Wu scoffed right back at the firebender, figuring that Mako was only humoring him in that special Mako-way of his. They had been in each other's company long enough for him to spot when he was actually annoyed at his antics; thankfully it wasn't the case at the moment. They both were extremely well aware that the prince was anything but violent, but his height difference between the two of them was obvious.

"Tabloid-schmabloids, Mako," the prince waved a hand in the air dismissively. "They don't matter because they're usually always wrong and honestly could have better things to do. But what doooooes matter..." A sly smirk started to appear on his royal face. "... Is that you're agreeing that I'm adorable right now though, hm?" He grinned from the cushy armchair he was casually lounging in, completely joking.

That was the best he could do? Of course it was. Here was the part where he pretended it didn't slightly amuse him. Deep down past the brooding, serious exterior. They were past the part where he 'scolded' or scoffed at him for those kinds of comments. It's almost as if it'd become regular routine for them. "Yeah, until it isn't." Yes, he was more than used to this, but it didn't mean Mako stopped being Mako in some of the things he said. "The tabloids won't be so forgiving, you know."

Wu repeated, not expecting such an answer from the Chieftain, but chuckled as he was definitely amused, assuming that this was a sign of enthusiasm that betrayed the more stoic expression on Desna's face. "Exploring your options, I see! Well, I'm sure none of them will disappoint because I have amazing taste in not only fashion, but food as well. Obviously." He smirked.

"We can head to the cafe, The Little Wood Frog, first since it's closest to the main entrance of the shopping mall. Again, I'll point out all the wonderful pastries they've got, but if you want to try one of their drinks, you totally can — unless you want to save some room for the smoothies later. If you want to get smoothies first too, that's fine!"

As the two royals walked, Wu's stride was a bit wider and quicker as he was eager to go shopping, even if only for treats. "Do you have any particular flavors you lean toward? Like for me, I'm definitely a fruit guy. More sweet than sour, but both are good. A good citrusy thing is always really refreshing."

It was a nice perk, he’ll agree. Desna and his sister didn’t visit often but he made a mental note to do so. A different setting, variety of activities that wasn’t offered back home, a lot more people. But a lot more green. Green wasn’t his favorite color but there were decent shades. What it paired with, in the other hand..

Eyes flickered down and watch the sleeve be rolled up. Just one? The prince didn’t comment on it. Not the worst thing, he’s already made a jab earlier, and it didn’t bother him - yet. Though it fit completely with Wu. He had his own little traits when he’s alone, but -

Sweets, candy? His sweet tooth wasn’t that particularly strong, but if he visited the highly praised shoppe, he can share with his sister. His decision is - “All of them. Take me to each one you listed.” It’s a high demand but he had high standards, and he wanted to experience all the earth kingdom had to offer.

Wu puffed up his chest in pride (a little too prideful to notice the smile that finally broke Desna's cool facade) before lifting his hand near his mouth as if to say the next part like it's some sort of secret (it's not), "Perks of living in Republic City for a couple of years, ya know. In fact, Little Ba Sing Se Shopping Mall has a ton of them. This way!"

As they walked, the king tucked the offending thread into his sleeve before, rather deftly, rolling said sleeve up his forearm as he made sure each fold was laid down perfectly before moving onto the next; just another preventative measure to make sure that thread doesn't snag — and if anything it showed the lovely pale gold brocade that was made to line his shirt. He hummed some little tune (probably one that had been on the radio as a chart topper for a few weeks) as he did and moved onto his other sleeve to match — while he was all for setting new trends, perhaps the one-sleeve-rolled-up look could be reserved for another time and place.

Once he was satisfied with how his sleeves looked, he glanced over at Desna again. "Did you specifically want a sweets shoppe? Like, candy and confectionaries and whatnot? There's also a wonderful smoothie shop I can rave about for days or even this amazing cafe that makes the most delightful little fruit tarts! Your pick!"

Desna locked eyes on the king and stared intently. He won’t ever admit that Wu was considerably handsome, even if some of his quirks weren’t. But he was right: a thread unchecked could lead to disaster, however small it may initially seem. An outfit and ones day could be ruined.

