My Top 9 albums of 2023

I got tagged by @blmpff. thank you 💕

I listen to mainly kpop. So i guess this is my favorite kpop albums of 2023. And my spotify is heavily tied to stationhead for listening parties so it's very biased and unreliable.

First off: Ateez and their 3 EPs they released this year stole my heart and overtook SKZ.

Halazia from Ateez's Spin off: From the Witness was a mini EP. This started my year as they literally released it Dec. 30, 2022 so I didn't add the album cover up there in the top 9. I was also still lowkey freaking out as I had got to see them in concert Nov. 2022 and they had Xikers (pre-debut) perform with them. And I watched this music video way too many times.

1. Outlaw - Ateez. This is a no skip album. I love every single one of these. Don't make me choose a favorite.

2. The World EP.FIN: Will - Ateez. I picked one of my favorite group songs off this but their unit songs are amazing: Everything- Jongho and IT's You (Yeosang, San, Wooyoung)

3. Dual - The Rose. I got to see them TWICE this year: Sept & Oct. 2023 and had a BLAST. This album is amazing. Also I really liked the album cover.

4. Rockstar - Stray Kids. Another no skip album. I got to see SKZ in March 2023 for their Maniac tour. And Mr. Bang keeps me delulu on Bubble.

5. 5-STAR - Stray Kids. [hehe fitting] Another no skip album. My number one song was obviously S-Class. Superbowl shook me to my core. And then they made me cry with Youtiful.

6. Deadlock - Xdinary Heroes. They spelled out FUCK YOU in their title song Freakin' Bad.

7. The Name Chapter: Temptation - Tomorrow x Together. I saw TXT in May 2023... It's an EP of 5 great songs.

8. Dark Blood - Enhypen. My vampires. I literally made a BL gifset to the lyrics of their song Bite Me. Another favorite: Chaconne.

9. House of Tricky: Doorbell Ringing - Xikers (and also their other EP: How to Play) I got to shanty (Tricky House) with them pre-debut. I love their concept too. Also Tricky House some how made it in my top 15 songs for 2023.

Honorable Mention:

FML- Seventeen. There's just something about this album I like.

The Name Chapter: Freefall - TXT. Solely for Blue Spring being on it.

SKZ Replay: I also hold this close to my heart as it was a christmas gift from Stray Kids in 2022. So it feels more like a 2023 album. It also has the most whiplash between songs.

Single: Dum Dum - Jeff Satur (and also Steal the Show) but also Macarena - Blitzers and Baggy Jeans - NCT U [which they also added to an album] and the eurovision winner Cha Cha Cha - Käärijä.

or title tracks like: Shalala by Taeyong or Guilty by Taemin that I want to include for reasons.

Favorite OST from 2023: Let's Try from OFTS. I listened to this every Friday waiting for the new episode to be released. And it should have made it into my spotify 2023 playlist. I almost picked MSP's cover of Tilly Bird's Just Being Friendly.

Giant Tamer | Geraskier - Geralt/Jaskier

The first time Geralt saw Jaskier's cock, it was by accident. Well, not really, because he'd been wanting to know what it looked like, but didn't plan for it to happen this way.

2. teeth of the hydra | Geraskier - Geralt/Jaskier

The steady beats of the bass vibrated through the wall Jaskier was propped against, the music muffled just enough that he couldn’t discern the words of the singer. It didn’t matter, he knew the lyrics by heart anyway. He muttered them under his breath as he searched through his jacket for his lighter. The first hit of nicotine did its job of relaxing him, or maybe it was a placebo effect. Either way, he found himself in a better state of mind to answer Essi’s prodding.

3. Would you be kind and put away your sword? | Geraskier - Geralt/Jaskier

Jaskier and him have been together since Midaëte. Their relationship is good, better and more than Geralt has ever expected. They’ve been traveling together and been in each other’s presence for a long time, and although Jaskier has never failed to brighten his days, in spite of Geralt in the beginning, it’s different now that he’s allowed to touch and show his feelings without the fear of them being too much. He hasn’t known it could be like this, so easy with someone else, until Jaskier.

4. Even grouchy men like to cuddle | Geraskier - Geralt/Jaskier

"Are you sure you need to go right now?" Jaskier asked Geralt, trying his best not to pout. He knew he wasn't succeeding very well when Geralt turned and his face softened. 

"I do. The villagers have been terrorised long enough, I won't prolongate their misery any more than I ought to."

"I'm sure they'll heavily thank you for that, too, by trying to throw you out with a fraction of the pay," Jaskier mumbled, soaking his bread with what remained of his hearty stew.

5. tainted | Morston - Arthur/John

This is a stupid idea. Not only Johnny boy has left for a full year, but he's gone soft and stupid during that time too, forgetting the ways of the gang he's spent fifteen years with. Arthur has told Dutch and Hosea that it wouldn't go well if they sent Micah and John together to scout ahead, but have they listened? Of course they haven't, and now John is missing and it's down to Arthur to find and bring back this fool. It's not because he doesn't feel the cold that he can't be an asshole about it.

