SSP Angel v1.1.0

It's SSP Angel's release anniversary! 🥳 🎉

To celebrate, we've brought you an update with corrections to various information, additional glossary terms, a ton of new content, an optional floating animation for Angel, and more!

Some highlights from the changelog:

Added ~100 new non-tip dialogues, bringing the total to 200.

Updated some incorrect information and wording, in the tip dialogues and in the menus.

Corrected/updated glossary definitions: AYA, Dressup, Freeshell, Ghost/Ukagaka/Nanika, Interval, Kawari, MAKOTO, SHIORI, Sakura Script, Satori, Surface, Ukadoc.

New glossary definitions: Animation, Element, Middleware, Owner draw menu, and Supplement.

Added new questions to the "How do I" menu: Fast forwarding through text, Using the ghost explorer.

Added the ability to ask who they are in the question menu, to have them reintroduce themselves.

Added a new troubleshooting option related to installation trouble. This information was originally in the "How do I" menu and has been moved.

Added a dressup to Angel that allows her to float up and down.

Added a response for switching to the PH Gijinka shell, and responses to that shell's hat dressup.

Earthquake Rescue Duo!! Ukagaka

hi! I know this is a metal gear sideblog, but this is where all of my official Ukagaka stuff and projects go also! I’ve released a new ghost for the @ukagakadreamteam​ 2022 Ghost Jam! The excellent Aegis’ Ghosts did all of the UI, including the ghost’s shell and balloon, while I implemented the code and back end stuff, haha. We both worked on the script together! Though most of the credit goes to it ^^; Anyway, I bet you want to know what they look like!

These are the Earthquake Rescue Duo! MAN-713 (Mantle, the sakura!) and Ridge (the kero!).

They have... - Network update! No more trawling for the newest version! - Earthquake Simulation! These two have a job too, ya know?! - Bundled Specialty balloon! What is an Ukagaka?

Taking a bit from Wikipedia…

Ukagaka (伺か), Nanika (何か), Sakura (さくら), Nin'i-tan (任意たん) or Nise-Haruna (偽春菜) is a catch-all term for Japanese software which shares a single format and function: to provide mascot characters for the user’s computer desktop. These mascot characters can perform some useful functions such as checking e-mail or adjusting the clock of the computer, but are most popular as an aesthetic add-on, which “says” weird things.

Aiba has functions like reminders and a work timer, along with dress-up items and lots of banter with Date.

How do I install her?

Download SSP if you don��t have it already. It’s the topmost big pink button on the left.

Once you’ve booted up SSP, the default Ukagaka will talk a lot. You can ignore that and just drag and drop Aiba‘s NAR file onto the catgirl.

When the README pops up, you can switch to Aiba in the menu that appears when you right click on the catgirl, under “Change Ghost”

it's 3d art of a nanika/ukagaka referred to as either nini-tan, nise-haruna, or sakura. depends on who you ask. i cannot for the life of me remember where i got the image its been sitting around in my downloads for eons

if you're not familiar with nanika/ukagaka it's a really cool subject to learn about. it's a type of software that puts a little desktop buddy (usually 2, actually) in the corner of your screen who you can interact with. some of them are very simple and some of them are complex to the point of having entire conversations with the user based on what time of day they started the program. you can even make your own, and it's an alive niche hobby to this day despite the age of the software. very cool. just be wary when researching it because a lot of its popular characters are cute little anime girls and well. you know how it is

Hello hello, it's been a while, I know.

I want to apologise for the little break, life hasn't been the nicest to me this year and I had to take a little break... I have been working a lot on Ukagaka stuff in my free time however and though it would've been nice to come back with plenty of stuff nothing is quite ready yet...

I have been writing docs, a big one that I started in May which I plan making into a website eventually but I still am learning proper HMTL & CSS on my own, I have had a little idea for a discord server which I have made in June with little progress since. I've been finding stuff and making a lot of researches, I haven't been able to do as much as I want to though because of health issues.

Also I plan on giving the blog a little makeover and to re-brand a little bit !
