Dunno if you will write this but I really wanna see a fanfic with group of people in ministry are saying horrible mean things about Hermione and how she doesn’t deserve to be friends with The boy who lived and the great Ron Weasley and both Harry and Ron overhear it and put those jerks in their place.
Hi anon! Thanks for the ask! I was an interesting topic. Hope you enjoy!
*************************
Watch What You Say
Harry and Ron had gone down to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement to drop off paperwork from recently completed missions. Ordinarily, Ron would jump at the chance to take the walk so he could pop in and say hi to Hermione, who had just been promoted again (for the third time), after only working there for two years. Today, however, he was just stretching his legs and using an excuse to get out of the office because Hermione was in hearings all day.
The secretary was busy on a floo call, and waved for them to drop the files on the desk. They were about to turn around to leave when a conversation caught their attention.
“...Promoted again? Are they blind to the rest of us?”
“Yeah, what’s she got that we don’t have.”
There was a snigger. “Are you really asking that question? She’s got the famous Harry Potter and Ron Weasley on her side. She’s clearly only sleeping with Weasley to get ahead. Isn’t that what all Muggleborns do?”
“Hah! They probably take turns with her, too.”
Ron’s face turned crimson and he was about to go break up the bashing session when Harry put his hand on Ron’s shoulder. “Not yet,” he whispered. They moved to the side a bit so the secretary wouldn’t notice them hovering.
“She probably bought her friendship with them, too. No one that homely could ever get on with people like them.”
“Seriously, of all the girls in Hogwarts...something has to be up with that.”
“Well, I heard she was only on the run with them because they needed her advanced spellwork to get by, but other than that, she didn’t do much but nag them while they were busy defeating You-Know-Who.”
Their voices sounded young, and based on office placement in the ministry, Harry guessed they were interns who were fresh out of Hogwarts. That would have put them in second or third year when they would have been in sixth year and on the run. No doubt they were not in Gryffindor, either.
He turned to Ron and they shared a look, reading the others thoughts. They made their way around the secretary’s desk and behind the wall that separated the entrance area from the rest of the cubicles that were reserved for low level employees.
As they came into view, Harry spoke first. “You know, Ron it’s funny to hear this lot talking.” He stared at every single one of their faces. “I don’t recall seeing any of them attempt to stay behind and fight at the Battle of Hogwarts with us.”
“You’re right, Harry. ‘Course, if they had, they wouldn’t be sitting here right now, I’m sure.” Ron added.
There was an assortment of stutters among the group consisting of ‘oh my gods’ and ‘H-H-Harry Potter’ or ‘it’s Ron Weasley in the flesh.’
One of the interns was bold enough to challenge them. “We couldn’t have stayed even if we wanted to, we were only in third year!”
“That didn’t stop Dennis Creevey from staying behind, and he was a fourth year!” Harry snapped back. “And I’m pretty sure your superiors would be quite interested to find out all the foul things you’re saying, too. Considering one of them is technically your boss.”
They all gaped like fish, and the gutsy one said, “Why does she deserve our respect anyways? She’s only a few years ahead of us.”
“Doesn’t matter. She’s ten times the witch you’ll ever be. And she owes it all to her own hard work and success.” Ron shut her down.
“I think we should have a word with the head of the DMLE, don’t you think, Ron? He might be interested to know what his newest interns have to say.”
There was a chorus of ‘no’s’ and ‘please’ around the group.
Just then, Hermione appeared around the corner. “Ron! Harry! What are you doing here?” They both turned and Ron moved toward her, enveloping Hermione in a soul crushing kiss.
“Just dropping off some paperwork, love. We overheard the new interns talking, and thought we’d help them out with their ideas. Set the record straight,” Ron explained.
“Oh, well that’s nice of you..” Hermione said, looking awkwardly between the two groups.
“It’s no problem. They know how important friendship is now, and how real friends will always stand by each other.” Harry said, eyeing them.
“And if anyone dares to say something against them, they always come to their defense,” Ron said pointedly.
“Er, right,” Hermione looked at them oddly. “Well, anyways I have a break for lunch. Do you want to join?”
That sounds great, actually,” Harry said as Ron nodded.
“Okay, just let me put my things away.” Hermione bustled off to her office.
“If we ever hear anything negative come out of any of your mouths again, you’ll all be fired.” The perks of being a war hero, Ron thought.
“Got it?” Harry said, as they all nodded feebly.
Hermione came back and the trio took off out the door. Ron made a mental note to visit George and install some of his newest listening devices in the office. It wouldn’t hurt to keep tabs on them, would it?

