If you think about it, the eras of PB’s obsessions form a pretty linear timeline of a shitty relationship. Hear me out: first came the barrage of wedding books, then it was the pregnancies and parenthood, but now they’re tired of the picturesque shit so we’re on to the affairs and homewrecking. At this rate we’ll be playing divorcees or widowers by next year.

From what I hear, it’s a fucking travesty that PB murdered TRR in the end. Literally everybody else’s headcanons are better and I’ll resort to fanfic as canon.

Out of all the Choices books you've played, which one do you feel had the most worth it diamond options (whether it was scenes/outfits/etc)? Not because like, all of the important info like clues was paywalled, but because you felt the main story was already super good on its own and the premium options made the book even more amazing
Blades and The Elementalists hands down. Full disclosure though, I haven’t done a free playthrough of either of these so idk if the stories suffer without the premium options. But I think I can still say that the diamond options are worth it because I’m extremely stingy with my diamonds. I only spend them when I’m already enjoying the story, really like the extras being offered, and feel that I’ll get the bang for my buck so to speak. And there were several chapters in both series where I was buying literally all of the premium options offered. And I don’t think I regretted any of my purchases.
I obviously loved the LIs I chose in each book considering they’re both in my top 10 LIs of all time. And Blades and TE also have two of the best friend groups, so I definitely bought quite a few of the scenes to either get one on one LI time or more time with everybody hanging out together. The items/weapons, skills, spells, etc. made both series a lot more fun to play as well, especially because we rarely get OP MCs. That’s why I need to start stocking up for Blades 2 🤦🏽‍♀️

So, here is my personnal headcannons of pairings of former LIs:
TRR/TRH/TRF:
My MC married Liam.
I would have loved to see Maxwell and Hana end up together, they are both so sweet, and she's responsible to balance his goofiness while he knows when to have fun to balance her seriousness.
Drake and Olivia spent the whole series teasing each other, mainly with whiskey and daggers in silver plates. I think they are both rough diamonds with a softer heart, and it would have been nice to see them date.
If my MC had married Drake (which I wanted to do on my second walkthrough but I also decided she would not be a romantic but a roughless ambitious and she ended up marrying royalty because that's where the power is) I could have seen Olivia and Liam together. They don't strike me as a perfect pair, but they've known each other for long and were each other's only friend for a while (except for Drake in Liam's case).
Endless Summer
Idk what needs to be said but... Jake x Estella, and Sean x Quinn.
Renegade soldier boy and aventurer assassin girl? Perfect pairing.
Sweet boy scout and nice shy girl? Perfect pairing.
Desire and Decorum
Luke Harper was paired with one of Miss Parsons' little sisters and that was great.
I think Prince Hamid would have been a great husband for the other sister.
As for Miss Parson I think, had she been interested in men, she could have been married to Ernest Sinclaire. They are both headstrong and difficultely giving their trust. Since she is not interested in men, she could have married Mr Chambers to stop her family from pestering her into marriage.
Distant Shores
I've got to admit I could have imagined Edward and Charlie together. They had chemistry.
Red Carpet Diaries
Seth and Teja together for work and for life!
Victoria Fontaine, I don't see her married to anyone. And I don't see Matt Rodriguez marrying anyone except MC?? Idk. Maybe with Addison?
Hunter? Single for life. If he can't get with MC, no one can get with him or something.
The Crown and the Flame
My Kenna married Raydan.
Dom? Oh come on with Rose! I was so sad she didn't come back in book 2 and 3!
Tevan would go well with Annelise I think. They have common interests (fashion, beauty, but also culture)
I could see Val ending with Diavolo. They are both ruthless. But there's something off with their vibes idk, it's not a soulmates pairing.
The Elementalists
Shreya and Griffin would go together. They're both extroverts, popular, and enterprising. They would be the kind of couple where he is out of the house half of the year, trekking and doing charity work on the other side of the world, when she's at home running her business/also on the other side of the world but not the same, to run her business.
I could picture Beckett and Aster together. They both have this shyness/precaution to them...
Wake the Dead
Like in Endless Summer we've got the tough LIs and the nice LIs, but here they are 5 so it complicates pairings. Also here I don't think pairing the tough together would work, smae with the nice.
Mine ended with Shanon but I could see her with Eli. He needs her knowledge and strategy, she needs his strength and bravery.
Angel would end up alone I think. Not everyone is cpaable of following her pace.
I don't see the girl from the gritty people who kill zombies and change their names, whose name I forgot, settling, much less when it would mean show her men a soft side of her and maybe make her lose her grip on them.
Troy? idk tbh. He seemed kinda bland to me.

