Not sure how Twitch etiquette works because I've never interacted with that side of the internet, but wouldn't this just be a convoluted way to raise funds for a good cause? Rather than putting some kind of link and a simple "donate!", he's motivating people to actively participate in the fundraising process by acting as a middle man of sorts.
