To answer your questions:

Jurdan is definitely my favorite ship in tfota, and one of my favorite ships of all time. If you wish to include any other ships, Taryn and the Ghost interest me a lot, though canon hasn’t explored it much.

My favorite tropes are enemies to lovers and when the lady holds her guy at knife-point (sound familiar? lolll) I also like a nice cozy hurt/comfort. Other ships I love are Zutara from ATLA, Nyx x Ignifex from Cruel Beauty, and Captain Swan from Once Upon A Time. I am a simple woman: I see animosity, I wait for them to kiss 😂😂

Sad confession, but I’ve never read a tfota fanfic! I’m actually decently new to the fandom, so I don’t know what AUs are common or even what AUs really work well with Jude and Cardan. For other works, my preferred AUs are AssassinXRoyal, Reluctant Soulmate, or reverse PoV (like when we see a canon scene from another characters PoV)

My favorite thing from tfota was the Knife Scene(tm) and the letters from Cardan. The fact that Jude never got those letters breaks my heart.

About me:

My favorite song changes all the time, because I love music and I’m indecisive, but currently I’m obsessed with Glowing by The Oh Hellos! (I’m always looking for new music, so if you want to tell me your favorite song[s] as well, please do!)

My favorite color is purple! Any shade of purple! I’ll be getting married soon, and our wedding colors are dark blue, various shades of purple, and cream (the bouquet will be made of book-page flowers!)

If I was a type of potato, I would be a nice warm bowl of extra buttery mashed russet potatoes lol.

Kristen Nassif University of Delaware Kristen Nassif is a first-year Art History PhD student at the University of Delaware. Her research focuses on nineteenth-century American painting, with a particular interest in the intersection of science and art. She has published an essay on the American photographer Duane Michals (winter 2017), and has worked on a publication for the Art Institute of Chicago for the exhibition “Whistler and Roussel: Linked Visions”. She earned her B.A. from Colby College in Studio Art, Art History, and Biology, and her M.A. from Tufts University in Art History.

Consuming the X-ray: Containing the Unknown and Illuminating the Visible This paper considers X-rays as aesthetic images for consumption at the end of the nineteenth century. The “X-ray craze” of 1896 prompted a shift from the private laboratory to the space of the public, fuelled by a desire to see and experience the body like never before. Nevertheless, concerns of privacy and mortality quickly returned X-rays to the scientific settings of hospitals. I argue that consuming the X-ray necessitated not only a particular architectural environment, but a kind of visuality that acknowledged its nebulous character. As material objects and windows to the invisible, X-rays and their spaces were similar to photographic studios and darkrooms, but they also attempted to contain, control, and protect individuals from the X-ray’s unknown, imperceptible forces. Revealing the limitations of vision, X-rays demanded not only a new kind of seeing, but a new space in which to see and consume.

Ses intérêts de recherche concernent l’élaboration d’une praxis commissariale prenant pour base les concepts d’amitié, d’hospitalité et de don. Pour complexifier cette posture de commissaire, il cherche à produire une approche critique de l’autorship et de l’authority inhérents aux pratiques commisariales.

Copie et remake comme stratégies d’accessibilité dans une pratique commissariale Cette présentation se penche sur la position particulière de l’Artiste-Commissaire. L’objectif est de dégager, à travers une enquête critique s'inspirant de ma pratique personnelle, les dangers potentiels de cette position d’« entre-deux». La position d’artiste-commissaire que j’ai tenue au cours de mon parcours employait principalement des stratégies de copies, faux, remakes et reconstitutions, tout en réutilisant des stratégies commissurales et la forme d’exposition de groupe. Les différents types de relations représentationnelles choisies pour ces projets tentaient, par la mise en réseau de différentes œuvres, de déconstruire le concept monolithique de l’auteur (et celui de l’artiste) ainsi que de repenser notre relation à l’original et l’authenticité, deux concepts fondamentaux à l’hégémonie de l’histoire de l’art occidentale. Afin de mieux comprendre les risques et pièges d’une telle praxis, la pratique d’artiste-commissaire sera abordée par l’utilisation du concept de « capital symbolique » de Pierre Bourdieu.

Christelle Proulx Université de Montréal Christelle Proulx est doctorante en histoire de l’art à l’Université de Montréal. Détentrice d’une bourse du Conseil de recherches en sciences humaines du Canada, son projet de thèse examine les reconfigurations de diverses aspirations utopiques dans le web à l’aide de projets qui réutilisent des images tirées de Facebook et de Google. Elle a notamment publié sur des sujets connexes dans le magazine Ciel Variable et dans la revue Captures. Elle est aussi auxiliaire pour le projet de recherche « Art public, art urbain et cultures numériques : des publics, des sites, des trajets », dirigé par Suzanne Paquet.

