A/N: Got this out a lot faster than i thought, once again i didnt read thru it lol so please excuse if there is any errors!
Word count: 2.1k
Part one
****
Bucky reached into the water pulling you out with his right arm, he let a gasp out when the temperature of the water touched his skin it was ice cold sending goosebumps all throughout his body. You were fully clothed, limp, cold to the touch, skin pale, lips blue. Not like he was used to, this wasn't the you he grew to love. You were radiant, your eyes were the most beautiful colour they reminded him of the night sky the way they shined like the stars, your lips were plump and filled with colour, looking at them now he almost couldn’t remember if they were more red or pink, he could feel his palms getting clammy, panic was running through him, when was the last time he saw the sparkle in your eyes? You were his sun, you were warmth, in this moment he felt regret he never got to kiss your lips.
He set you gently down on the tiled floor, you laid there lifeless, Steve was already kneeling down getting ready to start chest compressions, anything to bring you back, to Bucky, to him, to the team.
“No no no” Bucky mumbled.
“Vitals?” Tony frantically asked the AI
“No heartbeat detected”
Bucky didn’t know but tears were streaming down his face, so much regret was running through his veins, he didn't try hard enough and he knew that now but he didn't want to push you, he hated when Steve or Sam tried to push him. He wanted to hold you more and not like this, he wanted to feel life in your body, not this, all Bucky had ever known was death after being used by HYDRA for all those years and when they were finally out his head, everyone he knew before HYDRA were dead, except Steve of course but you brought life back into the super soldier something he was almost positive would never happened and Bucky was barely ever wrong but with you it felt so right.
The water surrounding them slowly started to evaporate, they realized it wasn’t coming from the tap in the tub, you made all the water and the fact it was disappearing, panic set in. “Where's medical?!” Tony frantically shouted.
“They are on there way” FRIDAY announced
Bucky couldn’t wait; he waited his whole life and it was a long one to finally be free and find someone like you, it felt like hours had passed since he busted down your door but he knew it had only been seconds, if not minutes. He scooped you up off the floor holding you in his arms as tightly as he could, he felt like they were wasting time sitting here doing what felt like the bare minimum when he knew the kind of medicine Tony had, he was a Stark after all and from being in the war he knew every second counted, he had a small hope that if he started running towards the medic wing your chances would be better rather than waiting around. He couldn’t take his eyes off of you fearing that this would be one of the last times he saw you and he wasn't prepared for that. You were so limp in his arms, water no longer dripping off of you. As he passed the rest of the team, all he could hear was gasps. He met the medical team half way, setting you on the stretcher before they ran off with you to med bay, Tony and Bruce trailing close behind them.
Bucky was frozen in place, he couldn’t feel anything, he felt like he was in a dream, a bad one, not like the nightmares he was used to this felt much worse, he kept hoping that he would wake up and leave his room to find you in the kitchen eating your morning cereal with Steve and you would give him the most beautiful smile he’s ever seen in all his years, the way he felt your eyes light up and the sun got a little brighter when you were near him, you thought he didn’t notice but Bucky noticed everything with you, or he thought he did. He doesn't even know when he stopped noticing things with you, or when you started to ignore the team, especially him. Part of him didn't even want to think about how long ago it started happening, how long you were truly alone.
Steve placed his hand on his best friends shoulder giving in a gentle squeeze “they’re gonna do everything in their power to get her back Buck”
Bucky couldn’t stop but replaying the last couple weeks or was it months? In his mind, did you do this on purpose? Was it an accident? Why did you do it? He remembers the first time he decided not to ask you to come with them. Sam, Steve, Natasha and him were going to try out this new chinese restaurant as they were coming up to your door, he was hoping for a miracle and you would open the door already ready to come with them and it would sort of be like a date but not really but he would pretend it was, but it didn't happen and he wasn’t sure how much more his heart could take of being shot down all the time so he decided he wasn't going to ask you tonight, when they finally reached your door, Steve stopped “Buck, aren't you going to ask y/n if she wants to come?”
Bucky's eyes went to your door, he doesn't remember the last time he was in your room, laying in your bed with you talking about anything and everything. He felt a pain in his chest and he mumbled out “No point” shrugging his shoulders leaving the 3 of his friends behind him making his way to the elevator. He heard them laughing, probably at him he felt pathetic he was a super soldier for christ sake but he couldn’t muster up all the strength in the world to ask you on a real date just him and you, or to admit his ever growing feelings for you, so he did what he knew best, kept quiet and to himself, he just wish he knew then he was hurting you in the process too, not just himself.
Everyone was patiently waiting in the common room just outside med bay. Bucky couldn't take his attention away from the plum tree just outside the window, when you grew it for him he swore his heart skipped a beat, that was one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for him, he still remembers that day like it only just happened. He had just left the gym and was heading back to his room when he saw you laying down in front of his door reading whatever book you were reading, you must have been deep into the book because you didn't notice him standing directly above you, he whispered “Good book?” making you jump and drop the book on your face, he couldn’t help but chuckle, he threw his towel over his shoulder offering you a hand up.
“It was a good book till i lost my place” You huffed
“Sorry doll” he smiled, something he only ever did around you, the real kind of smile, the kind that made his cheeks hurts not the fake kind he did around everyone else, he watched you dust yourself off and run your fingers through your hair, fixing yourself up, he didn't understand why you already looked perfect “So what do i owe the pleasure of having a beautiful girl like you waiting on a guy like me?”
Giggling “Well i have something for you, a gift” you blushed, he watched you rock back and forth on your feet, he was getting that feeling in his stomach again he wasn't sure what it was but it was warm, something he didn't think he deserved to feel again let it actually happening but here it was, with you.
He quickly showered and changed, when he stepped out of the bathroom you hadn’t moved you were still sitting on the edge of his bed, flipping through your book, trying to figure out where you left off, when you felt his presence you looked up, your eyes meeting his “You ready to go Buck?”
He nodded making his way to the door “after you doll”
It was silent when the two of you were making your way wherever you were leading him, he didn't ask any questions he would follow you anywhere, anytime no questions asked. You made your way outside to a tree he doesnt think he seen before, because it was the only tree there, he watched you start moving your hands with elegance, he was and always has been in complete awe of your abilities, with a doubt in his mind you were the most amazing person to have ever come from HYDRA. He had no idea what the gift was but he knew he would love it, whatever it was because it was from you, but when Bucky saw something start growing on the tree his eyes went wide “How did you know?”
“I overheard you talking to Steve about them the other day, how you missed them and the ones from the store didn't taste the same” You spoke softly, folding your hands behind your back looking down shyly. Bucky made his way to the plum tree picking one before he made his way over to you, he used his right arm to put a strand of hair behind your ear, his fingertips lightly touching your cheek while doing so it sent shivers down your spine and butterflies in your stomach, you lifted your gaze to meet his. He took your hand in his, giving it a light squeeze “this is my favourite gift”.
“The tree or that one plum?” you giggled, pointing at the perfect plum in his hand.
He took a moment before responding to you, really taking everything in, the view, his feelings because he was feeling a lot of them, some new some old, the emotions he could see in your eyes, how perfect you truly were but also how right it felt having your hand in his, his tongue ran over his lips “You” he breathed out, you kept your gaze on him for a few more seconds before you felt heat rising to your cheeks, looking back down, his thumb rubbing circles on your hand, he wasn't sure if you felt what he was feeling but when a single butterfly landed on the plum in his hand, he knew.
Bucky wasn't the best with time, after being in and out of cryo for so long he didn't care to tell time, so he wasn't sure how long he was standing here staring at the window lost in thought till he was finally pulled away from it, he felt Steve come up from behind him, he cleared his throat, placing another hand on his friends shoulder looking out the window to see what Bucky was staring at for the last hour.
“Y’know she grew that for me?”
Steve smiled “I know because you wouldn’t shut up about it” Bucky let out a soft chuckle, turning to face his friend “I messed up Steve”
Steve didn’t say anything he didn’t know what to say and Steve almost always knew what to say but he couldn’t comfort his friend because it was unknown if you were alive or not, he knew you were a fighter but what he saw, you were lifeless, FRIDAY even confirmed there was no heartbeat, he wasn't trying to give his oldest friend false hope, so in the meantime he decided that just being there was enough.
“I don’t understand, she can breathe underwater can't she?” Natasha finally spoke to no one in particular, turning all heads towards her before anyone could respond when the door opened. Tony walked in “She can” all eyes were on him, something he usually loved but it made him feel uneasy today. It was quiet, Tony sat down took off his glasses, he rubbed the bridge of his nose with his fingers before looking Bucky dead in the eye “they found a heart beat, its shallow but its there”

Quarantine + N95 + Landline + Telescope + Social Distance
A small MacRiley piece I came up with while on twitter but the idea was so pure I had to write it...hopefully I can do it justice. If you want to use it go right ahead!
FAIR WARNING: its a quite cheesy and I teared up a bit...Just had the inspiration to write this one today I guess...
Mac’s singing was just teased yesterday so I took inspiration for this piece from that. Hope you like it!
Spoiler for season 5 I guess?!
*****************
Riley was cleaning up her room. Well technically it wasn’t hers. It was one of the rooms in Mac’s house. She had to keep reminding herself that this situation was not permanent. That she couldn't get too attached. The pandemic would eventually end and she would have to move out, but right now she was quarantining with Mac and Bozer.
it was dangerous. Bozer knew her secret and she knew Boze. Riley knew he would never tell Mac, but that didnt mean he wouldn't try and set them up anyways.
She rolled her eyes and smiled thinking of Bozer’s previous attempts at leaving them alone in the past few months, always slinking off to bed early with the fake yawns while they were watching Star Wars or even when they were all camping in tents around Mac’s fire pit because they were just that bored. Riley had told him to cut it out but he just played innocent. As if she couldnt read her little brother.
She grabbed the Chinese take out boxes off her desk looked over at her much cleaner room. She still had her new rig’s parts splayed out all over the desk surrounded by a bunch of wires and 2 screens. It was her little quarantine project and she was making good progress building up a rig from scratch.
Riley opened her room and door and was just about to close it and step out when she thought she heard a ukulele. Mac’s door was just slightly open and the sound of the string instrument was definitely coming from there.
She could tell Mac was strumming the strings and testing the notes, the woody sound of the ukulele reaching her ears as she stood outside her room which was close enough to his for her to hear now that her door was open.
But then he started singing, his voice floating through the air, through his room and out the door into the hallway, where Riley was now standing. She silently walked towards his door, being careful not make any sound so she could hear him play just for a few seconds.
