i did some wacky stuff to my skykid and attempted to do a background but it kinda came out terribly but i didn’t wanna fix it because that takes up too much energy and god knows i’m already running low on that stuff

what’s the deal with the colored lights / elemental magic thing in your Sky AU?

Oh, I knew the day would come to talk about these colored lights. Let's be clear right away. I have never gave much attention to this mechanic and have never taken it upon myself to prescribe it thoroughly. So don't expect me to tell you anything interesting here. But still, I'll have a few words about it.

Let me say one thing right away, and we'll start our journey. The light from the Forgotten Ark has nothing to do with either the light from the season of prophecy nor the Megabird. This light was created by ancestors and only by ancestors.

A long time ago, even before the construction of the Vault of Knowledge, people used magic. Unfortunately, not everyone, but only those who had a "predisposition" to it. These were those who were sensitive to the thing that was then called "the thin realm". Now we call it limbo. But since giving magic only to a select few is not fun, people have been wanting to get to the bottom of the true nature of things and the reasons why magic works at all. They achieved success in this matter with the advent of the elder Lamed. It was then that magic was "decoded" and divided into 5 main currents. The sixth, purple light was created artificially in the walls of the Vault later.

The "decoding" of magic has led to a strong simplification of its use. Magic used to be incomprehensible and unpredictable. Eventually, magic has become a science that you can write a textbook about. Anyone with sufficient desire can learn one of the currents. The Enchantment guide distinguished themself by the fact that they were the only one who managed to learn and freely use all existing types of magic (including financial).

Can a skykid learn one of the types of magic? Sure, why not. There is no such thing as "talent" in skykids from the beginning. As I said before, skykids are all created according to the same template. They begin to realize themselves as individuals only after the first circle. However, interest is another matter. Skykids' skills vary because different skykids have different fates, which in turn gives rise to different characters, which in turn gives rise to different interests in exploring the world. But you know, with enough patience and free time, skykid can be taught anything. From baking to taking integrals.

Red shard eruption yesterday in Wasteland. I love the ominous look. Though I wish it wasn’t so intense at the very start. May as well be blind.

However it does remind me of all the rust and debris in the air where I used to live.
