Honestly I'm not a Graves fan, but he fucking would be a bull rider. The masculinity of it, the show-off-ness, the performance of the whole thing. Just made for a man that strikes me as wanting what comes so naturally to the men of the 141.

That's better than tobacco you suppose, and there is something distinctly masculine about the motion. He's good looking and it seems like he knows that. That just makes the fluid motion feel more... practiced. A pin point of potential disgust, meant to throw you off from anything else that might pop up early on.

You hum, nod your head, and let your eyes drag over him. He preens under the attention, you half expect him to puff up his chest. Instead he smiles a little wider, showing off neat white teeth.

"Wha'd'ya think sweetheart, I got a buckle with your name on it." He winks at you when you meet his eye again. You lean against the gate with a smile, let him sneak a peak down your shirt, and wonder of they make britches big enough for guys like this.

"I already got three of those," you tell him.

"Three- what?" He asks, frowning.

"Buckles with my name on 'em," you reach through the gate to hook one of your fingers in his belt loops. You give and nice firm tug and enjoy the little huff of breath he lets out. "But if you win one, I might be tempted to show 'em to ya."

Graves' smile could outshine the sun. You don't think you've ever had a man smile at you like that, like he could eat you alive. There's something flinty in his eyes that almost scares you. It's enough to make you rethink your own flirting. You don't think a man like this is the sort to take your challenge lightly, or leave you alone once you've challenged him.

No, not him. Not with the way he tilts his head, patronizing as he looks down at you. He reaches up to snap his fingers against the brim of his hat.

"Wouldn't that be somethin' ta see," he hums.

"Just don't lose your hat to anyone else," you push off the gate to go find your friend. The cheer of the crowd tells you their ride is probably over.

"I'm gonna make you mine," Graves yells after you, you raise a hand to wave him off, "The next time you walk away from me it'll be down the aisle."

Would kill to read animal POV fiction that has the animal POV’s interaction with humans be like, semi realistic to the level of caution most predators take with large prey and/or competitors (including humans).

Like instead of the usual - “the human is such a weak, pathetic creature... so slow, no claws, blunt teeth… completely helpless without its 'Fire Sticks'. how is it the master of the earth?” type crap it’s like, the bear protagonist or whatever approaches some dude who spreads their arms and yells and the bear is like “FUUUUUUUUCK THAT THING JUST GOT HUGE. IT'S LARGE AND MAKING NOISES. HOLY FUCK.”

#A lot of this realm of fiction tends to severely overestimate how physically weak humans are in the grand scheme of things.. #A human body ft. no tools has a pretty average level competency at escaping predation. WITH tools it's significantly above average. #Like a lot of human physiology IS the way it is because of reliance on tool/fire use but interspecies competition/predation is really not #a literal battle won by physical strength + teeth + claws (at least until the actual process of killing) #Intimidation and shows of strength/threatening behavior can go a long way. Healthy predators (who aren't unnaturally #accommodated to humans) are generally going to be cautious and may avoid confrontations they absolutely COULD win because #the risk of injury is judged as too high #And most animals can't weigh risks in the most objective manner and won't understand that you aren't any 'bigger' just because you #wave your arms and yell. That is why puffing up/spreading out as a threat display is so ubiquitous in nature. #Massive tangent but this is why I fucking loved Prehistoric Planet so much like the commitment to having its dinosaurs behave like #actual animals is fantastic and tragically rare #Like having a scene where a T Rex gets bullied away from a carcass by two much smaller azhdarchids.. A thick steak cut round to kind of mimi #c the round tenderloin or whatever it is in a wellington. instead of the puff pastry being wrapped around - I just did star shaped cut outs #of pastry and baked them and put them on top (to go with the star theme). instead of mushroom duxelles being wrapped around in pastry #its in a little circle under the steak. and instead of mustard being brushed onto the meat I made a mustard gravy sauce type of thing #Then of course asparagus on the side.. my favorite... Though I know some wellington #also has a layer of prosciutto I think. or I saw one person use crepes. I didn't feel it was necessary to incorporate that too lol #8. bapy son helping me do a giant puzzle that took me hours and I had no idea it was actually that large of a puzzle #until I started putting it together and for some reason it made me stressed by the end instead of relaxed lol.. puzzle fatigue #photo diary

I AGREE its so crazy how zap gags weren't a thing.... like TTCC really popped off with that one! i understand TTR is moreso sticking closer to the way TTO was but WOW zap just feels so natural with a REALLY good mechanic that uses strategy in using squirt and its just so good.... also my favorite track

YEEEPP!! That's how I feel about it. Squirt and zap just mix well together. I also think the addition of an 8th gag track was also a good move, allowing for a nice rotation of combinations (like how lure-trap and throw-drop are together as a combo). And also its a nice even number. I also think it helps utilize squirt, idk just feels good to do in general. Of course, I don't really have anything to compare this to and it's just me speaking as a player of (currently) one server, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

my reading of lifesteal season 4 is so personal and involved at this point that even if i was going to post more character analysis i would not know where to start. it would require footnotes to documents that don't exist. listen to luddites and lambs by everything everything and you'll get half of it though