Riley was completely taken aback. Mac could play the ukulele? She had never in her life thought Angus MacGyver could sing let alone play an instrument. She knew he loved his 80′s pop songs and had heard his occasional humming and impromptu jamming sessions while they were going anywhere in his truck but this was something else. Something she couldnt even describe.
His voice was soft and mellow as if he was just testing it and it felt personal. Riley felt like she was intruding but she couldnt make herself move. His voice had completely captivated her, holding her feet in place.
Of course Mac could sing and play the ukulele. He could save the world with a Swiss army knife and some paperclips. He could risk his life for people he didnt even know. People who didnt even deserve it at times. He was so many things to Riley. Her best friend, a part of her small family and the boy she was in love with.
The thought hit her all of a sudden. The exact way it had after they had stopped the German bomb from going off. All of a sudden she was back there holding Mac’s hand.
The thought that would change everything, hitting her like lightning.
The thought she had never considered. Never let herself think about. She was in love with her best friend.
That it had always been Mac.
Her mind betrayed her and it flashed back to the moment they had hugged and held hands in the barely standing building in Germany and then to the time he had reached for her hand when the Reaper missile intended for Codex was about to kill them.
He had never brought it up again and so Riley hadn’t either. Though she knew exactly what it was. Mac had held her hand because he was scared. It didnt mean anything. She remembered his words, what he had told her and nobody else, that he was afraid of dying alone.
That’s all it was in that moment. His fear.
Mac’s tone shifted to something less gentle but brighter and he was now singing lyrics she could almost make out and she smiled to herself.
Was he singing about Dr. Fauci? Riley strained to hear and she realised it was probably something Mac had written himself.
The words rhymed and flowed like a stream, Mac’s voice the current driving the song.
A huge grin spread across her face. Even during such a bleak situation, he had found something that had unintentionally brought a smile to her face.
It hurt a little knowing that she would never truly be able to tell Mac how much he meant to her. How much he had changed her life when he had got her out of that prison.
He had been a wreck the last 10 months because of Codex and she really wished she could have done more to somehow help him through it. To some how tell him things would get better. That his grief would lessen and his broken heart would heal.
That was why she had gone after him when he went rogue. She trusted him maybe even more than she trusted herself. She didnt hesitate even a second when she got a chance to ditch everything and save him. She would take that risk all over again.
Riley forced herself to walk away before Mac could find out she had been listening in.
******************
Bozer stood at the end of the hallway that led to Mac and Riley’s respective rooms, when he heard what he was sure was Mac singing. When he looked around the corner he saw Riley standing silently in the hallway lost in thought, listening to Mac play.
Bozer’s heart broke for both his best friends.
They were so close yet so far apart.
Riley had realised she had feelings for Mac. The last time he brought it up she was in denial. Bozer knew it hurt her every time he asked her how she was doing but he had to do it. He had to remind the one woman who had been there for Mac through thick and thin, that she had those feelings.
Bozer had to admit, even he had had his doubts when it came to Mac. Mac had been so broken and lost, that he wasn't sure if his best friend had finally shattered after his dad’s death.
But not Riley, never Riley. She risked everything when she went after him.
Her life. Her career. Her family. Her freedom.
He knew Mac had felt something for Riley years ago but had backed away because of Bozer, because Bozer was too blind to see that his genius best friend had a crush on Riley Davis, the newest addition to their team.
He wished he could go back and tell his old self that he and Riley would be great friends, close even.
But what Mac and Riley can have would be something for the history books. If only he had noticed those feelings in Mac sooner. He vowed to be more vigilant which is why he caught the looks between him and Desi.
Not like that had turned out well.
Eventhough Mac and Desi were still together-kinda- Bozer knew something had shifted between Mac and Riley. There was this undercurrent of something new, hiding just beneath the surface and it wasn't just from Riley.
Mac had faith in the universe so Bozer would too.
He silently asked the universe to get these two together, because no two people had ever been made more perfect for each other than Mac and Riley.
No other best friends he knew were this in sync with each other, had this much faith and trust in each other’s abilities and he knew that eventually no two people would ever love each other more than them
They just had to see it.

Until Every Star in the Universe Dies by @mytreec
Summary: Prompt 22. "Take me back to the night we met." (Lord Huron - The night we met)
For me personally, I don't mind if fics don't have summaries, one sentence is enough to pique my interest but others may not feel the same, so I would probably suggest do a short summary first, so people will know what they're diving into! Also I love the song so much KDHSJDJ i suggest yall read it with the song in the background!
They sat in the Great Hall surrounded by all the survivors. The battle was over, Voldemort was dead. But then why did they not feel the want to rejoice like everyone else around them? Why did they feel numb to their surroundings - the sounds, whispers, light, joy, everything? It was because the one person that mattered the most wasn’t there with them. How did any of this matter, winning the war and defeating the darkest wizard of all time, if they didn’t have them by their side? They’d lost their S/O; nothing mattered anymore.
I really love how you managed to describe the feelings, it really got me hooked so so good LIKE SO SO GOOD YOU HAVE NO IDEA
Filch’s footsteps and shouts drew closer. Y/N held her breath as they momentarily paused outside the tapestry before continuing onwards, releasing her breath only when she could no longer hear them. She turned to look up wide-eyed at the chocolate brown eyes staring down at her in curiosity. Both their chests heaved heavily, trying to get enough oxygen into their lungs.
DUDE THE TENSION HERE IS SO STRONG JSHDJSJJF I LOVE THIS YUH GET ITTTT
“You never told me your name!” she heard Fred shout out after her.
WAIT NO I LOVE THIS FRED WOULD DEFINITELY DO THIS OH MY DJSJJDJSHD there is just something about this sentence that makes me giddy like GAHHH HE WANTS TO KNOW HER NAMEEE
In the kitchen, Molly could be seen gripping onto the countertop, her knuckles white, not being to deal with the gut-wrenching sobs that sounded through the Burrow. George remained quiet, holding his best friend and rocking them back and forth.
WAIT NO— MOLLY NOOOO PLEASE I WANNA HUG HER SHSKHXJS NOOOOO NOT MOLLY
“Take me back,” they muttered over and over again, pleading the universe to rewind time and let them live these past seven years with their S/O again.
wow. this one right here broke me. IT BROKE ME MAITRI YOU KNOW THIS WOULD HAPPEN DIDNT YOU
Fred’s eyes didn’t waver from Y/N as he answered, “I’m going to marry her mum,” His eyes drifted away from Y/N to look at his mother, “I know we’re only seventeen and we’re still young but there can be no one but her.”
OH FUCK NO MAITRI THE FEELS IS TOO STRONG IM CRYING LEGIT TEARS
“Come dance with me,” he whispered into the quiet of the morning.
I'm weak for this. I aint strong for this mAITRI WHAT HAVE YOU DONE
They laid there in silence, staring into each other's eyes, relishing in the feeling of being in the other’s arms because who knew if they would be able to do this again. The war was coming, everyone could feel it. The darkness looming over the world had reached its optimum point, the muggles noticed it too whether they knew what it was about or not.
This paragraph right here, it's just beautiful. You described the situation so well and the feeling so wonderfully. HDJWJJDD YOURE SO GOOD AT THIS WHAT
They laid in bed that night in each other’s arms. Sleep was the last thing on their mind as they exchanged small kisses and quiet I-love-you’s, and wiped each other’s tears away. They stayed awake as the morning light streamed into the bedroom lighting up the world in a soft orange glow, staring at each other knowing that could very well be the last night they got to do this.
the way this broke me so much 🥺 MAITRI IS BREAKING MY HEART WHAT YOU WANTED?
“Why? Why did you leave me? Why do I get to live whereas you died?” they asked, their throat constricting as they compelled themself not to cry, “Why? Why did you push me out of the way?”
BROOOO NOOO NOT THE BREAKDOWN—JUST ANYTHING BUT THE BREAKDOWN IM CRYING
“No. Please no. No no no,” they choked out, hurrying to move the broken wall pieces aside and uncover the body, hoping it wasn’t them even though deep down they knew it was. The world fell silent as they fell onto their knees, numb to the shock that went up through their legs. They let out a blood-curdling cry at the sight of their S/O’s unmoving body; eyes unblinking, staring up at the ceiling but seeing nothing. They gathered them up in their arms, moving their hair and dust out of their face.
One question. How dare you
They continued to fight against Ron, shouting at him to let them go. They couldn't leave them alone, they had to get back to them. Their S/O couldn’t wake up all alone in the middle of an ongoing war.
MAITRI NOOOOO IM SOBBING THIS IS TOO SAD FOR ME PLEASE
The first smile, in months, broke out on their face, similar to the rays of sunshine peeking through the breaks in the clouds after a storm, as a gentle breeze grazed their cheeks, the feeling equivalent to fingers tracing the freckles on their cheeks and nose, playing connect-the-dots.
Momma this one right here is one good paragraph of words. I can't explain it but I love it so much
Also I won't spoil the ending but here is my reaction basically

The Dog Star 2
[cw: some shouting, anger, could be triggering for some]
<previous chapter>
If my little brother — a Death Eater who made Walburga, our mother very proud — had not gotten himself killed at the hands of the Dark Lord, I most likely would not have inherited my family’s home. Twelve Grimmauld Place loomed below us. The House of Black had never been welcoming, but I needed to make this Hari's home; its needed to welcome him.
I revved again as we made our descent, careful to make sure that Hari was still safe as we landed.
But there was a shadowy figure at the door. I wrapped Hari with my jacket, separating his sleepy head from what may lay ahead, panicking at the thought that he may be taken from me, or worse...
I neared cautiously, I daren’t say fearfully, my life had overflown with it for too long and I needed my courage more than ever now. The closer I got, the more I became certain that this was someone I knew, but the pressing fog in my head made it impossible for me to say who until —
Fearful amber eyes turned to me, lowered on the slowish breathing lump in my jacket and glistened under the light of the street lamps and the stars — I was named after the brightest one — and the no longer full moon.
Remus teared up more and more the closer I drew. He reached his hand out, once I was near enough, as if to touch Hari, but retracted it just as quickly, thinking better if it.
I did not want to let go of the baby. He was a lifeline then, keeping my head over water, stopping me from drowning in the grief and the mess and the truth and —
Remus had always been the best at gauging my emotion, my confusion radiating to him perhaps, permeating his ever calm demeanor, telling him that my hands and this baby were, at least for now, surgically attached. He tapped his wand to the door causing it to clunk painfully through the soundless night, and pushed it for us all to get in.
He lit the fire in the drawing room, all the candles and lamps and eventually took to standing in a far corner of the room staring at sleeping Hari, occasionally wiping his eyes with his tatty jumper sleeve.