An experience or two, when younger, he would rather forget.

the corners of his mouth twitched and tugged into a small smile - an absolute rarity. “Yes, how lucky you are indeed. But enough talk, I grow bored. Let us do something.” A second of pause. “Take me to a sweets shoppe.”

🍺 - How does your muse feel about the consumption of alcohol? Do they drink? Are they a heavy drinker, or are they on the lighter side? What's your muse's favorite alcoholic drink?

He's okay with it. He's not dependent on drinking in the alchoholic sense, but leaning more toward drinking for the social aspect of it. Like, he'll get drunk if he's around people he's comfortable with and he's not completely a lightweight. Otherwise, he'll maybe have a drink or two if he's at some social event or forgo them completely if he's not at some party or something — he's not into the long-term health risks (yes, he's here for a good time AND a long time).

He's definitely the happy/chatty/affectionate drunk, which can sometimes be mistaken for him being sober, honestly LOL. The tell would be if the speed of his words starts climbing rapidly.

And this fruity bastard with his love of smoothies would go for the more fruity/sweet drinks, especially if you can't even taste the alcohol (which is pretty dangerous whoops). Unfortunately for him, I don't personally drink so I couldn't name a drink for him to favor LOL.

This man's whole existence is an embarrassment come on LOLjkmostly. But given how dramatic he is, he sometimes doesn't take a second to actually think about his actions being embarrassing. Also even if he's corrected, he truly just lets his mistakes roll off his back like water [motions at his stupidity of claiming he was allergic to strawberries after being hit by pies, but instead he's allergic to bees. That's not the same thing, Wu honey].

Mans also canonically admitted that he farted while in Gaoling after Korra used a figurative mention of something stinking when referring to the candidates up for election (I can't even).

💤 - How does your muse sleep? Are they a light sleeper, or are they out the moment their head hits the pillow? Do they nap? Do they struggle to sleep due to things like insomnia, or nightmares?

He sleeps lavishly LOL. This spoiled ass prince king needs to have a plush bed with silky sheets that stay cool in the summer and warm, fluffy comforters in the winter, and five billion pillows. His bed is a comfy, cozy nest. He's definitely a heavy, heavy sleeper. His preferred position is side sleeping with a giant pillow to both hold and have between his legs while also surrounded by the rest of his army of his cushions. He's prone to oversleep if he actually doesn't have anything on his agenda, however if he makes appointments in the morning (whether it's business or self-care spa treatments), he will be on time. And he def uses the term "beauty sleep".

He doesn't fall asleep immediately, but doesn't struggle to fall asleep either. He has a routine (skin and hair things before bed) that's rather meditative before he finally climbs under the covers.

Bonus headcanon: While being small spoon is very nice and mimics the way his tons of pillows cradle him, he actually likes being the big spoon a lot when he's sleeping or cuddling with his partner.

❤️ - How did your muse come to realize their romantic and sexual orientations? Was it difficult to accept? Are they proud of who they are?

As I stated before, I headcanon him as bi, with a stronger preference for men — because, hey, there's more than one way to present as bi.

He does genuinely find women attractive, but he's absolute shit at trying to woo (pun not intended) any of them and that's definitely entirely his fault LOL.

As far as finding out that he's interested in men, I think it came from a young age, but not in realizing that what he was feeling was attraction instead of admiration. Toeing, but not identifying, the feeling of "do I want to be him or do I want to be with him?" when finding another guy attractive.

With the canon of Turf Wars discussing how the Earth Kingdom is the slowest as far as progressiveness goes, that's definitely the root of his compulsive heterosexuality. It wasn't until he moved to Republic City to attend RCU that he started to see folks in non-hetero relationships and related to them more. He didn't find other people in those kinds of relationships bothersome, because, hey, they're not hurting anyone and they're happy, but his reflexes still personally leaned into his comphet ways, buuuut let's just say he doesn't kiss and tell about a couple of instances from his college years. Eventually, he softened to the idea that, yeah, him doing these things is okay if it's okay for other people to do the same.

