What do you think about Ophelia's resplendent?

OK YES this is a good one. This one is actually probably the best Dokkalfheimr Resplendent we’ve seen so far, until someone else comes along and gives us an even better one. Drawn by Gesoking:

Ok firstly, the incorporation in this is PERFECTION. The gold and purple blends together beautifully, and whereas Elincia’s Resplendent had too much yellow, Ophelia’s yellow doesn’t overpower the whole outfit, just accentuates the purple. They covered up her stomach too in Dokkalfheimr fashion, while keeping the basic format of her original outfit, and the wings are lovely. Though minor nitpicks I’d point out is just that I wish the wings were less like a shawl and more like wings, and that I wish they did something more unique with her headband. But still a fantastic outfit.

That being said, the art itself could use a bit of work in the posing department. Color is awesome, expressions are pretty decent, and anatomy checks out, but the attack pose is so weak. Just needs improvement in that field.

And of COURSE Dokkalfheimr fits Ophelia, she’s Ophelia Dusk! Can’t think of a single other realm, besides maybe Hel, but her dad already has that covered.

Overall, Ophelia’s Resplendent is a 9.999999/10. Just needs some work on the art itself but it’s the best Dokkalfheimr Resplendent to date.

FEH Barracks Tour: Tellius Games (Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn)

I have 2 +10 units from the Tellius games!

Elincia: I got a lot of random copies of her in pity breaks and free summons over the years. I really like Elincia and I think her art is beautiful so I'm glad I decided to commit to the +10. I even think her resplendent art looks amazing.

Brave Ike: I had so many copies of him from free summons and his refine pushed me to building him. I'm trying to keep him usable with the current meta but he's still a fun unit to use.

Next up is Awakening! I have a whole lot of them so it'll definitely be split into two posts 😅

2023 was in some ways a worse year for me in Fire Emblem Heroes than 2022 was, and in some ways better. Two characters that I wanted were added (magenta, and like last year they were added at the end of the year) and three made it in as alts (pink.) The turquoise lines show the order from most wanted to least of the top 25 on the card.

It’s a shame that Kieran didn’t debut with Ascended Elincia; that would have been a perfect way to introduce him. Hayato would have been a great fit for the Wind Tribe banner, but the fact he wasn’t there leads me to suspect he will be on the next Fates banner. In fact, I can totally see the next Fates banner being Hoshido/Birthright themed and including Scarlet, Hayato (probably as a demote,) maybe Izana, maybe Sakura for the Ascended/Rearmed/Attuned character and Shura or Kotaro as the Grand Hero Battle character.

Unlike 2022, there were almost no “honorable mention” characters. The only one I can think of is Felix. Also, only two characters that I wanted Resplendent forms for, Female Corrin and Shigure, got them. The silver lining is that Camilla (finally) got a Legendary alt, Elincia got both a Legendary and Ascended alt (although I wish these hadn’t been released in the same year) and both Female Corrin and Soren were Choose Your Legends Winners!

I’ll post my most wanted characters for 2024 in the near future. Truth be told, the list didn’t change that much from 2023.

Guess who Cannot be bothered to edit images so instead I'm doing a text version of the favourites of 2023 from u/LiterallyANoob on the Feh Reddit (Read More'd because I'm nice like that, and also because I Cannot be bothered lmao. I've done small changes as well.)

Note that I didn't actually play FEH from February to August this year because I was so fucking bored and burned out because I didn't have any characters I wanted to save up for anymore, so I took a half a year break, and now I have So many units I want and I'm having so much fun with FEH. So here we go! (I'm not limiting myself to singular answers, because Some I have two for, but no more than two per category.)

Favourite(s) of 2023;

New Heroes Unit: Syrene <3

Special Unit: Summer!Ivy per default of me loving Ivy but I genuinely don't think a single normal Special unit hit this year.

Legendary/Mythic: Dude this year was Insane for L/Ms, Freyr, Elincia, Nerthuz... I really took a break at the worst time lmao (Or the best?)

Duo/Harmonic: I Think Ymir/Eir? I also really like Sakura/Elise. And Kagero/Orochi was also super cute. I do also really like Duo!Byleth. (I'm not super attached to any special unit from this year, I'm not gonna lie. This year was Not for me on that front, lots of good ones but no Fave Faves.) Tiki/Tiki is cute but I am very afraid this fucks with my copium hopes for a A!Tiki/Nagi Harmonic, so, yknow. I'm just tired of Y!Tiki, frankly.

Attuned/Rearmed/Ascended: R!Plumeria + A!Elincia

Resplendant: Tiki + F!Corrin (I don't care much for the resplendants because I am a stubborn F2Player, but these were So pretty.)

Grail Unit: Lumera I think?

Refine/Remix: L!Seliph, no competition. Absolute beast refine, ridiculous, hilarious, so much fun.

Favourite Unit To Use: L!Seliph. Lmao. Also R!Plumeria because she's really fucking fun. And A!Elincia too. Can you tell I have a whole new favourite team core going on rn?

Overall Favourite of 2023: A!Elincia + R!Plumeria (Yes I love them both so much, I'm so happy I got back just in time to spark Elincia, free-summon Plumeria, And have L!Elincia announced. Actually perfect. Let's just hope Elincia comes home on Monday.)