“W-why didn’t you tell me you weren’t the Secret Keeper?” I started at the sound; it was the first voice I’d heard all night aside from Hari’s cooing and babbling.
I lifted my eyes to Remus’s; red and bloodshot, just like mine probably.
“Forgive me... we didn’t think we could trust you... Voldemort had so much he could have offered you in exchange for...” I gulped. The mistake I had made, it cost my best friend and his wife their lives and I could hardly bring my self to telling Remus.
“I went to Peter’s hiding place,” I continued, “I was supposed to check if he was still ok, but he was gone. No struggle, nothing to suggest he left against his will even... it was my idea to make him Secret Keeper...” I whispered the last bit, tears rolling down my own cheeks, landing on Hari’s little blanket.
Remus hurried next to me, wrapping his arms around me and the baby, his tears mingling with mine.
“No one blames you,Sirius. Peter, well he...”
“Talentless rat,” my voice filled with anger suddenly, burning and smoking just like the Potters’ cottage... “Must have been his proudest moment, selling out his friends and their baby son...” I sobbed drily. “Lily was pregnant again... she and James told me last week, while you were recovering from the moon. They were going to tell you, once you were better and... and...” I trailed off. I didn’t want to stop talking, not when there we’re still so many truths wanting to get out, squirming and rioting in my stomach. I wanted to let them all out, to talk and talk until this was all a distant memory. But Remus’s eyes. His eyes were wide and they had stopped leaking. They were staring at me and for a second — perhaps it was my own paranoid mind, perhaps I imagined the contempt — he did blame me.
I think he was going to say something else before the fire had glowered iridescent green. We both took out our wands and and stood abruptly, Remus in front of me, me covering Hari. Ready for the worst.
A purple wizard’s hat, followed by a great mass of flowing silver-white hair which hid a benevolent old face and then the rest of the purple clad body. Dumbledore.
"I thought I might find you all here." His voice, a seemingly perpetual tone of casual amusement, irked me. My best friends were dead and he had the nerve to stand in my house and tell me, matter-of-factly, he knew he'd find me here? "I'd asked Hagrid earlier tonight to bring young Hari to me," he said, sitting, uninvited, on the nearest armchair. I was shooting daggers at him, but he seemed not to care, looking only between Remus and the baby I held. "But by the time he got there, the baby was gone, taken, the locals told him, by a man in a leather jacket and a flying motorbike... I knew, instantly of course, that his godfather must have taken him to safety."
I shifted my feet uncomfortably and redistributed Hari's weight in my arms. Why was Dumbledore here? What did he want?
I looked at Remus, who was in turn looking at Dumbledore, who was finally looking at me.
"I'm not sorry," i said, chin lifted in the airin defiance, daring him to make me apologise for having gone against his will.
"No one is asking you to be bu--"
"And I am not giving him to you."
My interuption was punished by silence, broken only by a dry cough from Remus. Dumbledore's eyes, bright moonstone, penetrating to the depths of my soul...
"Sirius, from what I gather, as Hari's guardian, you wannt what is best for him. However, you do not seem to have the full measure of things," Dumbledor was now making a dome with his hands, leaning forward on his seat. "I have good reason to believe thathis mother's sacrifice, Lily'sbloodshed for her son, has formed an unpenetrable protection on Hari. This is little understood magic, magic which is the sole reason Hari got away from Voldemort's attack with only a scar."
It was his turn to shoot me daggers; he most likely didnt mean it, but his gaze made me want to run and run. I didn't want to hear about what really happened, I'd seen enough, endured enought, I did not want anymore.
But he did not care, he kept talking, telling me everything, feeding me more and more dark, worm like truths.
"This is why i believe Hari needs to live with his aunt and uncle, blood relations of Lily's." I stared.
"WHAT?!" I bellowed, unable to control the sudden influx of anger bubbling over the surface. Hari woke at the sound, fussing and sqirming. remus made to take him from my grip, but I pushed him away, making him nearly-stumble back, eyes wide.
I rocked the baby slowly, allowing him to ease back to sleep.
Instead, I took to a menacing whisper; "You mean to send him to live with Muggles? People who dont even know him? Did you know Lily never wanted him to meet Petunia and..." I struggled for a name, "Whats-his-face? You want to send him to a place where, perhaps for most of his life, he won't know who he is or where he came from? A-and can't ypu imagine what that'd do to him? That no one will have bothered to tell him about his parents?" I panted as if I had shouted; I said all of that in one angry breath.
"I suppose I'm an easier book to read than I imagined." He was wiping his glasses with the hem of his amethyst robes and, my, did I want to throw stones at him just then, to watch him and his stupid, calm face, shatter into a million pieces, leaving only his delicate, half-moon glasses.
"I'm his godfather. I was the one James and Lily appointed as his guardian if they..." I couldn't say it. Maybe tomorrow could wake up, take some Fire Whiskey down to drink with James as we laugh loudly, like we did in schoool, before the war, laugh about the pathetic dream I'm having...
"Isn't... isn't there some magic in that?" I pleaded, finally defeated perhaps. Dumbledore paced the room twice round, Remus' eyes on him the whole time while i closed mine and imagined James grin, full of laughter and love and... life.
"Perhaps... But more than anything, I think I am to trust the Potters' judgement and their own trust in you, for now. I will decide if this is really a good choice after I have gathered enough information. Until then, you are not to leave this house under any circumstances. Not until I have good reason to believe he will be magically protected from teh Death Eaters out to avenge their fallen Master. And, I am also to understand, given that you are both here, that Peter Pettigrew was the spy the Order had so many whispers about, correct? You are not to search for him either, as I am sure you might be tempted to."
Remus and I just nodded deftly. I could not have cared less about this sentence at Grimmauld Place, though the fleeting urge to go after Peter, to throttle him and rip him limb from limb, did possess me for seconds. But Hari was just so much more important to me, and every second with him was precious, like little glittering pearls gathering in my hands.
"That concludes my bussiness here, and my welcome has been long over stayed, so I shall leave you to it." He Dissaparated.
The next moments all blurred into one,and i cannot say how, by sunrise; the pale greenish orange promisisng a cold, summer's morning, we found ourselves laying in the guest bed, Hari between us, still fast asleep. The both of us staring into space, our pillows damp and salty.
Despite the growing sunlight, Sleep's teder fingers caught up to me...
[A/N: gods this one was long, im sorry it took so long to post, ill try to be faster with chapter 3 (which mind you is longer still than this). i hope dumbledore moral ambiguity shows, dont worry if it doesnt, it really will further on. hope you enjoy and thanx for reading!!]

Think About What I Said
part 18 of So Happy Together
17: https://mysteryofren.tumblr.com/post/617193359827664896/tomorrow-is-another-day
Note: ive spent all day making star wars themed food and desserts! now its time for your treat here kids!
The next morning you felt sick. You would have to see them. At least after today you wouldn't see either of them for a week. You listened as your alarm rang out. You stayed in bed staring at the ceiling. Listening to it blare. Elaine got up, and turned the light on. She looked at you while you stayed still.
“Are you going to tell me about what happened with Rey?” she asked while going over to you.
“Soon. I still can't wrap my head around it.”
“Did she at least tell you what was happening with them?”
“She thinks there's someone else.”
“What a fucking dog. Someone else on top of you two? What could possibly be wrong with him.”
“El…” you said hoping she would catch on.
“What?” she asked while she laid next to you to comfort you.
“It's me.” she wasn't saying anything. Why wasn't she saying anything?
“That night. The night of your game a lot of things happened.” you explained holding back tears.
“You're not with him are you?”
“No, he wanted to cheat on Rey with me. I can't be someone's second choice El I just can't.”
“I know. You shouldn't have to be. You should never be. You deserve to be with someone who loves you and wants to give you the world. What did you and him do that night?”
“We practically made out in my car. He told me he needed me. I ignored him. I've been ignoring him since then. He texts me everyday to apologize and ask me to talk to him, but I just can't hear it.”
Your second alarm went off. Elaine turned it off and got up. “C’mon.”
She held out her hand and you took it. She helped you up, and looked at you.
“You don't need him. I know it's hard. You never liked someone like you liked him, but you’ll feel this again. One day you will find a nice man who loves you. You'll love him too. You two will fall in love, and have a fairytale wedding. You'll have beautiful kids. Then one day they'll ask about your first heartbreak. Then you’ll tell them about Ben, and it wont even hurt.” she was right.
“I love you.” you whispered to her. She hugged you, and you hugged her back. She always knew what to say. She knew what you needed to hear. Once you two let go of eachother you both got ready quickly. You both talked about what she did with Matt the night before heading out the door. They just played video games like they always did, but you still loved hearing about it.
You walked out the door together and walked over to the main school building. Once inside you both said your goodbyes, and went your separate ways. First period always went by in a breeze. It was english a subject you liked, and on top of it Phasma was there with you. Once you arrived Ms.Sloane informed everyone what their spring break reading assignment would be. You had to read the entirety of The Tempest by William Shakespeare. It wasn't a long play so it wasn't that bad. Apparently it was going to be the spring play so she wanted everyone to know it, or at least some of it.
Phasma and you talked the entire period. You told her about what happened with Ben and Rey the night before, but you didn't tell her about the kiss. It's not that it wasn't good enough to talk about, because by the stars it was the most amazing thing you've ever experienced. Its that you knew if you talked about it you would start thinking about him again. You were about to go to Italy for a week, and you didnt wanna whine and moan about Ben Solo the entire time. You wanted to pretend you were worlds away from all his drama.
Sooner or later the time would come. It was 3rd period. You got there early so you could put your head down and avoid eye contact with Ben. or worse. Rey. After some time of having your head down you heard laughing. You decided to look up and see who it was, and of course it was them. They were back to holding hands, and looking happy. Too happy, you thought. They took their usual spots upfront, and you put your head back down. About 20 minutes into class there was a knock on the door. Windu opened it and a student handed him 2 notes.
“Miss Kenobi;” he called out. You stood up and looked at him. “It seems your grandfather is here to take you home for the day.”
Huh. that's weird. He was supposed to be getting you at 2 it's only 10:30. You packed your bag quickly.
“And Mr. Solo. it seems you are wanted in your uncle's office.”  you walked towards the door when you heard Windu call out to you.
“Have a fun trip to Italy Miss Kenobi I'll see you when we return.”
“Thank you Mr.Windu.” you said before quickly ducking out trying to avoid Ben. you practically ran once you walked out the door. You were sure he wasn't far behind you, but just in case you picked up speed. Once you reached the office you stopped for a moment to collect your breath. You opened the doors, and stepped in. you made your way to the office where you saw Luke and your grandpa talking.
