How many works do you have on AO3? 108. I need to add some ficlets to my collection but I've been slacking a bit on that, so.

What’s your total AO3 word count? 274,716

What fandoms do you write for? Star! Gate! At! Lan! Tis! The hyperfixation is strong ok. It's the thing that shook loose my half-decade dormant desire and ability to write, so. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I really try to!!! One of the things that was not good about posting all my ficlets onto AO3 in quick succession was ending up with more comments than I could handle, so now I have a...backlog. Getting comments makes me feel so good though, and I just...want to honor the effort made with some of my own in return? Idk, I've talked about this a fair bit in a handful of posts but I'm just really not used to the amount of interaction I get in SGA fandom and I still feel.......very blessed lmao. Bleh sincerity on main how gross

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? We Are Standing On the Edge, a Jin/Kame fic about a road trip and the apocalypse which I wrote for @merionettes in a fic exchange in 2010.

What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Most of my fics either have happy endings or implied happy endings? I like making good things happen to the characters I love so much. Sometimes after making bad things happen to them, but. At any rate, O I Think We Should Be Brethren is my personal happiest ending because of how long and hard a journey it is to get there.

Do you get hate on fics? I got a hate comment once, on the (in)famous Kanjani Cannibalism Fic.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Do I ever! I like to write kinky sex as a means of exploring and facilitating vulnerability. I also like to write blowjobs.

Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I've never written a crossover! ..............I don't think, at least.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I am aware of.

Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes! A couple of my Johnny's fics have been translated into Russian and Chinese.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? Not to completion.

What’s your all time favorite ship? Yokohina, Sakura/Syaoran, McShep...don't make me choose between my children like this??? Sakura/Syaoran literally invented romance for my teenage self, like I am not kidding at how formative of a ship that was for me in my life. Also why I started learning Japanese, so. Yokohina will forever be beloved to me in the same way that Kanjani8 will forever be beloved to me, in a way that is (literally) tattooed into my flesh, in a way that influenced my life massively, in so many aspects. I will never not be thirsty for the two of them saying weirdly romantic things about each other in public forums, for them being the solid foundation upon which their group is built. For Yoko being a pigtail-pulling twelve year old boy towards Hina even as they're in their mid-forties. AND THEN THERE'S FUCKING MCSHEP. A ship that I knew about when it was popular and brushed off as an Any Two White Guys, Migratory Slash Fandom Thing. A ship that, when my wife and I started watching SGA, we said "haha wouldn't it be so funny if we ended up being all in on mcshep?" A ship that resonates in my heart in the most bizarrely intense way and shook loose the desire to write and create from its atrophied place in the back of my head. I love them. I hate them. They're perfect.

What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I have about 25k of a later-years yokohina friends to FWB to lovers fic that I wish I could finish but the McShep brainrot is.........so strong. On the other hand, never say never?

What are your writing strengths? haha so much harder to answer this than weaknesses!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I can write good funny dialogue, which is amazing to me because when I started writing my dialogue was horrendous, just absolutely awful and stilted and I hated writing it so much! like it was a running joke between me and my best friend at the time that I could not write anything that sounded even remotely natural or like real human speech. guess that shows that practice makes perfect or whatever? idk.

What are your writing weaknesses? endings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ensemble casts/scenes with more than two people in them. plots more complex than simple romantic contrivance.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? nah. It always feels a bit fanfiction.net anime fandom to me?

First fandom you wrote for? speaking of fanfiction.net anime fandom....I wrote Sakura/Syaoran angstfic into a notebook when I was 13. The first things that I actually shared with other people were either Harry Potter or the fics I wrote about the boys at my church who were just unnecessarily homoerotic with each other in the way that only teenage church boys can be (iykyk)

i've been reading a lot of McShep fics lately and a while back i mentioned that i had plans to make a couple of fic rec posts. they're taking me forever to make, but here's the first one, finally!

@wonkyelk was one of the first authors i found, and i've read and loved SO MANY of their fics! wonderful author that made me fall head over heels for the pining!John and oblivious!Rodney trope! 💖

this is by no means an exhaustive list of the fics i loved from them, it's just a small number of the ones i read and enjoyed. my biggest recommendation with this author is to just go read their fics, it's great stuff and their language is delightful.

Rodney's emotional levels were generally at critical, but, right now, they were straining the banks and spoiling for a flood of world-drowning proportions. This wasn't because of a crisis, nor even anything so petty and ordinary as a mid-life crisis - not that Rodney was old enough for that, slap bang in the very prime of life as he was and intended to remain - but more of a build up of small things and not-so small things, stacking up awkwardly on top of each other and wobbling under the pressure and the terrible engineering choices.

Smowkie: this is a wonderful read, and i love how John comes first for Rodney long before he realizes his feelings for him. also Rodney and Jeannie bonding 💖 (to clarify the break-up tag: i've chosen not to add relationship tags in this post since all fics are McShep, but this fic has both the John/Rodney and the Jennifer/Rodney relationship tags, and the break-up tag is for Jennifer/Rodney)

I have a soft spot for fics that explore cultural things within the SGA universe, so here's a couple of those:

John always gets a little thrill when he sees Rodney sign at him across the room, casually dissing people literally standing next to him and John is the only one who knows.