CHARACTER BACKGROUND
POSTBELLUM
The knowledge she died and left her brother and niece alone in the world weighed heavy on her shoulders.  It’s something she  isn’t coping with well. The knowledge that her death was the final stand the Ministry had, that it was taken over by Voldemort because she couldn’t beat him, was a tough pill to swallow for her. She knew he had his faith around and in the shadows waiting, she could count the amount of people she completely trusted in the Ministry on one hand but she thought that there would have been more of a stand. The knowledge that her failure was the reason the people she served suffered another war  sits heavy on her shoulders.  If she could do it again she would be more prepared, have an escape plan rather than just hold her ground against him. She wouldn’t have the same faith that the Ministry would hold their own against him without her, she should have known better. The only thing sitting on her shoulders heavier than that is the knowledge that her niece had suffered, that she wasn’t there to stop that and holds herself completely responsible for it.
PERSONALITY
Tough, fair, kind, compassionate. This is how Amelia would describe herself if asked. She is far more gentle on the inside than most people who work around her would think. Stick her in a room with her niece for just a moment and you’ll see the stern blue eyes soften immediately.  Amelia is a skilled negotiator and investigator. She has a way with words and a great deal of understanding in how to use them. However, she isn’t very good at using them to describe how she feels. She is compassionate, and hardworking, she much prefers to listen to how others are feeling than share her own feelings. Everyone else comes first in her mind. Will always put the needs of others in front of her own.
BRIEF OVERVIEW OF FAMILY
The oldest of the Bones three siblings Amelia always felt somewhat responsible for them. Constantly looking out for them and keeping their health and wellbeing in mind. Being an Aunt has always been considered her greatest achievement. Holding Edgar’s first child was a life changing experience and laying them to rest with their parents was life shattering.
Her brother and niece were all the family she had left and she cherished them. With the death of her sister in law, Susan’s mother, Amelia truly stepped up to the plate. She never tried or wanted to replace her mother but knew despite her brother’s best intentions, Susan needed someone else to be around. Amelia doesn’t have any children and has never seen the need to have any, when asked if she was planning on having any she’d simply smile and reply “I have Susan. I don’t need anymore children in my life”
HISTORY What was their life before the end of the war in ‘98 or before their death? What was important and formative for them?
Born a few months after the end of world war two and the capture of Gellert Grindlewald meant Amelia grew up in both the bliss of peace and the pain of rebuilding. She’d listen to stories of war from the other children and overheard her mother and father discussing it sometimes. She remembered the celebrations from the 10th anniversary of war’s end and attended many memorials of those who had fallen, both muggle and magical alongside her family.
When war came to the Wixen World once more it was much less kind to the Bones. Her parents were cut down in their family home by Voldemort himself, her brother, his wife and his children slaughtered in their home. She constantly thought back to nights her father would tell her she’d never have to suffer at the hands of another war and swore she’d do whatever was necessary that the last living grandchild of his got to live that promise.
Amelia lived alone in a small home just outside of London. She’d brought it just after the first war as she climbed the ministry ranks. It made the commute to and from work much faster and proved a safe, new home with no memories attached to it.
Most of Amelia’s time was filled with work and family. She had the odd girlfriend here and there but no relationship ever lasted more than a year. She was far too dedicated to her job or her family.
Amelia’s job was incredibly important. She held the line against Fudges conspiracy theory lies. Called him out behind closed doors at every opportunity. Made her dislike and disapproval known. She was a Bones after it, it meant something in the Ministry. There were rumours that if Albus Dumbledore wasn’t going to take the position of Minister, she would. And she might have, had she lived long enough. She was preparing for it, to challenge him, and all other comers. After it was proven that Voldemort was well and truly alive and Cornelius Fudge had wasted precious time denying it out of fear , she had planned to oust him if he wouldn’t resign. Take a vote to the Wizenagemont, remove him due to his incompetence. She was killed the evening before her vote was due to hit the floor.
OOC EXPLORATION
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO?
The after hogwarts golden trio aspect drew me in first. Then when I read the plot more and more the idea of “returned” got me more and more interested. My favourite AU plots in group rps have always been the “What if a character who has died returned?? What happens to your character?” I adore exploring that whole new side of them.  It opens up things, plots, ideas, developments, that a traditional style of RP wouldn’t
EXTRA FOR NON-BIO CHARACTERS
CHARACTER CONTRIBUTION
How do you see this character adding to the community and the plot?
Bringing in Amelia is similar to bringing in Edgar. It brings a Bones from that era to the story and offers connections for Susan and characters in the Marauders Era. Bringing her would also add a character who is incredibly familiar with the structure of the Ministry and a depth of knowledge in her field.
PRESENT One paragraph about your character’s life right now and how they are handling the current events of the game.