“Ahh Miss Y/N, I was hoping I could see you before you left.” shit. What was this about. You ran through anything that you could have done to get in trouble. You nodded at him, and he motioned you to follow him. Your grandfather stretched his arms towards your bag and took it for you while you talked to him. You followed behind Luke and you both made your way into his office.
“So,” he began. “I've got a few problems, Y/N.”
“Like what, sir?” you asked with shaking breath.
“Don't worry kid you're not in trouble. Someone is Though.” shit. What was this about?
“I'm not following you sir.”
“You see. I have a bunch of students complaining about screaming between a few students. I've always got a hole in the wall of one of my dorm rooms.” OH THANK THE STARS YOU REALLY WEREN'T IN TROUBLE.
“Oh. Yes, I know what you’re talking about now.”
“So, I have Rey's story. Ben is going to give me his story. I just need yours.”
“I apologize, but why do you think i'm involved?”
“Rey said you went in her dorm after they got in a fight. she also said you helped her.”
“Well, there's not much to tell. I heard a bang then some yelling. I got worried that someone was hurt, so I ran over.”
“When you saw that nobody was hurt why didn't you just go back to your room? You could have gone back to studying, or hanging out, but instead not only did you talk to Ben. You got Rey out, and talked to her.”
“I'm not sure what you're trying to imply.” ok just act stupid and deny, deny, deny.
“Listen, our families have known each other a long time. I've seen how Rey treats you. I know how badly Ben hurt you. What I'm asking is. Why is it that you helped them? You could have pretended like nothing was happening, but instead you chose to step in and stop the situation from escalating.” Was he really asking why you helped? And did you really not know the answer?
“I guess i'm an idiot. I know they hurt me. I know it will happen again. I just was worried about them and I went over.”
“You're not an idiot. You're just kind hearted.” you weren't sure how to respond. You both sat in silence for a few seconds before he broke it.
“Tell me Y/N, what college are you planning on going to?”
“The Pratt Institute.”
“I'm very grateful for everything you've done for my nephews. When you apply to Pratt. I assume you will need a letter of recommendation.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Once you're ready to send the application. I would very much like to write one for you.”
“That's very kind, but I don't want you to feel obligated.”
“It wouldn't be an obligation. It would be an honor.” is it appropriate to cry in front of your principle?
“Thank you so much, Luke. you have no idea how much that means to me.”
“It's no problem. Now let's get you out of here so you and your grandfather can start your vacation.” he walked you out of the office, and down the hall. You saw your grandfather sitting with Ben. They were whispering about something. As you and Luke walked into the waiting area Ben looked up at you. He stood and smiled at you. You turned your attention to your grandfather.
“Are we ready to go?” you asked him.
“Yes, I thought I would pick you up early so you could spend some time with Gideon before we left.” you grabbed your bag from him and turned to leave when you heard him say something. It wasn't to you though.
“Think about what I said, Ben.”
“I will, sir, thank you.” Ben sounded so happy it made you sick.you still loved him. You just knew ignoring him would be the best choice in the long run.
You and your grandfather walked out. He went to your dorm with you, and helped you gather your bags. You wrote a small note for Elaine telling her you would miss her, and wishing her luck on both her date, and her NYU tour. You grabbed your camera and headed to the car. It took everything in you not to ask him what he had talked about with Ben. Did he give him advice on what to do about him and Reys situation? You tried shoving the thought of him to the back of your head. You found yourself doing a lot of that these days. It seemed like no matter how hard you tried he always weaseled his way back into your mind. You decided to try talking to your grandpa to try and keep your mind occupied. You both talked about the trip and what you both were looking forward to doing. He told you about the hotels you would be staying at. You were excited. A change of scenery could help you tremendously. You remembered something all of a sudden.
“Do you think we can stop somewhere for breakfast? It's a bit far out, but I've wanted to go for a while.”
“Of course do you know where it is?” you handed him a piece of paper and he looked at it.
“This is 2 hours away. What if we head there before the flight so we can go to the airport after.”
“Sounds good to me. you both eventually got to his house. You greeted Gideon at the door, and took him outback to play a bit. Your grandfather sat outside with you spending your time talk, and playing with Gideon. He loved that dog as much as you did. Part of you is glad he got Gideon, not just for you, but for him. Ever since mamas passing hes been alone, and the thought killed you. Now that Gideon was around there was always someone there for him. Someone to talk to. Someone to mess around with. Someone to come home to. you told him that too. you wanted him to know how much you love Gideon, because of what he does for your grandfather.
it felt like you two had been talking for a few minutes. in reality it had been hours. It was time to go. Time to start a new adventure. First though, there was someone you had to see. You packed the car with his bags, and he started driving to the city. A few hours later he parked in front of the small strip mall.
“How did you find this place?” he asked.
“A friend works here.” you got out of the car and waited for him to follow after you.
The smell of coffee was the first thing that got your attention. You weren't really a coffee drinker, but it smelled heavenly. You walked over to the small display case that held baked goods. You could tell it was all fresh as it was fogging up the glass a bit. The cafe wasn't too full, but it had a few people at tables. You could tell they probably came here to work. You looked up at the drink menu with your grandfather next to you. A few seconds went by before a familiar face walked out from the back room.
“Sorry about that, I just had some stuff come out of the oven.” she said while redoing the knot on her apron.
“It's alright.” you replied. She looked up and smiled at you.
“Y/N it's so good to see you again!” she walked around the counter and gave you a hug.
“Pop pop remember Amilyn? She's the woman who helped me that night after the dinner at the Skywalkers.” he took her hand and shook it.
“Thank you so much for helping her. I have no idea what I would've done had something happened to her.” she shook his hand back.
“It's no problem. You have an amazing daughter, sir.”
“Oh she's actually my granddaughter.”
“Either way she's very sweet. Now what can I get you guys.” She took your orders and made them. When she was done she called someone from the back and asked them to watch the register. She grabbed a few cookies from the case, and walked with you and your grandfather to a table. She sat down with you both, and you all talked for about an hour before it was time for you guys to leave. She sent you guys with a few snacks for the flight. You thanked her and both you and your grandfather hugged her before leaving. You walked out and your grandfather automatically asked you to remind him to tell his employees about her shop. Part of you wanted to visit because you hadn't gotten the chance to go. Another part of you wanted to visit, because you knew bringing your grandpa would bring her a lot more business since your grandfather was guaranteed to tell all his friends about it. It sounded weird, but you know small businesses don't tend to do so well for long. You knew if he told his friends they would try it, and then tell their friends. It wasn't much of a thank you, but you knew there was nothing rich people loved more than supporting local businesses for popularity. If anyone deserves it it's her.
You both arrived at the airport. There was only about an hour before departure. You guys rushed to your gate with your bags in hand. By the time you made it to the boarding area there was about 10 minutes left. You guys sat and waited. You sent out a final text to the first order letting them know you were about to board. You sat there anxiously waiting to get on. Finally they had called your flight number. You and your grandfather got on and went to your seats. This was going to be the best week ever.

on lukes moment of weakness and how it is fitting for luke  among other comments
Personally I TOTALLY believe that George's Luke would have been VERY similarly to Rian's Luke.
And here is the reason why.... Luke has almost always been George's insert (lucas pronunced luke S )  and it makes total sense for Luke to be "exiled" and secluded away just as George became with Star Wars after the backlash of the prequels. But at the end of it, he comes back and stands up for what makes Star Wars what it is. Which is what Luke does for the Jedi and themes of Star Wars by the end of TLJ. He has learned from his mistakes, atoned for them, found redemption, confronted those he has failed, inspired hope, and learned to show compassion once again.
Now while George may have done it differently, I do believe that Luke being in exile was a metaphor for George's own relationship with Star Wars and its fandom.
www . reddit . com/r/StarWars/comments/ebb4f3/lukes_momentaneous_thought_of_killing_ben_solo/
I know I'm stepping on dangerous territory here by talking about The Last Jedi, and I only do this because I think this is an interesting take on a key moment of the movie. Just bear in mind that I do not intend to make my point-of-view the absolute truth of it. After all, this is just my opinion.
We all know very well how divisive Episode VIII was, with many people pationately hating that movie. One of the main reasons of complaint is the fact Luke Skywalker had attempted to kill his apprentice and nephew, Ben Solo, because he sensed the Dark Side to be too strong in the latter. Luke Skywalker, the only person in the entire galaxy that saw there was still light in Darth Vader, tried to kill his relative. When even Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda had lost all hope Anakin could be saved, Luke helped putting him on the path of redemption, helping Vader turn back to the Light and fulfill the prophecy of the Chosen One. It seems to be an insult that this same character gave up on his nephew so easily and tried to kill him.
I believe things must be analyzed more carefully.
I've just finished marathoning the Skywalker Saga (by the way, I STRONGLY recommend the Ersnt Rister order: IV-V-I-II-III-VI) and noticed something very interesting while watching Return Of The Jedi.
During the final moments of Luke and Vader's duel aboard the Death Star II, we see the young Jedi Knight wants to avoid fighting his father so as not to fall in the trecharous web of Palpatine, who wants to turn the young Skywalker to the Dark Side. Luke is hiding beneath the Emperor's throne. Vader chases him and, through the Force, reads Luke's thoughts to lure him into confrontation:
You cannot hide forever, Luke. Give yourself to the Dark Side. It is the only way you can save your friends. Yes, your thoughts betray you. Your feelings for them are strong. Especially for... sister! So, you have a twin sister!
In this moment, we see Luke's face and he's completely terrified by the idea Darth Vader found out about his sister. It is something new and Luke fears for Leia's well-being. Also, we hear from Vader's words that he cares a lot about his friends, the people he loves. Vader continues:
Your feelings have now betrayed her too. Obi-Wan was wise to hide her from me. Now his failure is complete. If you will not turn to the Dark Side, THEN PERHAPS SHE WILL!
Now we have something different. Since he was brought before the Emperor, Luke had been constatly confronted by Palpatine and Vader with the idea of him turning to the Dark Side. When Vader talks about the possibility of that happening to Leia, it's not a threat directed to him, but to someone he loves. In this moment, Luke loses it completly and attacks Vader viciously, totally enraged. The Sith Lord can't stand the power of his son, fuelled by hate and falls to the ground, defeated. In this moment Luke is prepared to make the final blow, but then he hears Palpatine laughing and clapping. This makes him go back to his senses and realize what he's been doing. He then turns off his lightsaber and refuses to kill his father.
