❝I will return with all the blood of Roskarva on my hands.❞
comps ; house of the dragon meets the snow queen tropes ; elemental magic, pyrrhic victories, siblings to enemies
One thousand years ago, the House of Arkkoska was cursed by the gods as punishment for their devastating pride. Three heirs scavenge for power in the wake of their father's murder. A usurper, a wraith, and the most vainglorious one of all.

Dealing with combat in roleplaying games offers a number of challenges. Once you pull out the battle grid and miniatures some of the issues go away, but whether you are playing theater of the mind or using a grid there will always be arguments about how spells effect the area. When you do so playing theater of the mind, that will have to be between you and your Game Master. But if you are using a battle grid I have the perfect solution — the Roleplaying Spell Effects 2.0 Kickstarter from Arcknight.
Revamping the best RPG Spell Effects to make them even better. Everything you asked for: Cheaper and Pre-Cut
Spell effects raised to the next level
I have been using the spells from Arcknight’s first series of spell templates and they are an invaluable asset for anyone playing on a battle grid. The series one templates were over many pages with multiple options in the same size. Useful, but why use more plastic? How many spells can you cast at the same time? You rarely need more than one of each size — and this is what Roleplaying Spell Effects 2.0 is all about. The only duplicate is the 20-foot radius sphere so if you have one in use for a lingering area effect you still have your trusty fireball template at the ready.
#gallery-0-5 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-5 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-5 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-5 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
The spell templates are printed on sturdy plastic allowing you to see through the template. This allows you to identify creatures in the area of effect easily. Using these templates makes running spellcasters as a player or as a Game Master so much easier. I make sure to keep them close at hand anytime I am running a game just in case I might need them. And I almost always need to use them.
In series one the templates were printed on a clear sheet requiring you to manually cut out each template and spell effect token. Roleplaying Spell Effects 2.0 is streamlining the process and arranging the spells over only three pages, using metal die cutters so you can punch out the spells. This makes it so much easier for the end user. I have a lot of Arcknight products and I cannot recommend them highly enough.
But we are still not through yet! This pack has tokens as I briefly mentioned above so you can denote who is under what effect. This pack has minion or summon tokens you can use to represent a summoned creature or even an illusion on the battlefield. The templates make use of the edges by writing the name of the spell and range and the short version of the effect. This writing is on one side meaning if you turn it over the text is hidden by the graphic. But having this on the template means less time looking up the effect or range. It is written right there for you.
The fact that these are plastic means that they are perfectly safe from that accidental drink spill. You can also write new effects on them for an on-the-fly spell or effect you come up with. Just make sure you use wet/dry erase markers!
These templates are designed for the 5th Edition of the world’s greatest roleplaying game, but given the range of sizes and shapes, you will find them useful for any game that uses square grids or has spell and effects options. As I said earlier I cannot recommend these products enough and the fact they are flat and durable means they can easily fit into your gaming bag. In fact if you are a player you can easily slip the few you are going to use into your Player’s Handbook. Check out the Roleplaying Spell Effects 2.0 Kickstarter from Arcknight, learn more about the campaign and the team and pledge for your own pack of spell effect templates. Help support this great company that has always done right by Nerdarchy.
Thanks for reading. Until next time, stay nerdy!
Every shape! Every size! Pre-cut! @ArcknightGames conjuring up spell effects for all your magical needs. I think I see a color spray there, thank you very much. #DnD #magical Dealing with combat in roleplaying games offers a number of challenges. Once you pull out the battle grid and miniatures some of the issues go away, but whether you are playing theater of the mind or using a grid there will always be arguments about how spells effect the area.

Forgotten Dreams
There had been a lot of things I wanted to do since I was young but was held back by either lack of time, resources, or motivation. I had a lot of dreams and I even remember when I was still little, specifically in early grade school, that I dreamt of becoming a pilot. Either of the two of becoming a commercial plane pilot, or an air force - it was probably a symbolic dream of mine of being free.
As time passed on, I grew up surfing the internet and watching several flash animations. That inspired me to draw, even if I was not that good in art when I was a child. I watched flash animations like Eddsworld, Animation vs Animator, and other things I could find on Newgrounds, and they have inspired me to teach myself how to animate. I did learn, but I wasn’t able to finish anything because it was so hard to draw using a mouse. I wished for a graphic tablet back then but it was a luxury for such a young child. Several years later in, in highschool, I did manage to make one as a spoof for my friend who was allergic to pineapples. Back then, it was my dream to make funny sketches like Eddsworld’s
For several years, in late grade school and early highschool, I dropped the idea of making an animation because it was too time consuming. I instead just drew stuff digitally still with my mouse. I could say most were horrible but it was made by heart, and you could still see some of those on my Facebook timeline photos. During the years, I was also making comics on a notebook, and I also made some few comics that I’ve posted on my timeline.
During those times in elementary, I also learned how to create websites. Surfing the internet and visiting webs made me want to have my own one too. In fact, some of those I made are still up today. Introducing Stickman132, and Austinbook.
I also remember of being fascinated about A.I and chat bots at the time and so I tried to learn how to make one. I ended up creating a few one, but only using templates (Meaning: They have been already set up how to talk as a pre-set and I only just edited a few things on what to respond). It was too hard and complicated for me back then, but I still tried because it was really interesting. You could see my best one in the Austinbook website, named Meliza. I encoded the bot into flash and submitted it to newgrounds - and I went on with the name as Botmaster09.
Still fond of surfing the internet and watching random things I could find now during highschool, I followed Youtubers like NigaHiga, Pewdiepie, and such. But Youtubers like FreddieW really got me into filming and doing VFX. In highschool, I taught myself how to edit videos and make action video effects. I first filmed through my trusty iPhone 3GS back then, until I was able to get a hold of my sister’s digital camera. I had a lot of ideas for films and sketches back then but as I’ve said, I lacked resources and I was completely alone. I couldn’t make much sketches because I was the only actor. The only opportunity I had was when there were group projects that involved creating videos for the class. But I was also able to make a few videos that only starred myself - and it was only to allow myself to practice editing videos. The world’s greatest assassin, my Harlem shake video, and this. Those are few of the examples and you can find more in my Youtube channel, although there aren’t anything much more recently. It had been my dream though to become a content creator someday. I could’ve been a vlogger, a short comedy film maker or anything alike. I was also interested in making a short horror film but it was the most impossible to make alone. I wanted to provide stories and action to other people. It was also in those years I taught myself how to program and create simple computer games. I could’ve also made stories and conveyed it through those games but then again, I lacked time, motivation, and resources (you needed to create models, arts, music and such - I had several attempts but it always ended up incomplete).
In my last year of highschool, It was only the time I truly thought about my future career. Even though I could’ve pursued some arts degree, I was more worried about my future financial health. I was thinking of something that would lead me to financial freedom whilst still making the use of the skills I’ve learned over the years. I was business minded. I thought of Architecture as my first choice. I could draw a bit, and I do like creating and designing things. I thought maybe if I had enough money, I could use the skills I could learn being an architect to be able to set a real estate business. When my father heard of my first choice, he told me to just instead pursue Civil Engineering because it’s was just the same thing. I told myself, why not? I’m quite handy in mathematics anyway. But never have I been so wrong in my life.
For now, I’m trying to learn as much skills as I could for my career. I transferred from Civil Engineering to Construction Engineering Management due to some failure in a subject - but that failure had taught me big lesson in life. I’m now doing my best to learn everything that is necessary, so that I could achieve my dream in the future of becoming financially free.
Maybe one day, if I became rich and have achieved freedom, I might be able to do everything I was not able to do in the past.
