I've just been kinda rewatching different episodes as the mood strikes, and today I watched Aurora. Everything about this episode struck me. Sheppard's confidence when he first talks to the Captain and his understanding when he talks to the captain at the end. Rodney explaining to Ronon that they save each other and soon it will be Ronon's turn to do the saving because Ronon hasn't been with them that long. The trust that's rebuilt between Sheppard and McKay as they work to the very end. Rodney trying to buy time from Caldwell as the Wraith cruisers get closer because he's concerned about Sheppard. Sheppard finding out about the cruisers and being irritated he's just finding out because he's worried about everyone. The sacrifice of the Aroura. The captains final words to his crew. The toast at the end.

This isn't a filler episode. It's not a funny one. It's not one of the hard ones, but it's a really, really, really good one

I love this episode so much. It has what we all love about this show: the snark, the heart, the friendship. It's annoying Caldwell, saving each other, stopping the Wraith on more time. It's self-sacrifice, courage, holding out hope until the very last second.

I love Sheppard saying he doesn't trust McKay and then the rapid-fire back and forth of saving each other. I love Sheppard finally earning the trust of Aurora's Captain. I love the toast at the end. I love the honoring paid by one set of warriors to another 10,000 years later.