Biggest Wishes For 2024: Base!Ivy, Almedha, a Blutgang/Dorte Marianne. (In terms of units, ofc. Otherwise I don't really care lmao.)

Champagne: This isn’t a church-run event anymore, so the bar is open and flows freely. The waiter-mice might give you judging looks if you make a fool of yourself, and really, how low do you have to go to be judged by a mouse?

"Elincia! I've finally found you!" Leanne's bubbly joy matches the champagne in her cup, of which she has had a fair few sips. Herons are not famous for their alcohol tolerance, but this is a party and she imagines their magical patrons wouldn't purposefully poison their guests. She feels a little tingly, but part of that is surely seeing her dear friend. "I was hoping to share a dance with you here, though this is not what I expected. Oh, you look stunning!"

Elincia wears an orange dress, bright and striking and complimenting her green hair so very well. Leanne's eyes take note of the leg that is left almost entirely bare, its firm muscles shown off in plenty by the slit in the design.

"You've heard the talk of flowers, yes? We could exchange them and dance!" Leanne takes Elincia's hand, the lightning of her friend seemingly sparking her water. Or something like that. Really, just the gesture itself is enough to spark feelings within her heart, electricity crackling between their fingers. It's a shame her other hand is occupied right now. "It soothes my heart to see you are well!"

"Leanne! Putting the ethereal in 'Ethereal Ball' I see," it's a terrible joke, the kind one would only make after one too many flutes of champagne. The sentiment is however, heartfelt and earnest. Leanne always looks beautiful but tonight she's utterly resplendent in her blush pink gown. "You're an absolute vision! Seeing you is a delight!"

"I would love to dance with you. Let's exchange flowers," their hands clasp together and Elincia laughs as though she's walking on clouds. They sway slightly, not with the melody but with the champagne bubbles fluttering in their stomachs. "I wonder if we can make flowers bloom across the dancefloor together, if we try hard enough. What do you say?"

If you’re still doing the FEH artist asks, what about Niji Hayashi?

I'm ALWAYS up for FEH artist asks. I love the chances to interact!

And Niji Hayashi is a great choice. They're the artist for Ballroom Eldigan (Don't really know what else to call him besides that), Resplendent Elincia, New Year's Fafnir, Summer Hilda/Marianne, Ascended Ishtar, Resplendent Raven, and Ymir. A pretty nice well-rounded cast! And also a lot of original designing going on. They've got a really nice sharp coloring style going on, where some artists might have softer or more blended shading, Hayashi's is crisp and defined. And a fascinating thing to note is that their lineart is very textured; kind of like Fujisaka Kimihiko's work.

It's funny, because I've noticed a lot of their men they've drawn so far are sharp and serious; There's a little bit of variety though with Fafnir's smug smile:

I wanna give them credit where credit is due: I have always strongly disliked character designs where the character has no eyebrows; It's why I hate Hubert's design because I feel it partially messes with the character's ability to express. But Fafnir... He's kinda handsome-looking in this style o//w\\o

But like I mentioned before, they have some GREAT original costume designs for the characters they've drawn!

Resplendent Elincia:

No offense to Kippu, as I said before I love their art. But I love that Hayashi wasn't afraid to work with Elincia's dark green hair; that's a bit of a difficult beast to overcome in working with color, but they gave her a gorgeous outfit to compliment it (And I LOVE the style of the butterfly wings and the crown!).

Summer Hilda and Marianne:

I think Marianne's ensemble is just so pretty, and Hilda's is a nice call-back to her timeskip outfit.

Resplendent Raven:

The tatters of Hel's regalia really suits Raven.

And Ymir:

I also want to point out the absolutely gorgeous work with the plants and the waterfalls that fall underneath her cloak; Ymir's design relies more on her natural adornments rather than her clothing, and it really does help to tie in the outfit.

Their posework is also nice and dynamic, too! Using the crit portraits because also those crits are great!

Also, this isn't a criticism or anything, but I was reviewing their portraits gallery and Elincia's... That girl has some CAKE:

I honestly can't think of any crazy-strong criticisms... I guess if I had to think of ONE thing, I'd say that I'd like to see some more character diversity in terms of age for the characters. Maybe have them tackle Manuela, Nuibaba, or Calill for the women, and for the guys maybe Yukimura, Vaike, or Jesse.

All in all, they're a very close 9.99999/10. Really great artist, really great artwork, even if it's a character I wouldn't really summon on, I can't say I've had any complaints or issues with their artwork. I think they'd be a great choice to draw Felix, a Lon'Qu alt, a Shez alt (male or female), or a Luthier alt (Pls IS, more Luthier pls).

I like the pattern of “JP voice actor who’s been in FEH recently may point to an alt of a character they’ve voiced previously since they most likely do batch recordings” cuz it has held fairly true in the past.

Totally not saying this just cuz Male Corrin’s JP voice actor has done two very recent alts and that might point to a Legendary alt tomorrow, haha...

Other potential Legendary characters when going by the same pattern are Quan, Nanna, Ares, Eyvel/Brigid, Ninian, Myrrh, Sothe, Female Kris, Male Robin, and perhaps Yuri. Elincia is also a possibility, but her resplendent was very long ago; I’d still like to see it though.

But I’d also appreciate a surprise Xander or Soren.