“You died, Ma’am”
The words were on constant repeat in her mind. What did they mean she died? She was alive right now, she was breathing, her heart beating. She was here. Except she last remembered it being 1996. They tell her it’s 2002. She died six years ago. Her last memory was fighting Voldemort, a loud bang, stumbling to the floor and then she woke up in the Death Chamber. A room she had both the privilege and horror of recognising. It made sense in a way. The last thing she remembered was being in her home but awoke in the Ministry but it was so hard to understand. How? Why? Everyday was a repeat of the same questions in her mind. She does her best not to dwell on it, knowing that now isn’t the time nor place to do so. Getting herself grounded, back into the world that she had no idea she left. Returning to her family. That was her first goal. Working everything else out will come later.

Where: DMLE Who: Emmeline && @mccdyalstr
Tumblr media
Meeting up in the Ministry was a risk, a much higher one than Emmeline would generally be prepared to take and that was with her being a risk-taker. To be seen together outside would be more suspicious, however, the age gap between them and the lack of reason for a friendship to have formed between them too great. So, when her work handed her an excuse to go to the Auror’s office, Emmeline practically jumped on it.
An assistant tried their best to stop Emmeline going in, trying to direct her away from Moody’s office, citing his heavy workload but Emmeline hit back with the department she was from. “The only person my boss has given me clearance to pass this information onto is the Head of the Auror office, so let me past and make sure we aren’t disturbed.” With that, she knocked on Moody’s door and let herself in before somebody else could try to intervene. She closed the door behind her and cast a couple of privacy wards so they would not be overheard. The file, emblazoned with the words Department of Mysteries - Highly Confidential went onto his desk, but only as somewhere for her to put it. “I’m worried,” she started, not referencing the work that had supposedly brought her there. “Is there any news on Dedalus?”

Two hours into the game -- the crowds roaring, the score count ticking up, the golden snitch nowhere in sight -- Brenton Avery slips away from his companions. He claims to be getting drinks; they have no reason not to believe him. And he does drink something, though event the oldest, foulest beer would be preferable to the polyjuice potion. He swallows the vile potion with a shudder. Seconds later, his skin stretches, features twist, and body morphs as Brenton’s face transforms into Dedalus Diggle.
Dedalus, cheering himself hoarse in the stands, has no idea what’s about to be done with his face.
Brenton makes his way back into the stadium, slipping through the crowds. For a man on a mission, he moves with fluidity. He doesn’t even bat an eye when Alice Longbottom stops her fellow Order member with a fond smile. She ribs him about how engaged in the game he’s been then asks if he’s seen anything. Brenton doesn’t skip a beat when he says he’s seen nothing. With that, the only impediment between him and the unoccupied private box is passed.
With a charm he’s practiced since this plan fell into place, Brenton magics away the glass barrier. He casts another charm -- this one stings his eyes but gives him sharp, hawk-like vision that lets him track the players as if they’re flying through molasses. He lifts his wand, pointing at his target. “Avada Kedavra,” leaves his lips in a whisper but holds all the power of a shout. The crowd watches with dawning horror as green light shoots across the pitch and hits Sebastian Wilkes right in the chest.
Everything stops as Sebastian falls.
Later, when the Aurors break the news to his family, they will say, “At least he was dead before he hit the ground.” It will be meant as a comfort. But nothing about this act is comforting -- this is an attack, the murder of a player in one of the biggest matches of the year.
The crowd starts to shout and scream but this time in terror. People jump from their seats, reaching for their friends, family, and loved ones. A ministry official tries to speak over the ruckus but even Sonorous is too quiet. Aurors commandeer spare brooms. Daniel Ramirez-Fawley and Frank Longbottom spot the perpetrator in the box; Frank’s heart sinks with confusion and dismay when he recognizes Dedalus’ face. He’s a second behind Daniel in reaching the box. They’re both too late; Brenton has gotten away. “Did you know him?” Daniel asks and Frank nods, sharing his name. Due to the anti-apparition wards around the match, they know he can’t have gotten far so Frank runs after him and Daniel heads to the edge of the box to announce the name of who they’re looking for.
Brenton ducks into the Lestrange box just as the polyjuice potion is beginning to wear off. Frank, a little too far behind, rounds the corner and keeps running. Rodolphus Lestrange casts charms to obscure the window and Bellatrix Lestrange tosses him a set of robes that he uses to cover his face while it shifts back; he changes into them and uses a smokeless fire charm to burn the old ones once he looks like himself. The three of them remain there until an Auror gives them the okay to leave.
Down on the field, hit wix try to control the crowd rushing for the exits. It’s a losing battle. People begin to pile against each other. When one man steps on the hand of another’s daughter, curses start to fly. Rabastan Lestrange is hit with a jinx that sends him flying into the stands. He rolls to the side before debris can hit him, the world spinning before his eyes. Melaina Nott sees this and drags him out before the entire stand collapses on top of him. Isaac Buchanan helps her pull him towards the field. They set him down next to Alecto Carrow who’s bleeding through a cloth she has held to her head.
