Even though it was required to have two quintessence ghouls at the ministry at all times, Aether and Omega were both out helping at another ministry, and no other quint ghoul could be found. The reason for that is every now and then quint ghouls fade into stardust, and the help of another quint ghoul is needed to make sure the fading quint ghoul doesn't permanently disappear. Phantom, being the new ghoul that he is, doesn't know that this happens. It doesn't help that he hasn't been told that it will happen to him.

None of the other ghouls didn't think it'd happen just a few months after the tour ended, mainly because it took two to three years for Aether and Omega to fade away for the first time. Phantom got scared when he was walking through the ministry's hallways to go to the observatory in the loft of the library and his phone fell through his hand. He was even more scared when his hand started phasing through the floor when he tried to pick it up. He used his non-fading hand to pick up his phone and ran to the library, thinking he was just hallucinating from a lack of sleep or lack of connecting with the stars. Ue quickly made his way to the observatory.

He laid on the ground of the observatory and looked at the stars, letting his thoughts connect to them. An hour and a half later he disconnected his thoughts from the stars, sat up, and when he looked at his legs, they had turned into a shiny silver-gray dust. He was terrified. He picked up his phone and went to a group chat he barely ever texted in - the pack's group chat. He texted a small, but urgent text:

> “Help. Turning to dust. In observatory.”

It's thirty minutes later when someone finally comes to him - Dewdrop. He can hear Dewdrop groan as he climbs the ladder to get to the observatory. Dew turned on the light of the observatory and looked until he spotted the little quint. Most of the ghouls thought he was joking; it wasn't soon enough for him to fade away for the first time.

At least they thought.

With a worried gasp, Dew ran over and sat next to Phantom.

“Little Star? When'd this start?” He Worriedly asked.

“I dunno. My hand was kinda see-through earlier, but I thought it was because I hadn't connected with the stars in a while.”

Shit. Why hadn't they told him about this? Even more so because connecting with the stars whilst fading speeds up the process. Dew holds Phantom's hand and texts the group chat.

> “He wasn't lying. He's fading, fast. I need Swiss and Rora here quickly, Sunny if you can find her.”

Right after he sends that text Phantom's hand fades through his and back down to the ground.

“Phantom, I need you to stay awake as long as you can, okay? You're fine. This is normal for quint ghouls when they come top-side.”

“Does that mean I'm going back to the pit? Or am I joining the stars?” The little quint asks with his round starry eyes.

“I dunno, but I don't want to find out.”

While they wait for Swiss and Rora (possibly Sunny) to come, Dew quietly sings Ride by Twenty One Pilots for Phantom, a song they both enjoyed. Dewdrop watched as Phantom's body slowly turned to stardust. All three multi ghouls arrived when only Phantom's torso and head were left. All three quickly sat around the smaller ghoul, Sunny immediately started trying to keep his soul grounded to the Earth instead of letting it flow away with the small bit of quintessence she possessed while Swiss quickly gave Aurora a run-down on how to help keep his soul on the Earth.

While the multi's did that Dew spoke to Phantom to keep him calm. Well, it more to keep himself calm, he loved the little quint even though he didn't show it much.

“Does it hurt?”

“No, it kind of feels like I'm asleep? Like I'm here but I can't feel what's happening.”

“Oh okay.” Dew sighs.

Around fifteen minutes later, when just Phantom's head is left, not knowing if they'll be able to ground his soul, Dew softly kisses Phantom, possibly for the last time. Phantom giggles when he's kissed by Dew, like the many times he did when they shared small kisses.

“I love you, Dew.”

“Love you too, Little star.”

And then he was gone. His whole body turned to dust. Sunny, Swiss, and Rora are all trying their hardest to hold onto his soul, but it doesn't work. When Rora stops grasping at the invisible strings of his soul, she grabs at the stardust he left behind and sobs, loud and heartbreakingly.

Dew not one for tears, cries. Hard. Sunny texts the group chat a small simple thing:

> “He's gone.”

In the next few minutes everyone's there, Copia included. They're all there mourning the loss of their packmate, bestfriend, lover, and for Aurora, life mate. They're there until sunrise, and from the observatory, the sunrise looks stunning.

“You know, I heard somewhere that the most beautiful sunsets are made by the souls of those who've left us.” Aurora quietly says to the group.

Who knew the last they'd see of Phantom was his stardust?

