Hello everyone I have a situation here where we have just received a senior blind female Pomeranian that was found in a state park between Auburn and Rocklin. I will be checking with the local shelter to see if anybody has lost a dog but in my opinion old blind dogs don’t get left in parks unless they are dumped there. Remy had a bit of a rough day yesterday. Clyde and Tootsie are pending lab work which we will have soon and I will update on them then. Diagnosis for Remy: Endocardiosis with mild heart enlargement, grade 4 heart murmur, and collapsing trachea. Endocardiosis is a valve disease. In order for the heart to function properly, blood must be able to flow, squeezed through valves from chamber to chamber and into and out of the heart. Unfortunately, in some dogs, a condition known as endocardiosis sets in as they age. With this condition, fibrous tissue begins to develop and accumulate in the valves between heart chambers, and the valves themselves change in structure as their function becomes more and more limited. Leading to total heart failure. Xrays were also done on Remy's back legs. He is very arthritic and weak. Leading us to believe the xrays would be horrible. Joint/ bone wise they weren't bad for his age what is concerning is that he absolutely has no muscle or cushion. He does not put weight on or use his back legs other than to stabilize himself. Our thinking is that most likely he was caged his entire life with no room for movement. He also has a hunched back. Remy has become one of my most dearly loved cream puffs. I'm so grateful that we get to take care of this baby boy. 17 yrs old or not. He is a sweet precious baby. I don't know what time he has left but I can guarantee it will be the best in his life. Remy will start several heart medications and prednisone on top of his pain management pills he already takes. Please donate for his care.
