It’s all made up.

If you look down your nose at someone who says “aks” instead of “ask” consider that people who supposedly speak “proper” English say “comfterble” instead of “comfortable” and nobody bats an eye. Then ask yourself why that is.

Spoiler: there is no such thing as “proper” English, and all language is a cultural construct. 

One of the biggest paradigm shifts of my life was when I realized that there is no dialect or manner of speech that is more or less correct than any other. Because there is no such thing as correct in terms of language, there is only the set of cultural norms as to how that language is used. You can judge if how a person speaks or writes conforms to the norms of the dialect, but you can’t judge if the dialect itself is correct or not. 

We only consider some dialects or speech patterns correct or incorrect based on the populations that we associate with them. British RP is not more correct than AAVE but people think it is because it’s being spoken by upper class white people.

It kills me when language is treated as if there was some edict as to Proper Usage handed down on stone tablets from Mt. Zion or something. Nobody makes rules (well, except the Academie Francaise, but that’s another topic). Rules evolve through usage. The dictionary is not defining words, it is describing how the speakers have come to use those words. It is not the arbiter of correctness, it is the observer of usage.

I don’t think it’s much of a spoiler to say that Acheron is an Emanator of Nihility. I also believe that Jing Yuan is said to be an Emanator of the Hunt bc he’s a Arbiter-General. People have theorized that Sampo is an Emanator of Elation and March is an Emanator of Remembrace (though I personally like the March is Idrila theory).

the only problem is that Herta, canonically an Emanator of Erudition, gets a score of 4. But maybe that can be chalked up to how the Herta we play as isn’t her actual body.

hi! looking for FPE roleplay?

my friends and i have made an FPE server, with a focus on OCs (though canon characters are allowed) and interaction- be it friendly or conflicting- between those characters!

immediate note: 90% of us are 18+, and the server will remain that way until we decide to be more lenient later. we know this may stifle people joining, but if we do become more lenient, we're gonna be doing 16 or 17 anyways. right now, we are 18+.

there is no real "DNI" criteria other than that and don't be a douche lmfao

i'll also bring along the rules from the server, just so you know what you may be getting into; as of posting this, it's a good 9 of us strong, with a good portion up to roleplay already :)

the rules, at the moment, are as follows:

# ACTUAL RULES

1. Don't be a dick lol you know the deal- no bigotry, admins are final arbiters, 3 strike system unless you *really* fucked up lol

2. If it wasn't clear from *my* language, yes, you can swear and shit- no slurs, with VERY minor exceptions. NSFW jokes are allowed, but spoil anything truly explicit. Gore discussion counts under this rule; spoil it (but obv it's allowed, cause.. i mean.. look at the animation lol).

3. If it *also* wasn't clear from my PROFILE and also EVERYTHING ELSE about me, systems- and I want to specifically mention fictives- are very welcome here. Endos are not. System stuff's serious, as is all the drama around it; I don't want none of it here >:(

4. gimmie oreos (i like this joke also they genuinely taste good)

5. When it comes to RP, please create a thread for any channels with "-threads" as a name; it's to avoid bloat and people covering each other up in separate locations, but similar spots (ie halls and classrooms). Also, be polite; you may RP however you want, but don't judge if someone wants to RP a certain way or doesn't want to RP with you due to your style.

6. Anyone may set a scene, a general canon will likely be tracked or made somewhere by me and anyone who's ideas sound neat and get a majority 👍 from my friends.

8. Rolling for actions is allowed- if you've ever played apocalypse world systems, this'll be familiar. Use 2d6, 1-6 is a failure (consequences and no completion of the action), 7-9 is a mixed success (do the thing worse, consequences, etc), and 10+ is a full success (thing is done without unforseen complications). Double 6s can be considered a crit, with snake eyes being a crit fail, if you feel so inclined. Modifiers can be from -2 to +3, and can be discussed beforehand.

9. Teeechnically there can be multiple of the same character, but preferrably try Not to do that. don't need a million me's running around but it's also funny lmao

I assume youre not much of an oc type of person, but did you have any like backstory or smth planned for Rev Tal?

Oh buddy you have no idea how wrong you are about me not being an oc person. I have a spreadsheet of like 40-ish ocs. This here blog voidtongued used to be a full on warframe roleplay blog but. most of my rp parners went inactive in terms of the writing aspect (we still chat and play the game and talk about how much we miss role-playing from time to time but a lot of us are. adults with full time jobs now and it makes it difficult to do that)

ANYWAY. Short answer is yes. Long answer is beneath the cut lmao

Rev Tal is a Venusian-born Tenno, raised by people who would later become some of the first Solaris. They were on the Zariman Ten-Zero, and after the void jump accident their possible existences diverged into The Operator and The Drifter. Blah blah, events of the game story quests with some minor canon divergence (Rev Tal being far warmer to the Grineer in any situation because they recognize the average Grineer trooper as a brainwashed soldier and as much of a victim as they are, etc), and slowly began to develop an intense distrust bordering on hatred of The Lotus. After the events of The Apostasy Prologue, they effectively renounced the Lotus and became a full-time Arbiters of Hexis operative Tenno, preparing for the coming Sentient invasion.

