Ruel van Dijk new era !!
3rd March was realeased the debut album of Ruel called 4th Wall !! 🛋️
- The concept:
Ruel wanted to bring for the album the feeling of maturity. The tracks, all of them brought the sensation of losing something but getting another bigger.
Growing us is was the first single released in 2021, showing the guilty of being older and having real responsibilities.
“How does it feel growing up? Am I losing my teenage years?”
Must be nice is another track of the album that has a deep lyrics. Ruel, talking about this track says that would must be nice to not pretend happiness and satisfaction, when you can’t moving on with your own life.
“Well, I’m barely holding on
Oh, I’m barely holding on
While I’m barely holding on
So tell me what it’s like
To move on with your life
Fuck, it must be nice”
Japanese Whiskey, as another track that carries all the concept of 4th wall, talks about the idealization of your thoughts. “How far does you makes your thoughts perfects realities?”
“The Japanese Whiskey is a metaphor for something you like the idea of, more than the actual reality”
And lastly, Set Yourself on Fire. Tbh, I can say that this is my favorite track of the hole album. This track talks about the feeling of unsure and acceptance with it and with your life. Ruel, lyrically says that even if you don’t know what to do with yourself, and has storm thoughts on your head, you can sit and understand it all to finally accept the reality as it is. It is not about accept your unsure and scare of the future and present, but knows how to work it as an element that can be solved and understood.