Thinking about Phantom beating the absolute shit outta someone (don't know who yet) based on my first fight I had when I was in HS

context : when i was a senior a friend of mine died and i heard a girl talking shit about my recently deceased friend so i jumped her in the middle of the library :)

Thinkin about Phantom just snapping on night, he's gone to the Abbeys massive old library, the one place he takes comfort and solace in. The one place Aether and Omega took him to show him of ancient books that spoke about quintessential ghouls, so if Phantom has any questions and they can't answer or aren't there he has resources.

Thinkin about Phantom who's feeling hopeless and overwhelmed, like he can't fill the shoes Aether left behind. So he goes to the library to read up on the books he's familiar with to try and better himself. Maybe it's his magic. Maybe it's not as good as Aether, not as strong. Maybe HES not as a good as Aether or Omega.

Phantom finding someone of the bands pack already in the library and his heart and stomach instantly fill with dread. He's wondering if he can get to his books silently, unnoticed.

Someone noticing him regardless and sighing, clearly irritated that he's even here. Picking up their books from the old tables intending on checking out and leaving.

Instead of getting hurt and sad, which is usually what that reaction makes Phantom feel: he feels anger instead.

Phantom "how dare they have such a visceral reaction to my presence when I haven't done a god damn fucking thing to them"

Phantom marching over to them and asking them what tf their problem is. Phantom all but launching himself at them, fueled by adrenaline, anger, and grief.

Here is what's been pestering my mind:

As anyone probably knows, ravens and magpies are fucking enemies. They bully each other, steal from each other, and sometimes even kill each other.

And just for reference, their sizes: Raven: 56 - 78cm Eurasian Magpies: 44 - 46cm

So, i guess, we all know who would win in a fight 1 vs. 1

Now, what my mind did. Let's take an elderly raven, he's 70cm long, blind on one side and has a slightly deformed foot, that makes him walk "funny". He has no mate, nor are there many other ravens where he lives.

And then a male magpie shows up, he's young not even sexually mature yet, and he takes fun in pestering the raven. But someday the magpie is sitting on the ground, trying to eat a nut when a cat appears. The raven, who originally just wanted the nut, flies down and chases the cat away by it.

The magpie gets scarred and flies away too, taking the nut with him. But after some minutes, the raven has returned to his tree, the magpie shows up again and lands next to the raven, holding the nut in his beak. And the raven does not attack him, he looks utterly confused, more so when the magpie drops the nut to the ground and gives his head a motion, so the raven would follow it. It's the magpies thanks to the raven for saving him.

After that day the magpie often shows up with little gifts for the raven, some snack, bottle caps, small shiny things and stuff like that. And they can be seen chilling in trees together. When it rains, the magpie finds his way under the raven's big wing.

Basically, it's just that they became partners in some way. They use different kind of sounds, but after some weeks they can understand the other (like humans can learn different language, or they just learned by seeing the motions that followed after the sound the other made). They act like mates.

This probably does not make much sense in a biological way, but i really like that thought, sooo... And for the ghost reference: The Raven is Omega, the magpie is Terzo hehehe. My minds been bothered by them and corvids, so that's the results. And i hope you two don't mind me tagging you here @thatfuckinjester @aweisz

Horns: Made of coral or seaglass, many colors, medium or long length

Teeth: Sharp, triangular teeth. Lots of them

Hair: Any dark shade of blue, purple, black, or brown

Eyes: Same as hair but can be lighter. Pupils can be any shape

Gills: Sets of six on either side of the and ribs; very sensitive

Reproduction: Reproduce asexually. All water ghouls, male or female, have vaginas but instead of having a clitoris, they have a small sheathe in that area where a tentacle comes out. That tentacle allows for self-oviposition. 6-8 eggs come out of the tentacle and are put into the womb of the ghoul

Mates: If the ghoul is a solo ghoul, they will take one or no mate. If they are in a pack, the number of mates is increased.

Tails: Their tails can vary from fish-like tail to just sleek, black, or blue tails with spades on the end

Skin/fins: Same color as hair/eyes, but much, much lighter. Fins are thin and see-through. Fins are on the shell of their ears, length of their tail, and on their spine when fully unglamoured

Eggs: Their eggs are a translucent green no matter the color of the ghoul. The color of the kit inside is dictated by the color of the dot in the center of the parent(s), or if it's a mixed color, just by the color of the dot

Kits: While they lay 6-8 eggs at a time, only 2-4 of those survive and come out of the womb due to the other stronger eggs taking nutrients from the weaker ones
