Dungeon Meshi made me, a lifelong non-eater of breakfast, into someone who eats breakfast every day.
I’m not sure what category of film rec that counts as, but it definitely counts as one.

Well, I promised this, so I’ll do it without any real occasion
I want to preface the photosets that are about to ensue with some context.
Episodes 45 and 46 of the original Sailor Moon anime are the finale of the first season - the originally-planned finale, before its popularity produced another four seasons. It’s the climactic showdown between Sailor Moon and the Sailor Guardians against Queen Beryl and Metalia, the force she’s been serving all season. Tuxedo Mask, Sailor Moon’s love interest, has been brainwashed into serving Beryl. Everyone remembers their past lives as Moon Princess Serenity (Sailor Moon), her chosen guardians, and Prince Endymion (Tuxedo Mask,) Serenity’s lover and Beryl’s fiance. The entrance to Beryl’s Dark Kingdom is an Arctic location known as D-Point, guarded by a group of her underlings known as the DD Girls. They’re notable, as a group, for killing the team.
Yeah, if you’ve never seen it before, the first season of Sailor Moon ends in a total party kill. Everyone dies. Sailor Moon and her friends get better, and are resurrected without memories of their superheroic identities (until next season), but that doesn’t mean we don’t spend 35 minutes between episodes 45 and 46 watching the characters die.
It is an absolutely iconic climax, using the team’s individual strengths to give them all at least a small triumph before they go down in episode 45. The ending sequence where Sailor Moon defeats Beryl gives us an iconic shot of the Inner Senshi. The animation throughout is stunning. Sailor Moon’s usual voice actress was unfortunately recovering from an illness, but the rest of the team and her fill-in all give their absolute best for this.
Fast forward to 2015, when Bandai Namco made a match-3 mobile game called Sailor Moon Drops, adapting arcs of the original 90s anime (generally, as opposed to the manga, which diverged a lot.) As you can guess from a match-3 mobile game, it doesn’t have a ton of animations or extra models or backgrounds for things that aren’t the main characters.
You might ask, what does this cute little game do, then, when we reach the final battle of season one?
Adapt it totally straight. This, my friends, is Sailor Moon Drops’ Chibi D-Point. We’re gonna have FUN.

Y yo a ti, Cas -segunda parte. Because of course Mexican Cas pulled us out of despair and can throw us back in.
Ok, so the last 24 hours have been a bit of a rollercoaster and now I have another post to write about how dubbing is made. Because I love Misha a lot, and I respect him but… the whole rouge translator thing just doesn’t jive with reality.
Now, first of all I want to make a disclaimer: I do not believe that there’s a conspiracy to keep Dean closeted and away from Castiel. That makes absolutely no sense, no matter how you slice it. Among other things, conspiracy implies intent, and I really doubt the CW, Warner Bros and everyone involved in the marketing choices cares that much. At most, I think that there was a misunderstanding of marketing/PR and now people are doubling down on trying to pretend it didn’t happen. But a conspiracy? Nope. This isn’t THAT important, and it would require a LOT of people involved to make things work.
Which is precisely why the rouge translator thing doesn’t work. Because you would need a conspiracy to MAKE Destiel canon in order for it to be real.
Second: As I write this, I still don’t have an answer from the voice actors. But rest assured, WHEN they reply (or we can organize a panel so YOU guys can ask directly), I will tell you the absolute truth. If I am wrong with my assumptions, and it WAS a rouge translator, I will let you know, and I will admit I was wrong. And if it was from the audio (say, a Jensen adlib) or the actual script? I will also let you know.
Third: I don’t doubt that Misha REALLY believes the rogue translator thing, if it was told to him by TPTB. There’s no reason to believe he knows how dubbing works in Mexico, nor how many people check the final product. Or that he even watched the episode, instead of believing it was a fan clip. Also, I respect him immensely and I don’t want any hate send his way.
That said, let’s go into how dubbing works, again.
For the sake of argument, I will start with the idea that yes, there was a “Rogue translator” who decided that THIS was the perfect moment to make Destiel canon. Not, say, Season 8 when he could have translated an “I need you” from Dean into an “I love you” when the god tablet thing happened, not in season 12, or during the purgatory prayers. No, the best moment was two episodes before the finale, when he had to know that Cas was not coming back.
And yes, the translator knew Cas was not coming back because when we translate series, we get them in packages of 5 episodes or more at the time. So they must have had 15x16 to 15x21 (The interview special) all together. So they knew that this was Cas’s exit from the series.
Now, in my previous post I said how in the old times, we used vhs tapes and paper copies of the shooting scripts (when they were available that was not always). Now a days, we get the video file and a word document (if we’re lucky. If not, we make the word file). Translate everything. Go through it AGAIN to make sure the lip sync matches and that we don’t have huge speeches when there’s a small window of time to say the speech because of the language differences. Check that we didn’t accidentally used a slang word that only Mexico would understand. If the show is not PG-13, make sure our swearwords are not too bad or too localized. THEN we send it to the studio, which prints about four copies of the script and hands it,and the video, to the Dub director.
The dub director then goes and re-watches every episode, while checking the script. Some directors don’t speak the language, so they’re just checking cadence, time, and the damned lip sync. (And if you, as a translator, don’t match the lip sync? You are either back to training or out of a word if you get too many strikes). So sure, you could slip a change of line there, IF the director doesn’t speak German, or Japanese, or Hindi.
But almost every single dub director speaks English. So a change from “Don’t do this, Cas” to “And I, you, Cas” would be noticed then and there, and changed to the right line. Which means that, for the rogue translator thing to work, we’d have to add also a rogue dub director.
And honestly, do you see a professional dub director with more than 15 years of experience (because you don’t give a series to a newbie, and Supernatural had the same dub director for all it’s run) risking his job for ONE line?
Anyway, in the times before the plague dub actors were called in groups to the study to record, in order to save audio tracks. So, for example, all the Inner Senshi would record together when doing Sailor Moon, and I assume in Supernatural, Sam and Dean’s lines would also be recorded together, while Dean and Cas might have been or not. Depending on times and so on. So you’d had at least 3 people in the studio: Dean’s VA, the dub director and the sound technician. ALL of them checking what was being said, what was in the script, and listening to the original audio.
Some actors would also make corrections to the script there, making some lines easier to read, and, again, checking those damn lip letters (Can you tell I HATE the lip letter thing?) . I remember fondly the VA for Sailor Jupiter, Araceli de Leon (RIP), who was known as “The Corrector”, since she would go through ALL the scripts for everyone with a red pen. The day I handed a script she didn’t find any corrections, I was jumping out of joy. So if 15x18 was recorded AT the dubbing studio? Someone who knew English could’ve caught the difference between the “Don’t do this” and the “And I you”, making it harder for our rogue translator to go unnoticed.
But let’s say it was recorded post-quarantine, when voice actors work alone at home, in their own private sound studios. I have no idea if they would have the director at hand through zoom, but I assume so. In any case, the VA would STILL have the original audio to know how the lines were said, and after 4 years of dubbing Dean Winchester, I will assume that the VA knows at the very least a little bit of English so if his script said “And I, you Cas” but he heard Jensen say “Don’t do it, Cas”, he would’ve made a correction there.
That’s now two people who would have to ignore the rouge translator’s actions, and even help them, in order for this theory to work.
And then the audio goes back to the director, who checks it again, makes sure it is lip synced and well acted, and sent to the audio technician who mixes it all, and now we have a THIRD person who could’ve said “Hey… uhm… this line? Is not what it says in the original” and by this time, we’d have to have a conspiracy to keep that “And I, you, Cas” in the final product.
Which brings me to person number four: Once the dubbing is done? It’s reviewed by the client (In this case, WB Latam), who gives the final say and CAN ask for redubs if necessary.
Story time. When I was doing this for a living, I got a series that had the WEIRDEST line ever. A line that made me triple check I was hearing things right (because it was a damn adlib that I couldn’t check with the script)
It was: “I’ve been listening to jazz even since I was a sperm swimming in my father’s testicles”.
So yeah.
I was a pro, so I didn’t censor it or change it and send it as it was to the director. Who OF COURSE called me and asked “Are you 100% sure that’s the line?” (This was in Japanese, and he didn’t speak Japanese. He trusted me). And I said “yeah, but if you need to change it, we can find another way to say “I’ve been a Jazz fan since before I was born”. “ He, Jack bless him, said “Nah. If that’s the original, let’s keep the original”.
The client was NOT amused and we had to change it in the final product.
Now, this was a throw away line by a secondary character that never appeared again in the series, in a small scene that probably only I remember. And the client still said “Nope, change that”. I’d like to believe that a line that changes the relationship between two main characters would have the same, if not more, scrutiny from TPTB.
Which makes now four people who would have had to either ignore the actions of the rogue translator, or actively participate in a conspiracy to make Destiel Latam canon.
Which, I dunno about you, sounds like way too much effort for something that was going to last for exactly one second before Cas got sucked into the Empty.
Someone made a mistake? Probably. But I am more willing to bet it was whoever sent the master video file to the studio than the dub studio, if that line wasn’t supposed to be there.