Things... Changed after The New War, with the apparent death of The Operator, a rift opened to Duviri, where the Drifter had been. Drifting. Surviving. Trying to find a way out and back into the reality they were "originally" from. The Drifter learned how to navigate the Void's reality and unreality, and has had dealings with the Murmur that left them changed and bitter. During the events of The New War, the Drifter and the Operator met face-to-face and realized that they were technically two parts of a whole individual, now styling themself Big Rev to differentiate from the child Rev Tal had been.

Big Rev is the best of both worlds - The Operator's energy and drive to succeed tempered by The Drifter's perspective and adult emotional maturity.

I've written two fics on ao3 from. forever ago. regarding Rev Tal's story - How to Make a Martyr and Voidtouched. HTMAM was written after I finished the Sacrifice iirc and was determined to un-fuck the in-game depiction of Rell and TMITW in Chains of Harrow, and Operation Hostile Mergers was the impetus for me writing Voidtouched (iirc Hostile Mergers dropped like, while I was writing it and I went back and reworked some things? it's been like three+ years i do Not remember). I was gonna write more, but I got busy with school and life and my brain, computer, and hands decided to explode and I had to take an extended break from the game. I'm back now though, and very behind, and I keep toying with going back to what was going to be the third installment in Rev Tal's story, the Guardian's Song, which would've gotten into their backstory more formally, but with the number of things that have changed with TNW and the Duviri Paradox and now Whispers in the Walls and eventually Warframe 1999. I'd have to do a LOT of reworking and i dont. wanna.

Short for “Game Master”, it’s the person who presents plot elements and is arbiter of challenges for the players in a roleplaying game such as Dungeons and Dragons. Sometimes also called DM (Dungeon Master) for that game specifically, but GM is the most general term.

I’ve run a few games in various systems but mostly I’ve been a player character because it’s just. Acting as GM is always like herding cats.

In an online rp there usually isn’t a GM, just a lot of people doing cooperative writing. In the one I’m embroiled in, I happened to have a few brilliant ideas and as a result suddenly I’m 1. actually playing in the game 2. as an alternate universe God 3. now there are a BUNCH of alternate universe gods and/ or devils 4. I had another fucking brilliant idea today and I’m facing the consequences 5. at least people are having fun! That’s what it’s all about.

Saw someone complaining about the colony ship in starfield the other day, I just finished the quest and it’s literally not that big of a deal dude calm down 💀💀💀💀💀

Planet side we have a resort planet, if you let the colonists land you have to make them indentured servants.

Of course you can’t boot the resort company off 💀 you’re like one person against an entire planet????

Ship side we have a generation ship (scaled down as Bethesda tends to do for big stuff). The captain sees no other option but to live on this planet cause she and her entire crew grew up being told that they would be the ones to finally make it. Of course she feels entitled to it!

Your options are: Servitude, Explode the ship, or pay for the ship to get a grav-drive and go live on another planet.

The poster iirc was upset at all of these options.

(Obvi I’m not the arbiter of everyones rp but here’s the vibe I got)

Explode the ship is for people who are rp-ing as bad people

Servitude is for people rp-ing as business majors

Grav-drive is for people who are good

They claimed that Grav-Drive was also bad cause it is like colonizing on earth, which I have to disagree with. The big one is there aren’t going to be any sentient life on the planet they go to.

A smaller one would be what the fuck else could you do???? Start a one person war with a planet of rich people and retirees??

rp pet peeves : All the liars, isolators, abusers, being fostered in the community because people confusing being 'sweet' with being nice, too often, and then not saying shit when something wrong really happens, like all the harassment and bullying that goes on in these communities. It ain't the harassers fault, as much as it's ours for failing to be responsible and brave enough to tell these people to fuck off more often. Instead they ruin our community and we sit by and watch as they shit on it with their arbiter behavior. And it's never going to end because half the time when people do stand up to these losers, no one has their backs. Because they are too scared to stand up for themselves, let alone others. Then we have as a group chosen to isolate from others and ask why we aren't getting attention. You ain't shy, you're just avoidant and want everyone else to do shit for you, instead.... Uncle Ben would probably be disappointed in us all lol.

fluff, angst, or smut : Angst, of course lol.

plots or memes : Both are fine, but meme's seem to get us there quicker.

long or short replies : Long replies are my thing. Short replies stifle me to much because it's inherent implication in most that the opposite writer is lazy. I don't care what the tumblr 'positivity' posts say. Half of you are simply just not writing to experience this hobby for what it is, creating a story. And that's fine. You do you. I'll play ball just the same.

time to write : Almost any time, this is more a career to me, being a writer, than a hobby, Roleplay is just warm up and practice for me. And I'm sick of people acting like it's just something throwaway, storytelling has and will always be an essential part of human existence. Read the room "It's just a Hobby" Yeah, because you are trying to get good at it, Jan. Tired of placating. If a boxer gets kicked to hard, the other guy can't go "It's just a hobby bro." Own your bruises lol. Love your hobbies, they are you.

are you like your muses : Yes, parts of me exist in most, if not all my muses in some part. Because writers always leave pieces of themselves in their art. Because every word written might as well be our blood.
