Quick facts about this verse of G4(/G5) that is unlike the canon:

- Alicorns cannot be made in this universe, therefore Celestial, Luna, Cadence, Twilight, Flurry and Luster never become full alicorns. However, by being crowned a royal by Sterling and Gold (alicorn's blessing), the pony in question will gain potent magic that amongst other things gives the pony a longer lifespan (up to 300 years extra). The magic is likely to manifest like how Sunny Starscout’s alicorn powers do.

- The lifespans of royals goes back to normal once the magic is taken away between G4 and G5. When the magic returns later on only Sunny gain the alicorn's blessing since she is the one to bring Luster's crystals back together. She is likely to be the last pony to gain the alicorn's blessing for a long time.

Here's some Intertwineverse history

Gold Lily and Sterling were alicorns born long before Equestria’s beginnings. Similar in age but never acquainted in childhood, both were chosen to save the pony tribes from freezing to death.

Gold Lily chosen for her calm empathic and kind nature. She knew the unease of new unknowns, about being forced to face the dread but come out on top. The young alicorn had a way of easing the anxiety of change for others. How to welcome progress in a way that could only compared to the hope of a new dawn.

Sterling chosen for her reassuring but stern nature. She always put emphasis on the inevitability of a setting sun, nothing could ever last forever. That did not mean the past was no longer epochal in how it teaches us our most valuable lessons. Sterling had a way with closure and letting the past go that could only compare to the sun’s last light fading behind the horizon.

The two young alicorn first met only days before their departure to what would later become Equestria. Without yet knowing each other, they both knew their destinies were intertwined. They both felt it the moment their eyes met.

Gold and Sterling earned their god-like powers after restoring balance to the world by defeating Discord with the Elements of Harmony early in Equestria’s history. The god of chaos had made a rift so prominent that the two princesses had to learn how to manually raise the moon and sun. No longer could the day nor night make it through its natural cycle without them moving the celestial bodies.

After about 700 years of royal duties, Gold and Sterling began looking for apprentices. Someponies to take over the hardships of ruling Equestria, all this in hopes that the two of them could focus on finding a way to restore or undo what Discord’s magic had caused. Two young and promising unicorns named Celestia and Luna are chosen to train under the princesses until they are ready to take on the princesses' roles.

The unicorn sisters rule over Equestria for almost 300 years before taking on their own apprentices, Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle. Sunset Shimmer mysteriously disappears and leaves Twilight to train under Celestial and Luna on her own.

A jealous Opaline Arcana has watched Gold Lily and Sterling be the most powerful beings in Equestria for almost a thousand years. She decides she is more worthy of all that power and goes to take it all for herself. On the day Twilight Sparkle is about to meet her future friends Opaline makes her way to Ponyville where not only Celestia and Luna are, but Gold Lily and Sterling too.

With the help from the Elements of Harmony, Twilight and her friends defeat Opaline and banish her to the sun. Before being blasted away Opaline swears revenge on Twilight and her friends.

Gold Lily and Sterling leaves Equestria to search for the cure to Discord's chaos magic once again, feeling that Equestria will be safe in Twilight and her friends' hooves.

Twilight rules for a little more than 300 years before passing the throne onto Luster Dawn. (Cadence passes the throne onto Flurry Heart)

Gold Lily and Sterling manages to find an ancient draconequus artifact that restores balance to nature to the point that ponies no longer need to change the seasons, weather or day to night. Unfortunately they have to pay their immortality for the artifact. They retire to live out their last days back in their homeland.

When Opaline returns a thousand years after her banishment, she finds out that not only is Twilight long dead, but magic has disappeared too. Luster Dawn had had a moment of weakness not long before passing away in which she feared that once Opaline returns, she’ll have no one to stop her from taking everyone’s magic (and taking over Equestria). So if no one has any magic, there’s none to take. Luster separates the magic into one crystal for each of the three pony tribes. She orders her apprentices (one from each tribe) to hide the crystals away where they won’t be connected nor found.

Generations of misinformation and mistrust later, Sunny Starscout brings magic back together with her friends and Opaline is free to finally collect it. She is later defeated by Sunny and her friends.

I re-watched all of G4 and started G5 for the first time and I have a theory of the timeline

G5 IS AN ALTERNATE TIMELINE FUTURE AND THE FiM SHOW DOES NOT TAKE PLACE IN THE SAME UNIVERSE

(That being said, the events of the FiM show did take place)

When Princesses Twilight Sparkle and Mi Amore Cadenza (Cadence) ruled their two kingdoms, after the death of their closest companions (the Guardians of Friendship and Shining Armor), their defense plans were made weaker. Twilight realized that so long as she ruled, she would outlive all of her closest friends. With the elements of harmony destroyed and the Pillars long dead, it seemed there was no remaining Friendship magic. Twilight continued to take on new pupils and send them all over Equus, but without the bonds of friendship they once had as an example, and with no villains to fight, they never lived up to her legacy. Alicorns are immortal and cannot die, and when Princess Cadence joins Princesses Celestia and Luna in retirement, they decide to cast a spell together to send them on to the next world. Twilight is devastated all over again, and decides that being apart from those you care about only leads to heartbreak, so she reaches out to Princess Flurry Heart and Dragon Lord Spike. She gives them a choice; to return to Equestria and live in Canterlot with her, or to remain outside the borders of her kingdom and establish a diplomatic relationship. Spike protests at first, but ultimately decides to return to Equestria to be with Twilight. On the other hoof, Princess Flurry Heart refuses to leave the Crystal Empire, knowing King Sombra is out there waiting.

Twilight grew wary of the other kingdoms, eventually telling Flurry Heart that the Crystal Empire was technically officially a part of Equestria, and taking control herself, believing this to be the only way to keep her niece safe. Yakyakistan ends its Friendship treaty with Equestria after 100 moons as promised, and Twilight is too busy with two kingdoms to deal with international relations. Meanwhile, the Dragon Lands have a new Dragon Lord, and he doesn't approve of Princess Twilight's rulership. The Dragon Lands sever ties with Equestria, and soon Griffonstone and the Changeling Kingdom follow. The Kirin realize that Equestria is becoming weaker and flee, fearing that their homeland could be taken over. Princess Flurry Heart tries to stop Twilight from making rash decisions, but Twilight argues with her, causing a rift between the princesses. Spike, remembering what happened all those moons ago with the Two Sisters, tells Twilight that he wants to go into limbo. She denies him, so he seeks out another powerful unicorn to help him. In his travels, he goes to the Crystal Empire and finds a scroll left by Celestia, Luna, and Cadence for Flurry Heart. It details the spell they cast to enter the next world. Shocked, Spike takes it back to Canterlot, only to find Twilight and Flurry Heart in a massive fight.

Desperate to stop them before it got out of hand, he tells Twilight about the spell and suggests she reunite with her friends. Twilight seems to consider it, but Flurry Heart sees the Royal Stamp of the Crystal Empire and becomes enraged at Twilight, thinking she had stolen her mother's magic. In a flash of magic, the scroll is destroyed and Twilight is weakened. Seeing everything she did wrong, she begs Flurry Heart to reconsider her actions. Spike, having no other choice, tells Twilight how to cast the spell. She thanks him, and sends him into limbo, realizing his plan. Flurry Heart starts growing crystals in the Canterlot throne room, feeling that Twilight stole her home from her. Twilight and Flurry Heart fight, breaking several of the crystals in the process. Knowing that Flurry Heart's power matches her own, Twilight draws power from the ponies in Equestria, leaving them drained like Tirek. She sends one of the broken crystals to each of her pupils, infusing almost all of her magic in them, knowing that they would need to be united in harmony and friendship, but trusting her pupils to continue her lessons.

Twilight then faces Flurry Heart and casts the spell Spike told her about, using almost all of her magic to do so. Flurry Heart reverses it on her, and in a final attempt to stop her, Twilight sends a message to the crystals, hoping that when they're united again, the message will help guide the next generation.

The Crystal Empire becomes abandoned as everyone in all of the kingdoms leaves to the distant lands, fearing Flurry Heart and the disappearance of magic in Equestria. Flurry Heart had drained almost all of her magic, and Canterlot was destroyed. Twilight's pupils, a unicorn, a pegasus, and an earth pony, each took their crystals and fled, leading as many ponies as they could to the coast. Flurry Heart was too weak to follow them and too weak to stop the Everfree Forest from taking over most of Equestria. Her rage fueled her magic, and she set the mountain where Canterlot used to be aflame, transforming the castle and her appearance into a corrupted version of what used to be.

Discord watched the fire burn and the ponies flee, fearing the ponies he used to love. He disappeared into the Everfree Forest, a great sadness taking over him and leaving him half-asleep for centuries, devastated that he could never join his friends in the next world.