Fucking uh . Sailor moon for the fandom askbame ???
Klug, you spoil me, and I'll reward that by spoiling you! Spoilers under the cut!
*clears throat*
The first character I first fell in love with: Makoto Kino, aka Sailor Jupiter. Aside from the fact that her green miniskirt (as Sailor Jupiter) and thunder-based attacks remind me of Luigi, in my opinion, she's the coolest and arguably most competent of all the Inner Senshi.
also susan roman is the best jupes voice and i will fight people on this
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: I'll be honest, when I watched Nephrite's introduction episode, I wasn't happy. How could they massacre my boy Jaedite and instate this washout? But by the end of his arc, he gets to know Molly Naru Osaka and falls in love with her. Although their interactions start bordering on what would happen in a Sonic Says short, Nephrite does a heel-face turn by the end of his arc, and (I think) saves her when Zoisite, his coworker/rival, sends monsters to kill her. Speaking of which...
The character everyone else does that I don't: After Zoisite's monsters kill Nephrite, my already dwindling respect for him fell even lower. Yes, that is the sole reason I hate him, and I was over the moon (pun intended) when he finally kicked it. Unfortunately, trans/GNC rights, so I'll shut up now...
The character I love that everyone else hates: Oh boy, the Charmy Bee slot. I haven't watched that much of season R, but why on earth does everyone hate Chibiusa? Sure, she may be a bit bratty, but she's a child. Okay, she's 900 and in a child's body, but I digress.
The character I used to love but don't any longer: Nobody comes to mind.
The character I'd want to be like: Haruka Tenou/Sailor Uranus. Good-looking, charismatic, and disapproving of gender norms.
The character I'd slap: If I slapped Zoisite he would shred me.
A pairing that I love: Haruka and her girlfriend Michiru. Did I mention Haru's a lesbian?
A pairing that I despise: Mamoru x Usagi is... alright, but it's real vanilla. I don't despise it, it just isn't as engaging for me.

Sailor Stars thoughts:
1. The anime does its absolute best to make the Starlights unlikable. Taiki is a fucking asshole (he won’t even give a dying girl, who he explicitly was taken to visit, an autograph, and tells a bunch of children that their grandfather’s theory about souls becoming stars is dead wrong), Seiya is a Nice Guy who hits on Usagi constantly despite being told multiple times she has a boyfriend, and Yaten is a mildly sarcastic cardboard cutout. I know the manga doesn’t expand on them much but the anime is supposed to help make these people real. Counterexample is Chibi-Chibi, who hardly speaks in the manga and relies on her cuteness alone to be likable. They gave her a very cute voice because it was literally all they had to work with, given how often Chibi-Chibi actually appears
2. The dub cast for the Starlights is frankly awful. As civilians, Taiki alternates between a woman trying too hard to make her voice deep and having a bad cold, Seiya sounds like a prepubescent boy, and Yaten sounds like a woman (which they’re not, as civilians); as Starlights their voices are VERY high pitched, especially Yaten’s. Their sub voices just sound like woman talking a bit deeply and then normal women.
3. Why the FUCK did Toei think literally changing sex was less controversial than crossdressing? The Starlights are women and have always been women. Plus, them being male civilians in the anime creates a paradox, because if they’re men with sailor crystals who can become senshi, why can’t Mamoru - who is confirmed multiple times throughout the series as carrying the earth’s star seed and thus being Sailor Earth - do the same? Naoko said Mamoru can’t be a sailor senshi because he’s a man, but the Starlights don’t abide by this rule, they change their fucking biological sex
4. Why is absolutely no one concerned that Chibi-Chibi, a THREE YEAR OLD, just goes off on her own and has her own little adventures? She wanders into some strange old man’s house and they’re all “oh that’s just Chibi-Chibi,” and no one is worried that a literal stranger invites a three year old into his house where he gives her toys and candy? The 90s were WILD, man
5. Why does Chibi-Chibi, again who is THREE YEARS OLD, have a thigh gap?
6. This one’s on Naoko because it’s like this in the manga, but the anime is supposed to expand on the universe so I blame them too: Why does literally nobody question Chibi-Chibi’s motives? Some strange pink haired child who fucking falls out of the sky one day up and brainwashes Usagi’s mom into thinking she’s her second daughter, and nobody bats an eye at this? That’s sus as fuck and literally the only question anyone has is “is she your kid or Chibiusa’s?” She doesn’t even have a NAME, “chibi” is just a random word she says!
7. I am DIGGING the mobster feel of the Animamates’ civilian forms. Especially Iron Mouse and Tin Nyanko, who clearly launder money through a shady car dealership.
8. The Starlights’ only redeeming qualities are their snazzy entrance music and Seiya’s red suit
9. Why is Aluminum Siren the only Animamate who understands that a senshi has a pure star seeds? Like, y’all killed the senshi of your home planets to take their star seeds so YOU could be senshi (which is presumably why Galaxia wants more seeds, to make more Animamates with them), shouldn’t you know that?
10. Aluminum Siren/Lead Crow are trying their damn hardest to give Harumichi a run for their money in the quest to become the Best Space Lesbians.
11. So the Moon Kingdom fosters loyalty through child soldiers. I’m assuming Queen Serenity has her own senshi in the form of our senshi’s mothers, etc. (Which begs the question of if the Asteroid Senshi are supposed to be the future kids of our senshi or if they too are child soldiers from the asteroids they’re named after.) Kinmoku seems to foster loyalty by having the Kakyuu’s senshi fall in unrequited love with her. (In the manga it’s stated Kakyuu has a husband who died when their planet was destroyed.) I mean, whatever works, right?
12. I LOVE Tin Nyanko’s dub voice. She’s only around Usagi’s age and she sounds it
13. The dub actress for Lead Crow seems like she’s half assing it. Her voice doesn’t raise properly when she yells, she never sounds really angry, and it’s just so odd. I find a lot of dub voices do this, while the original Japanese VAs will scream their lungs out into the mic
14. On the reverse, Galaxia’s voice actress is a badass. She’s supposed to have a deep menacing voice but I like the one they gave her in the dub. She’s quiet, and sounds almost kind, and that’s a fucking TERRIFYING sort of villain we don’t see a lot of. Even when she’s pissed she doesn’t raise her voice.
15. Why are Lead Crow and Tim Nyanko the same height? Lead Crow is like 5’10 and Tin Nyanko is 4’11 like Sailor Moon
16. As an aside, Tin Nyanko and Lead Crow don’t like each other, which reminds me of the cats vs crows trash can showdown in Haikyuu lol
17. Haruka’s hate boner for Seiya gives me life
18. FINALLY someone calls the Starlights out on being assholes but it’s only after Makoto sees them harassing a THREE YEAR OLD (Chibi-Chibi). Literally everyone BUT Usagi thinks they’re assholes. “They sing such beautiful songs!” Bro. You can sing pretty and still be a fucking dick.
19. Lead Crow goes after Sailor Moon only after reading Siren’s notebook. Ditzy SIREN is the smartest Animamate, lord help them
20. Kakyuu’s dub voice is SO GOOD. She’s my favorite minor character, I’m still bitter they didn’t show Sailor Kakyuu
21. Seiya’s crush on Usagi was so awkwardly shoehorned in. I hate it. Jesus fucking Christ Usagi is sobbing in the goddamn rain about how much she misses Mamoru and Seiya is STILL coming onto her.
22. It is literally so fucking funny to me that Mamoru spends all of Stars fucking dead. He’s just a perpetual damsel in distress.
23. Rei literally lectures Usagi about leading Seiya on and how “you need to do the right thing and tell him you already have someone,” AS IF USAGI HASN’T BEEN DOING THAT AT EVERY AVAILABLE OPPORTUNITY. THE FIRST TIME THEY MET SHE SAID SHE HAD A BOYFRIEND, SHE’S TOLD SEIYA OVER AND OVER THAT SHE ISN’T INTERESTED IN HIM, THAT SHE’S GOT A BOYFRIEND, THAT SHE LOVES HER BOYFRIEND. The fucking MISOGYNY here, like it’s Usagi leading Seiya on instead of Seiya being a fucking Nice Guy who can’t take no for a goddamn answer. Shut the fuck up, Rei.
24. Pretty sure under Kakyuu’s headdress is a pair of odango
25. The fact that Iron Mouse and Aluminum Siren both die when their bracelets are removed yet Tin Nyanko doesn’t implies that Tin Nyanko was the original Sailor Mau. Mouse and Siren dying implies that forcing senshi powers on a civilian is dangerous and that Galaxia’s bracelets are the only thing keeping them alive (albeit brainwashed). Yet Tin Nyanko seems to revert to “good” when one of her bracelets is destroyed. Galaxia has to intervene and kill her personally. Tin Nyanko may have offered her senshi powers to spare Mau (this applies only in the anime; in the manga she’s explicitly said to have killed Sailor Mau)
26. Oooh Galaxia’s angry voice is so commanding and sexy
27. Don’t gimme that “we love Usagi but we love you Starlights just as much.” No you fucking don’t. The whole death scene in the anime is just so... ugh. Bad.
28. The Outers fighting Galaxia is hilarious. They’re supposed to be stronger than the Inners yet Galaxia never even has to get out of her chair to kick their asses. The writers were trying real hard to make us fear the worst and back the senshi into a corner but literally they’ve made this an impossible battle to win that only becomes winnable due to plot armor.
29. Rewatching Stars and classic after Eternal and Crystal makes me miss the battle damage the fuku took. The new series always has them looking pristine, but in classic they actually get roughed up and battle scarred. It makes it more real.
30. Aww how come Uranus and Neptune got to keep their names when they joined Galaxia? I wanna know what whack ass Animamate name they would’ve gotten. (Also Galaxia literally just sent them out like Pokémon, wtf)
31. I feel like Saturn dying shouldn’t be possible since she’s literally a senshi of death but... whatever, go off I guess.
32. So.... Uranus and Neptune joining Galaxia to try and take her star seed is a cool idea that absolutely did not happen in the manga, and needed more than half an episode of development. Would’ve been a cool plot if it wasn’t so rushed.
33. So much of this season was rushed so they could tie the series up at a beat 200 episodes. If they really didn’t want to go over 200, they should’ve cut the Nehelennia arc (which isn’t in the manga anyway) and and focused on developing the Animamates, this sweet Harumichi betrayal plot, and explaining Chibi-Chibi??? Her existence makes no sense without Sailor Cosmos, and they just... didn’t include her??? Wtf