An essay idea that's been floating in my mind for a while now, is a possible deep dive into the alternative pairings for the main LIs in TRR (ie who did PB originally try to match up the LIs with if the MC wasn't going to marry them). Liam x Olivia, Drake x Kiara, Maxwell x Penelope and Hana x Madeleine. Basically the idea is to explore the following:
1. When do the hints start?
2. What are we told about the background of such a relationship?
3. How long did the attempts to do a pair-up last?
3. How do the writers' and fandom's attitudes (towards each alternative LI) colour her treatment in the story?
4. How do the writers' and fandom's attitudes (towards each main LI) colour the way they're expected to behave towards their alternative, and how they are treated?
5. None of these pairings actually happen. How does the end of TRR3, and TRH, handle this?
Would anyone be interested in this? I just want to see if anyone would like to be tagged in such an essay 👀

Cadybear's Reviews- Baby Bump
Welcome to the twenty-first official Cadybear's Reviews! Today I'll be talking about Baby Bump, which I have ranked on the "Gold Tier" at 8 stars out of a possible 10.
WHY DO PEOPLE HATE THIS SERIES!? WHY!? It’s FINE!
Okay, I can maybe see why people may not like it because, let’s be real, accidental pregnancy is a very overdone trope. And apparently there were a lot of parts that were originally problematic when the story was released and had to be re-written, but I wasn’t around for that and I know next to nothing about the original lines, so I can’t say much about them. But even now, how does it get ranked as being among the worst so often? Even if you think it’s bad, it’s really not that bad.
Like… I found it decent? I don’t think it’s nearly as bad as a lot of people have said it is. And I’m saying this as a GNC cis woman who experiences major genital dysphoria and absolutely REVILES the idea of becoming pregnant. Like, I would rather die than ever experience being pregnant. And yet I still quite enjoyed this story.
I guess it kind of helps that the book is very clearly a pregnancy book from the beginning, so I kind of went in knowing what to expect and thus not self-inserting as the MC at all. Unlike something like TRH, which is a continuation that suddenly introduces a “MC gets pregnant” plot to a non-pregnancy series… but that’s a subject for a different day.
I’ll be honest though, this story has a pretty awful start. In the flashback in B1 Ch1 where MC meets Mr. Covington, they try waaaayyyyy too hard to make the player swoon at the idea of having his babies. Like, did the guy they wanted to be MC’s baby daddy HAVE to be a celebrity company salesman, who is also the keynote speaker at MC’s graduation?
And don’t even get me started on the Clint fangirls, who feel like they were written by someone who’s only ever been surrounded by the “Facebook Mom” stereotype and has never met (and probably never will meet) a real horny woman in their entire life.
Literally, the scene is just all like “OMG LOOK!!! BIG FAMOUS CELEBRITY SALESMAN!!! OMG HE HAS *GASP* ABS!!! OH WOW, A MALE LI IN CHOICES WITH ABS AND BIG MUSCLES! THAT’S SO UNIQUE AND SPECIAL AND TOTALLY NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE!!! OMG ALL THE OTHER WOMEN ARE CHANTING OVER HIS ABS AND WANT TO HAVE HIS BABIES TOO!!! DON’T *YOU* WANT TO HAVE HIS BABIES TOO!?!?!?! AREN’T YOU SOOOOOO LUCKY THAT YOU’RE GOING TO BE HAVING HIS BABIES?!?!?!?!?!?!?”. Like, how much intelligence do you think your wlm audience has PB? Really trying to pander to the “Facebook Karen Mom” stereotype here, huh?