As the last ponies who knew what happened died, the story started to warp, causing fear and mistrust between the three pony tribes. The unicorns believed that they fled because the earth ponies were starving them, leaving them to hide deep in the forest, magic drained. The earth ponies believed that they fled because the pegasi were controlling the weather, sending lightning down on their crops and stopping the rain, leaving them in a firey drought. The pegasi believed that they fled because the unicorns had gotten in a massive fight, zapping their home into a wasteland.

The unicorns settled in Shady Hollow, renaming it Bridlewood and developing a superstitious, whimsical community. The earth ponies settled on Horseshoe Bay, naming their town Maretime Bay and developing an orderly and scared community. The pegasi settled atop a mountain outside what used to be Starlight's village, now long abandoned, naming their city Zephyr Heights and developing a futuristic monarchy.

Helloooo finally got some pony content here

Especially that it's my infection au!! Right now I'm just going to post the survivors until I can post the actual gore and the stages of of the infection. But while I'm working on that I hope you enjoy the survivors I got line up!!

Starting off with King Sombra and Flurry Heart!! Now this au, Flurry Heart is a little older, so she is is around the same age Apple bloom would've been in the show. (The cutiemark crusaders are obviously little older in this au as well. And this takes place the beginning of season 3..just..a little different lol. Ah gotta love aus./g).

How Sombra became Flurry Hearts protector/guardian is a sad one with a sweet ending though. King Sombra came back once the Crystal Empire came back. But, it was easier than he thought. He just walked right in, trotting around the empty streets of the Empire. But, it was oddly quiet. He was more so confused and a little worried if the ponies were even alive. As he was trotting up to the Castle, he was attacked by an infected. He quickly fought back and impaled the infected pony (owch). He was now alert and he was bitten. Luckily for Sombra, he isn't a normal pony. He was more shadow than pony. So he can't get infected, he's immune. However, due to his dark magic corrupting his body many moons ago, he can't provide a cure. Once, Sombra got into the castle he noticed it was a pretty bloody sight. Before he noticed a white unicorn carrying a filly alicorn on his back, running away from a horde of infected ponies. Sombra quickly blocked the horde with his black crystals, saving the unicorn and filly. The unicorn turns out to be Shining Armor and the filly is his daughter, Flurry Heart. He suddenly began to beg and plead with Sombra, hoping he could take care of Flurry Heart, to protect her until her mother gets back from Canterlot. Sombra cringes at the idea of protecting this filly but, he knew she would probably die if she doesnt have anyone to guide her and provide for her. And he noticed that Shining Armor was bitten, and it was spread fast. Sombra is cruel, but he isn't that cruel. He promises Shining Armor to protect Flurry and takes her. He now is trying to reinforce the castle and to get any survivors into the castle to build and army to defend themselves and the other survivors. Flurry heart slowly brings out a softness in Sombra, and the two are close. Almost like found family (sobs)

I love these two, they are so cute and the fact that my version of Sombra always wanted kids when he wasn't corrupt but couldn't but then has to protect Flurry heart us just very sweet. He's literally a dad. And Flurry heart just brings out is sweet side and she just makes him play dolls and dress up, most definitely lol.

Here's their story!! I will post Twilight, AJ, Pinkie, Fluttershy and Discord soon!! I think I will post Twilight soon and I will work on RD very soon!! I have lost to work on and write as well!! (Also sorry if I misspelled anything or used the wrong words..I'm not the best at that lol)

Because you ask for it, here are my StarBurst Headcanons!

Long post warning ahead. In no particular order:

Sunburst!

Sunburst’s hair is actually curly but he doesn’t know how to take care of it and doesn’t understand why it’s such a mess even though he brushes it every morning. (Btw, you’re not supposed to brush curly/kinky hair, especially when it’s dry, and of course that’s exactly what he does.)

He’s very proud of his goatee, his mother hates it and asks him to shave it every time he visits, which makes him like it even more, and is considering growing a full beard, just to piss her off.

He loves books for sure, but if you search through his private library, you won’t find a single novel, storybook, or anything resembling a fiction section. He doesn’t care for it. Since he knows so much about magic and history, when he reads a novel that embellishes some historical fact or magical effect, it takes him out of the story and immediately makes him lose interest.

Some of his most precious books were found while dumpster diving. That’s right, he dumpster dives once in a while, especially around libraries, second-hand stores, old houses, and construction sites. Libraries and second-hand stores usually throw away or give away books, since they get so many and they can’t sell them fast enough. Construction sites usually dig so deep that they bring up some interesting artifacts, and when the owners of old houses die, the family usually throws away the previous owners’ things, which includes books and other oddities.

Most of his furniture comes from antique stores, second-hand stores, and whatever Equestria’s version of the Good Will is.

Sunburst always leaves the house with an empty saddle bag and somehow manages to come back with it filled to the brim with books he picked up along the way.

After he dropped out of magic school, Sunburst’s income was very limited. He had to live with whatever his mother could send him and with the money he got from part-time jobs. This turned him into quite the penny pincher, he learned the hard way how to budget every bit he got.

His luck finally turned when he started working as a freelance editor since he could read through hundreds of pages in a matter of hours, red pen in hoof, and be done with hefty manuscripts in a day. Many writers appreciated his speed and accuracy when handling their manuscripts, and were quite saddened when he quit freelancing to work full-time for the Royal Family.

When the Crystal Empire returned, they were desperate to bring in more ponies to live full-time in the Empire, one of the ways to achieve this was to sell houses and land on the cheap, that’s how Sunburst got his house with his meager income. The alternative would’ve been to live with his mother, and Sunburst would’ve rather lived under a bridge than move back home.

Sunburst watches Flurry Heart from time to time. He’s very patient and gentle with her, and Flurry Heart adores him for it. He’s the only that can get her to eat her peas without making (too much) of a mess. He’s writing a book about his experiences in watching her, like a guidebook on how to raise infant alicorns, he hopes to publish it once she’s grown and already has her parents’ permission to do so. Cadance explicitly requested to send a signed copy to Twilight once he’s done, for all they know, she might be having alicorns of her own one day.

Starlight Glimmer!

Her family is actually one of the founding families of Sire’s Hollow, but unlike her father who’s very proud of this fact, she really couldn't care less.

Starlight left home as soon as she was legally an adult. She worked various mundane but safe jobs, studying magic in her free time and slowly building her philosophy, meeting ponies that were down on their luck and vulnerable to her suggestions (working in retail she met quite a few ponies like that). It was a slow process but before she knew it, she had a sizeable community.

I know everyone kills off Starlight's mother, but I like to think that she's alive and well somewhere. Her mother is an important wizard, who unfortunately loves her work more than she loves her family, and often travels to distant places to study magic. Her mother would send her letters and postcards from the places she was at until Starlight moved out and lost all communication with her. While Starlight admires her mother very much, she's resentful of her for being absent during her childhood.

Starlight is very artistic and can actually draw really well. Hanging out with Rarity made her practice her artistic skills, and now she can do a decent sketch of ponies and things if she puts her mind to it.

Ever since she became Twilight’s pupil, she learned how to be more organized. Before she used to be very forgetful since she never wrote down what she had to do or kept track of important things. If she’d been this organized back when she was commanding her village, she would have been an even more formidable opponent.

Starlight never dated. Growing up she was very distrustful of other ponies, but she was more guarded around stallions. Nothing sets her off like a stallion making an unwanted pass on her.

Starlight doesn’t care about fashion; her sense of style could be summed up in the phrase ‘function over fashion’. Her closet is very bare, even compared to Twilight’s who shares some of Starlight’s tastes when it comes to clothes. She dabbles in makeup though, but her knowledge is very limited in that area too.

Hanging out with Pinkie Pie has aggravated her already very sweet tooth problem. And since her job is very sedentary, her weight gain is starting to show, much to her horror. This prompted her to start exercising more. Now she wakes up early every day to run around Ponyville before she has to go to work.

Unlike Sunburst, all of Starlight’s books are fiction. She likes novels, especially dark fantasy, filled with action and violence. The gorier the better.

When she’s sad or upset, she twirls and levitates stuff around her. It was the first spell she could cast successfully, and it was the first one that Sunburst taught her.

Now for the good stuff, some StarBurst headcannons.

When Starlight can’t sleep, she asks Sunburst to read to her. His voice is very soothing and monotone when he reads out loud, and since the subjective he reads is very boring to her, she falls asleep quite easily this way.

When they were little Stellar Flare used to joke that their kids would get married someday, Firelight didn’t think that it would ever happen. Since then they have had this ongoing bet that whoever was right would get fifty bits from the loser and full bragging rights at the reception. Firelight just lost those fifty bits recently and was a little grumpy at his daughter’s wedding.

Starlight is more athletic than Sunburst, he can run a little faster than her because he's taller than her, but when it comes to endurance, she has him beat. This comes in handy when she’s annoyed with him; she runs around while he chases after her until he collapses from exhaustion, but he still gets up and begins to chase her again.

