Why I like them: She’s brave, she’s rowdy, she’s rude, she’s hilarious, she’s so perfect and a subversive character with a really unique presence, both in gintama and in all the media that i’ve read outside of it, too. I really like how Sorachi took the Warrior Race trope and really expanded how it impacted her? Like, the way that Kagura learned to balance self-control and the love of fighting that’s inherent to her clan, and overcame the cycle of violence that that clan history pulled her family into is really powerful, and Kagura’s character really shines because of it

Why I don’t: I really couldn’t handle the fake illness arc. watching gintoki just. hurt.

Favorite episode (scene if movie): The umbrella episode!! But also the one where she’s doing radio exercises with that one kid

Favorite season/movie: Yoshiwara in Flames!! It really re-contextualized exactly what Kagura meant when she said ‘i’m going to fight so that I can change’ in the first episode, and really upped the ante for her personal struggle

Favorite line: “Planet Earth is a star of freedom. Here it is okay to live how you want.” (Just. The wisdom that she’s earned by her own struggles that she’s now imparting onto Nobume??? Its just. Finally, some good fucking food)

Favorite outfit: All her outfits are so fun? So I’ll pick three. In no particular order its the Rakuyou outfit, the yoshiwara in flames oufit, and the benizakura arc outfit (which is the one i draw her in the most) shoutout to her Glasses arc outfit too