Bonus Question Answers! (non-anime animated noms)
This was SO. FUCKING. HARD. This question went so much better than I expected, and I’m only sad I lack the artistic skills to make it all a reality.
Below, my PAINSTAKINGLY selected top answers, If yours is listed below, you’ve earned an entry in a random draw to win a GIFTENING liveblog OF YOUR CHOICE
---
Q: The Senshi suddenly find themselves in a very different animated world. Which cartoon power (think Looney Tunes) do they each now possess?
*  Usagi can make literal rainbows happen when she smiles.  Rei can set anything on fire with her mind (she feels a bit cheated because she can do that at home too).  Ami can write down anything in her special notebook and it literally changes reality around her (she does not share this with her fellow Senshi, because she knows the full weight of this power.  She did, however, write Michiru having a bad hair day for just one day.  Just one.)  Makoto has the ability to pull out any ingredient she wants from any pantry/door/closet.  She usually uses this for cooking purposes, so she won't have to purchase groceries.  Minako has the ability to mimic any voice in the world, whether she has heard it or not.  Hijinks ensue.  The Outer Senshi sensibly escaped from the new animated world right after Michiru recovered from her bad hair day.  They don't speak of the experience. -- @amberlilly  [The whole thing was so solid, but what absolutely sent it over the top for me was Ami using her powers to fuck with Michiru in the most petty benign way, which is EVERYTHING.]
*  Usagi is definitely rocking the exaggerated tear gushers.  Ami can pull charts/diagrams out of nowhere at any time.  Rei combusts when she gets sufficiently mad.  Makoto has birds fly around when she sings while cooking or cleaning.  Minako breaks the fourth wall to make jokes and asides to the audience.  Chibi-Usa is somehow able to walk through ludicrous danger without getting touched, because the censors won't allow kids to be hurt in this show. Haruka can make girls melt into puddles of goo with her flirting.  Michiru can summon a servant at any time to take care of an unpleasant or potentially dirty task for her (including to take the slapstick comedy for her).  Setsuna has access to the script.  Hotaru just sort of appears sometimes, just standing there, silently and menacingly, but never does anything on-screen (though you may hear the occasional off-screen screaming).  Oh, and while I'd like to say Mamoru gains the power of inexplicable entrances... he kinda already has that one.  --Darkcloud k'California  [Again, I loved all these, but particularly Chibs saved by the censors, Michiru’s poor hapless slapstick avatar, and everything about Hotaru, thank you.]
*  Usagi: The power to be found charming by every character she encounters and somehow escape all consequences and damage by simply remaining oblivious, a la Tweety Bird.
Rei: The power to explode, reducing her surroundings to charred wasteland, but remain relatively unscathed (perhaps a bit singed)
Ami: The power to grow multiple arms, hands, and hundreds of fingers in order to do tech stuff
Makoto: The power to punch someone through a brick wall, possibly several, and into someone's family dinner. It's always some surprised-looking family's private event. Often the same family.
Minako: the power to, Bugs Bunny style, apply lipstick and seduce ANYTHING. Which, according to her, is a power she already has.
Haruka: The power to run off a cliff and keep going until she looks down. She never learns to not look down.
Michiru: The power to stick a pin into any other character and cause them to deflate like a balloon
Hotaru: She just gets to actually be used. It is thrilling.
Pluto: She will observe this strange planet from afar with her huge telescope and breathe the Martian air and look great in a kilt and Roman-style helmet. --  @incorrecttact  [Your set-up and punchline delivery style on all of these was perfection, and I legit lol’d at Mako and the poor family she continually interrupts.]
* to make dynamite go BOOM (Rei obviously); to have their opponent chase them to the point where they're floating in midair and then their opponent falls 5000 feet but they calmly walk back to land (like Wil E Coyote & the Roadrunner) (Usagi); the power to blow kisses to their opponent (which are clearly poisonous and end up killing the chap) (Minako); the power to have their opponent's entire arm shattered if they try to even punch them lightly on the arm (Makoto - this is canon anyways, but moreso exaggerated here hehe); to open a book and start reading it out loud and words start showing up on screen, confusing tf out of their opponent (Ami - also canon already)  --@midnightdrops  [Each of these were great, but Usagi and Mako as you described them totally sold me.]
* usagi: can now float on yummy aromas, so long as they lead her somewhere tasty! the others play a quick tournament of jun-ken-pon each time it happens to determine who will be responsible for steering her from blissfully drifting into traffic. again.
ami: is now possessed of x-ray vision! only she can neither turn it off, nor control its intensity. she is working on developing a set of goggles to dampen the effect, and secretly hopes they will make her look like geordi laforge.
rei: rei-chan is now blessed with the power of song! her heartfelt melodies soften the malice of even the most one-dimensional baddie, and influence public policy on a global scale. international success life, yo! i guess she's really a hard worker!
makoto: has become something of a cartoon cupid! in a poorly-ventilated room, her mere presence has bystanders declaring their love for one another within minutes*; and her decadent wedding cakes are the hit of second marriages across the country. *all of them so like her old senpai, and none of them falling for her, alas!
minako: employs her considerable powers of confidence and charm to convince the others she now has access to Plot Manipulation, mainly by engineering and taking ownership of a series of happy accidents. her real power is to literally jump out of her skin when she's startled*, and she has no intention of EVER letting the others know about it.  *minako discovered this new ability while she was changing a roll of toilet paper, and a spider dropped onto her hand. the leader of the inner senshi had never been so horrified. her bones were so slick and cold, her skin a hideous unwiped pile, and then THE SPIDER CRAWLED INTO THE PILE and she STILL doesn't know if it ever got out and sometimes her skin itches REALLY bad and you know what let's stop talking about this right now okay???
setsuna: can now manifest a giant pencil and erase the enemy! but doing so would be breaking The Greatest Taboo, and leave her impaled upon the pencil.
haruka: her new empathetic ability is remarkably similar to Ma-Ti's "heart" ring (Captain Planet and the Planeteers, 1990 - 1996). basically, she's just like really soft at you, and it inspires you to take more positive actions toward yourself and the world at large? she protests about wishing she'd received something tough and intimidating, but secretly is very moved by being made an instrument of kindness.
michiru: her intuition has mutated into fourth wall awareness, and the subtlety with which she makes this known to you is SO GODDAMN UNCOMFORTABLE OH MY GOD
hotaru: can now not only communicate with inanimate objects, but also render them permanently animate! you should have been there during the princess tutu crossover episode when she met lamp-chan - they're STILL inseparable, and chibiusa is SUPER jealous. speaking of which,
chibiusa: can now use hammerspace to store her endless series of magical geegaws and weird animal boyfriends.  -- @rasiqra-revulva  [Dude, you have got to stop making me snort laugh, it’s RUDE. Pure solid gold, every word, with a special nod to Haruka, MICHIRU, and Minako’s extended tragic cartoon backstory.]
* Usagi - like her name suggests, she is now Bunny. By which I mean she is now a very pink and blonde bunny (somewhere between Bugs and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit), but with super-elastic limbs to accompany her new form. Ami - Magical Science Powers up to and including ‘mix one brightly colored liquid in flask with another brightly colored liquid in flask, explosion, get hammer.’ Rei - An infinite supply of dynamite she can pull out of nowhere. This shouldn’t be as useful as it is. Mako - Literally suplexed a giant metallic youma not just untransformed, but before she has Senshi powers at all. I fully believe she could lift an anvil in canon. Minako - While Usagi looks like a rabbit, Mina now has the supernatural trickster abilities of Bugs Bunny. Implausibly effective bad disguises, persuasion, showing up out of nowhere. Chibs - Now that gun from her first appearance is a real gun, but it shoots anything from normal bullets to pies in the face to live birds. Pluto - The fourth wall is a real and tangible thing. Pluto can not just break it, but control it. If she wants to remove a layer of cel or suddenly turn things into sketch, she can do it. If she wants to teleport, she can skip in the animation. If she wants to suddenly appear as a Roger Rabbit-style cartoon in a live action field, or vice versa? Yeah, she can do that too. She basically uses this power to warp the layers of her cartoonish reality for pastry acquisition. Haruka - You’d think it would be Roadrunner speed. Haruka thinks it will be Roadrunner speed. But no, it isn’t. Space Jam is Looney Tunes, and Haruka’s power is Basketball. Michiru - Another power that’s just canonical: Wealth. Ridiculous, tremendous wealth. Hotaru - The funniest thing for Hotaru to be in a zany cartoon world is Even More Spooky. Nothing changes except the artstyle and a ridiculous supervillain cape.  -- Regalli  [Pluto, man. Fantastic and brilliant and I legit WANT THIS. Also though, Hotaru with a cape.]
*  Usagi gains the ability to eat anything and everything like the Tazmanian Devil, though she shares none of his aggressive personality; Minako enjoys fucking with people by bending reality (you know, diving into painted tunnels and stuff like that); Ami is able to utilize and test unreal technology without harm, like jet boots, massive bombs, tornado seeds, etc.; Mako uses body manipulations to change her size and shape--especially for blocking attacks to protect people or grabbing people (coupled with her immense strength); and Rei is the only one aware of the audience beyond the Fourth Wall... She tries not to talk to them but sometimes she just can't help it, especially when Usagi is getting on her nerves.  -- @thehubby  [I said pander to me, and you absolutely did. I can’t stop thinking about Rei trying not to make fourth wall eye contact, then just whirling around all “CAN YOU FUCKING BELIEVE THIS SHIT??!?” and as it turns out, that IS precisely what I wanted.]

I’ll be drawing for the bonus liveblog around the start of THE GIFTENING 2020 (currently looking to be Monday, 11 January 2021). Each bonus question is another chance to earn an entry, so keep those answers coming! I CAN ABSOLUTELY AND SHAMELESSLY BE BOUGHT.

