I think the essential part of the perfect nagito characterization for me is making him always sound like. the most sarcastic motherfucker ever. smarmy and high-horsey and passive aggressive af. like regina george levels of insincere flattery. except he is being 100% SINCERE (most of the time) and has NO IDEA how much of what he's saying comes off as him Being A Dick

this only makes it harder for him to make jokes because his sense of humor is so dry already that it kind of just blends into the way he naturally speaks so it just makes him even less comprehensible which is ALSO an essential part of a peak nagito characterization. make this motherfucker inscrutible

is the fact that Jim Show more emotion he wouldn't be afraid to shad a tear or two he is very emotional Person. as Someone who tend to show more emotion then most males i can relate to it. and i feel Like he is Very Special.

Claire is Probably the Darkness inside her heart , her Losing control over emotions and her hard time accepting reality. while also think the Worst things Possible is Something that i found really close to home.

That's a pretty good question! And I like you sharing your reasons for liking Jim and Claire, which are definitely some of mine too!

I can't limit my reasons for liking Strickler to one, so I'll give you my top five:

I like his complexity, he's never portrayed as black and white. He's morally grey, even when he reforms he doesn't have a complete personality change, he's still himself.

I love Strickler's dynamic with Jim. I love how they go from teacher and student, to enemies to reluctant allies, to mentor and student, then friends, and finally to family and father/son. I appriciate RoTT ONLY for consolidating their relationship a little more, and I have every reason to believe in the new timeline they'll only get closer then ever before.

I enjoy the development of Stricklake, even though it has its ups and downs because I am a shameless monster lover myself and support Barb 100%. I also appreciate that Barbara and Strickler have things to work through and it's not instantly fixed.

I like Strickler's stupid puns and sense of humour. He makes me laugh so much with his stupidness at times. (his accent does NOT help).

This is what really did it for me though: he has WINGS! As someone obsessed with dragons that was the icing on the cake for me lol.

But also, if it's after 1889 and if Dream gradually get his memory back (like first love & first betrayal of Desir (idk I didn't read the comic but I think Desir played with Dream feeling at one point), his marriage and then the death of his son (where Calliope said it's his fault))

Like, Hob and dream are talking one morning and then Dream suddenly seems to light up, his mouth open in amazement and he says to hob "Nobody has loved me enough to seek me out before but, but I remember know, someone does, my friend" then he gets up and Hob is SO confuse. His friend talk about someone he is in love with he seems so happy, he says he needs to go, he needs to find her.

(Dream power are blocked here, he can't go back go the Dreaming before getting all of his memory back)

Then he suddenly stop, joy is remplaced by pur anger and madness. He stop speaking, stop trying to get out. He just walk inside and stay 3 days in his room.

When he finally come out of his room, he acts like nothing happen. Like centuries happened in 3 days and maybe it's the case for him.

Anyway, time pass, then one day his friend smile again softly and said "I'm married, we have a son". He looks so proud, so pleased. Hob is happy for him (but a part of him wonder, if you are married, then why didn't they find you yet?)

Hob is proved right the next evening, he sees a flash of anger passing through his friend's eyes, he sees chock, he watch as his friend's hands began to tremble then he sees sorrow, so, so much sorrow.

Hob knows that one well. He doesn't need to ask, he knows

Tears floods from his friend's eyes, "He is dead, she left" is all he says.

When Hob try to take his hands Dream steps back "You said you are my friend, you said you like me, how can you when I bring nothing but doom?" but just like before memory seems to come back to him, like a wave, anger (barely hiding the sorrow under it) flash "I do not need you" and then he is gone

Hob is very sad at the moment :( he understand (now he has 100 reasons to make his stranger knows that they are friends 😤😤) but also he is worried about his friend (even if he is more mature than his "young wizard version", Hob knows how hard it can be). Meanwhile Dream goes hidding somewhere, he stays there and he get his memory back. However it's Death that makes him come out and getting back to his friend 😤

Just imagine 🥺 : Dream knocking on Hob's door, not looking at him in the eyes at first then when they do, he does his micro smile and "I apologise, my friend" Hob smiles at him with relief.

#after finally reading othello and twelfth night in the past 10 days im not sure which are the most famous plays i still havent read #bc like ive mentioned previously ive always read the plays in arbitrary order. whatever piqued my interest #hence why i read the henry vi plays relatively early on. or some of the more obscure comedies #but lately since i past the halfway mark this year some of the more talked-about ones im like 'geez i should just get to that one already' #not that that makes me enjoy it any less. i think i mentioned that in my post i made while reading othello #i fucking loved othello. that shit was 10/10 although i very much was reading it bc i felt like i had to at that point. #doesnt mean i wouldnt love it. after all i only read shakespeare bc i love shakespeare! not bc theres a gun to my head #its more like i just want to know what everyone's talking about already #tales from diana #i think at this point the most famous one i still havent read is... much ado about nothing? which isnt THAT famous all things considered #but some of you ppl do seem to be awful crazy about it so ill see #i already knew the plot of twelfth night i had just never read the original. now i have #so i kinda already knew how much enjoyment i could get out of it. some! a good amount! #but i found it a quick read and i wasnt THAT excited about it #the next one i want to read is pericles though. ive read 8 shakespeare plays in 2023 but none have been romances! #i do love the romances. the romances are still the only genre where i havent read more than half of them #ive read 2 out of 5. the tempest and the winter's tale... two of my favorites overall #in a way ive kind of been holding myself back from reading more romances bc i needed to check some of my 'required reading' boxes lol
