Daenerys
despite what others may think, i do genuinely like her. the thing is i’m only critical about her narrative because i’m tired of having to explain why i’ve always thought her storyline was never one of a hero. i saw her descent into a darker end a long, long time ago and that is actually one of the main reasons why i love her character. it’s such an amazing twist and such a realistic look into how power corrupts. we rooted for her, loved her, wanted her to do better than the people who hurt her, but in the end, she became lost in her search for a ‘home’ and mistakenly placed all those desires into the iron throne. she is truly a fascinating character in that respect.
while her fall in the show was not surprising (as i said, i always expected it), i do think S8 did her so dirty. as it did everyone, let’s be fair. but seriously, her descent into madness... it was done in a way that just didn’t make any sense? i feel like they rushed it and just wanted to film a spectacle of dragons burning king’s landing rather than actually do her character justice. i always thought her fall from grace, so to speak, would have come in a different way, like violence to attain a goal. violence and disregard for the culture/people of the place she’s conquering, which is in line with how she’s always acted, rather than pure violence based on an emotional response.
i don’t know. it felt cheap and... unsatisfying. like the narrative conclusion was unearned. we’ve seen her enact her own form of violent justice in spite of what’s been advised of her. we’ve seen her angry and violent retaliation against people she considered her enemies. and all of that had been “fine” when against slavers, etc., but in westeros, she was a conqueror, not a saviour for the first time. there should have been more conflict. there should have been some sort of action that caused harm or even death to characters we have come to love. her just raining hellfire on faceless civilians in a belated response to missandei’s death was wrong. it didn’t make sense. if you wanted to really show her breakdown into madness, at least do it right. i know i say this all the time but the best case of this is azula’s descent into madness in avatar the last airbender. that’s how it’s done.
welp.
sorry for the long-ass response hahaha
send me a celebrity, idol, tv show, movie, book, ship, ANYTHING, and i’ll tell you what i think of it

sugarbabytheo mentioned you on a post “Joe Biden said he had no empathy for millennials and I'm going to have...”
@eleonoraditoledo oh let me clarify if they refuse to vote they are demons and I hate them but it won't solely be Bernie bros refusing to vote. It will be the regular old democrat who is not at all inspired by Bidens plans to do... Something... And just won't make it to the polls. It's also frankly the DNCs fault for this mess of a primary, refusing to even try to appeal to progressives, and creating a candidate that is a walking fucking gaffe.
Who cares about him being a walking gaffe, though?  Is this news?  When he was a heavily supported VP, was this news?  Going against Trump, is that anything?
Neither of them are my pick for winning.  I have zero confidence in Bernie’s ability to beat Trump, because he is running a 2016 election game in 2020.  It is not the time for viva la revolucion, because that didn’t work when we had a somewhat normal playing field.  Nothing is NORMAL now.  Which is why the DNC is running someone they think will appeal to normalcy.  And again--why go for a voting base that never turns out?  That is why they aren’t appealing to progressives.
What they are doing, and what Joe has excellently while Bernie scraps speeches appealing to black voters and attempting to identify with them, is appealing to the people who do turn out--older voters, black voters, middle class voters.  And voter suppression does play a role in keeping voters from getting to the polls.  But again, black voters, easily the ones most targeted by voter suppression, are the base that saved Joe’s ass.  And they were the ones who really hit against Trump.  That is the base that has historically made it or broken it for Democrats, not young voters.
I’m not saying it’s right, but I’m saying that this is not the election where people care about us.  Because we sure as fuck didn’t care about ourselves when everything was on the line in 2016.  We stayed at home because it was hard, or because Bernie wasn’t nominated (never mind Hillary being far more well-rounded than Bernie, never mind her being a historic candidate in her own right), or because why not??  Jill Stein???
Democrats do not vote with their hearts, in my opinion.  Democrats vote with the trend--to be exact, the trend of their generation, which is one reason why we have division.  I get what you’re saying, and I’d agree that we need more than two parties, but this is not the election for that.  Democrats do not coalesce in anger or outrage, as Republicans have ever since Barack Obama was elected (which is why Republicans keep winning).  We have not had a true cult of unifying personality since Obama, and Bernie has done nothing for party unity since--which is probably a big reason why the DNC keeps going after him.  Unity is the only way this party will win, and he’s not going to do that.
Just.... imo.

Cannot believe the show was literally called breaking bad and people are still like Vince Gilligan wrote Walt like the hero. Just my random brba thoughts.
I’m less surprised by it than I used to be, now that I know certain other characters can burn an entire city, including children, and show absolutely no remorse for it, and yet people will still call you a “hater” if you write her as a villain in your fic.
So I mean, yeah of course people still think Walt was a hero lmao.

sugarbabytheo replied to your post: just like…the way the second season of barry makes...
I think the scene with Barry’s first kill is Soo damning. bill somehow makes Barry look like a child and he has clear mental issues and they’re all praising him like he won a ball game for murdering three people. And meanwhile the class assumes that Barry hysterically cries while his teammates hold him. It’s utterly brutal
oh absolutely. the cuts between what actually happened and the acting class's assumption of what happened - which is based entirely on popular american military narratives - is extremely well done. and i think season 2 does a great job in general of showing barry's trajectory from relative innocent to cold-blooded killer as something that is something that is both done to him and he does. like...on the one hand, he's being groomed by fuches, pushed in that direction by his fellow soldiers, and encouraged at every turn by people who want to take advantage of his ability to be violent. and on the other hand, he's always the one pulling the trigger. he learns violence, and he learns to be afraid of consequences, and the combination of those things in his hands is as tragic and destructive as it always is.

Pls explain the murder tho that sounds fascinating
spoilers for the new Netflix true crime doc Don’t F**ck with Cats under the cut...
it’s about the 2012 murder of Jun Lin in Montreal...
it’s mostly focusing on the killer Luka Magnotta and the internet sleuths who identified him and helped find him. the murderer dude is truly on other levels of insane and fucked up (which you can probably tell from the title), but the internet sleuths are pretty damn incredible.

Cersei Lannister
a queen. a badass bitch. a sassmaster.
while she is soooooo not a hero, i love her. i just love her in every single way. she’s not evil for evil’s sake nor is she particularly evil for her own. everything she does is really some misguided attempt to protect or avenge her children. they call her the “mad queen” but honestly, i dont think she was mad (in the ‘crazy’ sense) at all. for all of the things she’s done, cersei has always been very rational about her actions. sure, she’s vindictive and angry 99% of the time, but she’s not crazy. she knows what she’s doing. she knows exactly why she’s doing things. there’s always been purpose to her actions even if said actions are horrible, horrible things.
she’s just so unapologetically her. and i love her for it.
AND AGAIN S8 DID HER DIRTY. TO DIE LIKE THAT???? PLEASE. THAT’S WEAK. WEAK AF. AND CERSEI LANNISTER AINT NO WEAK BITCH.
god i hate s8.

sugarbabytheo replied to your post: okay I get that all of y’all want Bernie to be the...
I can’t see Biden getting more moderates to the polls that HRC… And I can’t see Bernie getting down the ticket….. So.. m
yeah but you’ll vote for biden if he gets the nomination because you’re aware that if trump gets another four years everyone is fucked
that’s the point lol
i actually do think that biden has more appeal to moderates simply because he’s more fiscally conservative than bernie, and i tend to find that most moderates i know (which is a lot) dgaf about social issues and are more concerned with the way the money is being handled
biden’s definitely more fiscally liberal than they’d like, but he’s not as far left on that front that bernie
neither of these things matter in an electability argument imo, because both candidates have issues with electability to the point that it’s a toin coss, but i’m voting democrat no matter what