Part of him is just a little apprehensive in the sense of being under the microscope of the public eye, mostly in wanting to protect his partner — whether not that may be a man/woman/nonbinary person because people still have weird perceptions about bi people no matter who their partner is — but his big ego also says that Hey He's The King He Can Do Whatever He Wants. He is proud of loving who he is in love with, but also doesn't want to hurt them.

He has a stuffed bear, like a plushie shaped like an actual bear, from when he was a child. King Kuei's Bosco was of course very well known, especially after the king and his best pal went traveling the world — and of course the strange sight of Just A Bear, so I would imagine that people made merchandise featuring the bear. So, little Wu definitely had a plush fashioned after his great-grandfather's best friend.

It's very worn and well-loved, but he has the privilege of getting it repaired if needed, never replaced (even if he also had the means of doing so). He currently doesn't sleep with it, but makes sure it's safe and it also travels with him, just as Actual Bosco did with Kuei. (He doesn't believe the rumor that Hou-ting ate Bosco because that's terrifying — even if it may be true given how she is.)

The easiest question to answer is what he finds attractive in people — he's very obviously attracted physically at first. It's my personal headcanon that Wu is bi, so him hitting on Asami, Korra, and Kuvira are genuine (and genuinely poor) attempts at flirting; he's just absolute shit in charming people romantically LOL. (It's COMPLETELY his fault that he's shit with women LMAO) He's not blind — there are a ton of pretty people in the LoK universe and he's not gonna not shoot his shot if he can. Well, his past self definitely would have; he has a bit more self control now since his focus has shifted to his kingly duties lol.

In the more personality sense, to be quite honest, he finds power attractive. Not just bending (although bending is hot ngl LOL), but force of personality, especially since he's such a force himself. Someone who's more meek definitely won't catch his eye. Sharing witty banter is also very fun. Also he won't admit it, but he doesn't mind someone calling him out on his bullshit; someone that can make him reflect. He is trying to be a better person and while it's not his partner's job to fix him, he's grateful that they want him to be better and will help him do that.

His love language is words of affirmation and quality time, both receiving and giving. He wants to know how his partner is feeling and wants to be around them, sharing in good times and creating memories. Receiving gifts (and acts of service) is a norm for him, so receiving them just feels like a, pun not intended, given when being royalty, so it's not a big deal in his eyes. However, giving gifts, he enjoys doing. Let him shower his partner in wonderful lavish gifts that he took the time to hand pick with his amazing personal taste. Physical touch isn't priority (we'll put it above acts of service and receiving gifts) but that's not to say he doesn't enjoy it — he loves it very much and would spend an entire day in the arms of his partner if his schedule allowed it.

Signs that he's in love besides openly flirting LOL? (jk him blurting out flirty lines like how he is in Book 4 is not "love"). But seriously: Simply wanting to spend more time with whoever he has his eyes on, making sure they're having a good time with him as well as he can. Honestly, he'd probably be caught daydreaming about them when he's not with them because when he's actually in love (aside from physical attraction) he's a bit more inward and self-reflective with it until he's positive his feelings are reciprocated — then he'll be more vocal about it, test those waters.

Hell no, he can't cook or bake LOL. He had the means of not just ordering food itself, but also ordering people around, all his life basically, so why would he try to even attempt to step foot into a kitchen.

As his goal is dissolving the monarchy, he does have thoughts about how life would be away from the throne. Where is he going to live? Will he still have the support he does now? Will he still have the money that supports his current lifestyle? Should he start learning how to cook for himself? So on and so forth. Though due to the pace it's currently going at, he does wonder if it'll happen in his lifetime.

As the firebender kissed him back, a smile played at Wu's lips once he felt the warmth of Mako's hand against his skin. He was completely pleased that his boyfriend so easily let himself — literally — fall into his arms without any resistance.

If anything, the corners of his smile tugged up even more as he clocked the blush that graced his face — were the tips of his ears just as red as well?