With that in mind, I guess I can understand why people may have gotten a bad impression of the book at first, because the story for how MC got pregnant in the first place (and her conflict with Cassandra in Book 1) feels straight out of one of those weird Instagram and Facebook ads.
But besides that, it was an okay series! I found it mostly cute and wholesome. Literally everything else was fine! There were even a few moments in Book 2 that made me cry, like when MC can record a sweet message for the babies with a plush bunny she can get from the Baby Baskets.
Besides maybe Book 1 Dr. Mariana Castillo who is just way too unserious (at least she gets better in Book 2), I honestly really liked the main cast. Even though MC is technically an outsider to the town, she still gets to be very driven and gets shit done rather than being the typical doe-eyed newbie who needs to be shown the ropes. Clint is a sweetheart and does get to be more than just “har dee har muscular celebrity salesman who knocks you up aren’t you soooo lucky” that they wanted him to be in the first chapter. Mayor Dixon is a nice mix of goofy and tsundere, and the female version Myra contributed to my bi awakening. Luisa is just a queen all around. MC’s sister… initially she could sometimes be a bit of a stereotypical “OMG girly girl talk best friend to talk exclusively about LI and diamond outfits” but she does become more than that too, and I really like her subplot with Bao. Speaking of, Bao is just the most absolute precious ever (and shame on PB for making him the sister’s LI and not one for MC /jk).
The antagonist characters were… kind of a mixed bag, I will admit. They were memorable, but also kind of stupid. Like I said before, Cassandra’s storyline in Book 1 just felt petty and cheap, plus I’m tired of straw loser villain female antagonists who exist solely to compete with the MC over the LI. It never got too overbearing, but it was still stupid. Book 2 Cassandra is great though.
Then there’s Craig, who wants to destroy everything MC and friends accomplish and take over Gracetown because… potatoes. I guess he’s alright as he is actually a threat in Book 2, but the townspeople can be pretty damn meek to him which is a little weird. But he was still a strong antagonist in that book. Book 1 Craig feels a lot more like he just exists to be an annoyance for the sake of being an annoyance, though.
Jebediah is a lot more compelling as an antagonist character, and I did expect the Covington family conflict to be incredibly boring but it turned out otherwise. He’s a jerk at first, but it’s nice to see how he does genuinely try to change throughout the storyline of Book 2.
Also, props to this for being one of only three Choices series ever (the others being OG HSS and ILITW) where the collectible system has some items that aren’t diamond-walled. The baby blanket collectibles are really cute, and it’s really refreshing to have a collectible system that isn’t “the first one is free and then the rest you have to pay for”. Like HSS, there are even some pieces that are determinant on your success in certain events. Why can’t more series do their collectibles like this??? (Oh right, because it requires actual effort).
Would I say it’s a good or accurate portrayal of pregnancy? IDK, I’m not an expert. But it’s fine if you just want a lighthearted pregnancy story to chill out to.

