Day 225:

Jake definitely had a tough time several of the days he was here. Panting a lot, heavy breathing, not eating much. It’s a shame, and my parents came home early to take him back and get him back to schedule with the medication. We did our best but there’s only so much we could do. We think he’s better off and breathing easier staying with them. I hope he gets a bit better with food and breathing there. I miss him terribly but it was wonderful to have him stay with us at least one more time.

I haven’t posted about this yet, but after my partner and I got Married earlier this month, we brought home a kitten. His name is Fionn (Fionn Mac Cumhaill, leader of the Fianna) and he is the most rambunctious lad we have ever encountered. Here are some pictures!

Also, if you'd like to help an American family with a disabled autistic dad recovering from covid, and a baby born under lockdown in the Philippines, who are currently caught between the bureaucracies of two countries, please see my pinned post or the links below.

The short version is that due to a paperwork snafu on our daughter's birth certificate, she is currently stateless. They're telling us it may be the middle of June before it's fixed, which is when we can START the process of getting her a passport and added to my disability, but our visas will run out before then. Immigration has already extended our visas until March (ten months past the usual limit), and said they won't extend us again.

Unless we can change their minds, we have to either a) come up with around 12K USD for a different kind of visa (and that will only let ME stay with El while we get her citizenship sorted, because Zoey doesn't qualify for it), or b) leave the country without our daughter before March. As of Wednesday, Dec 15, 2021, we’re a little more than a quarter of the way there.

Day 184:

Despite being unwell, Jake has mostly been in good spirits. He has been ‘coughing’ (sounds similar to retching but without being in the ‘throwing up’ position) a lot and sleeping more and panting occasionally, but otherwise he’s mostly his vocal little self. We’re doing all we can to keep him comfortable and content.
