ANYWAY, I got a surprise visit from @rosequartzzine today and I'm super delighted by everything!

Some might know, I only fully joined the fandom around the Diamond Days—and because of that I was always so bummed seeing these great zine projects that already came and went years before I ever knew about or had the money for them. So to hear about everyone's work over at Garden of Secrets, and actually get to back this and help them bring it to life, I was pretty excited—and it paid off!

#I hope this is okay to post cause I don't see anyone else having mentioned it so far oops #steven universe #rose quartz #in general; this is the first fanzine I've Ever had and I'm glad it could be this #also admittedly I never knew they could be this big! I always imagined the cute little ones; like the more historic definition of zine #but this looks so clean and professional #that open page part of the work by Rae Buhse #I always loved Rose's manifesto even if it isn't actually very canon lol #I've just done a quick flip through so I haven't looked at the writing pieces yet but they all look so neat #and they have these little doodles attached #I can't commend everyone who worked on this enough #the awful lights in my room DO NOT do everything justice I held up a little lamp to try and make it better but #scribs.txt

Will Rose Quartz/Steven content be applicable for the zine, or are you only accepting content that depicts Pink Diamond as her original form?

Hi and thank you for the question!

It would depend on the pitch/context of the concept, but yes we would accept content featuring Rose and Steven! For example, a piece with the Crystal Gems just hanging out wouldn't be accepted, since within that context it's not Pink but Rose, but something like a battle between the Crystal Gems and the Diamond forces, or a more symbolistic piece with Pink, Rose, Steven, and so on. But these are just vague ideas and not specifically what we'd accept or not accept, for context.

Hopefully this doesn't sound too restrictive, we do want to highlight other characters important to the Diamonds while also not losing our focus on them as they are. ^^

Hello friends! I'm one of the writers that worked on the upcoming Rose Quartz zine, Garden of Secrets! Check out all the info @rosequartzzine, and check out a preview of my fic below if you're interested!

Steven frowned as he looked back to the table and the five gems sitting atop it, feeling frustrated all over again. Whoever this new Gem was, there was no guessing how fast she could reform. Would it take weeks? Days? Could she be back in a matter of minutes, maybe even quicker than Amethyst?

Even though he’d disarmed her, Steven didn’t like the thought of that possibility. That Gem was a threat even before she’d pulled her weapon, and she might not be as easy to take down a second time around.

His brow furrowed as he stood from the couch, determined to at least try and keep doing something. Sitting around felt as awful as attempting to use his powers anyway.

He took a deep breath as he reached for the pink gem, laying his fingers over the facets, trying his best to focus the way he’d needed to when he started doing this.

Remember your bubbles. Sweat beaded on his brow as his eyes squeezed shut while he tried to recall his first times. Remember Nephrite. The Chaaaaps. The Gem Shards. Do like Pearl said. A Rose Quartz bubble. A Rose Quartz—

The sudden hum and glow from his own gem caught him off guard, and for a split second, he was convinced that he’d done it. Steven’s eyes shot open, but there was no smooth, glassy surface of a bubble beneath his fingers. Just the same heart shaped gem, with his exhausted reflection staring back at him.

The only difference was another pink light being cast on the room from his left, one that was stronger than the glow of his gem, and lighter too.

Confused, Steven turned his head, only to find the temple door opening to what was once his mother’s room.