Scenes from a Lesser War by amireal rated M, Rodney/John, 20.4k

Don't ask don't tell is repealed and all of Atlantis tries to find their footing, except for John and Rodney, who just try to find each other.

Note: I think the structure of this fic is beautifully done.

and this fic is both beautiful and emotionally devastating. I love it and I cried a lot the first time I read it. It's more of a character study of Rodney and you'll see why if you read it. I can give you more extensive tags than the author did if you want them. I think about this fic like once a year at least. The second, shorter installment in the series is also amazing.

FICTOBER TIME!

"But audioletter," you say, "your prompt list says audioletterTober 2023!"

No, I'm not writing fic about myself for thirty-one days (oh lord), let me explain.

So I have been in fandom for almost 30 years, and in the past decade I have run into a lot of problems with being doxxed, (extremely) bad fandom friends/experiences and basically the joy being sucked out of it. I now have two fandoms plus more that I really enjoy, and I started a Tumblr again to, well, enjoy them. Writing used to come as naturally to me as breathing, but I simply stopped because I had such a visceral fear of fandom as a whole. Like, I talk to my therapist about it, it's so bad. You may have noticed @spurious sending me multiple asks for fic based on memes - this has been an exercise in getting my brain back into a fic writing mindset and it has been working.

So, I decided I wanted to do Fictober, but I was not jiving with the prompts. Nothing against them, but my brain is so jammed up, I seem to only be resonating with certain prompts or songs and so, @spurious lovingly made me my own prompt list with those she knew I could work with. I am forever thankful.

Last thing you read: I'm still working at @dedkake it couldve started when series. Love it love it I'm just a slow reader (but tbh finding it kickstarted my mcshep kick)

Last book you enjoyed: I have not read actual books in forever. Consider this another plug for the road by cormac McCarthy

Favourite thing to cook/bake: I love doing banana muffins/bread, quick and easy. Shortbread cookies if I'm feeling adventurous (rare). To hell with actual cooking cooking sucks

Favourite craft to do in your free time: I do love to write. Actual crafts? Those diamond painting things are fun

Most niche dislike: negative sports fans. Jaysblr you do not count. It's the people that constantly talk shit about every individual of their supposed team they cheer for that piss me off (work this summer has granted me this new displeasure)

Opinion on circuses: I feel like I don't know enough to form an opinion tbh

I went with 17. An upside-down "Spider-Man" kiss

A screech echoed throughout the forest, and John ran before his mind caught up to what was happening. He made it to where Teyla and Rodney were quickly, skidding to a stop with Ronon behind him as he took in the scene, some of the tension leaving his body when he didn't spot anyone else. Just Teyla trying to steady a wriggling Rodney, who was upside down, hanging by one ankle.

Rodney continued to wriggle until he faced them, face red with anger or blood rushing to his head; John was willing to bet it was a combination of both. He pointed a finger at Ronon. "This is your fault!" he yelled, his voice strangled.

"Forgot about these," Ronon said, completely unphased.

"That makes one of us!" Rodney snapped, trying to flip Ronon off, but the movement made him spin even more.

John felt the last of the tension leave his shoulders as he walked over and grabbed the front of Rodney's tac vest and shaking slightly. "Stop moving," he said, smiling at the glare Rodney leveled in his direction.

They were back on the planet they had found Ronon on, looking for his hidden caches that had been buried when he was a runner. Ronon didn't remember what was in them, and they had some downtime now that the Wraith war was over. It was an easy mission, and as long as they got back to the jumper before sunrise then John knew there would be no issues. He thought about the first time they had been here and how close he had come to getting Ford to come with them, as well as Rodney's bright orange hazmat suit, and he smiled.

"What about this is funny?" Rodney demanded arms crossed as he dangled there, waiting for Ronon to get him down.

"Just remembering your orange hazmat suit," John said.

Rodney huffed. "I didn't need more radiation exposure."

Years ago, John wouldn't snorted, but he knew he was getting up there as well, so he let the comment slide. "None of us do. Ronon will have you down, and maybe the next time, he'll trip one of them."

Rodney's face went bright with anticipation, and if he wasn't gripping John's arm, John was sure Rodney would be rubbing his hands together gleefully. "You think?"

"Stranger things have happened," John said, looking over to where Ronon was frowning at the trap. John caught his eye and raised an eyebrow.

Ronon shrugged, and then looked at Rodney. "Ready?"

"No," Rodney snapped, crossing his arms, but he tucked his head into his body and lifted himself up so his back would take the brunt of it.

John hated that Rodney knew how to do that, and he stepped closer, wrapping an arm around Rodney's waist and supporting him, knowing they'd both crash, but he hoped he would mitigate some of the damage.

"Comfy," Rodney muttered, but John could see the thankfulness in his eyes.

John had a thought. "Hey, hey, Rodney."

