How to measure blood pressure correctly
Many factors can affect your blood pressure reading. According to the American Heart Association, you should not smoke, drink caffeinated beverages or exercise for 30 minutes before taking blood pressure readings. It is recommended to rest for five minutes and empty the bladder before starting the blood pressure test. You should sit on a supporting chair with your feet flat on the floor, and your arms should be supported on the level surface of the heart. Blood pressure should usually be measured at the same time each day, and you should take two to three readings at a time, with an interval of one minute.

Laposky’s “Oscillons” were created by photographing the output of an oscilloscope over time, where the oscilloscope’s input and function, and certain variables of the photographic process, were carefully controlled and explored by the artist. The resultant images are anything but arbitrary: they are the necessary product of their antecedents (but then, aren’t all artworks?).
Mathematics is implicit here. Lapoksy himself had been involved heavily with both mathematics and physics in the years preceding his turn to these “electronic abstractions” (as he liked to call them). The oscilloscope’s input was often the most basic of waveforms: the sine wave, fundamental to mathematics, physics, and music.
