Finding a home is hard in the wasteland, and you find yourself looking for one for longer than you could’ve ever imagined. These lands are harsh, unforgiving, dangerous, and dangerous beasts can even be found within the peaceful Forest region. During your travels, you run across a patrol of cats. On your guard, but already backed into a corner, you prepare for a fight as you have many times before.

But, despite you being a new face, these cats claim to mean to harm. They introduce themselves as cats of Railclan, peaceful felines who live alongside many loners, housecats and even humans. Upon finding out you’re all on your own, they invite you to their camp. And, perhaps, a part of their ranks. Reluctantly, but tempted, you take the offer.

Their camp is unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. Cats walk freely between the stalled trains, chatting with each other without a care in the world. There are all kinds of cats here, some even sporting collars, but almost all of them wave a friendly greeting at you with their right paw. These cats seem friendly, and as you’re offered something to eat in their warm camp, you notice they have more supplies in their camp alone than you’ve ever seen before. It looks like you got lucky here.

Will you stay?

After a month of preparations, Railclan applications are officially open! Adoptables will run from November 18th til December 2nd, and oc applications will run from November 18th til December 9th. Those who apply may apply for both an adoptable and an oc! Your oc may come from any background, whether it be a former loner who can’t let go of their old name, a housecat who visits at day and sleeps with their humans at night, or a cat from Mireclan or Radiumclan who decided to live life elsewhere, or were born into the clan itself...All cats are welcome in Railclan

Every clan needs a deputy! And for Railclan, that deputy is Highnoon!

Highnoon is a kind soul, if a bit neurotic. Some days, he even gets startled by his own shadow. His constant background level of anxiety has earned him the "fastest claws in the west", and his reflexes are no trifling matter. Perhaps this is how he has earned his place as the RailClan deputy. His favorite passtime is growing his beautiful bottlecap collection. If you befriend him, you might even get a glimpse of it. His motto: "Be rootin', be shootin', but most of all be kind."  

Highnoon is played by Mod Regis.

We’re down to the last one of our adoptables! Meet Banjomelon!

Banjomelon used to be a kittypet from a nearby human settlement. Born as Banjo, they were always wandering around and trying to make friends, including with the Railclan cats. It was around then that Banjomelon grew close with Cornticker, a Railclan warrior. The two were inseparable, until Cornticker was mysteriously killed during a solo hunt out in the territory. In her honor, Banjomelon decided to officially join Railclan and help them out while they all processed the loss of their friend and fellow warrior. Banjomelon still visits the human settlement from time to time, but is now mostly found within Railclan, trying to help out.

Mechanics play an important role within Railclan. They are cats with extensive knowledge of machinery and how to fix and make it, keeping the culture of the clan alive. Although these mechanics can not create machinery as impressive as humans can, they can still get more complicated machinery working and create small machinery such as working buttons, simple lights, and similar objects.

Railclan will try to have three mechanics at all times, and should that number fall below that, they will take on an apprentice. Apprentices are trained by all mechanics available, and will continue learning until they become mechanics themselves. Mechanic apprentices will remain apprentices until both their mentors deem them to be ready to become a full mechanic, and until the number of mechanics falls below three. This means that if there are three mechanics, the apprentice will remain an apprentice until a mechanic steps down or passes away. To be a mechanic, having thumbs is important. Due to the delicate ways these mechanics need to treat the machinery, being able to hold objects is incredibly useful. A cat without polydactylism can still become a mechanic, but may have a much harder time than a cat that possesses thumbs.

Only 19 hours left until Railclan applications close!

Railclan applications will only be open for less than a full day, so get those applications in! We’ll be closing the application form at 6am EST on the 10th, so make sure you get your applications in before that time.

We’re all very excited to meet the new members, and so are Littlesteam and Hawkpaw! The two of them are patrolling the Railways spread out across their territory while it’s still calm and quiet, although Hawkpaw doesn’t look very excited to be out there with his mentor... Thumbs are just an every day mutation for the average Railclan cats. Almost every cat who has had some Railclan generations before them has been gifted with thumbs, caused by Polydactylism

Railclan cats use these thumbs for many reasons, often including the machinery around their camp or using human supplies in ways cats without thumbs wouldn’t be able to. With how many human objects and buildings they are surrounded with, cats with thumbs will have a much easier time thriving in Railclan.

Railclan cats are very expressive with their paws, and it’s not rare to see them emoting with them while speaking. While cats from other clans will point at things with their tail or nose, Railclan cats will almost always use their right front paw.

You spot a long shape out of the corner of your eye. Whirling around, you catch a pale cat peering out of a small burrow at you, eyes wide and wet, luminous in the sunlight; It seems anxious and a little uncertain, smiling nervously at you, wondering if you are friend or foe. ‘’Uh, hello?’’ It waves a paw at you, worm-like tail coiling around its hindlegs as it considers briefly fleeing back down into its burrow, unable to meet your eyes. ‘’W-would you mind…getting off our territory? No-no big deal, uh-’’ It giggles uncomfortably, ears drooping loosely against its head. ‘’Unless you’re here to join! Yeah, that’s totally cool! I-I can get Littlesteam for you and everything, uh-!’’ It begins to ramble, darting off into a confusing maze of machinery - that just the thought of following it makes your head spin. Uh, anyway- Telephonecall joined a few moons before the death of Ticksteam, after losing its parent. Since joining, it has become a well-fitting part of RailClan and cannot imagine being a loner again - it never did like all that traipsing around. Telephonecall can be found scurrying about with pieces of scrap metal and bringing them back to its burrow just outside RailClan’s camp - or claiming that the sky will fall someday. It misses Ticksteam greatly and cannot help but doubt Littlesteam’s ability to lead the clan, though it’s fine! It’s all fine! Things are great! Telephonecall does not want to make a fuss, no, no, don’t worry about it, guys! RailClan is great and nothing dangerous at all is lurking out there…gosh, Telephonecall wonders just what killed Ticksteam. Would you like to wonder along side Telephonecall?

