I’ve got a few opportunities available for people who might want to attend my upcoming Dismantling Beauty Culture retreat, but might not be able to afford it. The first opportunity is for a yoga teacher—in exchange for teaching a class at the retreat in the morning and helping with a bit of light kitchen work, I'd like to offer a $180 ticket. The second is for a low income ticket of $250. I want as many people to be able to do this retreat as possible. Of course I need money to survive, but I believe that the work that happens at the retreat, of reprogramming our minds (and subsequently creating a new culture that is free from the tenets of the old, dark paradigm) is so critical to our collective well being, that any chance I get to put on an event like this I want to take it, because I don't always have access to use the space that this is going to be held in. Lastly, if you can't attend this time but would like to make a donation to this project as your way of supporting this work, it is possible to make one via e-transfer to [email protected] (any level of support is received with deep respect and gratitude). The registration deadline has been pushed until the 19th, so if you want to go with any of these options, please let me know before then. It's a precarious balance working as a reality hacktavist within capitalism—complying with the technospheric constructs of the current monetary system, without the same sense of rigidity that is typically socially enforced—the tools of the masters house can, indeed, dismantle it!

Image: Controlled Response, 2016 A video installation projected above a plinth, bearing 3 lipsticks with x-acto knife blades protruding from them. The video is of a woman, putting on pink lipstick using her iPhone selfie camera. Written in pink lipstick on the plinth, are the words, ‘If you have been conditioned to view the mediums of fashion and make-up artistry as trivial (along with the women who use these mediums), this automatic response is a testament to the very power these mediums hold: to control the subconscious perception of the viewer.’

Modern Mystic Sister (Book Excerpt)
Dear sister,
My new year’s resolution is to publish my book (or at least get closer). Therefore, I can’t think of a better way to start this year than to share a piece of my book Path of Sacred She with you today. This excerpt is from Chapter 4, Modern Mysitc Sister. Enjoy!
Tumblr media
I found an ancient Goddess
lying in the sand
she was chipped and broken
I didn’t know her name
yet there was a song, a stir, a murmur spun about her
how I longed to understand
how I wanted to make her story whole
I travelled the earth to get to know her
I asked the scholars and the professors
who is she?
they shrugged their shoulders just like me
With clay and imagination did I try to rebuild her
adding limbs and a face
but the result was ugly and wrong
I washed the clay away
I asked her, but the stone was silent
I cried and shook her
I told her I needed to know
At last I put her on my altar
just as she was

Sister, let me tell you a secret. With loss comes freedom.
The freedom to reinvent and redesign. To not walk in the footsteps of old. To stray away from the path, into the wilderness, and discover.
Let me tell you another secret. The loss of traditions isn’t something new. It is the deep universal way of change and renewal. It makes us human. It makes life.
Tumblr media
So how will we reinvent ourselves as Sacred She’s in a time when the structures of many old traditions have crumbled and we have access to the inspiration of thousands of religions and cultures from all over the world?
Every sister must answer this question for herself. I offer the Path of Sacred She as a source of inspiration. As something to mix and mingle with your personal path, who you are and ultimately create something unique for you. I offer it as a starting point to explore life as sacred in a woman’s body. To view ourselves, our bodies and our lives as sacred. To rise up in dignity and self-respect, and to marvel at the female body and the magnificence of the divine, inside and out.
I offer it as a path to be a student of your own mystery.

❤With my favorite set of luggage @delseyofficial here at @flylaxairport.  Besides, their logo is the “BA” symbol in Baybayin, so naturally, I gravitated towards their brand for my travel needs. _ 🌿“BA” is a fertility symbol that may have its origins rooted in the lingling-o. It is Divine Feminine and represents the yoni.  Babae (meaning “female” or “woman”) in Tagalog, and Bai in Bisaya, all contain the sound “Ba.” _ 🌿For more information and references on the spiritual meanings of Baybayin (one of many ancient scripts), go to Baybayinalive.com. @bahala_na_21st_century _ 🌿I also highly recommend in consulting with or learning from @kristian.kabuay. _ #travelpost #luggage #ba #baybayin #delsey #travelblog #travelblogger #herbalaria #iamherbalaria #philippines #lax #losangeles #traveling #travelgram #logo #logodesigns #bossbabe #ladyboss #pinayentrepreneur #divinefeminine #healersofinstagram #goddessvibes #spiritualjourney #spiritualfeminism #feminist #babae #pinay #branding (at Tom Bradley International Terminal - Los Angeles International Airport) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4pW_BfgOej/?igshid=1iom2ryx8qwbv

Dark Soul Sister - Poetry by Nancy Hanlon
Dear sister, tonight is the waning quarter moon and All Hallow’s Eve. We celebrate this with a guest poem written by the marvelous Nancy Hanlon.
Dark Soul Sister
Fear not the light of day.
Fade not into the darkness it is not the abyss.
It is the fertile ground waiting for growth.
Plant your seeds with intention and let go.
Let your seedlings come towards the light.

Dark Soul Sister
Own your rage, your fear, your grief,
Crawl, Creep if you must.
Yet remember you were born to fly.
You were born to Soar with the Joys and the Sorrows of Life.
Dark Soul Sister
One of primal, raw beauty.
She weeps for the new world.
She rages at what has been.
She is her own gatekeeper.
The deathening vibration of silence lingers on her breath.
I see, the fire in her eyes, the lighting of passion in her hair.
Her thoughts, her words are bounding spells of prisons or gateways to her freedom.

Dark Soul Sister
You are the dark and you are the light.
Allow your ancient wisdom to flow in the here and now.
My dear dark soul sister
Your Soul did not ask permission.
You were open to this journey.
It is deeply etched in your Cosmic DNA.
It touches the hollowness of your bones.
In the darkness be willing to remember you are the light.
Let it envelop you.
Let it touch the deep seeded knowing of why you are here.
Connect with Nancy here.