Moon Tiara No-Action
I re-watched Sailor Moon episode 51 (that’s Sailor Moon R episode 5 btw) on a whim recently. It’s an episode that always left an impression on me due to Usagi’s triumphant return to action, complete with a new transformation sequence and attack (the Moon Princess Halation).
However, upon rewatching it something chaffed in the storytelling for me.
For context, at the end of episode 46 (and Sailor Moon Classic) Usagi used the Silver Crystal’s power to resurrect herself, her friends and Mamoru with no memory of their adventures throughout the season. In effect they were reset to how they were in episode 1 as Usagi wished to just be a normal girl, not a warrior.
In an earlier episode Sailor Moon’s iconic tiara based attack abruptly failed, a problem she continued to have in this episode when she tries to rescue her friends.
The monster of the week consequently retaliates, Usagi’s transformation broach shatters (reverting her to normal) and she is dragged down into a kind of void by the monster’s power. Luna tries to help but is dragged in herself.
Through Luna’s exposition we learn that Usagi’s tiara and transformation have failed because deep down she still wishes she could be a normal girl. So long as she feels that way she cannot become Sailor Moon.
This leads Usagi to desperately question how then she is to save her friends.
The scene then cuts to a different location with Usagi cradling Luna.
Now, I’ve consulted 2 subtitled versions (neither of which are the new official Viz translations) along with the Viz dub for this scene so there are some nuances but I will try to give you the gist of the rest of the scene.
Usagi looks down at the (seemingly?) unconscious Luna and essentially comments on how loyal/vulnerable (it is different across translations) she looks and how she gives her a hard time. She apologises for dragging her into this. Due to the context of the scene, the season and the series logically ‘this’ is referring to the specific situation of this episode, i.e. Usagi and Luna being lost in a void or possibly dead.
Queen Serenity then appears and informs Usagi they are in her mind/soul/heart (again…translations…). She gives Usagi the Silver Crystal, integrating it with her broken broach. She explains her desire to save her friends has essentially made it possible for her to have the Crystal. In the Viz dub this is explained as Usagi’s desire has formed the Crystal, implying it’s been formed for this specific moment. In both the subs I consulted she simply says her desire to save her friends has ‘protected’ the Silver Crystal, opening up the possibility that she was referring to the end of Season 1/episode 46 when Usagi initially used the Crystal to resurrect everyone. I suspect this was a mistranslation or something and the intent was more episode specific.
Anyway, the point is with the new broach Usagi can transform again (and is presumably more powerful), returns from the void with Luna and saves the day with her new weapon and attack.
So what’s the problem here?
Well, at face value there is at least 1, arguably 2 deus ex machinas in play here. I’m not that concerned about those because frankly…that’s just kind of the nature of this show. Story resolutions like that occurred before episode 51 and oh boy did they occur afterwards too. Deus ex machinas are arguably baked into the internal logic of the Sailor Moon show.
What had me more bothered was the resolution to Usagi’s internal conflict. The notion that her powers would fail her because deep down she didn’t want to be a warrior is fine, I get that. But it’s the idea that this is resolved because she very strongly wants to protect her friends. The problem with this is threefold:
In the first episode of Sailor Moon R, Usagi’s memories were restored by Luna and she was very much upset over that, and yet her powers worked just fine when she was rescuing Naru
In episode 50 when her tiara initially failed she was trying to rescue Mamoru along with her brother and father
She was trying to save her friends when her powers failed her in episode 51
The last one just doesn’t seem to add up on face value. But collectively all three seem to imply that Usagi cares more for Naru than her father, brother, lover and millennia long friends which is rather ridiculous.
Is this bad writing? Perhaps. But in the case of points b)-c) I think it’s bad due to a failure of communication rather than the writers just not bothering with logic. Allow me to propose some explanations for the above. And with point a) I think it’s possible to offer up some logical explanations.
Usagi’s initial ability to save Naru might’ve just been a case of the ‘heat of the moment’ combined with disorientation and Usagi’s presumptions in that episode.
Between the animation and the voice acting in the original Japanese version it’s clear that having her memories restored was not unlike awakening from a dream for Usagi. And she had her energy drained twice, which we know takes a toll on your mental faculties.
Additionally upon ‘awakening’ Usagi was IMMEDIATELY told by Luna that there was an immediate crisis at hand that urgently needed Sailor Moon.
Not to take the Sailor Soldier thing too literally, but in terms of Usagi’s mental state this not unlike a soldier in a combat zone being abruptly awoken to deal with an immediate danger. Whatever dreams or insecurities were plaguing their mind would get pushed down or (temporarily) cast out entirely as they enter ‘combat mode’. Or if you like, this is not unlike a fire fighter awoken by an emergency. Only in this case the fire would be right on the doorstep of the firehouse. Forget thinking, forget feeling, it’s time to act.
But it’s more than that because in context, Usagi didn’t know the exact nature of the threat she was facing in episode 47. I don’t just mean the exact type of monster-of-the-week. Rather she had no idea she was now dealing with another evil group with a host of monsters she’d have to deal with. In her mind she might’ve believed she just had to take out this one creature and then it’d be back to normal. In fact she didn’t know she was dealing with that until episode 48.
By episode 50-51, she’d met Ail and An and faced enough Cardians to know she was in for another ‘long haul’. So any optimism she might’ve held about this being but temporary would’ve been gone. Of course she continued to transform during these episodes*
What gives.
Well…the human mind is a weird thing. What is at the back of your mind can be brought closer to the forefront under certain circumstances. It’s not the case that you feel just one way or another and this neatly determines how you act. If Usagi’s transformations are linked with her emotions, it’s entirely possible that her desire to protect innocent people and her friends in the heat of the moment was enough to prompt a transformation. But her desire to be normal was ultimately restricting her powers from working 100%.
As the Cardians continued to grow more frequent the ‘melancholy’ over her lost normalcy might have in turn grown stronger and thus restricted her powers yet more. Noticeably in episode 50, when Usagi’s tiara first stops working, she’s trying to protect her father, her brother and a (amnesic) Mamoru. The Cardians are in essence violating her normalcy in a MAJOR way in this moment and she’s not ‘dazed’ in any way as she was in episode 47 when she first dealt with a Cardian. In the context of that episode she was clear headed, aware that this was just the latest in a string of Cardian battles and there would inevitably be more to come. And they have not just interrupted her civilian life but the single most personal parts of that life, her family.
Psychologically it’s not impossible for this to all coalesce into bringing Usagi’s desire for normalcy to the forefront of her mind, hence her tiara first stops working.
Equally, in episode 51 Usagi’s civilian friends (Naru and Umino) were attacked by a Cardian and everyone’s plans for a nice day out were ruined too. Combined with the failure of her tiara last time, it’s easy to grasp why Usagi’s subconscious was interfering with her powers in this episode.
This then brings us back to the biggest inconsistency.
Usagi wants to be a normal girl and this holds her back from functioning as Sailor Moon and saving her friends.
However, wanting to save her friends is what resolves this problem and lets her function as Sailor Moon.
…Wut…????????????
Okay, well the first thing to consider is who is directly in danger here?
It is the Inner Senshi. Of course Usagi loves them dearly, they are her closest friends. But they are more than that, they are her comrades. Her fellow Sailor Guardians/Warriors…Soldiers.
In a sense they are living reminders that she is not a normal girl like she wants to be. Her friendships with them can function like normal people of course, but they were primarily forged through being super heroines.
Of course, I’m not trying to suggest Usagi secretly resents her friends or anything. Rather I’m saying that if Usagi is weakened by her desire to be normal, that desire would be more prevalent in her mind when she has to be a soldier to fight an enemy to save her fellow soldiers. The whole situation is hitting her over the head with the fact that she is a soldier i.e. NOT a regular teenage civilian.
This then brings us to the second factor. In real life, soldiers forge extremely powerful emotional bonds with one another due to their shared experiences. I think the falling into that void and realizing she had truly failed essentially made Usagi begin to re-evaluate her priorities.
She wanted to be a normal girl, but now she was seemingly lost and her beloved comrades were soon to die to her desire to save them overpowered the former.
But the dialogue across all translations is clear. It’s not enough that Usagi simply develop a new stronger desire, but outright lose the desire to be normal.
And the key to that I think was in fact Luna. When Usagi saw how vulnerable she was, when she realized how difficult she made things for her and how apologetic she was for prompting Luna to share her doomed fate, I think Usagi’s desire for normalcy dissipated.
I say dissipated. I doubt it was ever really gone per se. Rather, I think Usagi came to a moment of acceptance. She accepted she wasn’t normal. She accepted she wasn’t going to be. She accepted she was a soldier. She might’ve liked to have been normal, but she was no longer subconsciously resisting her situation and grieving what she’d lost.**
It’s no coincidence that when Usagi admits she gives Luna a hard time and apologises for dooming her that Queen Serenity appears and gives her the crystal.
To sum up:
Usagi always wanted to protect her friends, but was subconsciously grieving her lost normalcy, a loss her friends were embodiments of.
That grief compromised her power thereby causing her to be lost, totally fail her friends, including Luna.
This failure was the push Usagi needed to reaffirm her affection to her friends and accept her lost normalcy.
Her grief no longer blinding her to her desire to protect her friends, she gained access to the Silver Crystal and was able to fulfill that desire in that episode and all the ones after.
I won’t lie to you, a lot of this was rationalizations on my part, especially the stuff prior to episode 51. In truth I think the writers just came up with the idea of Usagi’s tiara not working the episode before to justify her upgrade in episode 51. This explains the apparent discrepancies in episode 51 compared to earlier in the season.
However, I do feel that the ultimate resolution to episode 51 is narratively justified within the episode itself, just not as clearly communicated or as built up as it could have been.
* But noticeably she never used her tiara implying it might’ve failed even earlier than it did.
Additionally episode 51 makes it a bit ambiguous as to whether being able to transform is strictly speaking linked with Usagi’s mental hang-up, or if it only affectets her tiara. It wouldn’t be illogical if it was just the latter. Transforming is akin to turning a switch, she just takes the broach and says the magic words. Actually using her abilities though, i.e. actively fighting, would demand she put more heart and soul into what she’s doing.
For the sake of argument though let’s say that yes, Usagi’s mental hang-up could affect her ability to transform as well as her tiara attack.
**We could extrapolate this all the way into the end of the series in fact.
In the final moments of the very last episode Usagi is a civilian, evil has been vanquished and for good this time. She even knows the Black moon clan in the future are destined to fail.
To all intents and purposes she really is JUST a normal girl…and yet she internally refers to herself as the soldier of love and justice, Sailor Moon.