#m #lifesteal #there is just such a compelling and clear thematic line between like. okay #first you need to just accept for me the idea that zam as a character is defined by being trapped running both towards and away from #the same object (mapicc) #and then you have to take mapicc as interchangeable with pain in general but specifically an inescapable normalcy of pain #which is caught up in something zam wants and knows he wants which is the “pure/natural” idyllic version of lifesteal #where every fight is fair competition #and what mapicc has done to hurt him more than the actual stalking and murder and all of that is that mapicc refused to fight him on even #ground (by literally invading and destroying his home so that everything becomes battlefield) in a way that offends his most deeply #held values. AND THEN he reads vitalasy's use of the exploits as trying to take that same thing he fundamentally values about lifesteal #away and he gets incredibly angry with vitalasy for hurting the server itself (pvp becomes functionally obsolete for a while there) #so he plays out the eclipse betrayal framing it in his own mind as another situation where he is the victim and vitalasy is the #manipulator/aggressor and falls back into the kind of jumpy paranoid behavior we as the viewer haven't actually seen from him in a very #long time now (late into eclipse when mapicc isn't an active threat anymore he really does stop jumping at shadows the way he used to) #and seems comforted by the familiarity of it if anything. because what vitalasy was asking of him that made him panic and reject it so #badly was to create a new pattern and step out onto unknown ground but he can't do it #and he retreats back to what he knows. so vitalasy isn't WRONG to read what zam does as victimizing himself #and forcing vitalasy into a villain role that is literally what he is doing #but vitalasy on the other end still has his own entire set of things he is not dealing with #and so the relationship created by these two people is doomed by their inability to look themselves in the eye more than any of the actual #facts of the relationship itself #and the thing zam wants lifesteal to be is not and has never been real. the thing vitalasy wants lifesteal to be is also antithetical to #its nature they are both wrong #but zam is wrong in that he wants to return to an idealized imagined past that does not actually exist #(see also vague historical allusions in his castle and his name and him trying after vi's death to cast off violence completely and return #to the land somehow. and the association created incidentally between stone tools and rudimentary technology) #and vitalasy is wrong in that he's trying to create something entirely new that nobody but him actually wants via the exploit #(see the way that once the exploit is 'out of the box' it can't be put back in and the course of the season is set in motion and any attemp #s to fight it and change that course are futile as allegorical to sudden technological advancement being met with violent opposition)

ok so here's a bloodborne post. every dream or nightmare in bloodborne needs two things:

1. a host/dreamer

2. a being to create the dream

in the nightmare frontier/nightmare of mensis the dreamer is micolash and the creator is mergo.

we know for sure the nameless moon presence made the hunter's dream, and the obvious conclusion is gehrman is the dreamer. my personal pet theory is the doll is a second dreamer, the real host of the dream, because you find her sleeping in the old abandoned workshop

when you end a dream you have to kill both the host of the dream and the creator, ex, killing micolash then mergo, killing (freeing) gehrman and then the moon presence

so here where i get a little confusing okkkkk. the doll is the reason the game loops. the purpose of the hunter's dream is to keep hunters alive, at least when they start out hunting. hunters can leave the dream, like eileen and djura, but can they really? they reset when you start new game plus. everything resets. you are able to end the nightmare of beasts by ending the mensis ritual, but micolash was already long dead and a skeleton when he 'woke up', meaning gehrman would be as well. the doll, however, would just go back to sleep. she has an immortal doll body, if she wakes up there is no actual consequence. in the childhoods beginning ending you become the new creator of the dream, and the doll is the host, so gehrman is unnecessary. in the ending where you replace gehrman you are replacing his role as the surrogate child of the moon presence/collateral, and the doll is the host. in yharnam sunrise you 'leave' the dream, but you can't actually leave. the only thing left is new game plus. there is no way to permanently kill the doll in the game, and you need to kill both the dreamer and the maker of the dream to end it

i believe the moon presence created something unintendedly bigger than herself with the dream, it's become an endless self powering cycle that resets the entire world instead of just keeping a few hunters alive. the great ones are sympathetic in spirit, but she didn't really understand what laurence (and associates) was asking for because she can never actually die. so now no one can ever die! N that's my post

i've been quiet here to avoid major spoilers (posting them OR seeing them), but i started act 2 last night and holy shit, oh my god, this game is so good. it feels like a cross between playing dnd with the world's most competent DM and reading a really good fantasy novel.

i fucking LOVE destroying people in games with fragile egos. i rarely ever get the chance to nor do i really partake in shit-talking, but man is it refreshing to get somebody MAD and you DESTROY THEIR EGO for it.

i just got out of one of my favorite TF2 servers with a friend and we took on a toxic 4-stack of players. fight in total barely lasted 10 minutes and they all left after we went 20 - 0 (for a K/D ratio, thats REALLY fucking good). three of them kept trashing me w/ the n-word and honestly? felt real good. i got a guy to scream at me on mic and it was the biggest dopamine rush i ever felt.
