genya's story is so good???? I'm finishing up the light ending, and I can't get over it.

readmore for ✨spoilers✨ for his route, I just want to gush a little

besides his admitted attempts to convince the mc to just cut loose from shinobi life, he's one of the few I've read who hasn't tried to manipulate her life and I love that for him.

all of these oshu boys are drinking their 'respect women' juice

he's proooobably one of my favorites now.

also his big brother vibe just makes my heart warm and fuzzy, from a big sister pov.

episode 14, the final struggle??? fucking killed me. Gen vs Saku and then Gen is ready to kill his little brother, to save him from the chains of iga and the rules???? ahhhh! 'I'll make everything better for you'???!!!??? MY HEART (also I absolutely adore masanari but I'm mad at him for being such a little shit in this story)

it makes me so sad to know he spent years of his life suffering about being a ninja. and he only stayed for Saku.

overall this whole route gets a 12/10 and I absolutely love him. I have more thoughts but I'll wait until I replay him.

Scene 1:

You are working on improving a medicine.

Oh no, you run out of herbs!

It looks like it's going to rain soon...

You must hurry if that's the case.

As you rush down the steps, your leg gets caught on something-

WHAM!

And now you've got grass in your mouth-

Scene 2:

It's a bright day and you're playing catch with Oboro.

Genya is sleeping on the porch.

Oh no, you accidentally throw the stick towards a broken beam-

And, believe it or not, the wooden part falls off.

Perhaps the dwelling needs some repairs...

Scene 3:

It's late at night.

You and Gen are sleeping on the futon with Oboro in the middle.

You're all woken up by a truly annoying buzzing noise.

"Freaking mosquitoes!"

"Could you close the shoji-?"

"WAIT ONE OF THEM IS ON THE FLOOR-"

(If you're wondering how the mosquitoes entered, that's probably because of the holes in the main entrance.)

Other observations:

The walls are damp.

There's definitely a mouse infestation.

The place needs urgent repairs.

Please find a better place to live in. It's very unsafe for human inhabitants as well as the dog.

why eitoku does what he does. he sounded like ikesen kicho when he said his ultimate goal "is to create a beautiful world". he's twisted sure but in the end he seemed like a desperate child of Darkness wanting to end the dark world of shinobi forever. He and Iori. I am glad we arrived at some sort of a closure.
