brought extra attention to her feminine legs.
    Once again he found himself enchanted by the mere sight of her. Not knowing what possessed him, Revali stepped out into the open view of the woods and crossed his arms as she bent over to wet her face with the lake’s water. “It’s not smart to go wandering the woods without protection this late,” he started, smirking internally at his unintentional spooking of the woman in front of him. “But, thankfully, you had the luck of someone with my special skill set following you.” He taunted not bothering to wipe the smirk from his face as his emerald eyes continued to roam her being, taking a mental picture of the way the moon illuminated her irritated posture.
    “I can take care of myself thanks,” she spat back at him in irritation, placing her hand on her hip. “What are you doing here Revali? Come to get your feathers wet?” Alyss asked, taunting him back which both infuriated and excited him. Normally women practically fell at his feet in reverence, but Alyss’s demeanor towards him was angering and intoxicating. Alyss watched as the dark blue Rito took a small step forward, his eyes held nothing Alyss could decipher as they held her gaze.
    “In a manner of speaking,” he whispered, afraid that if he spoke his weak attempt at flirting any louder he would shatter the air around them. He was close enough to her now that if he wanted to reach out and touch her he could. His gaze never leaving hers, he continues in the same hushed manner he spoke in before, “you infuriate me.”
    Alyss furrowed her eyebrows and watched out of her peripheral vision as he took another small step forward. She refused to back down from whatever this was and stood her ground despite the harsh, loud beating in her chest. “Excuse me?” She scoffed slightly offended. “You’re one to talk.”
    Revali chuckled, genuinely amused by her expression of feelings. He could read in her face that his words had offended her, so - naturally - he decided to tease her. “I’m sorry to offend your grace,” he smirked, taking another step closer to her. He was definitely close enough now to fully wrap his wing around her and pull her into him if he wanted to. Which of course he didn’t. Right? “I was merely stating that you frustrate me.”
    Alyss still didn’t move, but this time she completely dead panned. “Geez, thank you for that clarification. Now if you don’t mind I-” she couldn’t finish her sentence as Revali had started to advance more. The look that took over his gaze made her heart skip a beat as she had seen it before in her previous love’s eyes, but never did she expect to see it in Revali of all people. With every couple of words he took a step and forced her to step backwards to the nearest stone column.
    “You infuriate me in the fact that I can barely control myself around you. You infuriate me with the way you talk about and look so excited over trivial things.” Revali had completely managed to back her into the closest stone column before he reached out, grabbed one of her wrists, and pinned it up against the cool stone. “But you want to know the thing you have done to become the biggest nuisance in my life?” He asked more of a rhetorical question. “It’s the way that you have unabashedly taken over my thoughts. I mean-” he scoffed annoyed, “- I can’t go one day without thinking about you in some form or fashion, and the banana incident today did not help.” He growled.
    Alyss took a moment to take in and digest everything Revali had said to her. What she did with the banana that would have made him irritated, she couldn’t figure out, but she could hear the obvious frustration and need in his voice. Deciding to roll with it, Alyss reached her hand up and cupped the side of his face, soft feathers tickling her wrist. “Mmm,” she mewled, “since you liked it so much, maybe I should eat another delicious banana right now?”
    Revali felt his gaze darken as he took in her obvious teasing manner, his grip on her wrist tightening just like the air in his airway. “Maybe you should,” he whispered, giving her the answer to her teasing he hoped she desired. The tension in the air grew between the two adults. All Alyss could feel was the soft feathers of his pressing against her body. All she could see was his chest rising and falling in deep, uneven breaths as his eyes continued to hold her gaze wondering who would make the first move.
             Alyss slowly moved her hand down his chest, the sexual tension growing, as she started to fall to her knees. Just as quick as she had kneeled, she jumped back up with crimson red cheeks as a chuckling was heard from the woods. Her head snapped to the direction to find Link standing against a tree with his arms crossed and a smirk across his face. He raised an eyebrow and zipped his mouth shut before walking back to the campsite with everyone else.
            Revali felt furious, frustrated, embarrassed, and confused all at the same time for the situation that had just transpired. Trying to play it off he started walking towards the woods. "We should get back before anyone else notices we're gone," revali murmured tensely.