WIP Ami mizuno aka Princess Mercury
She is No longer the Sailor senshi of Mercury. Instead she is it mage and Calling herself now Princess Mercury.
Her Device is called MAXLPSIIC (Mercury, Aqua, Xelion, Life,Protector,System Imperial,Ice,Crystal) which has a happy Male voice that sound like Antony Del Rio.
But she calls MAXLPSIIC for Axl for short.
Her container for Axl is the Mercury harp Which she plays the strings to activate it.
When Ami regains her memories of the true silver millennium her personality changed a little.
She turns more braver, mishevieous and more happier when she remebered the love and support she got from her mother the Queen of Mercury and her friends.
She is also more understanding and tries to help Usagi through her study with different study technuiqes.
She works best with Minako because of their different abilities and thinking. Later on she also work together with Michiru under the Infinity arc.
Her past name was Princess Athena of Mercurian empire.
Her Magic is over Ice, mist, illusions and also Poison/medicine which makes her a very dangerous for to face.
Her barrier jacket is based on thieves, tricksters and lolita with a mix of ancient warrior.
Axl has three forms which is a revolver, dagger and raiper and later gets an upgrade to a shooter staff.
Ami suprises the whole team when she shows them that she is a real master in fencing.
But she needs still help fighting in shortrange and be able to use hand to hand combat. Which she gets help from her friends.
When they meet the outers for the first time the outer Senshi really underestemated Ami and the Girls and got the beating of their lives for that.
And that is Why you should never be disrespectful against the inner mages ever again when little sister Ami is ready to sass back.

Sailor Moon S episode 23 (112) was pretty interesting. Seems the Death Busters have their own Messiah of Silence or something who asks for Pure Hearts in a voice that doesn’t seem to belong to the body that the Messiah appears to be. Because see, the professor talks to this girl who looks exactly like Sailor Saturn, and in fact this episode is where Saturn does make her real proper debut, albeit base form as a girl called Hotaru, who doesn’t seem at all evil, has healing powers in her base form which she’s bullied for, befriends Chibiusa, whose dad is actually the professor man, and most importantly, who is just off the charts adorable. Like everything about this girl’s appearance and voice is just, perfect, she’s a really excellent brand of moe, Ami-chan might have competition? We’ll see as we learn more about her, I suppose. Also in this episode, Mimet takes over as our main recurring villain, and tbh I don’t like her, she’s kinda annoying. Crushes on her target and gets bitchy when target has no interest in her. A shame because I quite liked Eugeal. Since we’ve still got 3 other Witches 5 girls after her I’m assuming she won’t last that long at least, so hey that’s good. Also in this episode, Sailor Pluto’s attack makes its debut! Its name is “Dead Scream” which is, uh, a bit extreme, but the actual animation is like, more or less recycled from World Shaking and Deep Submerge, but now it’s some freaky purple energy rather than Earth or Water elemental stuff. We only see the flying ball part of the attack so there is probably more to the sequence, and hey that’s something to look forward to. Also of note is that Pluto actually tells Usagi to transform into her second form again, so that white skirt form will be a recurring thing, and hey that’s kinda cool. She says “Crisis Make Up” to transform and her attack is the Rainbow Moon Heartache, which seems to function more or less identical to Moon Spiral Heart Attack except like, a bit stronger I guess. I’m hoping as Usagi gets more and more stuff, the other Sailor Soldiers aren’t left in the dust. I don’t mind Usagi being the strongest but I don’t want her to totally eclipse everyone else.
Meanwhile, episode 24 (113) was also super good! That’s right by the way, I watched a Friday episode on time for once! Anyway this episode opens on like, an expository conversation between Mamoru, Setsuna, Haruka and Michiru, where the latter 3 reveal that they are the Outer Senshi I’ve heard so much about and were deliberately given greater powers than the inner senshi to protect Silver Millennium from threats outside of the solar system, and also they’re not working with Usagi and that specifically because they’re so much stronger and so Usagi’s lot would be a burden. I’ll take that, what has me curious is where Saturn would fit into this since Uranus, Neptune and Pluto claim to be like, the only 3 Outer Senshi, but I feel like Saturn would be considered Outer. We’ll see. Speaking of Saturn, Hotaru Tomoe is just, oh my god she’s at a level of cuteness that is borderline upsetting in that it really drives home that anime girls don’t exist, fuck. In this episode she chills with Chibiusa and Usagi for a bit, and when she touches Usagi’s brooch she’s actually kind of consumed by I guess her Dark Messiah half for a little bit, just because of the power. That’s pretty interesting, definitely suggests at least that when she becomes Sailor Saturn, that really will be us seeing her become Sailor Saturn, which is cool because every Sailor Soldier since Minako has just always been a Sailor Soldier - we’ve not seen anyone become one for a while. Hotaru’s super great already I love her, can’t wait to learn more about her. Oh also we see the start of Dead Scream, it’s pretty sick, also Usagi just combines Crisis Make Up and Rainbow Moon Heartache into one fairly lengthy finishing move animation and hey that’s fine by me, though if she misses the attack or something I wonder how helpful she’ll be. Cool episode, Mimet’s still kinda lame.
Anyway I’ll be late on tomorrow’s episode, possibly Sunday’s too, but that’s fine.

I started watching the Dungeon Meshi anime few days ago (just switched to the manga since I'm caught up) and I can now report that the phenomenon of developing an inner Senshi voice telling you to eat right and take care of yourself is Real and True

Sometimes I do have to remind myself that I can actually write
I just went through a bunch of scraps and snippets and a huge pile of the awesome stuff @clockworkangel and me have been creating for our decade long head canon.
It’s obviously part of an AU, but it works without much further context as well soooo... enjoy, I guess?
She knew approaching Michiru wouldn't be easy. Minako had tried before and every attempt had failed. Aside from any official gathering Michiru ignored her. She didn't even so much as to look at her and while she and Haruka had every damn right to do so, Minako could no longer bare to be avoided like this.
She didn't hope for some kind of miracle. Minako was after all clever enough not to expect some kind of heartwarming reunion, not after everything, not after what she had done to both of them in the past. If anything Minako had to finally get these damned words out and off her chest and what better place was there to ask Michiru Kaioh for forgiveness then this?
Maybe it came with a certain irony to it, but at least that's what Minako thought Michiru seeked from this place herself. She came here frequently. Minako had found out about this rather by accident and quite some time ago. However, it at least gave an explanation to why the roses on the side never seemed to wither.  White roses, the color of innocence, untouched by time. There always were 41 one of them. No more, no less, one for every name written on the memorial side.
Minako wondered for how long Michiru had brought them up here. A long time for sure, for the undying flowers had already become some strange kind of legend among the villagers. Lost in her own thoughts it caught Minako off guard when Michiru suddenly addressed her and she silently cursed herself for the second her attention had wandered off.
„What do you want.“
Michiru didn’t even bother to turn around. She had sensed Minako’s aura long before the leader of the inner senshi had approached her. Michiru’s voice however, as well as her posture was everything else then welcoming. It no longer surprised Minako, it really didn’t, yet it still send a cold shiver down her back. All of this used to be so different…
Minako straightened herself, not willing to give up just yet, not this time anyway.
„I wanted to talk.“
She half a step forward and immediately regretted her mistake as Michiru now turned with cold, blue eyes piercing merciless down at Minako’s soul.
„About what.“
Michiru barely raised her voice. She didn’t have to and Minako knew enough about Michiru’s powers to know she had to raise less than a finger to shut her up and send the sea down at her- quite literally. Yet for some reason Michiru didn’t and this gave Minako the faint illusion she might have some kind of chance.
„You know about what.“
Minako didn’t move close, but she also didn’t step back and therefore met Michiru somewhat eye to eye with all the authority and strength she could master.
„No I don’t. And it doesn’t matter for I don’t wish to hear it.“
With this Michiru turn to take her leave, distanced, unapproachable and not even willing to give Minako one chance to speak her mind. It was this very last point that silently made Minako’s fist tremble and finally made her snap. She through all her caution down with the wind.
„Michiru wait!“
Some nearby birds loudly complained and took their leave as Minako rushed to catch up with her former friend and ally.
„God damn it! Listen, I am sorry! I know this doesn’t make anything undone and I wish I could take it back, but Michiru please…“
Michiru abruptly stopped and turned again, making Minako stop in return. Everything about the atmosphere between them felt strangely dangerous. Michiru wasn’t openly aggressive towards her, yet everything about her carefully put together calmness reminded Minako at the sea right before the storm.
„Take it back?“
Michiru kept staring at her, her head tilted ever so slightly and Minako nearly expected to feel a familiar pressure on her chest or water filling her lungs with every further word.
„Tell me Minako, which part exactly?“
Minako didn’t dare to move. She didn’t even dare to speak and the simple ‚all of it‘ she had formed in her thoughts, even if it was the truth, suddenly felt plain and flat without any meaning.
„The days of torture? The living hell you send her through? Every second of every day you broke her? All those nights her mind wanders back to it and she wakes up screaming and terrified at a place where  your chains hold her down and even I can’t reach her?“
She never would be able to argue against Michiru’s accusation, yet still every last one of them hurt. To know what she had done to Haruka, who had called one of her closest friends…it was still different to hear Michiru throw all of it back to her. Minako swallowed hard as she forced back the memories that had come back for her. They would hunt her later she knew, but right now she couldn’t deal with both her guilt and Michiru standing infront of her.
„You need to believe me Michiru.“
Somehow Minako still found enough courage and strength not to back away.
„If I could do anything to help her I would have done it already and a long time ago!“
She had tried.. she had wanted to take at least some part of the pain and suffering she caused away. The fanatic damage she had done however was way deeper and by now had eaten and buried itself deep into Haruka’s very existence and soul.Into this last parts that had not completely vanished.
„It doesn’t matter.“
Michiru’s voice was sharp, her words some kind of eternal judgement in which clearly wasn’t any sympathy or pity left for Minako who so desperately tried to fix whatever bond she still saw between them. After all it was nothing more than a fool’s phantasy, never to come true, never again to be real and Michiru didn’t see the point why she should even spend one more second mourning some kind of friendship that had been lost long ago.
„Michiru please… I came to ask for forgiveness…We are all senshi after all. We are meant to protect this world together!“
Minako knew by now she didn’t have any right to appeal to Michiru’s kindness or anything along that thought. Yet as her former friendship no longer meant anything, maybe it was at least her duty as a soldier Minako could call upon. Michiru’s opinion however clearly also differed in this point as well.
„We might be, but all your comradeship was a farce to begin with. It is still.“
In these times the rift between them had become clearer then ever. Maybe they had been friends at some point; maybe even Michiru would have said so. For quite some time even she had been lured into this comfortable and happy feeling, but what had happened recently had not only strengthened her power and tested them all, but it also made Michiru see more clearly now. Ever since chaos had spread their little community had start to crumple. Each of them carried an own shadow into their hearts, and even after their victory distrust was rooted deep. It corrupted them all from the beginning and Michiru could even feel it now.
„That’s not true. We all have been friends!“
Michiru thought Minako to sound too much like her princess now, and while she had stopped counting how often Usagi had hold this pledge to her, she sighed rather annoyed for Minako, who should know better, trying the same.
„Listen, we all screwed up; like…really bad and in an unspeakable and horrible way. If it wouldn’t have been for you guys we would have brought Crystal Tokyo to ruins, but out of everyone, shouldn’t you be the one to understand?“
Minako now longer knew which part of Michiru she tried to reach - the one that used to be her friend, or the soldier resting within. Both of it however proofed to be a poor choice, for Michiru never even questioned why Venus and her Inners fell together with their princess.
„I understand. I know why you did what you did.“
Minako didn’t quite believe the words she just had witnessed. They were the faintest hint of a connection Michiru had denied her for month now, but it also was a bridge to be torn down before her as Michiru continued.
„But tell me Minako, when did you ever truly forgive us for Galaxia?“
Michiru never even expected an answer. One way or the other they both knew the truth already and for Michiru it was a simple pleasure to see the young woman in front of her defeated.
„I am not the princess. I do not share her forgiveness.“
Thanks for dropping by! I hope you had a good time and maybe liked it?
If you want to share your thoughts just go ahead ^^