"I'm a Jedi, like my father before me" and so on... we know what happens, so let's fast-forward to The Last Jedi.
When Luke is confronted by Rey, who demands him to tell what had happened between him and Kylo Ren, we learn how things unfolded through Luke's perspective:
I saw darkness. I sensed it building in him. I'd seen it in moments during his training. But then I looked inside, and it was beyond what I ever imagined.
In this moment of the flashback we see Luke's hand reaching out to his lightsaber, almost unconsciously. He then proceeds:
. He would bring destruction and pain and death, AND THE END OF EVERYTHING I LOVE BECAUSE OF WHAT HE WILL BECOME, AND FOR THE BRIEFEST MOMENT OF PURE INSTINCT, I THOUGHT I COULD STOP IT.
Here it is again. Like in Episode VI, we see Luke reacting in a similar way by the notion of something posing a threat not to him, but to the people he loves and cares about. Luke feared Ben would destroy everything he cherished, just like Vader had threatened by turning Leia to the dark. And, just like in the OT, it was a passing shadow:
It passed like a fleeting shadow, and I was left with shame and with consequence. And the last thing I saw were the eyes of a frightened boy whose Master had failed him.
I've already written way more than I expected, so I'll just conclude here. I've realized the act Luke commits in the Sequels is the same (or at least VERY similar) as from the OT: he attempted to kill Vader then his nephew, out of fear of seeing what/who he loved destroyed. He repented and managed to stop himself in the act in both situations. And he was ashamed. So, at least regarding this point of the movie, I see the same Luke Skywalker.
(luke had more to lose now then he did before
another example which I saw dont remember where I saw it  but I saved the comments unfortunately I didnt put in the links:
edit: (now I remember www . reddit . com/r/StarWars/comments/9a3hdl/)
Luke considered killing Ben for about two seconds in a vulnerable moment
Sort of like he almost got baited into killing Vader by a few mocking words, and cut the hand off his own father in blind rage.
Luke is still just a person. If we've learned anything in Star Wars it's that the Jedi are not superhuman paragons of virtue and perfection, no matter how they might appear to the unwashed masses in the SW universe. They have the same flaws, temptations, failures, etc as anyone else. Yes the Force can help them overcome some of this, but they're far from perfect. Luke could have, and I agree should have grown in a positive way, but it's not impossible or even unbelievable that he didn't. He just had his life's labor wiped out in front of him and blamed himself for it. All those years of finding lost Jedi knowledge and artifacts, being what he believed to be the last Jedi in the universe with the responsibility to restart the order on his shoulders alone. All those lives that he took under his protection and guidance as the Master of the new order, wiped out in one night. Because of him (at least in his mind). Everything he was working towards for years just totally undone in a few hours and it was all his fault.
So he leaves and says fuck the whole lot of it. He lives by himself, stews in his misery and regret, retreats into himself and rejects the most foundational principle of the whole concept of being a Jedi: to help people. He's the most powerful Force user alive and he's wasting away by himself on some desolate rock, swearing off the rest of the galaxy because he thinks that he's a failure, that he wasn't strong or good enough, that he can't win, that it's not even worth it to try anymore, and that even at the height of his wisdom and power, it was all undone, and by himself no less.
another comment
Stuff has changed, I mean he’s quicker to come to his senses. I wouldn’t call that his flaw though. His flaw is one of his greatest traits, his care for his friends and family. It’s a flaw cause it causes implusive actions, lashing out on Vader, leaving Yoda, a single thought that he could stop a horrible fate in Ben.
I personal struggle with a temptation in my life, a temptation to do something my faith says is wrong to do. I may have overcome it some days, but other days, whether the same circumstances or not, I might fall into it. Temptations are a constant battle, not a one and done thing. Flaws are similar, you don’t just grow past a flaw after one instance.
Because a day may come when you will brought face-to-face with that temptation or flaw again, but the circumstances will be different, and it won’t be so easy to overcome.
You mentioned Toy Story in a post, and that’s a decent example when it comes to one facet. Woody might not get jealous when another flashy toy comes along that gets more attention like Buzz did.
A better example of the nagging of a temptation, like Luke dealt with, is in Lord of the Rings. The Ring is a constant temptation to the bearer and those around them. At least by the film, Frodo may have resisted the urge to use it under the tree, but he still was tempted to use it at other times, and it was a constant battle. Same with Bilbo. Bilbo held the ring for 60 years. And the temptation of it held him greatly. He drops the Ring in Bag End, letting it go. If he was viewed similarly to how people viewed Luke tossing the saber, that’d mean he freed himself from it’s grasp and from the temptation to take and use it. We see in Rivendell that isn’t the case for him. He has a moment of wanting to take it back, and even at the end of his time in Middle Earth, he inquires about it, although more innocently curious.
That would be more similar to Luke’s case. To fall to the dark is a constant temptation that Jedi should always be aware of, and if you get close at one point, there’s the possibility that it’ll happen again, and if you aren’t prepared or it comes in a different form, you’ll either fall or get really close.
That turned out longer than I meant it, but I see this idea and..it’s just not the case.
another comment
Just because you get older doesn't mean you necessarily get wiser and better.
Jedi are still people (and some aliens, but you get the meaning), and the prequels (and even the OT) showed that even the oldest and wisest among the Jedi were capable of mistakes and misjudgments.
I think it's unreasonable to assume Luke should have become incapable of making, or even repeating mistakes and succumbing to emotion.
Right because people only get better as they get older and we grow past our flaws and doubts permanently right?
You guys are weird.
Luke overcame that moment of doubt before he almost struck Vader down and you think what ....... Luke got some kind of videogame like powerup where that character flaw would never come back again?
Some of you have a very black and white (boring) opinion on life and human growth.
Spoiler: People have flaws, we don't all overcome those flaws.Your boy Luke is no exception.
Consider what nearly proved to be his downfall in Return of the Jedi: for all the Emperor's taunting about the Rebel Alliance's imminent demise, it was Darth Vader who finally pushed his Berserk Button by discovering that Leia was his twin sister and suggesting that if Luke didn't change sides, he and his master might have better luck turning her. Then, when Luke went berserk, it totally worked: he curb-stomped Darth Vader and still didn't go evil in the end. His father's killing off the Emperor also put an end to a whole lot of the Empire's evil and birthed the New Republic.
Flash forward thirty years, and once again someone is threatening everyone and everything Luke loves, and killing the guy would surely preempt a whole lot of trouble. In his heart of hearts, he doubtless remembers what Yoda taught him about how easy and seductive the Dark Side is, but he also remembers how Yoda's mistake of hiding the truth about his lineage from him nearly brought his downfall. He also remembers how killing the Emperor solved so many problems the way he'd better not try to solve them this time... Well, what's so tempting about that?
Luke had more to lose at this time. He knew what a relatively free, peaceful Galaxy looked like, and had other students to care for besides Ben. Instinctively, he was acting out of concern for them. Luke makes an important point when he gives Rey the truth: it is a split second. Luke is a hero, but he's human. He was impulsive and acted on instinct in his youth, so the fear of Ben turning is enough to push him to the edge for a second.

An Analysis on Sentients
cuz why not, they’re my favorite bad guy faction cuz they’re so alien and interesting. granted some of the shit we find out sorta demystifies them, but i still like em
so back in the very start, a given Archimedian, which i think is an Orokin term for scientist, named Perintol created a type of terraforming machine, its base form was a black star-shaped entity, no bigger than a hand. it looked rather simple, seamless, and matte. its insides looked gelatinous and glossy. its designed with the ability to change its physical properties on a level microscopic if not molecular. this would be useful because they were to be used to reach and Terraform Tau, the journey to which is described as perilous.
the Terraforming Machines would collectively travel the path, adapting and propogating environment around them as they go, with the specific purpose of not only making the Tau system habitable for the Orokin, or rather, the humans, but they would also build an interstellar rail with which the humans would travel to Tau.
based on the Mag Prime lore, we know that the Terraforming Machines at least finished the interstellar rail. and the Terraforming machines adapted to such an extent that they evolved...and they evolved to such an extent that they literally became sentient, self aware, thinking machines.
and whats especially remarkable is the fact that they are, in some odd form, alive. they went from being dynamic adaptive machines to thinking and living machines, quite comparable to the potential positive outcome of the Geth in Mass Effect 3.
the machinery that makes Sentients function is exactly the same as when they were simple Terraforming machines, the only difference is the forms they take. they are physically diverse and regulated by a unique life force. considering the terminology Hunhow uses, each distinct unit is considered a piece of a full Sentient body. but at the same time, that body is commanded as though the individual units are drones and thus require direction by a host or “regent” of sorts.
every Sentient unit is linked to a regent. and every regent is linked to a singular master regent, which im assuming is the Sentient Mother that Natah mentions. Hunhow is the regent to all that comprises his body, including Natah, who is a regent herself. because of this, he can invade her thoughts. however because of Natah’s own regent status, i dont think her mind can be overriden indirectly, specifically indirectly. then again, it could simply require a powerful regent to perform such a thing.
its not very easy to know all the things a Sentient can possibly do, but one thing they absolutely cannot do is adapt to the properties of the Void. Archimedian Perintol put in this flaw as a safety measure, because he knew that such an adaptive machine could evolve to intelligence, which is something that the Orokin forbade. so no matter how hard they try, the Void would always compromise their structures. but whats interesting about this is that not only is the void poison to Sentients, it also makes them sterile, incapable of further propogating. for beings that can travel the Cephalon Weave(which is the digital network of the Cephalons), this is a very odd flaw to have.
so at some point during their Sentient status, they learned that the Orokin were responsible for the bad state of the Origin System, whatever that be. and they concluded that the Orokin would bring ruin to the Tau System as well, the place that the Sentients call their home. it is unknown if a prior conflict transpired, but either way, the Sentients went to war with the Orokin. its likely that they attacked first. and seeing that they now have to fight, the Sentient regents reconfigured their bodies for war.
speaking of which, thats how Sentients carry out tasks. they reconfigure themselves to be fit for such tasks; a Battalyst cannot do the things a Conculyst can. and there might be constraints to what configurations regents can conjure up. for example, there is yet no evidence suggesting that Hunhow knows how to configure Mimics or Teralysts, not to mention the form of the dead tower-size regent outside the plains. this is not to say that he is incapable of learning.
so the Sentients are at war with the Orokin. they sent their regents through the rail into the Origin System to battle, this unfortunately rendered them sterile. but they continued to slaughter the human forces. then the scales tilted in the favor of the Orokin when they unleashed the Tenno.
as revealed in The Sacrifice, Ballas had been conspiring with Hunhow, who was likely leading the other regents in the war. Hunhow knew about the secret of the Tenno. so he forms a plan to use the Tenno to destroy the Orokin, and then the Tenno. he used one of his offspring, a Mimic specialist named Natah to infiltrate the Orokin ranks, likely with help from Ballas. she is reconfigured not only in form, but identity as well. she becomes the Lotus, guide to the Tenno. she was placed somewhere in Lua.