             All Alyss could do was follow along, still extremely embarrassed at what she was about to do. She wondered, as she watched the Rito's back, if this would make things more interesting.
ok i still havent gotten the secret ending but farming for it might take me a bit so im gonna make a thoughts post for age of calamity now:
Major spoilers obvs so ill put it under a read more
things i enjoyed:
revali beatdown simulator
the controls for the divine beasts are a bit clunky, but i think the angles they used for them did an excellent job at really making the player feel like we were actually controlling a divine beast. so i think it was done well.
link’s personality really gets to shine full force in this game with the amount of cut scenes and it was wonderful to see
every character clearly had a lot of love put into how they operate. they truly all feel unique, & all of their play styles fit them really well in my opinion
the game does a really good job of making you understand what a real threat the monsters are. like in botw they’re intimidating at first, but once you’re far enough into the game they become just an inconvenience to work around if anything. this game managed to actually make certain monsters intimidating for me again, and i think that’s a real accomplishment
the blight battles are actually somewhat challenging in this game and that is truly a commendable achievement lol i think all the bosses are good tbh. i didnt rly dislike or not enjoy any of them.
the way daruk and link’s friendship & urbosa’s motherly relationship towards zelda got to shine was. so good. it’s all i could’ve ever wanted
seeing the descendants again was really nice & it was awesome to see the champions interacting with them!! especially sidon and mipha omggggg. that was. really fucking good shit
kohga. just. kohga in general. getting to see more of him was really rad, he’s such a fun guy! and his english va was Excellent. you could really tell he was having a lot of fun playing him, and it was lovely to see! :)
zelda getting to really shine in this game was also lovely to see. and her being so assertive and badass by the end? omg. it was so wonderful especially after botw. man.
the combat is done very well imo. im rly glad that they took so many elements from botw, but also added their own flares to make it feel fresh. it was rad.
sidon’s tagline is “winning smile” and his power is “boundless optimism” and i think that’s beautiful
the music in this game is SOOOOO good oh my god. multiple times during playing i had to pause to just appreciate it. it’s pretty much all remixes of botw with a few originals for the new characters, but they all slap. there was not a single song in this game i didn’t like. it is definitely one of my favorite video game soundtracks officially. maybe one of my favorite overall soundtracks in general tbh.
the visuals obviously look just like botw, but it still looked fucking gorgeous at some points. like. man. they really went off to make it look not only faithful to botw as far as appearance goes, but also as far as capturing botw’s beauty and it was. excellent to see!
if anything is true to botw’s backstory, it’s definitely how op link is. cause he was established to be op in botw, & when u finish botw he is also op as hell. he is so fun to play as the higher leveled he gets. he absolutely kicks ass. especially with a two-handed weapon??? daaaaammmmnnn. thats my badass baby boy!!!!
link eating rocks not once, but TWICE. just showing PEAK gremlin energy. 10/10 for those scenes they were great
the ending was really beautiful actually and i did cry like a little baby for it what about it
things i didn’t like:
obviously first and foremost.. this is not the game we were advertised. and no matter how much i overall enjoyed the game, it will always have some layer of being tainted attached to it due to the false advertising. this is not the prequel we thought we’d be getting. & not using “prequel” specifically doesn’t matter when all the advertising, including the box art talks about this being the story of what happened 100 years ago. with no indication it wasn’t the story of what happened 100 years ago in the botw timeline, but a separate universe/timeline entirely. i do hope we get dlc for the game at some point giving us what we were advertised, but at the same time... rly wish that the story that’s in the final game was dlc, & the story we were promised was the original :/ or just having the game have two separate storylines originally would’ve been cool. i just wish it wasn’t falsely advertised.
fort hateno can fucking eat my whole entire shit WHY is that part so needlessly obnoxious compared to everything else oh my god
being forced to fulfill revali’s power fantasy TWICE hurt my soul
fuck any mission where you have to protect the useless hylian guards. i hate them. they suck.