Things were awkward for them at the beginning, but after the events of the Parent Map episode, they learned to relax around each other again. They started to write letters with more frequency, talking about more mundane and personal things, it surprised the both of them how much they enjoyed their correspondence and their bond grew from there.

When they hang out, they’re like a pair of excited middle schoolers on a sugar high. They’re loud, a little disruptive, and just so gosh damn happy to be around the other. Sunburst just talks her ear off about magic, and Starlight is more than happy to demonstrate what she’s capable of. The look on his face when she does magic is worth it.

They rarely fight, but when they do, brace yourself! They’re both in a very rotten mood until the issue is resolved. Starlight is a raging bull and will explode at the slightest provocation, you’ll be blasted to smithereens if you catch her like this. Sunburst goes very quiet and shuts himself away, but will bite your head off if you happen to bother him, pulling out every insult in the dictionary until you leave crying. This has only happened twice, and they never let their arguments get that bad after the second time.

Their first fight was caused by Starlight’s jealousy, her insecurities got the better of her and made her accuse him of a bunch of things he didn’t do. The second time it was Sunburst’s fault, he was so tired and stressed one day that he lashed out at her and she took it pretty hard.

They make up first by hugging the other from behind, as a measure to keep the other still so they hear what they have to say, and apologizing for their behavior. Even when all is forgiven and the air is cleared, they still stay cuddled and close for a while. Their both very touchy-feely ponies at heart.

Out of the two of them, Sunburst is the better cook. Having been on his own for so long meant he learned how to take care of himself, however, the recipes he can do are very limited. Starlight, on the other hand, is much more willing to try new things, even if they don’t always work out, but the times that they do, they’re very good.

Sunburst likes to hear Starlight sing, especially when he’s tired and she runs a hoof through his mane. He’s in heaven when she sings soft, nonsensical songs for his ears only.

Basically imma just make up an alicorn sibling for luna, celestia and discord cuz I remembered blueblood existed.

So like this sibling didn't become immortal or anything cuz of grogars magic being limited and starswirl using almost all of it, accidentally creating discord than successfully creating celestia and luna, than the fourth sibling (idk haven't thought of this part yet, ya'll give me suggestions) so despite the 4th sib never getting the entitlement of princess along with her sisters she still became an public figure, living in Canterlot instead of the castle. She met someone and had a family with him, than the bloodline continued on and so here's blueblood. He was born around the same time sunset shimmer was so they sorta grew up side by side.

Idk, but like Candace n Sombra in my AU are the best daughter father duo fr

Radiant Hops still left him tho, but her and the princesses check up on cadence so sombra don't teach her to be evil or something.

Nebula Wish and Prince Storm Heart!

yes Prince Storm Heart is Flurry Heart but adult and transgender, he goes by he/him only

Nebula Wish is the youngest of my alicorns-related-to-canon ocs!

Nebula is abroad with her mother, Twilight Sparkle, who had stepped down from leadership long ago to focus on taking care of her daughter. That being said, both Nebula Wish and Twilight Sparkle are not in the area that is being affected by the infection, and likely won't even know that there is one (I'm pulling every excuse to not write Twilight Sparkle in, she's an awfully overused character, and while she would still be alive in this universe, I just don't want to write her. I still made Nebs because I like. Nebula a lot. Fun to draw, not fun to write). OH!! also Nebula got her bright green scars due to an incident with mystic fire when she was a filly!!! Thankfully the magic organ that produces the cutiemark remained unaffected (alicorn magic and all that) so the scars have no effect on her ability to get one. It did give Twilight quite the scare though!

Prince Storm Heart (i like calling him stormy for short...) still, as his name suggests, is part of the royal family of the Crystal Kingdom, and due to the large focus on the medical industry there, the infection isn't as hazardous of a threat because they had the proper time to prepare for it. Whether or not he travels to Equestria to aid them in this dire time of need is up for debate. Princess Cadance is very against allowing her one and only son to travel to a disease-ridden land, as a mother should be, but Shining Armor is secretly supportive.

Aaaaaaa so I've been designing some colorful pony kids recently~ These are the Twinkie Twins, Sugar Nova and Starburst!

Below is a BIG infodump on them and other stuff!

It took both Twilight and Pinkie a long time to realize they wanted to settle down with each other. While Pinkie Pie was a lot more ambitious about it, Twilight, however, was much more hesitant. As great as it is to become an alicorn, it came with a bittersweet downside- Twilight would almost certainly outlive every pony she knows now, including her friends. This is something I want to dive into more another time, but it took a lot of time, meditation, and a touching talk with Pinkie Pie for Twilight to come to terms with this fact, and let her love despite it. They (and kinda Discord- I'll get to that in a second) officially started dating soon after, married, and had a (kinda) surprise set of twins~ One more thing I want to briefly talk about before talking about the twins is same-sex couples and having children. Spells for same-sex couples to have kids together have existed for centuries, but they tended to be very esoteric. The only documentation of the spells was in the Crystal Empire Library- which was imprisoned by Sombra for a thousand years, and therefore inaccessible. Even when The Crystal Library was open to the public again, the spells were old, imperfect, and almost illegible. Twilight and Sun Burst eventually take on the task of translating and perfecting these old spells- a project that ends up taking them years of studying and testing. By the time Pinkie and Twilight start talking about having their own kids, Twilight had just got done perfecting the spell~ thus, Sugar Nova and Starburst were born!

Sugar Nova (she/her) Eldest child of Pinkie Pie and Twilight by just a couple minutes! She takes her responsibility as the older sister very seriously, protecting him from the horrors of the world, sharing the last cookie with him, hiding under his bed with a bug bear mask to scare him occasionally, telling him he's a big nerd... typical older sibling stuff! Sugar is very loosely inspired from Bee from Bee and Puppycat, in that she tries her best to help everyone around her. Does it always work out that way? Eeeehhhhhhhhh See, being the daughter of Pinkie Pie, Sugar unfortunately inherited a "Pie" sense (all of the Pie family has this sense)- but with a twist. Sugar can sense when something is about to go wrong, but things only ever go wrong for her. If she gets a tail twitch, a piano is about to fall on her. If she gets a hoof tingle, a sinkhole is about to swallow her entire cart. Sugar has adapted well to this sense, but as you might expect it does impede her mission to help everyone from time to time. You might ask her to grab some apples for you, and she'll come back with a tree branch that fell on her head that may or may not have apples. But hey, free wood! Starburst (he/him) Starburst is just about the opposite of Sugar in every way. While Sugar prefers spending her days outside on adventures with new creatures, Star has a heart attack whenever you ask him to go to the grocery store. He loves ghost stories and other, impractical magic (similar to the kind of magic Zecora practices), and actually performs investigations on houses that may have ghosts pretty regularly! He's the ghost boi Growing up in a famous, eccentric family has done little to warm him up to strangers, as he much prefers staying out of the limelight and in his room where he can read his ghost stories. Star stays as close to the status quo as he can- eating same foods, wearing comfort clothes, and keeping his childhood friends close so he doesn't have to make anymore. He's autistic (and socially anxious), if you can't tell, but unlike Dragonfly Starburst was diagnosed early in his childhood. He's had the support of his family for a long, long time, and he's very happy. That being said... would it kill you to go outside more?!

You also might notice the odd aura around the fox Sugar is feeding as well. Yeah, it's odd! To summarize a very loving but complicated relationship- Twilight and Pinkie Pie have always considered Discord to be their partner, but Discord (being a being of pure chaos) finds it difficult to settle down, marry, and be dedicated to anyone. Twilight and Pinkie are alright with this! They got married, but Discord opted to just stay as their loose partner. He lives as a completely free, chaotic spirit and does whatever he wants with whoever he wants, but at the end of the day he still loves his girlies the most~ Because of this relationship, when Twilight performed the baby spell, there was a little, itty bitty bit of chaos magic that seeped into the twins. Neither Sunburst nor Sugar Nova have any control over this little bit of chaos magic. Instead, it manifests as weird "quirks" that they have. It's not pictured here, and Sugar always keeps it hidden (it looks kind of creepy), but she has a secret third eye covered up by her bangs. This third eye does not grant her more vision, but instead it gives her the ability to look at the "soul" of whoever she is looking at. These souls are normally not particularly interesting, but they do change color depending on the mood/mental state of the being themselves. Sugar can't see this with her bangs in the way, but moving them gives her easy access to a being's true feelings, helping her figure out how to help them. Starburst doesn't have a quirk that manifests itself visually, unfortunately. Instead, Star is able to sense magic (magical objects, unicorns, magical power, basically anything having to do with magic) in the most annoying way possible- headaches and eye twitches! This can be very useful for stuff like finding magical artifacts or pointing out a powerful magic user... but mostly it's just annoying. Walking around places like Ponyville (which has little magic) or Manehatten (which has a large population of magic users, but spread out across a large area) he feels nothing. But being near say... the alicorn amulet, or walking around Canterlot (a place that has a LARGE population of unicorns and magic in such a small space) causes him lots of pain and discomfort. Pictured in the bottom left corner, Star spends a sleepless night in Canterlot. ------ Gosh that was a lot. Let me know if that was too much? MLP Theory/Headcanon: Cadence’s Mother

Now when it came to MLP FIM royalty, easily the most underrated princess out of the four is Cadence. In show canon, she marries Shining Armor, rules over the Crystal Empire, and had Flurry Heart but that’s pretty much it. She gets more development in the supplement material such as the books and the comics. All the backstory that we had on Cadence was that according to the books she was found as a baby pegasus by an Earth pony couple, but she had a high tolerance for love and she defeated a sorceress with the power of love and Celestia found her and was transformed into an alicorn as Twilight was. She was then taken on as her niece and went to Celestia’s school. So she’s been labeled as an orphan until the comic Siege of the Crystal Empire, where it’s revealed that she could’ve been possibly related to Princess Amore, the first princess of the Crystal Empire.