Sera Myu Tag!
I wanted to do this so I’m gonna say I was tagged by @sailorzakuro ! Putting it under a cut because it’s long
1) You are Myu fan since…?
2013! I found a clip from La Reconquista on Youtube and wanted to check it out.
2) The 1st Musical you saw?
La Reconquista!
3) Your Favorite Musical?
For old myu it’s Kaguya Shima Densetsu Kaiteiban
For new myu it’s either Petite Etrangere or Un Nouveau Voyage
4) Your Favorite Sailor Moon Actress?
Satomi! Even though she can’t really sing....
5) Say one positive thing about every Sailor Moon Actress.
Anza: Really set the bar high for her successors. A great actress and singer.
Fumina: Very elegant and I like her voice.
Miyuki: A perfect Usagi, she was a great performer.
Marina: A great singer and dancer. She was amazing, especially considering she was only 12 when she got the part.
Satomi: Real life Usagi to me. Such a great actress, she really nailed the part.
Hotaru: Really cute, and she did a good job even though she was thrown into the middle of the story.
6) Is Sera Myu your favorite version of Sailor Moon?
Yes, as well as the old anime and PGSM.
7) Who is your favorite cast member?
Old myu: Hikari Ono
New myu: Riona Tatemichi
8) Are your first favorites your actual favorites? (name them)
I always loved Satomi and her Inners (from PE and UNV), and they are still among my favorites. Since then I have gotten a lot more favorites though, like Nao and Yuuka, Ayumi Murata, RIONA, Sayaka Fujioka, Mikako Ishii... I have a lot.
9) If you could say one sentence to your myu favorite: What do you want to say him/her?
I would tell her that I really admire her and that she did great in the different roles she had for myu. Also that I love her dancing.
10) Which Sailor Moon Story do you want on stage?
I want to see everything that Haruka and Michiru were doing during Super S.
No but really a Sailor V story would be cool. Or a PGSM spin on the first arc.
11) Tell me your top 3 underrated actors.
Ado Endo, Hisano Akamine, Nao Inada.
12) Give 3 actors new roles.
Airi Kanda: Sailor Moon. I would love to see this in 2019 myu.
Fumina Hara: Ami! I think she would have been a great Ami.
And Hikari Ono as Professor Tomoe.
13) Combine classic and revival myu: What does it look like?
New myu costumes, wigs, and set designs with the old original story myus, kaguya and the dracul arc!
14) Revival myu song you want in classic myu?
Eye of the Storm, Line up, Ai no Starshine.
15) Tell me an unpopular opinion you have about myu.
I don’t really know what the popular and unpopular opinions are hahaha.
16) Ai no Starshine or Music of the Spheres?
I love both but Music of the Spheres because it always gets stuck in my head! And the scene with it in LMF was amazing!
17) The Last Change or it’s 21st Century Version?
Marina’s lower pitch version hehe
18) Choubi Uranus to Neptune or Harsh Saint Cry?
Harsh Saint Cry, but Choubi is soooo catchy.
19) Is there something about Myu what annoys you?
Hmmm, that there’s no subtitles for the DVDs...
20) What do you expect for the 2019 Musical?
What I want for 2019 myu is some original stories or something, but I expect they will just do the 5 arcs over again with a new cast and maybe some new twists. Maybe it will be more anime than manga based this time.
21) How important are dancing abilities of the actors for you?
Kind of important, I mean they don’t have to be great but at least not look stiff.
22) Which Myu Merchendaise you want? (you can name non existing too)
I would like officially subbed DVDs.
23) Are you sad that Luna and Artemis disappered after Gaiden?
Nope lol.
24) And interessting (non-existing) Haru-Michi couple?
Nao and Sayaka would be cool.
25) Your favorite Moon x Tux Couple?
None because I don’t like the couple lol
26) Your favorite Musical Only Character?
SPACE KNIGHT
I’m kidding, probably Vampir.
27) Which character you would play in a musical (senshi, villian etc.)?
I’d probably be awful but I’d like to be Michiru. Or Usagi or Rei or Ami.
28) Something else you want to say about Sera Myu?
Myu is such a good version of Sailor Moon and I wish it was appreciated by more fans. I also hope I’ll be able to go see the new musical in 2019!

