One Piece D&D Marines by Rustage PCs First Impressions

Halfway into the first episode, please don't spoil anything past that point.

Very glad that the same players are returning.

I'm glad we're getting to see Tekking as a "good guy" again. I loved William but preferred Old Tony by quite a bit and Kai seems to be a way to have William's impulsiveness but with clearer morals. It also sounds like he has a bad history with Devil Fruits which'll be a fun contrast to Tekking having ALL OF THEM last campaign. Also, there has to be more to Belle the crab. I reckon he'll probably pick Beast Master as the subclass but they seem to be using an improved Ranger so he won't be terrible.

Briggs tried both ends of the intellectual spectrum and found the one he likes and I respect that. Very cool to see a fishman PC and I love how he's a stingray. He's also a Rogue but massive at the same time (at least in the art) which could be interesting. I can imagine a scene of him soiling a Stealth check and having an NPC be like "we can obviously see the six foot fish person." I'm also pretty sure Bradley mentioned his sister which is likely his main motivation. What is it with Briggs and saving family members? I genuinely have no clue what subclass he'd pick, and I get the feeling he'll multiclass into Fighter decently early on.

2Spooky's playing another mysterious character. Yokan's probably the one I have the least to say about now but I know Spooky liked to play the long game with Verona so I can see him doing it again. She'll probably have a huge, important backstory but it would also be funny if she was just a regular person who joined the marines for fun. As someone DMing for a Monk currently, and having seen how Rustage plays Chip, I know how broken Yokan will quickly become. I reckon Way of the Open Hand for the subclass.

Again, I'm only halfway into the first episode (which isn't even out on YouTube yet) and Damian's already my favourite. I love how he just looks like Larry from Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, I love his voice, I love how he seems to be powered by sugar, I love how everyone's already figured out that he's a robot and he pretends to not know what that means, I love how he's socially awkward but not in a cute way, I love how he's an Artificer which is the best class and you can fight me on that. Duros was my favourite last time and I can see Noble winning the title of favourite PC yet again. My prediction for the subclass is Armourer.

Of all of them, Yokan seems the most likely to get a Devil Fruit and if she does it's only a matter of time before one of Rustage's bosses gets shredded by Devil Fruit and Ki-powered strikes. I'd love to see Noble finally get a Fruit but since he's already a magic class and a robot (I don't think robots can eat Devil Fruits. Correct me if I'm wrong), I doubt it. Kai seems like he'll avoid them like the plague which actually makes me want to see him get a Devil Fruit by accident and not realise it. Like, maybe someone tricks him into eating one and he only realises once he's in water or something like that and he has to come to terms with it. I could also see Bradley getting a Devil Fruit too. I want at least one of them to just get a *bad* fruit. Bear, Roulette, and Animation were too powerful, I want to see someone get a Snail Zoan.

Ok so i like things and i like making headcannons because they're fun. So why not post headcannons I've decided.

What series? One Piece DnD by Rustage. At least until ive covered every prominent character. I'll probably do this in order of thumbnail art so we start with William Emanon D Chapston, the dumbass captain, incompetent rouge and adoptive father of significantly better rouge

Spoilers below for One Piece DnD and One Piece(the series)

• William is kept awake at night by his decision when he got to choose any power and could've saved everyone and instead just summoned people

• Following on from that, Atom, Helios and Louis all somewhat haunt his dreams, as well as the moments they died

• After seeing what happened to Blake he began to repeatedly say things about saying no to drugs to Doxie, which is always met with a lot of "i already know that"

• Doxie came up to him one day after the crew disbanded and showed him the news about Ragnar which caused him a lot of distress over doing nothing about his addiction

• William tried to make a plan to cure Ragnar but ultimately realised that it'd never work

• He gambled a lot after learning about Ragnars spiral and almost lost everything. He cheated last second and barely won and then stopped gambling to cope after being persuaded by Doxie and Boss

• He (alongside Doxie and Boss) meets up with Verona, Lyssa, Pearl, Cyril, Gravy and Jimmy from time to time. Usually most of the meet ups are seperate but they all get together for special occasions like birthdays

• They also all meet up once a year on Louis' birthday and mourn him.