Welcome to Railclan’s second adoptable, Silverbeacon! --------------------------------- Silverbeacon is a softspoken and generous warrior. Their first litter may have been unplanned and at a young age, without the sire in the picture, but Highnoon solemnly swears he and Tinkerwhisker turned out just fine. Silverbeacon is as their name suggests a dependable and trustworthy figure, but is in no way a pushover. They have made hard decisions before, and they will make them again. The Cranberry Bog is an area of great danger that only the bravest cats dare enter. At one point in the past, it was a swampy, open area with many cranberry bogs, as the name suggests. Now, it’s a home for dangerous creatures, radiation, and also a great amount of useful supplies.

The Cranberry Bog is characterized by it’s red coloration, visible in every part of the nature present in the area. Grass, trees and fruit have all adapted to the same color, and this makes for a strange looking environment. Besides the wild nature and lack of hiding places due to the lack of foilage to hide in, many abandoned human structures can also be found within the area. But, just like the clans, humans are also rare finds within these lands, as they also recognize the danger they would find themselves in.

The Cranberry Bog is a mini-DND styled area, and entering it needs a patrol consisting of three to five roleplayers and cats from the same clan. After every turn, meaning if all cats on the patrol have written their post, a dice will be rolled in a hidden chat to decide what will happen. A cat’s actions can also determine the outcome in some cases if mods feel like it is significant enough to do so, or if cats are in a conversation or otherwise multi-turn situation. In these cases, the hidden rolls will be skipped until no longer necessary.

Your cats will have Health Points depending on your cat’s rank within the clan, but we will not seriously injure or kill your cats unless you wish for such a thing to happen. Once your cat runs out of health points in a fight or due to any other event that might take those away, they will be out for that Cranberry Bog patrol, and can no longer be roleplayed for the duration of it unless the cats find an item to revive said cat. If all cats run out of health points, they will retreat back to camp.

A roleplay in the Cranberry Bog will end if the cats decide to leave, run out of health points, or once a week passes by.

Morgantown is a town located nearby the Railclan camp, and includes the Morgantown Airport. While Morgantown is not a massive town, it’s still quite large, and a decently sized human settlement can be found here. The town has mostly been picked clean by humans and animals alike. Regardless, the humans and other animals here are friendly, and will often share their supplies with the Railclan cats if they can spare some. The further one travels into Morgantown, the taller the structures become. The buildings offer protection from any aerial enemies that could target cats, and is thus considered a fairly safe location close to Railclan camp. This doesn’t mean there are not dangers out there, sadly. Feral ghouls, mole rats, mongrels and radrats might still find their way into Morgantown due to the open roads. Across the main road that passes Morgantown, one can find the Morgantown Airport. The Morgantown Airport is a strategic defense point with turrets and missile launchers, although only humans can use these. The Morgantown airport can safely be entered by cats, though they might face a higher frequency of threats due to the airport no longer being fully fenced off.

Arktos Pharma is a pre-war, abandoned pharmaceutical company now mostly inhabited by robots and several insects on the top-side. The location still holds many medical supplies even after all these years, and more and more stashes get discovered anytime the cats enter the building. This makes it a perfect location for healers to travel to.

But, although top-side has plenty of things to be discovered, the real treasure lies below ground. The discovery of the lower levels is a recent one, at least for Railclan. Below ground, the remainders of an experiment called “Project Paradise” lie. Project Paradise had the goal of building the perfect habitat for life to exist in, and both flora and fauna can still be found here, all monitored by an AI called ARIC-4.  Every creature below ground is peaceful towards all other life, healthy, and well fed. The plantlife below ground is lush and thriving, even without natural life, and is a combination of pre-war and current time flora. This is the only location a cat may find themselves getting along with creatures such as Deathclaws, Fogcrawlers, and other dangerous beasts. Most of the time, at least... Railclan camp is located within the peaceful “Forest” area, close to Morgantown and several human settlements. The cats of Railclan live within the abandoned Morgantown Trainyard, left behind with plenty of machinery and broken down trains for the cats to use. The cats of Railclan have utilized the machinery well, and are able to run some of the machines left behind, including the heating system within the main building.

This makes being a Railclan cat comfortable living, and a big reason why so many strangers decide to stay. If their friendly disposition wasn’t enough to convince a cat, it’s the promise of comfort and safety within the trainyard.

Railclan cats sleep all around the trainyard, both in the main building, outside, and in and on the trains located outside. The only true dens they have are the nursery and the healers den, located within the warm main building, so no wounded, sick or young cats will ever have to worry about freezing in the harsh leaf-bares.

Close to Railclan camp, the cats can find Morgantown and the Morgantown airport. Both locations are rather peaceful after the departure of the Scorched several years ago, and the cats are on good terms with the humans that live there. Because of this, supplies are often found not far off from camp.

Littlesteam is Railclan’s leader, and possibly the youngest leader the clan has ever seen. Littlesteam was a subject of his father, Ticksteam’s favoritism, and was appointed deputy at only eighteen moons, much to the shock of the clan. When Ticksteam passed away mysteriously during a patrol, found with wounds from an unknown creature in the territory, Littlesteam became the next leader. Despite how hard he tries, Littlesteam is inexperienced and immature. Most of the time he’s supported by his deputy and friend, Highnoon, but even with the two of them mistakes will be made. Littlesteam is very attached to the concept or trains and machinery, perhaps even more than the average Railclan cat, and it’s not rare to see him mimicking the sounds of machinery...