Now it’s been stated that Cadence is “distantly related” to Amore, but going back through the IDW comics, books, and other material gives me an idea that Cadence could possibly be Amore’s long lost daughter, rather than a distant descendant.

1. Cadence’s Origins

So in the book Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell, Cadence finally gets an origin story and honestly gives us more information on Cadence than her entire runtime on the show.

Cadence was originally found as a baby pegasus in a forest

She was taken in by an Earth Pony couple in a nearby village and raised Cadence

As she grew up, her love and compassion had a positive affect on the villagers who were filled with warmth and an urge to protect her

A young Cadence defeated an enchantress named Prismia who was jealous of other ponies and took the love of the other villagers for herself

Cadence defeated Prismia with her compassion and Prismia vowed to change her ways and Cadence was magically teleported to the same “ascension” realm that Twilight was in with Celestia in the Season 3 finale

Celestia found Cadence and immediately took her in as her adopted niece and raised her in Canterlot

She found her special talent in spreading love which presumably got her cutie mark of her crystal heart

She was also a student of Celestia’s School of Gifted Unicorns and in her final exam, she made two Canterlot feuding families become friends

Yeah, 10 times more information on Cadence than the show, but the main points is that she was a baby pegasus found in a forest before being raised by Earth Ponies in the village, all the way up to her success against Prismia and her accession to being an alicorn and taken in by Celestia as her niece and moved to Canterlot.

2. Celestia and Cadence

Now Celestia took in Cadence as her own niece, and continued to raise her in Canterlot. Cadence studied under Celestia, went to her school and had her final exam as well as went to Canterlot Academy being the high school. Now Celestia met Cadence sometime during Luna’s banishment and continued to raise her and even officiated her wedding. The interesting word to note is adopted niece. For Celestia to regard Cadence as her niece or even adopted niece is that Luna would’ve had to have been Cadence’s mother or something happened to Luna and Celestia took Cadence in since she’s Luna’s daughter but neither of those are the case since Luna didn’t even meet Cadence until after her 1,000 year banishment so that’s off the table but not necessarily Cadence being an adopted niece of Celestia.

3. The Crystal Empire

Now the next step in Cadence’s journey is that after her and Shining Armor get married, they end up moving to the Crystal Empire, a kingdom that was cursed to be banished from existence over 1,000 years due to King Sombra. The Crystal Empire is where Cadence is most connected to: her cutie mark is the Crystal Heart, her magic is able to keep out Sombra like the Crystal Heart, one of the residence refers to her as the Crystal Princess despite being gone for 1,000 years. Show wise nothing gets elaborated on Cadence’s connections aside from the premiere episode, but there are some interesting things to take away from the premiere:

Cadence with her own magic surrounds the entire empire with a magical barrier that also serves as an illusion barrier that kept Sombra out of the empire

She’s stated as the new ruler of the Crystal Empire by her title of “Crystal Princess” to the Crystal Ponies

Cadence’s barrier is so powerful that Sombra got his horn cut off as he tried to get in the empire and he had to wait until Cadence was drained of her magic in order to get inside of the barrier

Cadence was able connect with the Crystal Heart with her cutie mark glowing as she visually sensed the heart

Now the interesting thing is that we get more information about Cadence in the Siege of the Crystal Empire comic by different characters. Siege of the Crystal Empire is about how Sombra returns from being destroyed following the events of The Crystal Empire and takes revenge on The Crystal Empire and is also tied in with Sombra’s origin story from the Fiendship comics. For Cadence, some information is learned about her:

She officially addresses herself as an orphan

Radiant Hope (a crystal unicorn who managed to escape the banishment of the Crystal Empire that happened over 1,000 years ago) noted that Cadence looked like Princess Amore who was the former ruler of the Crystal Empire before Sombra got to her.

The true antagonist of the comic, Rabia who is the leader Umbrum or Shadow ponies and Sombra’s mother notes that Cadence has the same magic as Princess Amore who was responsible for turning the Crystal Heart into a weapon and was the one to imprison the Umbrum ponies over 1,000 years ago and Amore’s magic is harmful to the Umbrum ponies (like how Cadence was able to harm Sombra with her magic barrier)

Now I bring those up because both Rabia and Radiant regard Cadence as being similar to Amore in terms of looks and power and they’re both over 1,000 years old and have seen and battled Amore in the past. 

3. Cadence and Amore Parallels

Cadence and Amore share similar parallels to each other outside of having pink/purple manes and being rulers of the Crystal Empire.

Both got their princess statuses at a young age as well as their cutie marks

Cadence got her status as princess and her cutie mark by defeating Prismia with compassion and love where she became an alicorn and got her cutie mark

Amore got her title as Princess for founding the Crystal Empire and using her love magic to fuel the Crystal Heart and she also got her cutie mark because of it

Both attempted to protect the Crystal Empire with their natural magic when the Crystal Heart was missing

Both are able to restore the Crystal Heart with their magic

Both have the same love magic

Both have love magic strong enough that is able to hold off the Umbrum ponies and harm them

Both ended up being physically affected by Sombra

Sombra ended up turning Amore to dark crystal and then shattered her body around parts of Equestria

Due to Sombra’s actions in the past, Cadence had to use her magic to protect the Crystal Empire and it physically weakened her

4. Princess Amore Backstory

To break away from Cadence for a minute, Princess Amore herself has an interesting backstory for a supplemental character. Her backstory mainly comes from The Journal of the Two Sisters but she’s also expanded upon in the comics, specifically Fiendship is Magic #1 and MLP Issues #34-37 Siege of The Crystal Empire. So from all of that here is an official timeline of events based around Princess Amore and The Crystal Empire itself.

A group of Crystal ponies began mining in the Crystalline Mountains up in Northern Equestria, where they came across cave of gems which ended up being the hoard of a dormant dragon. Since the dragon was dormant, the Crystal ponies saw no issue in taking the gems for themselves, one of which was the Crystal Heart. (The Journal of the Two Sisters pg. 96)

A young unicorn named Amore was a pony filled with love in heart and felt a connection with the Crystal Heart, so she used her magic to send her positive emotions into the Crystal Heart which spread across the land which became known as The Crystal Empire. (The Journal of the Two Sisters pg. 93)

Amore got her cutie mark which was a blue crystalline heart/snowflake and became the first ruler of The Crystal Empire as it’s princess

Centuries later, she meets a blank flanked Celestia and Luna who had recently been crowned and as Princesses of Equestria. The three princesses had good relations with each other and Princess Amore respected that Celestia and Luna were the princesses of Equestria who protected the lands overall, while she specifically ruled over The Crystal Empire. The sisters could call on Amore if they needed help and vice versa.

Amore enlisted aid from Celestia and Luna years later, when the Crystal Heart was taken by the former dormant dragon which weakened the Crystal Empire. Amore tried to use her own magic to stabilize the Crystal Empire, but her unicorn magic was completely depleted.

Celestia and Luna managed to get the Crystal Heart back from the dragon and she was replenished with her magic. As thanks, she announced the first Crystal Fair in honor of the occasion and everyone celebrated.

During the years, Amore protected the Crystal Empire from ongoing threats and trained her crystal ponies to be prepared for battle against threats so she created many spells and enchantments in the Crystal Caverns in the event the empire needed to be protected but those spells were protected by an enchantment by her own design

Years later, Amore and the Crystal Ponies faced an unknown threat known as the Umbrum ponies, shadow ponies that feed off hatred and fear. These creatures made their way to the Empire before and managed to get to the Crystal Ponies but Amore used the magic of the Crystal Heart to seal them away into a dimensional prison where they couldn’t escape and were said prison was banished to the frozen north outside the empire where the Umbrum couldn’t escape.