Notes and thoughts of Sailor Stars ep. 197-200
So just watched again episodes 197 through 200.
197 Galaxia sat on her throne, Neptune fired a deep submerge at her. It vanished. Uranus drew her space sword and charged at Galaxia, jumped and, with both hands, she tried kill Galaxia. However, Galaxia sat on her throne, stopped that blade and then took it away from Uranus, with one hand. Uranus fell back and Galaxia threw that blade back at her. The attempt to extract Uranus's and Neptune's star seeds was stopped by Saturn's silent wall. Uranus and Pluto fired their attack, world shaking and dead scream, together at Galaxia. The joint attack had no effect. Galaxia striked back, destroyed Pluto's staff and Saturn's Glaive, and wounded all four. Galaxia said teamwork was illusion, only energy in the form of star seed was real. Uranus and Neptune surrendered and then took the star seeds from Pluto and Saturn after Neptune said "you know why" and Uranus said "this is how we fight" After same moments of thinking, only fighter (seiya) said yes to Saturn's question, "do you like Sailor Moon?"
198 Galaxia said there was no hope Uranus and Neptune tried to extract Galaxia's star seed. That attempt failed. Their bracelets back in the hands of Galaxia. Uranus fell, facing down and Neptune flipped over to the top of a lower air duct. After asking Fighter to protect (sailor moon), Uranus turned her head to the direction of Neptune and asked if she felt scared. Neptune replied "I want to touch you, Haruka". As they were disappearing, the two struggled to reach for each other's hand and they held their hands together right before they were both gone. Seiya said everyone believed in sailor Moon, and Maker and Healer repeated the words "believe", “Sailor Moon".  Maker, "they will not be gone if you don't give up" Healer, "and you won't give up" Then all three members of starlights, one after another, said they believed in Sailor Moon.
[So Sailor Moon got to hear what she needed to: 1) that surrender to Galaxia would fail all those who died and 2) she still had friends. And that gave her strength to carry on. (Added on Jan 4, 2021)]
199 Starlights combined attack momentarily overpowered Galaxia, but they were swept aside. Sailor Moon chose to believe in the goodness and tried to use silver moon on Galaxia. Her eternal tiare was cut in half. Starlights tried to attack Galaxia in unison again. Failed. A voice asked Sailor Moon, the light of hope, to help. Sailor Moon jumped in front of Galaxia's blade, her star seed emerged. Galaxia grabbed it. A voice of asked starlights to believe. And Maker made out that was the voice of their princess. Galaxia in a flashback sent away her star seed as the light of hope while Chaos sealed inside her and gradually took over her. Starlights asked for final energy from their princess. Chibi Chibi emitted a pink light that grew to become visible from space.
200 Episode started with Chibi2 in the center of that pink light. Galaxia asked if that was the awakening of the light of hope. A sword was formed, and it asked Sailor Moon, in the form of Princess Serenity, to seal away Galaxia. Sailor Moon would not do that. Galaxia striked, Sailor Moon fell downward. She grabbed the sword in mid fall, white wing appeared on her back. The fall stopped. Galaxia's bracelets were destroyed as Chaos completed the takeover. The outfit of Galaxia changed from gold to black, and bat wing emerged. A voice: Galaxia was completely taken over by Chaos. Please use the sword to save the galaxy. Chaos closed in, attacked Sailor Moon with her sword. Sailor Moon dodged the attacks and as she did so, she pierced Chao's wing unintentionally. Furious, Chaos smashed the sword in Sailor Moon's hand to pieces. Sailor Moon still refused to give up, said Chaos was wrong after all, that fighting would only result in hurting each other. Chaos retorted, "so you don't have the courage and pride of a senshi after all" Sailor Moon replied, nothing could be gained from fighting...[untranslated sentence: which alone is not the way to solve things (戦いだけが、解決方法じゃない)] Chaos, "have you given up?" Sailor Moon replied no. And then proceeded to say she loved this world because she got to meet everyone. Chaos slashed at Sailor Moon, saying someone who refused to fight could not protect the world, and that was why all friends of Sailor Moon were gone because of that weakness. Sailor Moon responded, they were not gone as long as she did not not give up. She then flew toward Chaos, in front of her chest was the silver crystal, glowing. Chaos again told Sailor Moon to give up. Sailor Moon replied that she loved this world and every one, that she believed, that she did not want to lose another person, not galaxia, not anyone else. She got close to Chaos, and reached out. Galaxia said she also loved the world and reached back, Chaos was purged from Galaxia's body. Galaxia thanked Sailor Moon and then asked if Chaos was eliminated. Sailor Moon said she thought it went back to where it belonged, the mind of everyone. Galaxia asked, so again? Sailor Moon replied, let's believe...in the people of this world we love so much (あたし達の大好きなこの世界の人々). She then asked Galaxia to guide the star seeds back. And then the reunion. Everyone was happy and at peace. And the end.
And the last time I was wondering how Galaxia could remain alive when her bracelets were destroyed, she had no star seed in her. Other senshi who did not have the bracelets while their star seed got removed all vanished. What kept her from disappearing like other senshi? How she could be able to guide the star seeds back to where they belong? And after reading what others in the English speaking world thought about the finale, I knew people found it lame, weak, disappointing. I felt this happy ending was kind of forced. Empty. The intended message of love and hope could overpower all was good. Yet somehow the ending felt anticlimactic. What bugged me the most was after all that people had gone through, being killed, being forced to turned on friends in the desperate attempt to save the world that ended as a crushing failure, they were simply brought back to life and happy and all, as if NOTHING happened.
One thing about the reunion though, was that Sailor Jupiter appeared next to Sailor Uranus. Given that Jupiter had been hostile toward Uranus throughout S, being next to Uranus this time implied she felt okay with her now? No more grudge? A symbol of forgiveness for Uranus (and Neptune)?
I also read a review in Japanese that said this sailor stars series was about the personal growth of Starlights, and it took the death of all Inners and Outers save Sailor Moon for them to achieve it. So I took note on the Starlights trio. And yes, there were some changes in Healer and Maker. However! This personal growth of the starlights trio, chiefly of Healer and Maker more accurately, was not touched on, either. Not well written, not executed as powerful as it should have been. Really kind of wasted all the elements that aired before it.
A note of thanks to  @keyofjetwolf for all the posts written about this series, the screen by screen explanations of what to take note, to the author of Josei Next Door, and to the blog in Japanese that transcribed what the characters said in the episodes plus their own reviews and comments.

what do you think of Shuu and Sayaka?
Let’s head some bullshit off at the pass, first of all:
You can feel however you want
No one is going to make decisions about the direction the musicals because of a 31 year old American lesbian
I’m literally answering a question I’ve been asked
So I think Sayaka is absolutely fucking picture-perfect as Michiru. She’s amazing, in her motions and her tone of voice and her look, everything about her is absolutely how Michiru is in my head, I think she’s my favorite Michiru in any of the musicals if we’re allowing only for individual performance. (Nao and Yuuka are a powerhouse of chemistry that cannot be stopped) (Yukka is the only other Michiru I like on stage.)
I’m consistently frustrated by the musical’s writing for her because I feel as if the actress is being wasted, because it’s gotta be the Fucking Mamoru show, and so between all the characters it’s juggling and the way it chooses to juggle them, Sayaka doesn’t get a lot in the way of things to work with, though she makes amazing use of what she’s given. I would love to see her given more time to do things on stage, but, this is a general gripe with how the new musicals handle shit. Actress? Great.
Now here’s the one where the only people I know who agree with me are often Zuka fans in a broader sense: Shuu’s not a good Haruka. Technically she gets miles more to work with than Sayaka, so you’d think she’d be able to meet it, but her performance is very milquetoast, and I find myself consistently unimpressed with her work. Apparently, she never went very far in Zuka either, so it may just be she’s not a very good actress period, not simply that she’s ill-suited for the role. I thought she looked great in initial promos, but I was unimpressed with her on stage.
This, like with Sayaka, could be blamed a little on the writing. The new musicals are pretty much Inners and Mamoru centric, and don’t have the sense of collaborative senshi energy of the old ones, which is why I have such fondness for the older ones. But I think seeing Sayaka make great character use of the moments she has, when Haruka gets so much more than Michiru because we’re following the manga I guess, has made me not give Shuu a lot of quarter on this. Pretty much all the fawning I see is based on the fact that sometimes they hold hands onstage. Which is great as a picture, but doesn’t improve Shuu’s acting any.
Which brings me to a another point: People seem to like them because they “go on dates” but this is pretty much a zuka marketing thing. There’s no reason to believe it’s genuine, I’m sorry. Common for paired actresses to do. They probably get along great, but I have severe doubts about it being anything beyond a hype train.
Also, don’t ship real people, it’s very creepy.

Bonus Question Answers! (anime heat 3)
I asked a silly question! You gave me incredible answers. SO VERY MANY INCREDIBLE ANSWERS. If yours is listed below, you’ve earned an entry in a random draw to win a GIFTENING liveblog OF YOUR CHOICE
SURPRISE EVERYONE WHO ANSWERED THIS ONE GETS AN ENTRY (with extra entry if you pulled a specific line). This has been such a struggle for me for the past ... you know, million years or something, and each of you made me feel so good, thank you. ♥
Q: This is reaching back into the memory a bit, I know, but what's your favourite of my fanfic? (BONUS BONUS ENTRY if you pull a specific line!)
*  i cannot remember a specific line off the top of my head but i remember the post-S series dealing with usagi's trauma from pharaoh 90 (sound of silence?) was a gut punch and a half --  anewconstellation
~~
* "Blue shirt. Pearl buttons." I think this was the first time I read you writing the Outers, particularly Neptune and Uranus, and, uh, holy shit. Absolutely note-perfect dialogue and dynamic, particularly for that period of Sailor Moon S when Michiru and Haruka used intimacy of speech and gesture as an instrument of distancing and obfuscation (of their goals to the Inners, of their hearts to themselves and to each other, of the heli-pad to the staff at Mugen Academy, etc). It was so clear, and so clearly *them* that I could actually hear the intonations of their respective seiyuu. And then to deploy such spot-on character elements in combination with the stakes and the maturity the anime never reached for, my WORD, are you trying to kill me??? The pacing, the restraint! What an absolute gift. You're a wonder. (also your drabbles are fuckin peerless, and the BTL concept is such a clever series framework)  -- @rasiqra-revulva
~~
*  This was so hard to pick from, but I finally settled on "Cause and Affect" - it's such a heartbreaking story, but the juxtaposition between the clinical lines of information from the computer to the memories Ami is dealing with to the horror of the visuals around her... it's so bright and sharp and PRESENT.  It keeps me in the story, that mix of tones and feelings.  And the final line?  Perfection.  "Number of regrets: none"  What an amazing take on Ami and how she processes information and how she deals with the situation she is in.  I still get chills up my back when I read the story.  -- @amberlilly
~~
*  I love your Between the Lines series, it's how I found your Tumblr and liveblogs back in the day -- @amboato
~~
*  Author Alert.  “So never, ever, going to live this down.” -- @crunchbuttsteak
~~
*  "Of her word" quote "But for all that, it remained sand. Rei erased it with one swipe."  -- Dei
~~
*  Between The Lines. Adding further character/emotional depth to canon is YES PLZ. I really liked the whole idea of Usagi having trauma post-Pharaoh 90 and all the chapters that hit on that. On a less serious note Chibs' circus-related PTSD and freaking out when Hotaru wants to go to the circus kills me every time. ("But your precious dreams Hotaru-chan!")  -- forgottenfae
~~
*  This is probably the obvious choice, but "The Sounds of The Silence" has haunted me in all the best ways since I first read it. The way you write Rei, Usagi, and Rei and Usagi hits me right in the heart every time. This particular fic, with Usagi so traumatized, and Rei being as soft and gentle as Usagi needs, will always stick with me. I pulled up the fic to try and narrow down a single line, and ultimately there's no real debate. "She would never stop trying to do more, but for now, she simply did this." That line is, at its core, the essence of Rei Hino. And it is perfection.  -- gatorsandglitter
~~
*  I don't expect this to win at all, just sharing,, but I just super fondly remembered the goggles and all the amazing content, meta, and fic those inspired, both from you and others  -- @goosebytrade
~~
*  "You Win or You Die"  my favorite line is "She and Rei WOULD have The Moment, they WOULD get their thousand years of bliss, and they WOULD be making out after all this was over. Like, SO HARD."  -- @i-needa-nap-please