the ai for player characters when you aren’t playing as them can also be pretty useless. it was really frustrating failing missions because my fellow party members weren’t helping me, and i was basically expected to be in two places at once to get shit done myself. :/ ik you can just switch between characters to make it easier, but like. i like playing as link the most. he’s my favorite character, & ofc since he’s mandatorily played for most of the story, he’s gonna be the most leveled up character regardless so he’s just the best to play as in general especially for harder missions. it was annoying to be forced to play as other people Solely cause the ai was so useless.
king rhoam’s attempt at a redemption arc. i’m not sorry that i just fucking hate this man. i don’t mind him entirely in botw bc you can see clear, genuine remorse during the cut scene at the end of the great plateau. but the redemption arc he gets in this game? after all the fucking shit he does in this game? especially when after his ~redemption arc~ i had to sit through a cut scene of him being an absolute fucking asshole to baby zelda after her mother just died????? absolutely fuck that shit. i don’t appreciate that crap at fucking all. he’s a verbally abusive piece of shit and i hate his guts.
obviously there was gonna be some retconning of how certain things worked in botw in order to make this kinda game work but the way sheikah technology works in this game is so goddamn confusing i do not get it. the works of botw are never outright said or explained completely, but it’s straightforward enough that it doesn’t really matter. this game does try to explain certain things and it just becomes. really clunky and confusing very quickly.
the story is alright, i guess, but..... really confusing/convoluted as hell at times to a point that it’s. really fucking distracting. especially in comparison to how straightforward botw’s story is. like..... cannot help but be annoyed that such a problem wouldn’t have been a thing if they stuck to botw’s story.
i was sad when the egg thing died but i dont like the egg thing.... it is the MAIN reason shit was retconned so much & i just. dont get its purpose. but i did really like the reveal that zelda made it herself. that was good shit!
also the egg glitched out like. a LOT. idk what the fuck was going on with the poor thing but there was multiple times during a cut scene or when i was just sitting there that it was freaking out in the background and it was rly weird
elemental overworld boss monsters................. obnoxious. especially elemental guardians like goddamn bro what the fuck
i know warriors’ games aren’t about exploring anyway but the limitations for exploring was really sad/frustrating. this is still somewhat the world of hyrule before the calamity, which is something we’ve always wanted to see. not being able to explore even the immediate area at certain points because of shit like timed missions was really upsetting, man. :( i just wanted to see hyrule castle Before the calamity why was did they have to rob us like that.....
creepy corrupted egg’s transformation. why. what was that. what the fuck
even though i did enjoy the boss fights, it did get. incredibly taxing eventually to have to fight the SAME bastards so many times. like yeah botw is also guilty of this with the blights, but goddamn.... at least i have a choice to avoid certain encounters with them? this game has you fighting the same bitches like upwards of 3-4 times. it was. really annoying tbh. like the fights themselves are enjoyable, but damn we added new characters and it still inevitably lacked variety in boss fights.
no playable kass >:( if he’s available later in dlc then fine but i wish he was playable in the original game. so many random choices you’d never expect are. why couldn’t he also be there >:(
overall:
it will forever have that sour taste for the false advertising attached to it unfortunately, but that aside, i overall did enjoy the game! i think it has a lot to love in spite of the issues i encountered. as someone who has this as their first warriors game as well, it did lend itself to letting me see the appeal of them. idk if i’ll get more, but i do get why they’re so beloved/popular now. it was an alright time, with some amazing highlights that i’m gonna think back on very fondly for a very, very long time. if i had to rate it..... 7/10
Miphosa trashcanon ???
merry solstice I’m avoiding my regular fic AND my solstice fic
Anyway Urbosa strives to maintain a professional facade when around Mipha because she’s trying to Be Cool about the whole Being In Love With You thing and also her teenager is on the brink of a mental breakdown so she’s got that to worry about.
So she’s calm, she’s cool, she’s dignified.
And then one evening when she’s visiting the less lethal parts of Death Mountain with her beloved platonic husband Daruk, she samples some Goron homebrew
and she just
“MIPHA IS SO SMALL, DARUK, HOW IS SHE STILL ALIVE???”
“I uh...I think she’s doing okay? How many have you--?Oh yikes that was too many.”
“SHE IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND KIND I MUST PROTECT HER AT ALL COSTS. I LOVE HER SO MUCH.