Hunhow allowed himself and his forces to be destroyed, to give the Orokin a false sense of victory, a sense that the threat was over. considering that he could neither recover nor replace the fragments he lost due to his sterility, this was a very hefty sacrifice, even for them. his remains were sealed in a tomb in the oceans of Uranus. however he only feigned death; his life force was never completely destroyed, and there was enough living mass left of him.
System are either all destroyed or driven out back to Tau. and humanity celebrates. but Lotus, still following her original directive, gets the Tenno to kill off the Orokin for good. she was supposed to then silence the Tenno as well, but i guess her Lotus identity compromised the identity of Natah, and she betrayed her race as a consequence.
so the Lotus recalls the Tenno faction while another regent drops down on Earth to decimate Orokin establishments, resulting in a conflict with Gara and the Unum, from the telling of this story, we the players learn that Sentients are weak to sunlight and radiation, and that kuva can make sterile Sentients fertile.
this regent attempts to consume the kuva of the Unum but Gara sacrifices herself to destroy the regent’s mind. all of its body falls upon the plains, the material properties of which being altered by the terraforming attributes of the pieces.
even though the regent is dead, his life force is still present within the pieces of his body. a given warframe was assigned to stand guard and make sure this life force doesnt arise again, but it overwhelmed the warframe and consumed it, turning it into Revenant. and with Revenant out of the picture, the life force was free to manifest, reanimating a broken Teralyst corpse and a bunch of supporting Vomvalysts. these are ghosts...zombies...shadows of what they once were, and are thus dubbed Eidolons.
one thing that ive noted about the Teralyst variants at least is that, while they are autonamous, they are not actually aware. unlike the Teralysts, the Vomvalysts actually can attack you directly with intent. none of the Teralyst’s attacks are direct, except for homing-based ones. its a brain-dead entity swiping at flies. its able to perform its given functions, but it’s not coordinated at all. it wanders with no specific destination, and it attacks no specific target. its missing its regent. it doesnt know that, but it does feel that something is missing. compare that to the Ropalolyst, who knows what its trying to kill, who knows that it exists to watch over the gas city.
i wonder though, is it possible for one regent to claim the remnants of another. could Hunhow perhaps link up with and become a host to the wandering Eidolons? it would be an interesting idea.
so time passes and the events of the game happen. being that as a Sentient, Hunhow can configure his body parts to whatever is necessary, he forges armor and a sword for the Stalker, not only granting him Sentient abilities but also allowing Hunhow to speak to him via the sword so they can do their tenno murdering together. its implied that Hunhow’s mind is housed in the sword itself, which is peculiar since the Stalker, with Hunhow, was in the void. but also, when the warframe broke the War, Hunhow disappeared for a time.
by Octavia’s Anthem, it’s revealed that he hid within the Cephalon Weave. i find this rather odd; if it is so that his mind was completely separate from his body, then that brings Sentient meta into question. if a regent can move his mind anywhere else, even if it contradicts proximity, then there’s something to the Sentients we just dont know yet, it implies that their links are metaphysical. Hunhow, while being directly in the Weave, used a cephalon to protect his fragments...who were in the friggin Void, the interdimensional hellspace of the story...he was even able to manipulate the Weave such that he made Datalysts. its known that Sentients can control technology, but this is overpowered as hell. the whole linking aspect is one thing, but they can link to Sentients IN THE VOID FROM WARFRAME CYBERSPACE.
we know Hunhow is purged from the Weave but we currently dont know if he’s alive or dead. but Natah, that’s a weird one. she was in Lua, which she had(as Lotus) moved to the Void. we dont know if her chamber had some sort of protective aspect that kept her alive, or if Lua simply had properties that didnt follow the rules. but either way Natah, as Lotus, remained unharmed for some reason.
but more than that, she is a Mimic-based regent. her particular form was such that it could imitate the likeness of humans. now whether or not this was on a molecular level is worthy of debate, but its clear that she had the spitting image of Margulis. that is extremely efficient. what if Natah had the power to assimilate Warframes and Tenno? that would be very scary. she tricked the Tenno, Ballas, and Alad already. what more is she capable of?
well i guess she is capable of turning organic matter into Sentient matter, as evidenced by Ballas’s current state. and not only that, the Sentient part of Ballas obeys Natah’s command, and so she uses Ballas as a watcher and seeing through his eyes. Natah also partnered with Alad V to create the hybrid Amalgams, a possible future for the Sentient race, one that is unburdened by the weakness to the Void. if it isnt clear already, Sentients are dangerous.
and to add to that, the master regent, the Mother that Natah mentions, is a living ship outpost that can consume debris and probably convert it into more Sentient mass. so the Mother is not only a ship, its a factory. one of the things it has built is the Ropalolist. and it was likely through Natah’s knowledge of the Tenno and warframes that it was configured to negate warframe abilities. thats insane. whats even more insane is that the Ropalolist that we fight is only a means for Natah to assess our threat level. there are probably worse things to look forward to in Tau, such as Teralysts that ARENT Eidolons.
so to summarize, Sentients are a mistake. its a shame that the only Sentient that was on our side is now against us. unless we can unite the factions or perhaps even get Man in the Wall to help us, we’re probably fucked when The New War drops.

Annoying and Brash
.
“Sakura, come here.”
Turning to Sasuke in surprise, Sakura quickly got up from her seat to walk over to him. They hadn’t been traveling together too long, or rather long enough for Sakura but she was thankful for every moment she had with him.
Most of the time he was his old self, quiet and laid back, though not as easily annoyed. He’d spent a lot of time coming to peace with things, mostly himself and though Sakura knew he still had a way to go, she was proud of how far he’d come and any opportunity she had to compliment him, she did so.
Being outdoors with Sasuke was nice, Sakura enjoyed it. Sleeping under the stars, sitting by a fire to keep warm at night, or even walking for hours and hours. But, when he’d suggested they take a stop at the next village, get a room and enjoy the hotsprings for a day, she was elated.
They hadn’t long finished eating a hot meal prepared by the innkeepers and both of them had been just lounging around, enjoying the rest for a while. Sasuke was now rummaging through his gear as she sat on the floor next to him. It was nice to be close, but she always wanted to be closer. These days though, she wasn’t the girl she used to be.
Oh, she was still crazy about Sasuke, but on a whole other level. She had learned to respect him, by giving him the space he needed, and only speaking when it really mattered. It seemed to her that Sasuke appreciated this change in her, because he’d been changing too. With each day she knew he was opening up to her more and more.
“What is it, Sasuke-kun?” She asked with a smile.
He met her eyes then, no longer going through his bags. “Do you know what I did with the scroll we received this morning?”
Sakura frowned, wondering to herself why he had to call her over to him just to ask that. “It’s in my bag.” She explained. “You told me to put it up, remember?”
Sasuke seemed to think it over for a moment before he actually remembered. “Hn.” He watched her silently as she went to get the scroll out of her bag for him. “Thanks.” He muttered once he took it from her, but he immediately went to reading over it’s contents once more grumbling to himself about having to reply.
It was apparent to Sakura that Sasuke didn’t mind receiving news from home, and he seemed amused most of the time when Naruto would sent out of meaningless letter to them. But, he did not like getting anything that he was required to respond to and anytime that happened, he complained, but he did all his complaining to himself.
“Get ready.” He told her the instant he’d finished the reply. Sakura watched him in confusion as he went to the sliding door that led to the private spring behind their room, summoned his hawk and sent it off with the scroll.
“Ready?” She questioned when he didn’t elaborate. They shouldn’t have been leaving, they hadn’t even had the chance to soak in the springs yet.
Glancing briefly at her on his way back to his bags, he grumbled, “Aren’t we going to enjoy the hotsprings while we’re here?”
Cheeks heating in surprise, Sakura blinked at his back. She’d never thought of him joining her in the springs. No, she assumed they’d take turns... or something. But, Sasuke actually wanted to get in the springs with her, Sakura nearly fainted at the thought.
Today was her lucky day.
Certainly not about to argue with him, Sakura got up and grabbed a few items before disappearing into the bathroom. She undressed immediately and then wrapped one of the large provided towels around her body. After tying up her hair next, she wet he face with cold water in a vain attempt to cool herself down.
What if today, was actually THE DAY?
No, probably not. She’d been hopeful for far too long to be getting her hopes up and so with a sigh, she left the bathroom and walked back into the room. Sasuke was there, though still fully dressed and rummaging through his bags once more. This brought a frown to Sakura’s features, but she made no comment and instead left the room through the sliding doors to go ahead to the private spring.
The sun was just starting to set and the air was already turning chilly outside so she couldn’t wait to sink into that hot water that called to her. Well aware that Sasuke was in the room just behind her, and could see her if he was watching, she didn’t remove her towel as she stepped into the water. Once she was submerged, she tossed the towel aside and sighed. There was nothing more relaxing to her than a nice hot soak, and it had been so long that she was determined to enjoy this.
Knelt down so the water covered her to her neck, Sakura waded around in the water. All the tightness in her muscles seemed to fade away instantly and she was so lost in the warmth and comfort of the springs that she hadn’t heard the door slide open behind her, but she did hear it close.
Turning around to look, she blushed ten shades of red when she noticed Sasuke there in nothing but a towel that he held in place around his waist. Her heart skipped several beats at the sight of him. He looked good enough to eat, but she still forced herself to turn around and give him some privacy to get in the spring.
Of course they’d both keep their distance and she didn’t expect him to keep his towel on, but she didn’t want to make herself out to be an idiot, or annoying for staring at him, and possibly drooling.
She was a nervous wreck as she heard him finally get in the water behind her and she still just couldn’t turn to look at him, for fear of losing herself. She loved him so much- and she wanted him as much as was humanly possible, but she didn’t want to be like she used to be.
“Is the water too hot for you?” Sasuke asked, startling her because he was right behind her. “You’re already red.”
It wasn’t the water, but she wasn’t sure she could admit that to him as she turned to face him hesitantly. “No, it’s f-fine. I’m fine!” She assured him, forcing out a laugh that sounded anything but natural.
Sasuke raised a brow, but made no further comments as he stared at her. Those eyes on her only made the heat she already felt expand until she was short of breath and praying she didn’t do anything to humiliate herself. Though, she was already embarrassed for how she was acting.