Top Ten Annoying Children in Choices
There are many children encountered throughout the Choices universe, some more palatable than others. Though they’re all arguably some degree of annoying, this list ranks the top ten of the most annoying children. At least, in my opinion, anyway. So sit back, relax, and read as a 21 year-old grad school student with real life responsibilities tears fictional children to shreds.
10. The Heir.
Tumblr media
The Heir is unique in that she’s the only directly customizable child on this list with six different sprites you can choose for her regardless of your own appearance. Throughout TRH and TRF, I can truthfully say I didn’t find anything endearing about her. Like, at all. It certainly didn’t help that PB wrote her like they write animals. But her personality did get slightly better as she aged as the books went on. The same cannot be said about her appearance, however. In fact, I’d say her appearance got worse as the books went on. The Heir as a baby looks perfectly fine. The Heir as a toddler looks like she’d infect me with COVID-19 by spitting a half-chewed chicken nugget into my coffee. And The Heir as a four year-old looks like she’d beat me unconscious with a cane and call me “whippersnapper”.
9. Daughter (MOTY).
Tumblr media
Our daughter in MOTY is actually the only child on this list with a genuinely good design. She looks genuinely cute, and that is high praise from someone who doesn’t think kids are cute. I was also sympathetic to her plight as she didn’t fit in well at school and found herself perpetually bullied. However, PB wrote her in such an obnoxious way that I just couldn’t help but be annoyed by her. She’s a gifted and incredibly smart child, but PB could’ve written her so, so much better. To me, she just came across as a slightly less obnoxious Brainy Smurf because of how badly her dialogue and writing were done.
8. Taari.
Tumblr media
Taari was a Nothing Character, plain and simple. He didn’t add anything to Endless Summer, and he didn’t appear much at all, which is why he’s not very high on the list. But my god. This kid had practically no sense of self-preservation and Seraxa constantly had to bail his ass out of danger and scold him for getting himself into it in the first place. Kinda like another kid who’s much, much higher on the list, but more on that later.
7. Camellia.
Tumblr media
Camellia didn’t appear much at all, but when she did, GOD was she annoying. She mostly appeared in RoE where she and Jiro were constant obstacles during Jess’s job as a tour guide, though she was much less of a brat than Jiro was.
6. Bartie.
Tumblr media
You knew going into this list that Bartie would appear here. You knew. Let me summarize it. Annoying family, hideous design as a baby, whiny as fuck, named after Barthelemy. Though interestingly enough, I’d say he and Bianca are the least detestable of the Walker family, which really says a lot.
5. Lula Jacobs.
Tumblr media
Kids have no place in horror stories unless they’re integral to the plot, as is the case with ILITW and THoBM. Lula serves absolutely no purpose in Bloodbound and isn’t even remotely endearing. In addition to her character adding nothing of substance to the story, our character is forced to care for her just because. Also? She’s fucking creepy, man.
4. Jiro.
Tumblr media
We’re reaching the really annoying ones now. Jiro, like Camellia, mainly appears in RoE as an obstacle during Jess’s job as a tour guide. Unlike Camellia, though, he is almost always the one who causes trouble. He whines, he tries to throw spitballs, he splashes Camellia on the boat ride, and is generally a nuisance during any of his appearances.
3. Augustus Blackwood.
Tumblr media
Augustus “August” Blackwood is Vanessa Blackwood’s insufferable, classist little shit of a son. He bullies the main character’s daughter and doesn’t have a pleasant bone in his body. As someone who was bullied myself, I wanted nothing more than for Luz Mendez to punt this little asshole into the sun. He would have been number #1 on this list if he’d appeared more and had a bigger role because I know my annoyance would’ve gone up if he had.
2. Isaac & Lyra Achilles.
Tumblr media
Yes. These are two kids. However, due to them being twins, ALWAYS appearing together, and having the exact same personalities, I’m ranking them as one entity. Anyway, these kids are spoiled rotten, uncouth, uncontrollable, arrogant, and remorseless. They are ungrateful little leeches and I was so happy to get rid of them. I cannot stand spoiled children. I hate them. I hate them. I hate them.
1. May.
Tumblr media
But Binglebonkus, why is May your number one over these spoiled, entitled little brats? Well, hypothetical person, I’m so glad you asked. While May’s personality is at least pleasant, she has ZERO self-preservation and the most insane plot armor out of anyone in Choices when there’s no reason for her to even have any in the first place. She regularly gets herself into grave danger, forcing others to risk their lives to help her. Feather lost his status as an Elder saving her life, so you’d think she’d be at least a little more careful, right?
Apparently not. We have to save her several times throughout the book and even spend a sizable chunk of one chapter during a battle trying to chase after her and get her to safety. But that’s not even the end of it. Remember how I said children have no place in horror stories unless they’re integral to the plot? May adds nothing to the story like Lula Jacobs, and also like Lula, our character is forced to care for her WAAAAAY more than they really should. The only things that endear her to the player are that she’s super young and presumably orphaned.
With all that being said, PB constantly pushes May-centric diamond scenes on us. Gather plants with May. Buy May this plushie. Tell May a story. Build flower beds with May. PB seems to have wanted May to be like Clementine from The Walking Dead and have us care for her and want to protect her, so they tried to achieve that by pushing diamond scenes with her.
Unlike Clementine, though, May is an incredible liability. Yes, she apparently knows about plants and gardening, but she constantly endangers herself and others, making her unquestionably more of a liability than an asset.
To recap: while her personality is pleasant, I loathe May because she adds nothing to the story whilst being an unrealistic character in that she constantly endangers herself and others while somehow surviving every encounter no matter how severe (like being the only person the Queen didn’t eat, which I call bullshit on) and receives nothing more than a metaphorical slap on the wrist from anyone who has to haul her ass out of trouble. And of course, everyone still unquestionably adores her even after she nearly gets them killed trying to save her for the umpteenth time.
Basically, May is a veritable waste of manpower and resources and could have been a good character, but she was a garbage one instead.