Unknown to her however, the Umbrum devised a plan by having one of their own infiltrate The Crystal Empire under the disguise of a pony, who ended up being a young Sombra who her guards found outside the empire passed out

Amore had her guards take Sombra to the Crystal Empire Orphanage and she kept a watch on Sombra due to knowing the truth about what he was

Amore encountered Sombra and his friend Radiant Hope looking at the Crystal Heart and told them that the Crystal Heart has properties that allow one to see their destiny and she believed that despite what the Heart showed them, they had the power to change their destinies. 

Years later one night, she encounters an older Sombra trying to steal the Crystal Heart and tells him that it’s not too late to change and how he doesn’t have to be like one of the Umbrum, revealing that she knew what Sombra actually was but hid the truth from him and made him suffer during the Crystal Fair due to the light and love destroying him.

For this, Amore was turned into dark crystal and shattered across Equestria due to Sombra’s anger and that was the last of Princess Amore

5. The Crystalling (not the episode but the actual event)

I briefly want to talk about The Crystalling but not the episode itself but more about the event in The Crystal Empire. From what Spike describes in the episode is that when a baby is born in the Crystal Empire, there’s a Crystalling ceremony held where a crystaller is chosen who picks out the purest shard of crystal and the light and love of the ceremony spreads throughout the empire. Now the one line that stands out to me is when Spike says this:

"And this is going to be a royal Crystalling, so pretty much the whole empire will show up. "- Spike, The Crystalling.

"That hasn't happened in millennia!"- Spike, The Crystalling

So what Spike is saying is that a royal Crystalling in The Crystal Empire hasn’t happened in a millennia AKA 1,000 years. This one fact has a few interesting notes about it:

According to Spike, a Royal Crystalling is when the royal family has a baby and they go through the Crystalling ceremony.

A Royal Crystalling has only happened once in 1,000 years

6. My Timeline/Speculation

So, I’m going to give a possible timeline and speculate how Cadence could simply be Amore’s “long lost” daughter and how she survived/escaped the banishment of The Crystal Empire. This would take place a bit before Sombra comes into play but at the same type during his time of growing up alongside Radiant Hope

A few centuries after the initial defeat of the Umbrum, Princess Amore ruled The Crystal Empire in peace as the Princess of Love, but she was lonely, she was always compassionate and was loved by her subjects and used her love to protect her subjects and strengthen the Crystal Empire but she never knew about personal love and relationships. She was close with the Royal Siblings of Equestria to the point where they were her “honorary sisters” but she never experienced love for herself.

Over , she ended up meeting a  visiting pegasus stallion by the name of Alto Harmony who came from a cloud city. He was a painter, who liked to take his time and enjoy the scenery and what he paints. Amore took a liking to him and enjoyed each other’s company, and eventually fell in love with each other. 

Due to not wanting to start a panic with her subjects due to being a princess, she had a private wedding and Celestia and Luna attended as Amore’s mare of honor and the two went on their honeymoon

Months later while her husband was visiting, Amore found out that she was having a foal, but she wanted to keep it hidden from the public 

To not raise suspicion, she uses an duplication spell, to create an duplicate of her current appearance to keep up appearances

Before she created her duplicate she was walking around the Crystal Castle and noticed a young Sombra and young Radiant Hope looking at the Crystal Heart and she encouraged them about destiny and choice

About a year later, Amore and her husband had a pegasus filly by the name of Mi Amore Cadenza, but Amore shortened it to Cadence and she was born on the day of the Crystal Fair (the same fair where Sombra started to get sick)

3 years later, little Cadence grew into a toddler and Amore and Alto agreed that it was time that the public knew of Amore’s relationship and the first Royal Crystalling

That afternoon the celebration was held and the Crystal Ponies were ecstatic with joy and Alto was crowned Prince consort to Princess Amore and due to The Crystalling and the Fair on the same day the light and love magnified across the empire (the same event which caused Sombra to nearly shatter and Hope saving him and earning her cutie mark)

The following day, Amore received word that Radiant Hope got her cutie mark and her special talent was in healing which was really rare for a form of magic and she sent a letter of recommendation to Celestia and Luna to take her under their wing to become a princess so that her healing magic could be put to good use but she held concern about Sombra and his destiny

Alto had family business to take care of in his hometown so he had to leave, and Amore’s maidens took care of Cadence while Amore had her royal duties to take care of.

That night Amore went out for a nightly stroll and saw a hooded figure trying to steal the Crystal Heart, but she knew it was a teenage Sombra and tried to reason with him about his destiny and bout how she knew about his origins but he was too enraged and activated his horn and before he blasted her, she used her magic to send a beacon to her maidens before she was turned into dark crystal

The maidens saw the signal and while the guards went to apprehend Sombra and Radiant Hope left to find the Royal Siblings, the maidens took Cadence to a magical stasis crystal where little Cadence was put inside along with a blanket with her nickname embroidered on it and once inside the crystal teleported off across Equestria

The Crystal Empire fell that day due to Sombra banishing the kingdom for 1,000 years and Celestia and Luna could do nothing to stop it

Celestia and Luna decided not to hide the loss of The Crystal Empire from their subjects

Meanwhile, Cadence’s crystal landed in a forest and turned invisible and remained there for over 1,000 years

Over 1,000 years later after Sombra and Nightmare were banished an earth pony village was formed by the White Tail Woods Forest, and an earth pony couple was in the forest and they stumbled upon the stasis crystal which revealed Cadence inside and the two immediately took her in to their village and raised her as their own

Cadence was raised from a toddler to a pre-teen and was loved by the villagers due to her compassion and love

Cadence defeated Prismia, though her compassion and was brought to the accession place and met with Princess Celestia for the first time

Celestia noticed Cadence’s cutie mark being a crystallized heart and her compassion for love had turned her into an alicorn and Celestia decided to personally raise Cadence as her adopted niece and had her live in Canterlot with her

Cadence was then Celestia’s pupil at the School of Unicorns as well as attending Canterlot Academy High School when she was in her teenage years

Cadence fell in love with Shining Armor and met a young Twilight Sparkle when she fillysat for her for the first time during high school

Cadence graduated high school and she helped out around Canterlot to help ponies find love in her young adult years

She got engaged to Shining Armor and the rest was history

So that’s my timeline on how Cadence was Amore’s daughter and escaped Sombra’s banishment of The Crystal Empire.

so i think together trees are trees that got a growth spurt from friendship activating the roots of the tree of harmony that i assume stretch across equestria. g5 mane 6 are the elements real. the tree of harmony was vaguely mentioned to be in a book a kid was reading in an earlier chapter, which might've been foreshadowing (or was just a reference for the sake of it)

Im guessing that this flower's.. gem? is some variant of the element of magic, it may not be a literal element, possibly some sort of weaker powered version since it didnt come straight from the tree of harmony, more like second hand element

its the right color and the lines in the center look to be Twilight's cm shaped-ish. I'll be honest I cant really tell if that's a gem, but considering it cut to that for the last shot of the ep while Elder Flower re-explained together trees makes me think it's special

Okay so current predictions/theories on who gets what element (and my runner up theories)

Sunny is probably magic (or generosity or laughter) - her cutie mark was literally unity, like helping ponies get along, and unity is arguably the same thing as magic, as magic is the 6th element that only appears when the others are united. also she's an alicorn. That being said, in mane smelody, she gets red crystal heart locket with a gold rim, the breezie who gives it to her says "it has long been waiting for a special pony, a hopeful pony, I believe you are the one" & "remember nopony is alone who has friends" - the locket looks almost exactly the same as the nonlocket gem turned necklace Spike gives Rarity in Secret of My Excess, which is lowkey treated like a symbol of generosity. But the line specifically mentions a 'hopeful pony' which makes me think it could somehow be related to the element of hope/laughter. but the second line may have just been reaffirming that her element will only work if she has friends - which again, would mean magic.

Hitch is without a doubt kindness - this gets brought up repeatedly, he's been described as kind multiple occasions to the point where it almost seems forced lol and he also has Fluttershy's cutie mark magic so that checks

Izzy is generosity (or laughter) - she gives out gifts very frequently and despite her personality matching with Pinkie, her actual talent of creating matches with Rarity far more - creativity was Rarity's element before they decided to make it generosity after all. She might just be laughter purely because of the Pinkie similarities though, which is not something I like, as I'd want there to be logical connections, not just that shes similar to Pinkie.

Misty is? loyalty? (or honesty, or magic) - loyalty because she had to switch sides, honesty because she had to learn her lesson to stop lying to her friends about Opaline, or magic because her cutie mark is because she has the potential for change. the change thing doesn't really fit with any of the others, but I could see her being magic because she needed the help of all the others to shine through and get her cutie mark - literally all the other elements had to appear before Magic did, also the tree with the potentially element of magic like gem is *technically* her tree. I'm mostly leaning towards loyalty for her, but honesty wouldn't surprise me. Magic would actually be the most interesting outcome, but I'm not sure they'd actually have anyone other than Sunny be magic.