Needing to distance herself, and hoping that would help her to relax, she waded off away from him. He was covered to his neck in the water just as she was, but just being in the spring with him had her hot and bothered in too many ways.
“Well... It’s nice here.” She laughed nervously, her back to him. Making small talk wasn’t something she did often these days but she just couldn’t help herself. She had to do something to diffuse her racing heart.
“Hn.”
She glared at the rocks in front of her, angry that he couldn’t entertain her with at least a few words but then she sighed, a soft smile gracing her lips. That was Sasuke, she supposed... she should have been used to it by now, but sometimes she still hoped for a little more.
Neither of them spoke for a while, and Sakura didn’t dare to turn back to face him, even as she moved around in the water she made sure to keep her eyes anywhere but in his direction and she couldn’t be sure, but she would swear she felt his eyes on her the whole time. Either way, he wasn’t saying anything and she couldn’t think of anything else to say that wouldn’t make her seem like a babbling idiot, so she remained quiet herself.
It was peaceful, relaxing- and after some time, she did calm down. Sasuke wasn’t a man to make any sudden moves and she knew things would be moving slowly between them, so she tried not to think about what could happen, and instead focus on what actually was happening. She was with Sasuke, he’d brought her along on his traveling, just as he’d promised. This time was precious to her, it didn’t matter if he never said he loved her, if he never touched her aside from a poke to her forehead on occasion, or even if he didn’t speak much at all.
This was nice and she would enjoy the slow pace of their relationship- if it could be called a relationship... no, she was sure they had something special. She’d felt it since the moment he’d left the village after that simple, heartfelt promise. She’ s known he’d changed ever since he apologized to her after his and Naruto’s fight after the war.
Sasuke was trying. In the smallest of ways, he was leaving his past behind and moving forward, and he was doing it with her. To some, that might not seem like much, but to Sakura... it was everything.
“Sakura?” He called to her, disturbing her train of thoughts, though mostly because he was right behind her again.
She whirled around in surprise, emerald eyes wide as she looked to him, barely a few inches from her. With a squeak, she backed away a few steps, highly aware of her nakedness, and his as well. His eyes narrowed on her when she moved away like that, as if he didn’t take to kindly to her reaction.
“Does it bother you that much... for me to be here with you?”
Gaping at him, Sakura’s mouth opened to deny it, but she found that she couldn’t speak. His words hit her like a ton of bricks, because he wasn’t saying them like she was bothered as she was, no he meant them as if his presence alone bothered her. As if she didn’t want him around, and that wasn’t how she felt at all.
“I’ll go then.” He told her when she didn’t respond, taking her silence as an affirmative.
“No, wait!” She stopped him by reaching out and grabbing a hold of his hand. Thankfully, she didn’t accidentally grab anything else. She was blushing up to her ears when he glanced back at her. “It doesn’t bother me... not like you think it does.”
“Oh?” He turned back to face her and just as she went to release his hand, he took hers in his instead. “Then what’s the problem?”
Sakura sighed, unable to believe Sasuke could really be that dense. Maybe he was just trying to feign ignorance, and she thought that to make more sense. But, she still couldn’t be sure. He was hard to understand and it often made things difficult for her, but she really didn’t mind. She loved Sasuke for everything he was, and even everything he wasn’t.
“Scared I’ll see you naked?” He smirked after a moment, and she paled. He’d hit the nail on the head, and the way he smirked about it did strange things to her body. Things she liked but wasn’t used to. “That’s it then?” He shook his head at this, his smirk only growing stronger. “It really shouldn’t bother you.”
Sakura blinked rapidly at him then he tugged her hand and pulled her flush against him, their unclothed bodies coming into contact for the first time. It had been so unexpected that Sakura could say nothing, she couldn’t even think. The feel of their hot skin on each other was so electric, even in the heat, she shivered.
“I’ve seen it all before.” He admitted, only adding to the blush staining her cheeks. How, or when she had no idea, but there was no way she could question him. She didn’t think she had a voice anymore. “I am a man, you know... If it’s within sight, I’m going to look.”
“Whaaaa-?” Sakura wiggled in his arms, on the verge of fainting. She couldn’t believe he would even say such a thing, much less believe those words. When was her naked body within his sight? She was so caught up in the moment that she couldn’t think, or question him about it.
Sasuke’s lone hand slowly pulled away from her back and instead came to cradle her cheek. He looked into her eyes with a tender look she’d never seen before, a look that pulled at her heartstrings and made her already shallow breathing become more labored.
He was so close... too close for her heart to handle and yet not as close as she would have liked. Was he going to kiss her? He sure looked like it, with the way he stared into her eyes so heatedly, the way his hand cradled her cheek- not to mention the fact that those very lips she’d dreamt about kissing her were only a few inches away.
That was it, she couldn’t help herself and there was no going back as she lifted her arms and wrapped them around his neck and closed the distance between them, sealing her lips against his.
For it to have been a moment she dreamed about her entire life, there was nothing that could have prepared her for this actual moment. To taste those lips. To feel them move against her own. To hear the low groan rumble from his chest at the contact. She was lost, she was so far gone and blissed out that Kami could have taken her right then and damn it, she’d have been happy.
She wasn’t thinking when she went for the kiss, it was so sudden, an instinct really- but she wasn’t one to go crazy like this, kissing him like her life depended on it, like she’d known exactly what she was doing. However, the longer she kissed him, and the more he responded to her lips, the more she got into it. She couldn’t stop, too enraptured by this moment, by the feel of that hard body against hers, by the strong way he kissed her back, fingers digging against her scalp.
As if things hadn’t been steamy enough out there, the heat only intensified with each touch of their lips, with each slight brush of tongues. Time had seemed to stop for them, only picking back up again when Sasuke broke the kiss. Sakura whimpered a protest but she was panting and desperately trying to catch her breath. Sasuke was in no better shape than she.
“Sasuke...kun.” She breathed, hooded eyes gazing at him with adoration.
Sasuke stared back at her, both his sharingan and rinnegan taking her in. She was mesmerized by that gaze. She’d never told him before but those eyes, she loved. Well, she loved everything about him, but there was something about those eyes that drew her in and made her never want to look away.
Suddenly she felt dizzy, overwhelmed with emotion. Did that kiss really even happen, was he naked and seriously right against her, letting her truly feel him for the first time and whoa- when did her legs end up wrapped around his waist and why was she just noticing everything? How could she ever be distracted enough not to notice his member pressing against her bottom, that wasn’t even possible, and yet... here she was, just noticing it.
She was just willing herself not to faint then and there when he pulled his hand away slowly and then easily forced her legs from around him, turning away from her the instant he was free.
“Sasuke-kun?” She whispered behind him, in shock from their actions and even more-so by the fact that he was scurrying out of the water as if it scalded him.
“That shouldn’t have happened.” He grumbled once he was out of the spring. He’d moved so fast that he was standing there, watching her, his towel wrapped around his waist and she hadn’t even seen him step out.
Those words hurt, she was wounded and ashamed and outright pissed that he could even say that. “What’s that supposed to mean?” She demanded, their steamy moment forgotten. Now she just glared at him as he watched her thoughtfully before turning away.
“Just what I said.”
And with those words, he left her alone and returned into the room.
Sakura was so angry, nearly destroyed. Did that mean that he wasn’t interested in her after all? Was he annoyed that she’d come onto him so strongly... but then, it didn’t make any sense. She’d never been really kissed before, but she could still tell that he was responding well enough. He kissed her back with a desperation she would not soon forget and that wasn’t all... His body gave him away, so he wasn’t going to deny it, he wasn’t going to make out like it was one big mistake and she was crazy for even imagining he’d want her. His earlier words were convincing enough.
She wasn’t going to let him do that to her. Refusing to let herself punch anything and demolish it, she got out of the spring herself, wrapped her towel around her body and stormed her way back into their room. He would be answering to her whether he liked it or not!
He was dressed now, lounging back on the bed with his arm behind his head. His eyes met hers when she came to stand at the end of the bed, pouting and glaring at him as if she hated his guts. At that moment, she thought it was possible. He didn’t seem to like the way she looked at him because he turned his head away, his eyes closing as if to ignore her completely.
“Put some clothes on.” He muttered before she could say anything and this affronted her. She only became more angry.
“Excuse me?” She nearly shouted, her voice raised further than she intended.
Sasuke sighed and rolled on his side as if to dismiss her completely. She only rounded the bed to stand before him, unwilling to let it go. She let a lot of things go, but this would not be one of them.
“Sakura.” He called her name as a warning and her fists clenched at her sides.
“Don’t you ‘Sakura’ me... you... you...!” Exasperated, she flung her hands around before securing them on her hips. “I can’t believe you. Really.”
It was too much for her and he anger was dissipating all too quickly, depression taking over. She was sick and tired of getting her hopes up. She was over being humiliated and hurt. With her eyes stinging, she turned away from him, deciding it would only hurt her worse if she even tried to question him. His answers would probably be too much for her to bear and so she walked away.
Biting her lip to the point of pain, she dug through her bags until she found some clean clothes and then stormed into the bathroom. That’s when her tears fell and she didn’t fight them immediately. She dressed as quickly as she could, sobbing quietly as she did but as soon as she was ready, she sucked it up, drying her tears completely before leaving the bathroom and finding her boots.
“What are you doing?” Sasuke asked quietly, though with a tone that was commanding.
Sakura ignored him as she slipped on her boots and secured them around her legs. She didn’t answer to anybody, not even him- especially not right then.
“Don’t ignore me.” He demanded, on his feet then as she walked to the door.
“I’m going out.”
“No.”
Mouth falling open as she stared at the door, unable to believe after what he did and said that she would ever sit around here with him, she actually laughed. “No?” She shook her head in her laughter. “Watch me.”
Before he could stop her, she hurried out of the room and slammed the door shut behind her. Though she doubted very seriously that he’d follow her, she still suppressed her chakra and went as quickly as she could to get out of there. She couldn’t be around him right then, she just needed some time to herself.
She soon found herself at the local tavern, drowning her sorrows in alcohol. She felt like such a fool, thinking it possible that she and Sasuke were finally about to take one huge step in their lives together. But no, that wasn’t happening. It had only been wishful thinking, just as if always had been.
She’d been the only single one out of her friends for years and most of them were even married by then and yet here she was, still chasing the most difficult man who so apparently didn’t want her. Never had. He was just being nice by letting her join him on his travels. It’s why he never made any moves, why he never spoke as if there was anything more between them. She was so miserable now that she wasn’t sure just being with him and being his friend would be enough for her anymore. She was only hurting herself.