The only way I would be interested in Guarded is if there are Red Carpet Diaries cameos.
I would happily click through it if I could even get a glimpse at one Thomas Hunt again.
However, since PB didn't take advantage of that in TRH, I'm not sure they'll bring him back now. 😭

Cordonian History in the Bad Romance Universe
In case anyone needs or wants some reminders about what did and did not happen in the Bad Romance universe. As I get ready to launch Bad Parenting, it occurred to me that a little refresher might be in order.
Tumblr media
These will be spoilers if you have not already read Bad Romance.
The Social Season Scandal: The scandal was pictures of Riley with Maxwell while she was a suitor during the social season. Photos were taken in her private room by a hidden camera. Tariq used the photos to try and blackmail her to have sex with him and physically attacked her when that didn’t work. Any accomplices were never proven. Tariq was killed by Drake, when he came her to rescue. He beat him to death after Tariq made remarks his other sister Sierra (Not Savannah, I’ve given him a second sister in this) who was murdered. Drake was arrested and charged with murder and had to appear for a miliary hearing with the JAG. Once it came to light that he was protecting Riley on Liam’s orders, all charges were dismissed. The scandal was eventually resolved by Liam paying someone to claim to have photoshopped the pictures.
Sierra’s killer: Riley lured Sierra’s killer, Count Fredrick Monsommer to a private location where he was killed by Drake and Marco. The investigation into the count’s death stalled when Liam refused to cooperate by turning over palace security footage, royal guard duty logs or produce Drake Walker for questioning. The detective, who had a relative that had been harmed by the count, didn’t bother to push anymore and it ended up in the cold case file.
Riley and Liam’s Wedding: There were no issues at Riley and Liam’s wedding. So if Anton and Sons of the Earth are out there, they haven’t made an appearance yet. I have thrown TRR book three out the window because it was pretty much trash. (Sorry PB). No tour begging nobles for their support. They have that because everyone loves Riley for getting rid of Fredrick (even if no one can prove it was her), who was hated by all. Everyone already loved Liam.
Ellies birth: Drake, Liam and Olivia joined forces and Drake made a very convincing threat of death as he held Bradshaw under water until he agreed to open the doors with no betrothal agreement. Bradshaw and Isabella kicked up a bit of a fuss, but there were no witnesses to their claims and they knew that the royal council of Auvernall would not approve going to war without solid evidence, so they slunk home with their tails between their legs. So none of TRH book 2 happened.
Conventus Nobilis: This never happened because Barthelemy was killed as soon as he threatened to try and take Ellie. He had an unfortunate accident courtesy of Drake. None of TRH book 3 happened.
Lucretia’ Arrest: Everything above happened in the original Bad Romance. This is new information for Bad Parenting. Since I’m not following the events of TRF, in this universe Lucretia was arrested in Hidar after a failed coup attempt. She is currently sitting in a Hidarian prison awaiting trail for treason. Lucretia has a daughter named Lilith who passed into Olivia's custody upon her arrest. (Lilith Nevrakis was created by, and borrowed from, @harleybeaumont with permission, she's just been reconceived as a teenager and as Olivia's cousin instead of sister.)
Via Imperii: I haven’t addressed this anywhere so I’m saying that the VI is still a thing, but they haven’t moved against Cordonia.

