10. what year did you join the tumblr roleplaying community?

... does "technically never" count as an answer? 😅

To say I roleplay on Tumblr is a bit inaccurate. Currently, all I do is share bits and pieces about my OC and participate in the collaborative brainstorming process of growing her and her story. I don't really roleplay with her much at all, except for an occasional scene in-game.

That is not to say I haven't attempted to roleplay on Tumblr. In fact, back when I originally created this account (I wanna say... 2016? 2017?) I had done it specifically to find folks to interact and, more specifically, roleplay with. This was also in the days of the much less censored version of Tumblr, so I will refrain from specifying what kind of experience I was looking for. Some things are just better left in the past.

As to how successful I was... it was hit or miss. I tried several side blogs focused specifically on characters and their interactions with the online community, but as my skills are in writing and not in art, getting people to be interested in my characters was hard.

Sadly, lots of folks today prefer to see a story rather than read a story (myself included, in most cases). So if I didn't have a delightful image to accompany anything I wrote, most people in the niche I was in wouldn't give me the time of day. All those side blogs died almost as soon as I made them because they had no audience, and I didn't have the desire to continue something no one cared about. One of my greatest flaws, to be sure...

I’m bored. So bored in this club. It’s mildly crowded, and yet I’m standing by the wall, alone, keeping my drink close to my chest, and questioning my decision to leave my home in the first place.

I’m used to people staring. I mean, with how much of me my top shows off, it’s expected. But at least the latest person I’ve caught the eye of doesn’t seem to be a creep.

I say my goodbyes to the guy next to me, who talked my ear off about his fancy house and lucrative gig. He phrased it just like that- lucrative gig. I mean if he was willing to pay I’d have gone for it, but with how he was talking, he was expecting a free night.

If I’m not getting cash tonight, then I’ll at least go for someone who wasn’t already trying to convince me he’s too big for a condom. (I wouldn’t wanna use one anyway, but it’s still a red flag.) I’m a sucker for button shirts anyway.

I take my drink and my bag, and make my way over.

“Guess I know why they use the word wallflower. Would saying you’ve caught the attention of a social butterfly be too cheesy?”

I smile and lean against the wall next to you.