Why couldn’t she just move on with her life? She could probably easily find a normal man who would love to have her, and not think twice about making things official with her... but then, they wouldn’t be Sasuke. Sighing in defeat, she finished what was left of her drink and groaned. The place was surprisingly busy and it would probably be forever before she could get another one. The whole universe must have been against her, she was sure.
“Need a drink?” A deep voice asked and she looked up to see the face of a man who was vaguely familiar. She raised a delicate brow when he slid into the booth across from her as if he’d been invited before handing her a fresh drink. “You’re Sakura.” He said, his hazel eyes shining as he admired her.
“How do you know me?” She asked, taking the offered drink without much thought on the matter. The guy looked familiar, but she didn’t know him. She couldn’t even be sure if he was a shinobi.
“Well, everyone knows you. But you saved my life during the war... I never got a chance to thank you personally, so thank you.”
Her mood brightening, she smiled over at him then. “There’s no need to thank me. I was just doing my job.”
“Don’t be so modest.” He said, grinning at her and surprisingly enough, even though he wasn’t Sasuke- she actually found him attractive. “Thanks to you I was able to make a full recovery. What you did for me was exceptional.”
“Oh, thanks.” Sakura blushed then, flattered by how ardently he praised her. “What’s your name?”
“Oh, forgive me. I’m Aito.” He told her, a smile still on his face as he offered her his hand.
“Well it’s nice to meet you, Aito.” She told him sweetly while shaking his hand and quickly returning to her drink.
“You’re a long way from home, what brings you to this small village? I’m actually from the Land of Lightning. I just finished a mission and stopped by here for a night to myself before returning home.”
“Oh, that’s nice... I’m on a mission as we speak, actually.” Sakura told him nonchalantly, being as vague as she could. “Though I’m starting to really miss home.”
“Really?” He sipped his drink, his eyes never leaving her. “I kind of like traveling. I want to see the world, you know?”
Sakura nodded. She understood completely and up until that night, she’d felt the same way. Especially being at Sasuke’s side, there was nothing better than traveling and seeing the world one place at a time. But now, she didn’t even want to think about Sasuke, she probably shouldn’t have come to start with. It was all a set up. She’d fallen in love with him all over again only to be crushed into dust.
He hated her... and she was starting to hate herself.
“Don’t look so down,” Aito laughed nervously. “I’m sorry. You must really be down about being so far from home.”
“I guess.” Sakura smiled and sighed. It was nice to have a normal conversation with a guy who was obviously attracted to her. He didn’t look bad, far from it and a part of her wished she didn’t love Sasuke so much. If she didn’t, she would probably make a pass at the guy herself.
But who was she kidding... she’d loved Sasuke for as long as she could remember.
The sound of someone clearing their throat shook her out of her thoughts, and she turned to see Sasuke glaring harshly, though not at her, but at Aito. Something about the look in his eyes made her nervous. Very nervous.
“Problem?” Aito asked, glaring back at Sasuke. Sakura could understand his frustration at being looked at in such a way by a stranger who’d showed up out of nowhere so suddenly, but she didn’t want the guy to make any mistakes that would lead to her healing him once again, so she knew it would be best if she calmed the rising tension.
“Get lost.” Sasuke told him coldly, his glare only intensifying.
“Are you going to make me?” Aito smirked then, as if he was completely unbothered by the threatening look Sasuke was giving him.
“Whoa!” Sakura reached out and took a hold of Sasuke’s hand that had instantly reached for his sword. “Calm down, Sasuke-kun.”
“Sasuke?” Aito questioned, brows furrowing. “As in... Uchiha Sasuke?”
Sasuke smirked then, obviously pleased with the way the guys face fell, but when Sakura pulled her hand away from his and stood, his attention was on her instead. “Forgive me, Aito. It was nice talking to you, but I must go.”
“Uh... Right.” He nodded, not even daring to look in her direction again.
Sakura paid no mind to his change in attitude as she gave Sasuke a sharp look before making her way out of the small tavern, knowing full well he was right behind her.
It was late by then, she realized as she started heading back towards the inn. Leave it to Sasuke to be sure to keep her depressed. She wasn’t interested in the guy, her heart would have never allowed it, but it was nice to have a distraction from her love crisis. Now she had no choice but to return to the inn and be around Sasuke, who only seemed to want to destroy her feelings.
She’d been walking so fast in her frustration that she made it back way ahead of him. She closed the door behind her, sighing for the umpteenth time of the night. Maybe she was over reacting to it all. This was Sasuke she was dealing with, and she’d known him for a long time. She knew him well enough to know that he wasn’t one to just act on impulses. Nothing was rushed with him. But still, she was hurt by his earlier words and saddened by the feeling of rejection he’d given her.
After taking her boots off, she started stripping on her way to the door leading to the private spring. She would escape him no matter what. She did not want to face him. She did not want to know his answers, or excuses. All she wanted was some time alone, or... some time without Sasuke. As long as he was being an ass, she didn’t want to deal with him at all.
After getting in the water, she waded to the other side and rested against the rocks, her head lolling back as she groaned in misery. Why did her life have to be so messed up? Why couldn’t she just be happy? She’d waited on Sasuke for so long, and now he was there, she was with him... and yet she still wanted more. She wasn’t supposed to act like this. She’d been disciplining herself for years and yet... she just couldn’t help how she felt.
“Sakura,” She heard him call just after the sound of the sliding door opening. With her eyes closed, she didn’t bother responding and she was not about to look at him. “Don’t make me come in there.”
“Go ahead. You don’t intimidate me.” She muttered. That wasn’t entirely true, Sasuke was the definition of intimidating, but she didn’t fear him and she wasn’t bowing down this time. Though she did wish he’d just leave her be as he would any other time.
That wasn’t going to happen she realized, hearing his clothing drop to the ground, one piece at a time. She swallowed hard, forcing her eyes to remain closed even as she heard him enter the water ahead of her. She couldn’t believe it, he was actually getting in. He was coming closer and when he finally stood before her in the water, she let her eyes finally open.
The water just came up to cover his waist and he stood tall and confident, his naked upper body making her swoon slightly. Surprisingly when she met his gaze, she found no anger there. Instead he was looking at her apologetically, but she didn’t like it so she looked away, sinking even deeper into the water until it was up to her chin.
“You’re always taking thing to the extreme.”
“Me?” She scoffed. If anybody took things to the extreme, it was him.
“That’s right.”
“Get out.”
“Fine.”
Sakura squealed in surprise when Sasuke leaned down and scooped her over his shoulder with his lone arm. She was all too aware of her nakedness then, even more-so than she’d been earlier that evening.
“What are you doing, put me down!” She was stunned, and embarrassed as she struggled against him, naked as the day she was born.
“Getting out, and no.”
“This is no way to treat a lady.” Sakura argued as he walked out of the spring with her over his shoulder. He carried her inside, his arm wrapped firmly around her thighs.
“Well you aren’t being very ladylike.”
“Oh and you’re a perfect gentleman?”
Sasuke didn’t answer, instead he slowly brought her back to her feet, sliding her body close against his the whole way and even after she was standing again, he held her naked body flush against his own. She was certain he could feel her heart pounding, and if he couldn’t, then he could definitely hear it. She stared up at him, trying desperately to ignore the feel of him against her.
“You’re making it damn hard to be.”
She rolled her eyes then, caring about the way their bodies were touching less and less by the second. “Aren’t you a little too close for your own comfort?” She hissed.
“Tch. Clueless.” He glared down at her.
“Just leave me alone.” She said, breaking away from him then. She didn’t even bother covering herself, or trying to hide her nakedness and neither did he. But they were both distracted enough not to be paying it any attention.
“No, I’ve had enough of this. You take things the wrong way and then blow them way out of proportion. Read between the damn lines for once, Sakura.”
“Read between the lines?” She muttered, glaring up at him. “Read between the lines?!”
Sasuke sighed and ran his hand through his hair in exasperation. “I shouldn’t have to spell it out.”
“Don’t bother.” She turned her nose up to him and went to walk off but he stopped her, his hand grabbing her arm firmly.
“I want you...I do.” He admitted quietly. She stiffened but didn’t turn back to him, but she didn’t snatch away from his grasp either. “It didn’t just happen, I’ve wanted you for... a while.”
“Then... why?” She whispered brokenly, so confused. On the verge of tears again, she bit her lip and tried her best to remain calm.
“It’s just... well... I want to marry you first.”
“You... wh- what...” She swooned, feeling suddenly weak in the knees and also slightly lightheaded. She was sure she’d heard him wrong, but before she could say anything more, her vision blurred and she toppled forward, losing her state of consciousness.
“Sakura... Sakura, are you okay?”
“Huh?” Groggily she woke, her eyelids fluttering open. Sasuke was right above her from where she lay in bed, his face merely inches away. “Kyaaaa!” She blushed beet red and pushed him away with such force he was slammed against the wall five feet away. “Oh no.”
Realizing what she’d done, she sprang out of bed, still in her birthday suit though she hadn’t noticed as she ran to Sasuke who was naked as well, but even that she didn’t notice as the medic in her took over. He groaned, his hand clutching the back of his head.
“I’m so sorry! Let me see.” She pulled his hand away, her brows furrowing as she moved her hands behind his head and quickly began healing the lump that was forming there.
Slowly his eyes opened to hers and looked to him apologetically, her lips set in a tight frown. “Must be something wrong with me... wanting to marry such a brute.”
Sakura’s face scrunched up and she inhaled sharply at his words. “You surprised me, and you were so close and... wait. Did you really mean that?”
“Yes, you’re a brute.” He said, wincing when she stopped healing him suddenly. She hadn’t finished the job.
“Not that!” She snapped.
Sasuke rolled his eyes. “Yes, I meant it. I want to marry you.” He growled out, averting his eyes bashfully.
With cheeks pink as her hair, a goofy grin came to Sakura’s face then. “Really?” She couldn’t believe it. It was too good to be true.
“Really. And only then will I have you. So get over it.”
“Wha-” She floundered for a moment before finally bursting into a fit of giggles.
Sasuke truly was one of a kind. Never in a million years would she have expected marriage to be on his mind, or that he’d want to marry her before taking her to bed. Surprisingly, the thought wasn’t disappointing at all. If that was what she had to wait on, she could definitely be patient. She wanted Sasuke so desperately, in every way and she finally knew that in some miraculous way, she had him.
“I think I can accept that.” She told him after a moment, though she was still grinning like an idiot as she went to finish healing the lump on the back of his head.
“Good.” Was all he said, but by then, he was grinning back at her.
