their sexual orientations and/or gender identities.
soulmates by fate/chance or by choice?
their hypothetical hogwarts houses, either traditionally speaking, so to say, or following the sortinghatchats method. (alternatively, if you'd rather: their alignment by dnd standards).

do they ever match in any way?
their own little way (or ways) to say ‘i love you’.
who's the “i wouldn't marry myself either” one, and who's the “i would marry you with parer rings” one? (alternatively: i'd marry you with paper rings vs. i'm rich. i'll get you a diamond)?

one to five tropes they embody or could pull off in an AU.

Tell me you wouldn’t do the same,” he demands. “Tell me to stop.”
His hand burns on your chest, an iron-hot brand of possession.
“John,” you breathe, because you don’t know what else to say. The look in his eyes is magnetic, drawing you in further still with pupils blown wide with want.
“Don’t stop.”

Not to just blatantly rip from my GR ramble from a few weeks back but I feel like what I said abt the nature of the gods in qt is relevant to my rambles about forgiveness, and if I was a more eloquent person I'd write about how it rings true to life as well, truer than most things
Obviously QT is known for its masterful narrative and plot twists and incredible characters, but also over my last few rereads I've also been realizing that it has perhaps The Best romances and portrayals of faith as well? They're unconventional portrayals certainly, and at times maybe uncomfortable and disconcerting.
But QoA always reminds me that it's Peak Romance and Faith as well - to me at least. It's a relationship so specific, so strange and terrible that it could never be replicated with anyone else, should never be replicated, and yet it's perfect for these people, it's Good and Wonderful and tbh I think all good relationships in fiction are like that - highly unique, un-repeatable, specific to the characters involved.
It's also about the ineffable and inexorable divine will, the terrible grace of the gods. Eugenides' relationship with his gods compels me deeply. Though it takes up relatively little page time, it's a through-line in the series and there is something about divinity as both beauty and terror, something True at the heart of it that most representations of faith (whatever the creed or religion) miss. (Not to always be harping on the same point but it's the Mary Doria Russell, the Til We Have Faces, the Man who Was Thursday, the Thara Celehar, the Donna Tartt and Flannery O'Connor, the Graham Greene and Evelyn Waugh of it all - the terrible awe-ful face of god. I am haunted by RoTT and 'he can bear his god a little longer'.)
Man oh man. Geez MWT, who let you be a master at intrigue plotting AND familial&friendship relationships AND romance AND world building AND faith AND having some of the most compelling characters with the longest staying power in my heart&mind? I've never loved any piece of art as long and as intensely as these books.

no one asked for this but i have this hc where tanaka and kiyoko have a daughter, right? and by proxy, given that they invented bromance, noya is an uncle to her. he would commit crimes for that child and this means he will protect her belief in santa claus with his life. also because he once accidentally revealed to his little cousin that santa's not real and he still feels kinda bad about it, so there's that. anyway one day he's talking to someone, and the topic comes up, and noya goes and says, “yeah i accidentally revealed santa's real location to one of my cousins once so my lips are sealed this time around.” because tanaka and shimizu's daughter is right there. and y'know, she's her mother's child, she's sensible. so to her, the explanation perfectly adds up because, and i quote, “uncle yuu has traveled the whole world for many years, of course he met santa claus once.”
so. yeah! :)

do u ever think about
geralt and vil walking the gallery of glory, talking about history and shit, spewing metaphors back and forth (fucking children), until they get to lydia's painting? and what did lydia paint? another historical event? no. ok but surely it's a piece about something important to the creation of the chapter, to the might of magic, the rise of sorcery? NOPE, the little piece of shit went and painted an ancient love legend.
legendary lovers, torn apart and destroyed by the time of contempt.
holy shit i mean can you be more obvious, lydia??? CAN YOU?????? wanna put it in fucking neon lights????!!!!!! 'fuck your history hallway here's foreshadowing in the shape of a painting, a tragic love story that is clearly a metaphor bc imma die for love today lol'

Once again put my foot in it + was TOO vulnerable and open and overly honest + got caught up in the passion of the Ideal, the devotional fervour, the challenge of testing the boundaries of mercy as an act of faith
I should just!!!! Stop!!! It's masqued in language of virtue and goodness but it is just my own navel gazing, my own selfish desires for being seen and understood, my own self righteous pride at 'seeing' what other ppl don't!!! like!!!