Pipp is laughter (or loyalty, or generosity) - I had always though she was loyalty because she was the one who wanted to keep the royal's secret and she had a pivotal moment of being betrayed by Zipp at the party, and despite being very upset that Zipp just abandoned her, still left to help her. so loyalty absolutely makes sense, however, laughter doesn't really fit with anypony? Sure Izzy has the silly personalty but at no point is she going out of her way to entertain others like we see from Pinkie. But Pipp's entire thing is entertaining others - I feel like it is functionally the same as Pinkie's element, as laughter is also hope from the pillars, the ability to keep moral up. but laughter would be a frankly nonsensical element to give her without explaining that it also means hope? I doubt they're changing the names of the elements again, like what happened between the pillars and the elements, but if they did they could fix this. I really doubt she's generosity but she does have similar vibes to Rarity, ig you could argue that her doing other's manes and hooficures and singing for others is generosity? sharing her talents? idk

Zipp is honesty (or loyalty) - she was the one who wanted to tell the pegasi about the royal's secret, and frankly her main personality trait is being a detective, very honesty vibes. I could see her being loyalty but really only because she's similar to Rainbow. And frankly by this point, the only things she has in common with RD is they they're both tomboys who likes flying

I don't think they're going to change element names - but they could, feasibly. And it would make matching them to a new pony easier

Magic could be Unity, which is the focus of the current generation so it'd make sense. Like I said earlier, magic is basically already unity, as it only appears when the others have united.

Generosity could be creativity, it'd be perfect for Izzy and it was the original intended element for Rarity.

I have no idea what the others could be, short of changing laughter back to hope? talent maybe? expression?

Before the fall of the Crystal Empire, Celestia and Sombra had been secretly dating.. or not so secretly as the Empress of Love at the time Amore had secretly allowed them to go on dates with their third forgotten lover.... but when dark magic and umbrum matter got to Sombra this all changed.. until centuries later when Ambassador Spike retrieved the crystal heart and saved the kingdom fully from the wrath of he umbrum king and even the umbrum king of his ravenous nature.. which then caused the two ancient lovers to meet once again and turn over a new leaf slowly with time resulting in marriage and foals.

The eldest princess of the sun and the next in line for its throne, she's anxious, unsure and often feels like her mother is ignoring her issues, ideas and words.

Princess Helios

The second princess of the sun and a teacher at Canterlots Elementary, unlike the rest of her relatives she seems to have the least commonly royal job and could never be happier.

Been awhile since I uploaded new kids; here’s Shining Armor and Cadence’s various children!

Shining and Cadence's many children! I don't tend to like giving my next gens a bunch of siblings cause it's hard to keep track of everyone but honestly these two are totally the type to have a ton of kids. Here's some quick bios on them! Name: Flurry Heart (nicknames: Flurry) Age: Adult Pronouns: She/her Parents: Shining Armor and Mi Amore Cadenza Siblings: Frost Shimmer, Golden Hour, Cupid Cutie Mark: Protection Bio: The oldest of the four Crystal Empire kids and the only known pony to be born an alicorn, Flurry is kind and extremely protective of those close to her. Like her younger cousin North Star, Flurry also suffers from powerful bursts of magic though hers' are less frequent and intense. She makes trips to visit him Canterlot whenever she can to study their control issues (right now they think it may be a side effect of having an alicorn parent). Flurry earned her cutie mark when she and an injured Frost Shimmer got trapped in a blizzard outside the city and Flurry's protective magic was the only thing that kept them alive until help arrived. Frost also got their cutie mark in this incident and the two siblings are very close still. Flurry still feels extremely guilty for the loss of Frost's wing, though Frost has mostly comes to term with it. She doesn't always have much time to spend with Golden Hour and Cupid, in between her studies as heir of the kingdom and researching her magic control issues. Name: Frost Shimmer (nicknames: Frost, Frosty) Age: Adult Pronouns: They/them Siblings: Flurry Heart, Golden Hour, Cupid Cutie Mark: Determination, willpower Bio: The second oldest of the bunch, Frost Shimmer is quiet and thoughtful. They look up to Flurry with a mixture of admiration and a sense of rivalry, and tries to make themselves available as an older sibling to Golden Hour and Cupid when they can. They insisted on being a part of Flurry's personal protection squad and often travels with her to Canterlot; they're friends with Bowtie and will often grab lunch with him when Flurry is visiting North Star. They lost their wing when they were a child, when they and Flurry were playing outside the city and a burst of accidental magic from Flurry hurt their wing badly. Before they could get back for medical help, a terrible blizzard hit the area and they were stuck for hours. It was only thanks to Flurry's magic and Frost's willpower that kept them alive and they earned their cutie marks that night. Doctors would have been hard pressed to save the wing even if they'd made it to a hospital immediately but after the long hours in the cold there was no hope for it. Frost doesn't blame Flurry, but they hate being perceived as weak or needing to be coddled and so they joined the Crystal Empire Royal Guard. They're a personal protégé of Flash Sentry, who was one of the only trainers to take them seriously. Name: Golden Hour (nicknames: Gold, Goldy. She hates being called by a nickname though and usually insists on her full name) Age: Teenager Pronouns: She/her Siblings: Flurry Heart, Frost Shimmer, Cupid Cutie Mark: Photography Bio: The third born, Golden Hour is dramatic and loud and attention grabbing. She's can be a bit of a borderline bully because of how forceful her personality is, but she usually doesn't mean any harm. She and Cupid are studying abroad at Twilight's magic school, and Golden Hour has been trying for ages to be the queen bee. She knows how popular and admired Rain Shower and Sparkler are and often tries to forcibly insert herself into their friend group; Sparkler mostly just thinks she's funny but Rain Shower has very little patience for her. She will often challenge other students to random challenges and duels to prove her superiority and she usually ends up loosing, but she does it in such a dramatic and silly fashion that most of the students just think she's funny. Most of her in your face personality is a bit of a façade, as she's very insecure about wanting attention and being respected. She does feel self conscious being the third born and having such a small talent as photography compared to her older siblings regal presentations and powerful cutie marks. She and Cupid are very close though and she often will dramatically cry into his shoulder. He's probably gonna be a therapist when he's grown up Bio: The youngest of Cadence and Shining Armor's children, Cupid tends to get lost in the shuffle. It doesn't bother him too much, as he doesn't crave everyone's attention in the way Golden Hour does and his entire family dotes on him constantly. He is gentle and sweet and always willing to provide a listening ear to whoever needs it. He worships Flurry Heart, and often deliberately styles his mane in a similar fashion to hers'; he's actually very fastidious with his appearance and spends a lot of time on personal grooming. While Cupid is very good at listening to others and offering advice, he's actually pretty bad about being open with his own feelings and tends to bottle them up rather then be perceived as a burden. He's the most open with Golden Hour. Relationship with their parents: Flurry and Frost are closest to their parents, being the first born and generally needing the most attention (Flurry's magic surges and Frost's missing wing; that took quite a few years of physical therapy), but as their two oldest have become more independent Cadence and Shining Armor are able to spend more time with their youngest children. Or they would, if they weren't attending Twilight's school. They miss Golden Hour and Cupid terribly while they're studying abroad though and have a debate between themselves at least once a week whether they should just bring them home. As it is, they usually think of some random excuse to go visit every few weeks anyway. Relationships with each other: They generally paired off in terms of age. Flurry and Frost are very close, as are Golden Hour and Cupid. Golden Hour was DELIGHTED when her little brother arrived and started bossing him around as soon as he could toddle. Relationship with their cousins: They all generally get along, though Flurry and North Star are very close on account of having similar issues with their magic; Frost is similarly very protective of their nervous cousin. Morning Light, who is a teacher at her mother's school, thinks Golden Hour is hilarious and will often deliberately get her to go off on one of her loud proclamations in the middle of class. She's always willing to lend a listening ear to Cupid as well, though she usually has to trick him into talking about his feelings. Morning and Frost have something of a rivalry though, as Morning thinks Frost has a stick up their butt and Frost thinks Morning isn't serious enough. Fun facts: - Despite being the second oldest, Frost is the shortest! They are not a fan of this. They do also have the biggest wingspan though, to make up for it. - Golden Hour and Cupid are VERY tall, easily taller then most of the ponies in Twilight's school - Cupid is a year or two younger then Golden Hour! I tend to avoid giving my characters specific ages cause I don't want to bother with specific timelines but he's about 14 to her 16. God that was a lot of writing OTL This is why ONLY Cadence and Shining Armor get four kids

Okay so... On the topic of this post, I'm going to provide my reasoning for each pony species and design attribute because I wanna talk about them. If you got any questions, just ask.

