The old Faceup was character specific for one of my wife’s dolls, but she never used the open eyed head and agreed to let me sell it (she kept the romantic head).

For anyone interested in ASAI Mira (see my last few posts), there is a tan head in stock on ASAI’s Taobao.  The shade is supposedly matched to Soom’s Serin/ Rico tan, so you could pair the head with one of the Chinese-sculpted bodies that have colour-matching options (Shoushoudoll and Akagidoll are the only ones I can think of off-hand that offer colour-matching to Soom without having to send a part in for their reference).   

As for other resin colours, I wouldn’t be surprised if ASAI opens another pre-order for Mira next year (with the upgraded headcap that she used for Murphy).  I’ll be on the lookout!

A couple of face ups for my wife on her Soom MD Rico/Serin heads to be her kirin pirate captain character. She allowed me to place some non-permanent piercings which I think really add to this sculpt. 

I tried out again the Citadel Munitorum Varnish as sealant, but I just can’t befriend it or see myself using it for commissions. It doesn’t have as much tooth as MSC and takes more layers of color build up to get the same intensity as MSC in 1-2 layers. Maybe I need to spray lighter layers? I don’t know yet, I’ll keep experimenting on my own dolls to see if I can get the hang of it.

Soom recast anon here, I ended up buying the head and luckily got in contact with some of its past owners to talk about authenticity. It’s an old head but comes from a long line of strictly pro artists so I’m not too worried. Many people told me to look at the boldness and legibility of the markings in the headcap. They look good to me but I wanted a second opinion, what do you all think?

(It’s a little dirty since I haven’t gotten a chance to clean it out yet and the serin looks slightly damaged, but does it look authentic to you all?)

A friend of mine from DOA surprised me today with a beautiful SOOM Serin head as a belated Christmas present. ❤️ I've loved Serin / Rico since her first release in 2010, and have always regretted not joining a split years ago. I feel very blessed. 💐 Not to mention excited!!! Anyway, please help me welcome this cutie as she hovers in a "ceremonial" unicorn life preserver. 😂 She will most likely be a hybrid, once I figure out which body I'd like her to use.