Atlas, le savoir visuel et le web. Une étude des dynamiques de filtres dans Google Images À une époque où les images semblent désormais toutes accessibles, Google Images s'impose dorénavant comme un intermédiaire dominant afin de trouver ou de retrouver des images « pertinentes » en ligne. Pour cette présentation, les spécificités du moteur seront examinées à travers le prisme historique d’une mise « au travail » des images (Castro 2013) dans la notion d’atlas, en tant que production d’un savoir spécifiquement visuel (Didi-Huberman 2011 ; Castro 2013). En plus d’un bref examen des algorithmes d’ordonnancement chez Google, cette étude sera déployée avec l’œuvre hypermédiatique Image Atlas (2012 - ) de Taryn Simon et Simon Schwartz : un site sur lequel l’utilisateur soumet des requêtes à Google Images et visualise les résultats obtenus dans cinquante-quatre pays. En explicitant les parois invisibles que produisent ces « bulles de filtres » (Pariser 2012), nous tenterons de décrire une part du rôle des images dans les aspirations qui animent Google.

- Something about the Pixies will always remind me of Frances. It was the song that started playing when I was in CAS and they just give me a sense of isolation and deranged behavior. I just picture Frances drenched in sweat at one of their concerts while on acid.

- Leo queen stanning other Leo queens? Yes. But honestly, this song is so mellow and it just reminds me of Gum’s passive, dreamy behavior.

T A R Y N: Black Memories - The Growlers

- Notorious for not letting go, this song is about being left with grief after a tremendous heartbreak. Taryn has a tendency to gamble her heart to strangers only to be left to mend the pieces. The whole album, Chinese Fountain reminds me of her.

D A N: Femme - Le Couleur

- Femme just reminds me of a girl in red shades, driving down a California coastline, forgetting about a previous lover. Dan has such an independent character without even trying yet she manages to keep her femininity. Her songs make me feel empowered with a hint of delicacy.

K A I: Halloween - Shakey Graves

- This song makes me a bit emotionally, honestly. It has such a melancholy feel to it. I can’t quite give you a song meaning behind it, part of me thinks death, another part makes me think it’s about someone who is caged. It just reminds me of Kai’s sad character and his battle with the loneliness that comes with depression.

A T L A S: Will He - Joji or I’ll Be Around - The Growlers

- I am so attracted to the way that Joji says “my lips” idfk man. OKOKOK but no this song is fucking dark okay. I was reading about this song and Joji sorta left it up to the listener. To me it talks about a heartbroken lover but I also think there’s a sense of obsession, almost toxic, behavior. I feel like on the exterior, Atlas isn’t too bad, however there were times in his past that he clung onto people in an unhealthy manner. He found himself manipulating others just so they could stay. At some point, relationships made him a messy, messy person.

- I’ll Be Around reminds me of Atlas waking up from a party, completely shitfaced. He’s covered in booze and limbs on top of him, not remembering where he found the glasses sitting on top of his head. He absolutely loves the feeling of dancing while high or drunk. I think there’s a scene in the music video where Brooks has a camera in front of him and he’s just looking around frantically while the room is spinning... It’s just an Atlas aesthetic. Partying “til the sun comes up.”

A T L A S x E M E R Y: Ontario Gothic - Foxes in Fiction

- In my humble onion, this song makes me feel for these two. Like if you wanna cry for some reason, listen to this song!!! Idc imma make a video on them JUST YOU WAIT!!! Anyway, this song as a nostalgic, dreamlike feel to it. My heart feels so full when I heart it. It just reminds me of two lost souls meeting once again. I just imagine the two starring at each other, inches away, with such passion in their eyes. I imagine the two being afraid of their own emotions towards one another and the feeling of vulnerability when they collide. I just... I CAN’T WAIT TO INTRODUCE THESE TWO!!! *SHAKES FINGER*

A R E S: The Less I Know the Better - Tame Impala

- This song reminds me of a lusty teenager enamored by the idea of someone. I feel like Ares spends a lot of time in his head daydreaming about intimacy and the idea of being with someone. I like that this song also talks about jealousy because I feel as if he’d grow a bit hurt to see his crush with someone that isn’t him. I don’t know, this song is a bop!