For starters, their ears are obviously a blend between their original Mobian ones and the pony ears... But in Rouge's case they're just Bat ears because for whatever reason people forget Bat ponies exist when they turn these characters into ponies!

Anyway, another detail was trying to match pony species to each Mobian's main attribute. And it led to quite a few plot changes and alterations to their designs in general. So let's just start...

Sonic: Pegasus. This one I had directly based off of a legitimate MLP G5 Cover where the artist themselves showed the unshaded version and it was LITERALLY SONIC. So I made it as close as I could but added my own flair to it such as the peach muzzle and a fluffier physique (bc I draw all of my characters like that). If you don't know what I'm referring to for "Pony Sonic" look at these.

As for lore reasons, I took it as a direct competition with Rainbow Dash, his free lifestyle, and because Pegasi are naturally the fastest pony type.

Now there still might be the question on... Will Sonic become an alicorn if he goes super? My answer: No. I doubt he would, and if anything super forms were traded out for rainbow forms instead since during this timeline the elements of Harmony became the core magic relics, and the crystal heart itself is now the Master Emerald.

Tails/Miles: Pegasus. A bit of a lore explanation on this one, so buckle in. Have you noticed that Tails' wings are more fluffy and round, like Pipp's? Despite that most likely being a design choice, I've decided to twist this attribute into something more like a disability.

Wings that fluffy and not aerodynamic make those having them struggle to fly, as such it's a genetic mutation. See where this is going? Miles was bullied a lot for being unable to fly, just like Fluttershy. Then Sonic came around, got the bullies to back off, and Miles wanted to catch up to Sonic and thank him. And despite the blue blur already being far away, he tried to fly... And managed to! His flying style is actually quite different from the usual pegasus, focusing more on long strides than fast and quick flapping. He also figured out gliding in the air to conserve energy, too!

Knuckles: Earth Pony. Do I need to state the obvious that earth ponies are naturally stronger than the others? Besides, being the sole guardian of a powerful relic and seperated during the three tribe's conflict entirely made him completely unaware of the other races. In a way, his kind is similar to the crystal ponies who are all earth ponies with a special gimmick.

Knuckles did guard the Crystal Heart his entire life, so when the empire itself was about to lose itself to the storm he gave some of the Crystal's energy to create an identical replica to restore it.

However, he's had to repeatedly replace it because once the energy exhausts itself, it just kept shattering and threatening the storms again. Eventually though, pure love from the empire stabilized one of the replicated hearts, leading to them not needing the replacement unless for emergencies.

Amy Rose: Unicorn. So... You know how unicorns are known to be more magically competent? Well, what if I told you I placed certain strengths between the species and enforced Amy's character that way. She was originally seen as weak, but built up her strength and speed to keep up with everyone else. Although she's still a fortune teller at heart, she's incredibly skilled with her hammer and is surprisingly faster and stronger than the average unicorn, who are by comparison the weaker race physically.

Shadow: Alicorn. Now you might be asking... Why an alicorn? Two things: One; Ultimate Lifeform's gotta keep up his title and Two; If they wanted a pony who is both immortal and immune to all diseases besides being a bio-weapon, wouldn't you design them to be the strongest race out there?

The story here is rather simple; Shadow was created in a space colony to help cure his friend/older sister Maria, who had an incurable disease. Eventually, the royal guards caught wind of this and alerted the princesses, who ordered for them to storm the space colony and arrest EVERYONE who was involved. However, because Maria was so weak during the escape she unfortunately died before Shadow and her could've reached the pod together. Shadow was ejected out and sent down to Equestria before he could save her.

Eventually he was imprisoned as well after getting captured and remained locked away for 50 years before eventually getting released, but told to never speak of the incident nor interact with anyone else... Guess what happened afterwards.

Detour real quick because small rant... Why do people make Shadow an earth pony, unicorn, or pegasus but not an alicorn in general?! It's legitimately so fitting and it kinda frustrates me. And also... I understand the appeal of an earth pony Sonic because, well... He runs. He's the fastest thing alive and would make him direct competition with Rainbow because they're both fast. But also... Aren't earth ponies the most physically strong out of everyone? Pegasi are known to be the fastest, and even then this would make him even more tight locked with a Rainbow Dash rivalry. Think about it!

Anyway, back to Shadow. I don't get the earth pony take but I understand why because A. Sonic's rival and B. Being the exact same like Sonic in every way except speed which no it doesn't work like that. If anything, I think Sonic could hold up rather well against Shadow through quick thinking and movement while he relied on pure strength and power. Opposites by design, too. As for the unicorn take... What part of that screams "Ultimate Lifeform"?

Anyway. I rest my case.

Now, back to the other pony designs.

Rouge: Bat pony. Do I even need to explain?

Silver: Unicorn. Similar reason to Amy, except he didn't build up his physical strength or speed that much. He did still come from the future, however occasionally got stuck in the past due to the time travel schenagains. Also he was probably oen of the harder ponies to design because, well... Have you seen how little color his fur is? It's practically all white! I had to compensate by adding more cyan and yellow to make him more recognizeable than just eye color and cutie mark.

Also fluffy hair Silver... I love it when Silver's hair in human versions is soft and fluffy. It's adorable! :D

Now, how would this change the original MLP canon? Not too much, actually. If anything, these stories go on in the background during the Mane 6's adventures. But some things definitely intrude on some seasons and force the six to act and get involved, leading to them to meeting with the Sonic characters. Generally, depends on the threat at hand. Think of Dark Gaia being their first instigator to meeting, then the plunderseeds coming after because Harmony magic accidentally went haywire due to the Dark Gaia incident, leading to the plunderseeds finally being able to sprout, and they snag whoever has a ton of Harmony magic inside of them... Celestia, Luna, Shadow, and Sonic included.

Then Tirek comes around, leading to Sonic's squad to work together to distract him long enough so Twilight and her friends could figure out what to do, get everyone to safety, and avoid capture themselves.

Eventually their group falls, leading to a fight breaking out as Twilight's group goes Rainbow and begins to fight Tirek. But during this, one by one their own power-up disperses until Twilight is left, forced to choose to give up her stored alicorn magic in exchange for rescuing all of her friends, including Sonic's group. Then the final key, magic chest, yadda yadda.

Twilight's castle still has the original seven seats, though. Sonic's group functions more like a support friend group than part of the major group, and after this they went back to their normal adventures on the side.

The War still happened. Along with the Metal Virus. They don't talk about those.

Thoughts and Spoilers for MYM #8

Episode summary:  Oh no, Sparky has gone missing!! 

Hitch is frantic and the ponies are searching everywhere . . . but unbeknownst to them Misty is hiding Sparky right under their noses, in a supply closet in the Crystal Brighthouse.  Opaline has promised her a cutie mark if she brings Sparky to the dark castle, but wrangling the baby dragon is harder than it seems!  In the end Misty doesn’t succeed in bringing Sparky to the castle, but she does capture some of his dragonfire in a jar for Opaline.

General Thoughts:  Hitch’s connection with Sparky and his worries about whether he’s being a good “dragon dad” were very heartfelt.  I like that we see a male character in a nurturing, child-care role, which is still pretty uncommon. The B-plot with his friends getting in each other’s way was a little too simple for me (it seems like they should be past that) but it didn’t take up too much time so it’s fine.

Misty was the standout of this episode.  You can really see how being raised by Opaline has influenced her.  She will do ANYTHING to get her cutie mark, but she’s also naive and blind Opaline’s true nature . . . Misty promises Sparky that she will return him to Maretime Bay later, as though Opaline would ever let him out of her sight again.

Her return to Opaline, empty-handed (except some dragonfire caught in a jar) is heartrending as she crawls across the floor, practically hyperventilating.  The dragonfire super-charges Opaline’s magic, but not to the extent she wants, and she unleashes on Misty like we’ve never seen before, screaming at her and calling her useless.  This feels like a pivotal moment, where the scales start to fall from Misty’s eyes.  Up to this point she has always been solidly in Opaline’s corner--believing that she is the rightful ruler of Equestria, trying to bond with her, trying to make her proud.  But here she ends up crying in her room.  “For somepony made of fire, I’ve never met a heart so cold.”

Other random thoughts:

- I liked Hitch’s Batman impression.  And he even got Zoom and Thunder in on it!

- Misty managing an incredible acrobatic feat (dodging Sparky’s Home Alone traps), only to berate herself for her one mistake (tripping afterwards) was apropos

- awwww!

- I do feel Sparky is cuter in 2D (like the Tell Your Tale shorts) and 3D.  Like, I don’t find him repellent or anything, but I dunno, his face could be better.  I like his horns a lot, though.