• They all met up after they learned about Ragnar and discussed the news. Ultimately they decided it was best for him and them to just stay far away

• William, Doxie and Boss all do revolutionary army work in the Grand Line.

• He helped Belo Betty with her power by using his inspiring leader speeches as a basis

• He wasn't liked much by Kuma at first but eventually they became friends and William began to get better as a result

• He no longer furiously kills old people

• He is held in high regard in the revolutionary army for killing a celestial dragon, even by people like Dragon although he doesnt admit it

• He's not great at showing it but he's very proud of Doxie

• He has cried on more than one Father's Day over stuff Doxie has done for him

• He has escaped from 4 marine prison ships. Him and Doxie have a competition over this and he is losing

Percy, Aki and Vi meet Verona (One Piece Rustage D&D)

Percy, Aki, and Vi navigated the unfamiliar streets, searching for a way to contain Jinx's powers and restore her sanity. Their quest led them through a shimmering portal, and they found themselves in a realm unlike any they had known. The skies were a deep crimson, and the air was thick with an otherworldly energy.

As they marveled at the strange landscape, a figure emerged from the shadows. Verona, the enigmatic Navigator of the Devil's Luck Pirates, gazed at them with an unreadable expression.

Vi stepped forward, determination etched on her face. "We accept your challenge. But be warned, we won't back down."

Verona chuckled, the sound sending shivers down their spines. "Oh, I'm counting on it. Let's begin. The Devil's Luck Pirates will be your judges, and the realm itself will be your arena."

As Verona vanished, the landscape shifted, and the trio found themselves facing a series of trials. Treacherous terrain, fearsome creatures, and puzzles designed to test their wits awaited them. The stakes were high, and the consequences of failure unknown.

Percy, Aki, and Vi exchanged a resolute glance. United in their quest, they charged forward, ready to face the challenges of this unforgiving realm and uncover the secrets that lay within. These characters have official art now

I'm looking through the cards for Devil's Luck (which I will buy at some point when it becomes available again) and I'm very happy at how a few characters who never got thumbnail art finally have official art, and I especially love how all of their art is drawn by Kaerru.

#1: Malaise

I always thought Malaise was the coolest Trojan Pirate, and her art looks really cool.

#2: Big Top

I'm pretty sure it was between him and Jimmy to be on the thumbnail, and Jimmy was obviously more popular. Still, I'm glad we can see what Big Top looks like now since he was such an important character. I always imagined his suit as black but I prefer the green.

#3: Lieutenant Hubris

One of the first secondary villains and probably the first character I felt zero remorse for when he died. Big fan of the ginger Naruto vibes and how unhinged he looks.

#4: Captain Verona

She looks way cooler than I imagined her, I really wish we got to see her in a thumbnail with how amazing this design is. I wonder how Verona feels knowing that his entire family has peak character design.

#5: Captain Hastings

Yes! Yes! Finally! I know we got art of The Construct which had his face but we finally get to see what this man actually looked like when he was alive.

#6: Jasper

The king himself! I know that each player character needs a thumbnail at one point (and I'm not suggesting that they stop doing that) but part of me wish it was just NPCs because then we absolutely would've gotten Jasper art a lot sooner. I really like his design and his character overall, I wish we got to see more of him.

(yes I know that Tako and Little Timmy never got thumbnail art but they got official art in the poster which counts imo)

I really love these designs, they show off how skilled Kaerru is for drawing all of these. My favourite is probably Captain Verona, but I like all of them.

Rustage's starting guide NPC in One Piece D&D was the mostly-kind Pearl who had a sad backstory. In Marines there's Tiger who's just a little shit and only kinda cared about his brother dying. Tiger, I love you please die a really underwhelming death in episode 4.

I'm reading some pages on the wiki and apparently Bailey is Paige's daughter? I don't remember that being mentioned at all. Mental. I wonder if that makes her also Blue Blood's daughter (since we don't know who her father is and Blue Blood is the most likely option). Imagine the absolute terror on the players' faces when Bailey bleeds and it's blue.