Amos Diggory loses grip of his son’s hand as people push and shove. Shouting at the top of his lungs, he manages to get Gideon Prewett’s attention. The two search for Cedric but are unable to find him. Outside the stadium, Molly Weasley spots a familiar boy with tears in his eyes stumbling out of the crowd. Leaving her children with Andromeda Tonks, Ted Tonks, and Arabella Figg, she rushes to his side, wrapping her arms around him and bringing him to the safety of her tent. Ted, already tasked with keeping them up to date with the DMLE’s orders, keeps an eye out for Amos.
Dedalus Diggle bowls over Athena Wood as he tries to make for the exit; the commotion draws the attention of Isaac Buchanan who has overheard Daniel’s announcement. He hits Dedalus was Petrificus Totalus and apprehends the suspect. He tells Athena that it’s safer on the pitch.
...
Much later, when the stadium has finally been cleared and medics from St. Mungo’s have arrived to treat the injured, Minister Millicent Bagnold emerges from the stadium. The anti-apparition wards are still in place but Ministry employees are hard at work on producing the necessary portkeys. Journalists and photographers rush the Minister, cameras flashing and shouting questions. Her personal security pushes them back and, when they refuse to quiet at her request, she casts a silencing charm on them. Then, with a Sonorous charm, she makes an announcement.
“Despite all our hopes and all attempts to thwart the worst, we find ourselves in the aftermath of tragedy once more. Yet, as you see, there is no mark above our heads.” She gestures to the sky, clear and blue. “Because this was not the act of a Death Eater. This was the act of a vigilante. There is no place for vigilantes in this war. There is no place for the Order of the Phoenix, of whom this murderer acted in the name of. Chaos breeds chaos whether you are with us or not. If there is anything to be learned from today, I hope it is that.”
INJURIES & DEATHS:
Rabastan Lestrange was hit with a strong knock-back jinx. Healers are treating him for a broken rib.
Alecto Carrow was hit in the head. Healers treated her for a minor concussion.
If your character was inside the stadium, they likely received minor injuries in the stampede. You are welcome to headcanon what they were.
Sebastian Wilkes was the only fatality.
OUT OF CHARACTER:
While Dedalus Diggle was not the actual perpetrator, that is known to very few. High-ranking members of the Death Eaters were informed of the decision to kill Sebastian and pin the blame on the Order. Members of the Order may suspect something of the sort due to their familiarity with Dedalus and due to Albus’ denials of guilt.
Alliance with the Order was a fire-able offence at the Ministry before this but Bagnold will be pushing for more enforcement of this. The public will also be feeling unfavorable towards the Order. Secrecy is of the utmost importance for Order members at this time.
If you’re character was not mentioned above, feel free to headcanon where they were and what happened to them.
You are more than welcome to continue event threads at this time but please refrain from starting new threads set before or during the game. You are also welcome to continue pre-event threads.
Please pay your respects to the Wilkes.

                          TWO NEW SUSPECTS QUESTIONED
May 9, 1980 12:08am
In a shocking turn of events, a source in the DMLE has reported that Malcolm Greengrass and Blair Wood have been brought in for questioning, although it’s unclear at this point which murder they’re being questioned in relation to. Reportedly the pair were brought to the attention of aurors when someone overheard yelling, the duo involved in a fight of unknown subject matter.
Greengrass, as some readers may recall, was questioned in relation to a murder some weeks ago, but wasn’t held on any charges and was reported to be an agreeable subject, something that can’t be said for Wood. Following their detainment, it’s said Wood attempted to resist and has demanded a lawyer before talking.

Chapter 34 - “Absolved and Disillusioned” [Ao3] - [FFN] - [Wattpad]
When Pansy awoke, she was startled to realize that she’d been given the very same room that she and Ron had occupied when they’d first been together only a week ago. Utterly disgusted with herself, she’d quickly left in search of hangover potions in Knockturn. They’d done the trick immediately, and as soon as she was feeling better, she figured she might as well get sloshed again. This time she chose a pub in Knockturn where she bought a few rounds of drinks for just her, and then disillusioned herself so as not to be bothered while brooding in the back of the pub. Eventually, she had fallen asleep at the table and gone wholly unnoticed for a number of hours.
She’d awoken when she heard familiar voices nearby, which turned out to be those of Tracey Davis and Millicent Bulstrode. Unwilling to reveal herself in her current state, she’d stayed disillusioned, but easily overheard their conversation.
It turned out that Draco and Astoria were having an engagement party that evening at Malfoy Manor, and only friends were invited.
Astoria. That was who she needed to make amends to. If the DMLE were going to stick their heads up their arses, Astoria Greengrass surely would not. She’d hated Pansy with a graceful vengeance and surely would use this opportunity to see her burn.