"What?" Rodney demanded, turning as much as he could to look at John.

John kissed him, soft, feeling Rodney's mouth relax against his own before he pushed back. John kept it soft because they were out in the middle of nowhere, but it was still a novelty, still something that he could do and not have to worry, even though he knew Ronon and Teyla had their backs. But he didn't need to hide anymore and wanted to spend the rest of forever kissing Rodney in the sunlight.

He pulled back as Ronon started a countdown and smiled at Rodney's awestruck expression, still giddy to see that even after months of dating. Rodney's mouth twisted into a wry grin. "Thanks, Mary Jane," he said, but there was happiness in his eyes.

John snorted. "No problem, Spiderman," he said before Ronon got to one and John stumbled, collapsing as Rodney's full weight was dropped onto him, but a body braced him before he could fall and Rodney's legs dropped to the ground, none of them falling over. John turned to see Ronon bracing him as Teyla emerged from behind the tree, putting her knife away.

"Well, this was fun," Rodney said, brushing himself off and facing the three of them. "I'm going to follow one of you, step for step. Being strung up twice is enough for me for a lifetime."

"Okay," Ronon said before beginning to head in the direction they had been going, Teyla right behind him and Rodney following him. John followed as well, feeling happier than he had in a long time.

- 89! I have a lot of other works that never made the move from LJ to a03 tho.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

- 1,100,235. I like to think this is an indication of how my mental health is, lmao.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

- Mosly MCU Irondad but I have caved and started writing Heartstopper lately. And I have some Our Flag Means Death fics in the works. I used to write a lot of McShep for Stargate Atlantis, as well as Supernatural, Harry Potter, Torchwood & Doctor Who.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

- Five Time Faculty Members Had to Call Peter's Emergency Contact + One Time He Shows Up Anyway 5,410 kudos

-Five Times Tony Stark's Fabled Intern Just Showed Up + One Time He Was Invited 2,824 kudos

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Yes! I like to say thank you to everyone who comments because I am forever grateful for it!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

If You Find That You Feel Lost, I'll Be Your Ticket Back which I think has a happy ending to it but others disagree. And Films About Ghost which also is a happy/sad ending. There's resolutions but it's not what everyone wants.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Hmm, I think they all end kinda happy? lol Maybe Operation: Graduation but it's very light hearted.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Yeah, not very often but I think sometimes I like moving away from tropes and mixing it up a bit. For We Are Bound by Symmetry got some hate on how I handled the bio!Dad thing. We Always Walked a Very Thin Line got some unexpected hate! And recently there was an anon on Edges of Your Name that poked a little.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yes, I'm writing one now, lol. I mostly do slash but I've dabbled in het a few times.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Nah, not really.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Nope! I don't look for it anyway and I doubt anyone would want to steal my shit, lol.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes!! Oh my god, someone did two fics in RUSSIAN and I was so happy I cried! Honestly I felt so good about it!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

A very long time ago, I did a Hanson shoebox AU with my friend, haha. And even before that me and my high school bestie cowork some Hanson fics but nope! I'd love to though. Someone cowrite something with me, please!!!

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

Ngggh. This is hard because my brain is like MCSHEP BITCH (John Sheppard/Rodney McKay) and then immedatly followed by Nick Nelson/Charlie Spring, Aziraphale/Crowley, Ed/Stede, Jack/Ianto. And I just realized a majority of these are CANON which NEVER HAPPENS TO ME and I think I might die of happiness knowing my ships are canon. (Also wow my brain did not come up with a single het ship lol opps)

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

My WIP folder has about 49 fics in it, so yeah. There's a Richard Parker Alive but Terrible Parent fic that I was pretty far into before I gave up. I'd like to actually finish that but I've lost the plot bunny somewhere.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Hmm, I dunno, honestly. I think I can write certain characters well like the funny sarcastic ones (Peter Parker, Charlie Spring, Rodney McKay and even Tony Stark) because it's just me, hi, that's me.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Aside from spelling, lolz? I think I get too wordy sometimes, I have to cut paragraphs off in editing because I just keep going. I also think I can't end a scene to save my life sometimes and get frustrated when I don't think the end point works.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I don't think I really have? I dunno, Nick hasn't spoken French in a fic yet, damn I might just have to add that soon...

19. First fandom you wrote for?

OKAY if we're going to be for reals about this, most likely the Hobbit or The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe. I was writing fic as a kid (self insert no less) without realizing it. Later I'd write "episodes" of like Rainbow Brite, or Carebears, Inspector Gadget, Captain Planet. I'd also write one off Marvel/DC stuff with a self insert superhero (aka me with powers, usually I was an x-man lmao).

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

Nhggh, that's hard. I like, act like I like what I write but I also end up like, hating it? I think I really love how Just an Intern turned out, from conception to finishing it, it was a fun write. And I quiet like how Edges of Your Name has come together too. But I think I had a little magic in me when I wrote There is Always One Last Light to Turn Out somehow. I wrote the thing in like 2 days and I think it came out rather well for something I mostly texted to speech as I was driving to work, ha.