*  I'm always really bad at answering questions like this because my mind has pretty much become a goldfish in my old age and I have a hard time remembering specific fics; it all sort of starts to jumble up in my brain and things get lost. But I have always loved reading your writing, it's what got me onto this godforsaken website in the first place -- it was just before Crystal dropped, and we were all foolishly full of hope and excitement, and you were going through the Moon Pride video and waxing poetic about the FRIENDSHIPS and I was like, "YES! Finally! Someone who understands why I love this stupid kids' show!" I think I sent you an ask saying this before, (but who knows if you ever got it, Tumblrs being what they are - indifferent) but I tried reading fanfic and even published novels based on properties, like the Buffy novels and Star Trek and Star Wars novels, for a long time, and mostly found it frustrating and annoying and just... wrong. It always had this awkwardness and clunkiness to it that didn't do anything for me and just constantly screamed "THIS IS A FANFIC IT IS NOT REAL WRITING" at me. Didn't like it. But, I liked yours. Yours didn't feel awkward or clunky. You have never written any sentences like, "Rei watched the blonde stand up" where "the blonde" is Minako, and I don't know why fanfic writers think that calling characters "the blonde" or "the redhead" or whatever is sexy or cute but it ain't (sorry, pet peeve tangent). So, when you were writing stuff more, I would read it like it was going out of style, and you led me to Doc's writing, which had the same natural, "this is real writing" quality, and I loved hers, too. Anyway, my favorites of yours have always been the Between the Lines stuff. I just love the "hidden" moments that we didn't get to see. The Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead bits of Sailor Moon (speaking of fanfic that actually works) that bring so much depth to characters we know and love already or to characters we see only briefly. Also, the Shadow Senshi, because FUCK. Just... Kill Me. In any event, I know that writing has been difficult for you of late, and I know how that feels, so I hope that people who are actually able to answer this question have given you some places to go and draw strength from so that it can become part of your life again. TBH, I've been using the bonus questions on your Giftening surveys and Doc's 8 Days surveys as an excuse to try doing some small bits of quick, no pressure, nobody's gonna see it unless you or Doc actually LIKE it, don't think about it writing, and it has been helpful. I hope you can find something that gives you the same opportunity. Now that I've written you a novel that doesn't even answer the question you asked (goldfish, remember? *sigh*), have a gorgeous Tuesday!  -- @incorrecttact

*  The one with Pluto and Queen Serenity, where Serenity is selfish in a very Usagi way, but her arrogance combined with that selfishness makes it a fatal flaw? I liked that one a lot. -- Jules
~~
*  the bit you wrote to 'fill in' a gap for why during r did mamoru act like a distant jerk. My favourite parts were Rei coming to see the same dream, and despite being the one to have the biggest reason to believe in these kinds of prophetic visions, Rei still doesn't believe fate is set in stone. -- just... a fan. a well-baked one

*  Make It To New Year's -- @kaleidodreams
~~
*  ahhh, where is a link to all of your fanfic? It's the series you started after S, with Rei comforting Usagi, because like you I was let down by the fact that they never followed up on what Usagi saw, or even how she dealt, with the end of S. runner up: the one where Usagi is about to give birth because everything you write with Rei and Usagi is amazing. -- kari

*  There was a drabble/draft/something that you used one of my prompts for, and I prompted you with Usagi and Rei, but you did it from Luna's perspective and THAT WAS SO UNEXPECTED and it turned out SO GOOD cause like!!!!!! You made Sailor Moon both someone Luna cares for, because still the legacy of the moon, and someone utterly discouraging for her because *this should not be*, and wow what a way to make it both about Usagi herself and about her powers.  -- katrani

*  I love the btl fics, they fill in the missing gaps, add depth to the story, and sometimes smooth over things (SuperS) when canon is just...blah. One line I really liked was: “I was listening, at first, but then I started thinking about how hungry I was, and how a pork bun would be really good right now, and then I wondered what makes a thing a bun, and like, if you put ANYTHING in a bun, does it become a Thing-Bun, so could you make a bun out of another bun and would it be a Bun Bun, and wouldn’t that be the greatest thing to– Rei?” It's a great run-on, stream of thought sentence that just really catches Usagi's voice, is hilarious, and such a natural progression. -- @kumeko
~~
*  “HUG,” Usagi demanded again, because dammit, she’d been promised a hug and SOMEONE was going to deliver. (The one where Michiru has the hiccups. Because it's fun HaruMichi stuff, because it weaponises Usagi in a useful way, because it manages to (gently) make fun of both perfect!Michiru and saint!Usagi without being mean to either character, and also because I get hiccups a lot and I haaaaate them.) -- nerdy-flutterings

*  I can't remember a specific fic, but I LOVE your Shadow Senshi headcanons and they're the main reason I started writing my own Shadow Senshi stories. -- @notesfromtheidiotbox

*  The Figuarts saga is the Sailor Moon fic I never knew I needed -- Raye

*  Special Delivery is a delight. So much Rei Certainty (that ends up being misplaced). So much Usagi being The Most Usagi About Pregnancy. So much Comedic Hijinks, because why the hell WOULDN’T ‘the Senshi get blindsided when Usagi goes into labor’ end up going full screwball? There’s a lot of great lines there (Rei’s theory about Chibs taking control of the Gate of Time and manipulating things is fantastic, as is the ending,) but my favorite is definitely “Rei Hino if I give birth to my daughter on the side of the road I swear I will go back in time and tear all the pages out of your favorite coloring book! [...] I’ll break the crayons too, Rei-chan!” Delightfully specific and childish, especially since Usagi sticks with it, and that particular brand of comic specificity is definitely a highlight of yours. -- Regalli

*  Fire on Mountain!!! When I got to “Her voice was deeper than most expected when facing the certainty of her. It was rough, sandpaper running over cherry. She’d been a singer, once. Nobody would have believed her.” I was like oh. OH! -- Sasha
~~
*  My favorite of your fanfic, one one of the first I read is 'Hard to Break'. And my absolute favorite line is Usagi's panic when Minako tries to smoke: "Minako who was almost certainly dying, the cigarette had spread its evil and killed her instantly oh god."  -- @shavedjudomonkey
~~
*  Tonight Ami would grieve, and wish she understood why.'  This Between the Lines about Ami getting her mini computer both haunts me and brings tears to my eyes.  -- @shonasof
~~
*  I can't remember the title, but it's the one where Minako realizes that Rei's been writing Sailor V fanfic under the name Red Bow -- Somariel
~~
*  You would think Mako-chan's Happy Ending, but nope, this one goes to Hard to Break (although I had to look up the exact name.) This thing is filled with such great lines. How am I supposed to pick out one? "[Watch out, boys,]" Minako said in smooth and entirely unnecessary English. "[Lady Super Cool is on the prowl.]" -- Ultrace

*  I forget the title, but it's the 'last senshi standing' fic where Ami is reflecting on the battle that took the others from her. Detatched and cold as she analyzes Rei Minako and Mako and finally Usagi's death with a medical efficiency, going through her Visors readout and then reflecting that the clinical words were nothing compared to what she'd actually seen. following up the method of death of the senshi with a statistic in relation to her friendship with the girl. Number of milkshakes shared, number of conversations lasting well into the night, number of hugs, number of smiles that brightened the darkest of moods. Describing how Rei's heart was pulped in a monster's grip, Minako's once beautiful face smashed against the rocks, Mako's lightning that outlived its mistress as she and Usagi ran off, and then finally that one last attempt to protect Usagi failing as 'Cervical Fracture' flashes on her visor. And From there she just... accepts death. sitting beside where Usagi had fallen and waiting for the end. it's dark af but it's the first one that always comes to mind when i think about ur fics :>  -- Vega

*  I am extremely predictable here with two of my choices, as you know that I am obsessed with Fire on the Mountain and Blue Shirt, two things you wrote when you "definitely couldn't write" (Sidenote: My new year's resolution is to be harder on your about writing) We all know why I love blue shirt, it's basically an underhand pitch to the face for me, but Fire on the Mountain has a quality of regret and longing that I really connected with, something that really struck me in a way that was powerful. It's different from a lot of your inners work, and I think about Mina posing as Rei, in her disguise magic in the woods, and all the reasons why, fairly often. Something that MAY come as a surprise to you, is I really wish we got more ofyour overwatch stuff, and maybe I'll just keep asking for this for my birthday for the rest of our natural lives, but I think of like, the one you wrote on 7/14/20, with Pharah longing to have a man to shoot in the face because that would be easier than the emotions around whatever's going on with her, and I'm utterly tantalized. And I loved that hurt/comfort you wrote for me, where Pharah had this single minded drive to find out what had happened to Angela, and Tracer's trying to, well, comfort her, on some level, and the way you described Pharah's "animal cry" was FANTASTIC, and as always I am deeply jealous of your Tracer voice and IF YOU WOULD WRITE IT MORE IT WOULD HELP ME. -- WRITE, BITCH.

*  The one were Hotaru confronted Michiru and Haruka about how they had tried to kill her in order to stop the Silence. Such a good little moment =w= -- zorrito

AND THEN THESE WERE UNSIGNED SAD FACE
*  Chosen. I like your Overwatch stuff but Chosen was a goddamn masterpiece.
*  Operation: Heart Angels. Senshi going after Mamoru for his bullshit was something I didn't know I needed.
*  The entirety of Beggars Would Ride, including every single line of Anya's dialogue.
I’ll be drawing for the bonus liveblog around the start of THE GIFTENING 2020 (currently looking to be Monday, 11 January 2021). Each bonus question is another chance to earn an entry! I CAN ABSOLUTELY AND SHAMELESSLY BE BOUGHT.