you’re not wrong at all but i guess im just used to mcs having absolutely no backstory, feelings, or definitive character traits. the plot just happens to mcs, mcs don’t make the plot happen. even though expectations are higher for blades its still choices with all the limits and misses opportunities of any other book. i cant really think of an mc that feels like their own character before the book and plot starts, besides maybe cop mc in the first book and th:m mc
Just wanna start off by saying I’m so sorry that I never actually responded to this! I could’ve sworn I had already posted, but found this fully typed up sitting in my drafts just now 😵‍💫 But yeah anyway…
See I don’t normally have a problem with “blank-slate MCs” though. I actually prefer them because I can use my imagination to create a backstory and (ideally) give them the traits I want through my choices. My main problem is that the few choices we are allowed to make usually just don’t matter beyond like a slight variation in dialogue as a result. And even bigger than that, there isn’t much diversity in the options we’re given to begin with.
I think if those problems didn’t exist, Blades MC was allowed to react to whatever happens on a deeper level, and our so-called friends showed more concern through their actions, then the story would be a bit better for me. However, I will say that I also think that’s the bare minimum, especially considering the fact that the writers already gave MC a partial backstory but decided it wasn’t important to have that affect present MC and the story for whatever reason.
Doing that worked in a series like TRR/TRH because, in the grand scheme of things, that MC’s backstory didn’t really matter and the plot was a little more cut and dried. But with Blades, the stakes are incredibly high and everyone is basically questioning the meaning of life and existence itself, what morality means in a world where things are a lot more gray than previously thought, and the roles they play in that world. So although I usually don’t mind it, I don’t think keeping Blades MC’s background from affecting anything significant really works.
Not sure where I’m going with all this though because none of it really counters your point. You’re right that it’s still Choices after all, so our expectations should be a bit lower even for a book like Blades. But it still sucks because I feel like PB really didn’t have to push too much further to make it an outstanding story. They were the ones who gave themselves all this material and then just didn’t follow through :/

A late post for Writers appreciation Day.
@dcbbw you make royals look normal... The DC AU is one of my favourites. I can't stop there though, there is Liara, Riam, Driam, there are so many AU you have written that I love to read, i sort of lost the count. And then you are capable of doing just the opposite when you make us commoners turn into royals with your magic wand ( your Remix series). You are one mature person who the fandom will always look up to.
@alj4890 My fav Dralivia person. It doesn't end there though. "While we are young" brings another level of creativity like we have season 2 of TRR. The way you have made me fall for Emerick and Juliette! There is always so much fluff in your writings i feel a sugar burst after reading them. Keep going. 💖
@phoenixrising0308 your one scene where Jessica was mishandled by one of the guards in the end of TRR1 carved a deep niche in my fluff loving mind. I hate that moment so much for what it did to Jessica yet I love how you have shown the face of the brutal real world to the readers. You are angst machine. Never stop resurrecting phoenix. ❤️‍🔥
@angelasscribbles rare to find someone writing Leo seriously. Your mind is a mine of fics, neverending with so much to give us. Always.
@flowerpowell my go to person for Drake fics. When i read your fics, it feels like I am in a movie theatre. Just need some popcorns, sir back n enjoy the show, the firecrackers, the oceans of angst added before we reach the paradise. Keep writing!❣️
@ao719 the angst queen as they call you.i haven't enjoyed any crossover as much (i hardly played any more books on choices after trh). But Vancross is mind blowing. It takes herculean efforts to bring all the PB royals and VIPs under one roof. You are doing it and we are reaping the fruits. ❤️
@sfb123 for the uncle Drake series. I miss them!
@choiceskatie Gone girl was one of my first fics that I read on Tumblr. You are the reason I started loving Leo. I wish someday you comeback and complete that fic.
@princess-geek my friend from the another fandom (desires and decorum) i love you not just as an author but the loving and caring human being that you are! I love how you make me keep going through thick and thin. Sending loads of love to our Lady Fordale. 💞
@lizzybeth1986 you can't be just into a writer's list.. but just for today I want to take chance to appreciate that part of your personality too. I look at you as someone more than a writer and i call you a critic. You have the flair of dissecting those characters in you gripping essays. They are sometimes more than an essay to me.. they are research work of a literature master. Thank for being there!💓
One person I miss the most is Pam of @speedyrascaloperaparty who left the fandom this year. My favourite author, i wish you happiness and success wherever you are.
@dcbbw, @alj4890, @phoenixrising0308, @angelasscribbles, @flowerpowell, @ao719, @sfb123, @choiceskatie, @princess-geek, @lizzybeth1986, @speedyrascaloperaparty

Still not over how thoroughly PB ruined the LIs in TRH.
Maxwell: sweet, kind, and loyal then turned into an egomaniac, idiotic manbaby who profited off of his friends’ lives
Liam: kind, selfless, and understanding then turned into selfishly asking his two best friends who had just gotten married to not only have a child so that he didn’t have to get married but to have that child be the heir of Cordonia
Hana: empathetic, sweet, and caring turned into someone who lost all her dimensionality, shoved to the side even more so than she was in TRR, and had her react in ways she wouldn’t have in TRR
Dr*ke didn’t change at all because PB loved him for some unknown reason