“I know you do, brother, how about we get you some water--”
“MIPHA LIVES IN WATER OH ANCESTORS THAT MEANS SHE CAN’T LIVE IN THE DESERT WHAT AM I GONNA DO DARUK?????”
“Maybe a little nap, brother? Some food? Yeah, let’s get you something to eat.”
“I DON’T WANT TO EAT, I WANT MIPHA BUT SHE LOVES LINK AND YOU CAN’T EVEN SEE HIS ABS DARUK WHERE ARE THEY.”
i finished botw yesterday!!! and by that i mean i defeated ganon i didnt do all the shrines/side quests or anything lol
anyway the game is rly Good so here’s me spitting out my thoughts on it
the final boss was kind of anticlimactic? it was just.... too easy... it probably didnt take me more than 10 minutes at least thats how it felt like. the final form of ganon was rly cool tho.
also the fact that i hadnt planned on fighting ganon when i went to hyrule castle but then was like “WELP im here so might as well!” probably didnt help make the finale feel any less anticlimactic lol
ppl have said this before that the open world gameplay of botw makes it difficult to have a rly solid narrative which i agree with and i think this is one example of the freedom of the gameplay kind of hindering the pacing of the plot.... i dont think it’s Impossible to balance those things tho and i hope they figure it out for the next zelda game since im sure theyre keeping the open world gameplay. bc it’s Good.
i also did the champions ballad dlc!! which was rly fun! i still wish we got to see more of how theyre relationship w/ link developed tho bc the dlc was kind of just individual looks into their personality which was coool but Please... i want that good found family content im dying
also i didnt occur to me that the photo you get from kass can be displayed in your house so when i got the cutscene with link hanging up the photo and he’s smiles looking up at it iiiim sooooo ;__________;
also in urbosa’s diary when she talks about how zelda, link, revali, and mipha are so young and how theyre hyrule’s future and that she and daruk hope to help them see that future ;_____; IM!!! EMO!!!!
i understand that sometimes characters need to be Dead but also dont do this i’ll be Sad
and aaaaaalso daruk is so cool... and i wish his diary was less joke-y lol... like i feel like they couldve kept the part of his personality that’s simple and straightforward while also shedding light on the other aspects of his personality bc his diary is kind of just... food + also here’s how i met link! it’s basically him relaying stuff he sees happening but not much about himself
the gorons are a community that are very family-oriented! yknow with the whole brotherhood thing! and it’s reflected in daruk by him basically adopting link as an “official brother” and how willingly he is to die not just for his people but for all of hyrule... yes he’s a warrior but above all he’s a Protector and iDK I JUST THINK THAT’S SO COOL AND I WISH THEY DID MORE WITH THAT BUT WHATEVER!!!
same with mipha... i think she wouldve been a rly interesting foil to zelda... theyre both princesses w/ magic powers but while mipha is so beloved, zelda is kind of the opposite and thats rly interesting but she kind of just serves to be the tragic love interest.... i rly loved in her memory when she tells link “i will always protect you” like the wording of it is Active rather than Passive? her telling the Legendary Hero Who Seals The Darkness that she will protect him is rly cool...
but then yknow... when you free vah ruta and she talks about how she’s happy to play the role of support and im just... guuuuhhh... thats very typical for characters like her idk. im just tired of characters like her who are relegated to supporting roles and dont have much more to their character other than being timid damsels in love w/ the hero
especially bc i see hints of her being so much More than that especially in her champion’s ballad memory but it’s not enough bc a lot of her character hinges on the fact that she’s in love with link and how sad it is that she died without expressing her love which is rly awkward bc we dont even know how link feels about her at all overall the character writing for the champions couldve been better.... but zelda’s characterization is Really Good. A+. and usually i care more about story than gameplay when it comes to video games but i think botw was the most fun ive ever had playing a video game so theres that one last complaint tho... why didnt link and zelda hug at the end..... please.... theyre Friends....
OH WAIT. at the end when zelda says she thinks the 100 years she spent fighting off ganon probably made her powers fade away.... and how, now, she can accept that and she smiles AND ;____; MY DAUGHTER!!! SHE’S FINALY HAPPY!! IT’S WHAT SHE DESERVES!!