- I really like how strong light shines through the ponies’ ears, just like an actual animal with a thin ear

- Zipp’s stressing me out by leaving the nail polish hanging over the edge like that

- Pipp: “Ooo, that is a good point”

Zipp, instantly: “Is it though?”

- Pearl, the dog!  I assume she’ll be a pet in a future playset

- Hitch tells the seagulls to search “the old defense factory”, which implies that CanterLogic did shut down.  I hope we get an update on what Phyllis is doing at some point.

- the dramatic lighting in Hitch’s Batman scenes are *chef’s kiss*

- Her body language . . . Awww Misty :(

- Opaline says it’s been “hundreds of moons” since she last saw dragonfire; I’m going to assume a moon equals a year because it would be odd for someone to say they saw something “hundreds of months ago”

- The texturing on this tar is just really nice.  Like it has that oil-slick patterning on the top and everything.  Also, both tar and feathers are being stored in the basement.  Oh animators, you so sly!

- Not only does Opaline’s horn and wings fare up, but parts of her body become opalescent 

- Opaline’s speech is incredible.  “Alicorns ruling like they were meant to.”  “No more of this equality stuff.”  “The citizens of Equestria should fear and love their immortal rulers!”  

- This is basically a deconstruction of G4, where that was the role of alicorns.  I remember there was a lot of fan speculation about Sunny becoming the new ruler of Equestria after the G5 movie came out, before there was other media.

- Poor Misty, Opaline was terrifying when she lashed out.  What a great villain though!

- I liked Opaline’s simple, impatient toss of her head to activate her magic scrying pool

- Oh noooo, is that a childhood drawing of Opaline?  Oh nooooo.

-he’s an alicorn now... i like to think he became a dark alicorn with dark magic by draining the energy of earth ponies, pegasi, and unicorns (in my hc alicorns get their magic from the power of all 3 subspecies) i imagine he hides it with his cloak at first and then when the mane six think they’ve beat him he reveals his wings and they’re like FUCK????

-he also has a shadow mane in the same style as celestia’s wavy mane

-so im very loosely going off the comics canon but not really, he’s not an umbrum, he was born as a unicorn. he was abandoned and put in an orphanage. his only friend was radiant hope from the comics and the two of them were romantically involved.

-sombra used to be extremely kind and caring. radiant hope was often mocked for her autism but he would stand up for her. he agonized over his abandonment and swore to be there for anybody in need. he tended to be stubborn and brash, but he had a massive heart and was very emotional. he aspired to become an alicorn from a young age.

-sombra had an interest in all kinds of magic since he was a foal. when he and radiant hope showed a lot of promise, they both applied to study under princess amore and passed. (they kinda parallel sunset and twilight in this verse perhaps?) 

-sombra ended up getting far more ambitious with his studies and would travel around the kingdom... until he found the dark crystal from the comics. it’s not related to the umbrum, but it held powerful dark magic. he dabbled in it, but soon he became entrenched in the art of dark magic and it slowly began to corrupt him.

-radiant hope could feel him slipping away. he still loved her, more than anything he loved her- but he grew more maniacal by the day. he began to lose himself and view the ponies around him as pawns. he became obsessed with control. he thought princess amore was holding herself back with her base magic, and therefore holding the kingdom back.

-she tried to stop him. she did everything she could, she tried to counter it with her own magic, she tried destroying his documents behind his back. nothing worked. she grew desperate and alerted princess amore

-amore sought him out, a fight breaks out, just like the comic shes turned to stone and broken into pieces, sombra claims the crystal heart and becomes the emperor. 

-radiant hope, desperate to save her husband, engaged in a duel with him. unfortunately, his dark power overwhelmed her. sombra asked her to join him- he didn’t truly want to fight her, he wanted to rule alongside her as empress. radiant hope felt tempted- she loved him that much- but she couldn’t. she wouldn’t. she fled and got the attention of princess celestia and luna.

-sombra got to work. he enslaved the empire and poured dark magic through the crystal heart. he extracted the 3 species’s magic with his own and absorbed them to become an alicorn. basically everything he did in the show he did here

-he created a failsafe spell that would make the entire empire disappear for a thousand years if he was defeated

-radiant hope tried to evacuate the kingdom as much as she could and was outside of the kingdom when it vanished. one of the ponies was princess amore’s son.

-radiant hope tried to bring back the kingdom on her own. she traveled far and wide trying to bring back her loved ones and save her husband, she still believed he could be saved. with each failed attempt, she became more frantic and daring. soon, she went off the deep end and became corrupted by her own magic. she disappeared from equestria, her corruption and fate unknown by the general public

-idk if u can tell but i want an ice king and betty type dynamic w radiantsombra hehe. they’re both corrupted and yearn for each other.

-idk abt him post season 3 but i want radiant hope to come back and shes like doing something insane and desperate to save him. im not sure what she does tho lol but i dont really wanna do what happened in s9 idk

Now for something completely different…

Yep, doing a book this time. I read this one a long time ago, but for the Re-Visit I’ve listened to the Let’s Read by Midnight Sonnet. There’s apparently an Audio CD version of it as well but unless I bought it I don’t think there is a way for me to listen to that. There is apparently some on Audible but I do not have a subscription to that. Either way, let’s review a story. 

Released on April 2, 2013, in between Seasons 3 and 4, we find Twilight Sparkle worrying about her role as Princess. When she looked through her library she found nothing. But Spike suggested doing something Daring Do did: ask someone with experience for advice. She tried the Mayor but she was busy but when getting a snack, Mrs. Cake suggests asking family. And family means Shining Armor and Cadance. But before that, an excerpt. 

They came to the rescue, putting on the long-forgotten Crystal Faire while Twilight searched for the Empire’s beloved Crystal Heart. When Twilight finally succeeded in recovering the precious, magical gemstone, not only did she pass her test, but balance was also restored to the stunning city.

Let’s forget that Twilight was trying to solve the problem on her own and when she screwed up it was up to Spike to actually save the day, thus why he gets “the brave and glorious” moniker and not Twilight. At the Empire, she finds them and asks for advice. Shining Armor failed trying to be uplifting but Cadance decides to give an example via story. For you see, she was just a pegasus living among Earth Ponies until a Sorceress named Prismia got a necklace that enhanced her negative emotions.

Cadance defeated her and earned her Alicorn Status. She also tells Twilight about the Crystal Heart Spell that will empower Twilight to become a great ruler. Let’s assume Cadance got it earlier in Season 3 and move on. Since the Crystal Heart Spell must be found since it is always different, Twilight figures she must find it. To help Twilight, Cadance gives her Sister-in-law the necklace she wore as a babysitter. The very same necklace that enhanced Prismia’s negative emotions and made her a villain. But if it is filled with positive emotions, it can be a benefit.

Spoilers, it’s being filled with negative emotions as when back in Ponyville asking for advice she’s receiving not really good ones for ruling a kingdom. She even snapped at Rarity trying to explain the Cosmic Spectrum that the necklace has. When they left, Gilda for some reason decided to eavesdrop. Spike pretty much revealed the secret meeting so anyone curious could have found out. And Gilda gives her own advice: do what you wanna do. You’re the boss so you make the decisions.

It also doesn’t help that her negative thoughts translate to voices empowering the Necklace with negative emotions. Twilight thinks she’s hearing voices, but these are likely her subconscious thoughts amplified by the necklace’s power. The same thoughts that pass through your mind briefly but don’t think anything of it. She even snaps at Pinkie Pie trying to help without realizing it. And thanks to Trixie and Gilda’s advice, Twilight goes to the Crystal Heart Library to try to find that Crystal Heart Spell.

Rarity noticing the Cosmic Spectrum put two and two together and figured she’s under its negative effects. They get the others while Twilight is at the Empire. Since she didn’t greet Shining Armor like normally, he got Cadance who figured out the problem and pointed it out to her sister. Now that Twilight realizes what’s up, she goes to find her friends to apologize. Luckily for her they were at the Crystal Empire and the apology leads to her finding the Crystal Heart Spell…

"Friendship is the creed. It has been from the start! It’s the only way to lead— with your Crystal Heart!"

So basically, it's not really a spell; it's common advice you would have normally taken if you weren’t preoccupied with finding a Crystal Heart Spell. With this in mind, Twilight tries some of her friends' ideas in Ponyville and that leads to all the numerous Holidays the Ponies celebrate because Pinkie Pie suggested adding more holidays. 

Overall, it's alright. This is a book clearly meant for kids so a lot of my issues won’t really affect them. My issues? Gilda and Trixie were seen as troublemakers when they had only three episodes in total. Heck, Trixie was apologetic in her last appearance so doing pranks isn’t really her MO. Cadence, noticing her sister is having negative thoughts, gives her a necklace that amplifies negative thoughts. Like did she not see this coming?

While not everything in this book would be canon to GLAB, Cadance’s origin definitely is.