It's more difficult to track scents in the snow, but what John hates more than responsibilities is bathing, which is useful in these circumstances.

6. Tight Space | Geraskier - Geralt/Jaskier

Geralt took one look at his own hand and shook his head. "It won't fit."

"You haven't even tried," Jaskier protested.

"Don’t need to, I have eyes. Hold up your hand."

7. Fifteen Years | Geraskier - Geralt/Jaskier

“This is a cosy place, if we ignore the mice droppings,” Jaskier commented, hands on his hips as he inspected their room. The surfaces had been recently cleaned and the bed sheets, changed, which wasn’t something every inn provided in their services. “They tried to hide them with a rug, we have to give them that. Too bad the mice seem to now be eating it.”

8. The Hanged Bard | Geraskier - Geralt/Jaskier

That wasn’t how Jaskier had pictured his day to go, he mournfully thought as he stared at the wall from his upside-down position, his feet chained to the ceiling. His blood was almost entirely lodged in his head already, he reckoned, what a charming look. He didn’t know for how long he’d been hanging like that, he was hesitating between too long and my head’s about to explode.

9. I'm learning to be (so much more than what they shaped me into) | Geraskier - Geralt/Jaskier

Daylight hours were increasing with the snow melting and the blossom of the colourful spring flowers. It was just getting warm enough that Jaskier wasn’t complaining about his toes swimming in cold sweat anymore. Just like the weather, his mood was lifting up and he was filled with newfound inspiration for composition.

10. That shirt would look better on the floor | Geraskier - Geralt/Jaskier

Geralt had finally brought Jaskier on a monster hunt with him, nothing too difficult to handle for his first time. They hadn’t gone far from Rosemerrow to find a nekker nest that had been terrorising a road. Jaskier had mostly observed Geralt take down the ugly little monsters, but he’d been the one throwing the bomb before running to take cover behind a rock. The explosion had been satisfying; the monster bits in their hair, less so.

1. 3 ships: komahina (danganronpa), fuffy (buffy the vampire slayer), twelveclara (doctor who)

2. first ever ship: i think it was most likely a superwholock ship.. i got into fandom and the idea of shipping right around that time period and i was 100% a superwholock, and probably watched doctor who first, iirc. i was not big into the doctor/rose ship at any point, so if i had to guess, i'd say doctor/river?

3. last song: i have been listening endlessly to the Once More With Feeling soundtrack. according to spotify, i last listened to I'll Never Tell

4. last movie: uhhh i fully do not remember. sorry, i don't generally watch a lot of movies! more of a tv person. but I'll say that the movie i plan on watching next is Alice Darling

5. currently reading: Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson! I'm very slow when it comes to reading books though, bc i also read a lot of fic, and tend to prefer/prioritize whatever fic I'm reading over the book I'm reading, so it's taking me a hot minute to finish this. i like it so far though!

6. currently watching: buffy the vampire slayer! it's a rewatch for me, but it's my younger sibling's first time seeing it (we're watching together). we're an episode away from the season 5 finale 🥹

7. currently consuming: nothing! it's morning and I'm not a big breakfast eater

8. currently craving: still nothing! but later today the answer will probably be a cold drink. im a firm supporter of ice water, it's my favorite

⋆ RP PET PEEVES?: Constantly implying that one's portrayal, headcanons etc are superior to other portrayals and the canon source material. Everyone's writing and portrayals are unique, and everyone has a right to their own take on said character. But one shouldn't need to put others down in order to lift oneself up.

⋆ EXPERIENCE / HOW MANY YEARS?: Since 2010. Started out in a roleplay forum I joined on a whim, then to 'double up RP' in DMs/email, some casual RP in other sites, before finally discovering Tumblr RPC.

⋆ FLUFF, ANGST, OR SMUT?:  Angst mostly. I cannot deny some fluff too but I feel like I write deep angsty plots the best! I do not write smut, only very rarely do so in private with a select few.

⋆ PLOTS OR MEMES?: Both? Memes are great as ice breakers or just throwing our muses into scenarios that may potentially lead to a deeper plot. Who knows, right? I think that's the fun of meme prompts. And plotting is of course a great way to delve deeper into muses' relationships and development. Plus possibly AUs! I know I've often expressed how much I love them. So plots and memes, I'm all for both! :)

⋆ LONG OR SHORT REPLIES?: It depends. I typically match my partner's length. But notice I tend to write at least a paragraph or two. I love to set the scene and express what my muses are thinking/feeling.

⋆ TIME TO WRITE?: These days, night time is when I have time to write (aka morning/afternoon for most of my mutuals lol). But really, whenever inspiration strikes.

⋆ ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S)?: I would say I relate to each of my muses in different ways. The muses I'm most like are arguably Doppo and Hakkai. I'm often anxious and running on caffeine like Doppo. Also we have very similar jobs so I tend to apply what I know about business/manufacturing in my writing sometimes. And I'm told by irl friends that I'm like the mom friend with a 'scary poker face' like Hakkai lol. Plus Hakkai and I are both INFJ, so that's something.

Desperate Narrator
